I just tried this and it worked so well it actually pissed me off. I learned on Beretta 92 and 1911s so no matter how much I've trained the index was always slightly off with Glock. Over the years I've just worked around it because I'm fully invested in Glock 17 & 45. Thank you. Seriously just solved everything.
I took a dremel to mine after seeing you respond to a comment that it helped with the Glock grip angle and I definitely saw an improvement in my ability to acquire sights with my G19 and RMR.
Just did this today. What a great way to change the grip angle to something I’m much more familiar with having come from 1911s. Did this to my g26 gen 5 mos, and it’s a huge difference. I still shoot 1911s, and this puts all my handguns at a close enough angle that I don’t have to mess with muscle memory going between brands. Genius, cheap, and reversible if I ever choose too. Love it. Ty sir.
Always cool to know more cost effective ways of doing stuff. I've spent too much money buying Grip Force Adapters and Great Lakes Customs Chopped Backstraps to achieve the same effect. I also like how it allows the usage of more magwells isteas of having to find that works with the bottom of the backstrap. An effective modification for anyone who carries and shoots Glocks.
I came up with this idea about a week ago. I was surprised to find this video today. I’m glad I’m not nuts modifying my back strap. I do this because the web of my hand is extra meaty and my precious flesh gets slide bite bad with the beaver tail. This fixes that issue.
i've always chopped the medium backstrap for the benefit of preventing slide bite since i have a very high up grip. I never thought of trying this with the large ones. I'll do it today.
Awesome! A free Grip Force adapter!! I just put the Large on and it points exactly where it needs to! I may try the Med just to see how that works. Great mod! Thanks JW!
Interesting 🤔 I have big hands so I normally get slide bite, I've always used the beaver tail backstraps but have never tried cutting them down like that.
So this sounds great in theory and apparently a lot of supporting user feedback as well but wasn’t the Glock designed with these angles on purpose to aid in shootability and recoil management? Locking your wrists forward creates a stable and strong shooting base. Not saying I agree one way or another but does adding this cut backstrap hinder the designed ergonomics at all?
But the other benefit of the back-strap is more contact surface for us big handed folk. I tried the "half-strap" and it does reduce the angle but it also reduces the surface area.
I actually hold a lighter to the bottom after I cut it and smoosh it flat a bit then sand it and it’s a lot more comfortable in the hand it doesn’t dig in as much when I grip the firearm
Adjust your non-dominant hand to grip the front of the pistol, add grips as necessary. For a $30 I can make a grip tape job better than a machine-textured job and it acts as a compensator, increases control, reduces recoil, so on pew view has good videos on it
Now if Glock could just actually “innovate” for once and fix that themselves. Shadow Systems frame is the perfect Glock frame. It’s a shame they don’t just sell the frame.
Jagerwerks is one of the most reputable in the industry. Whereas they are human and can make mistakes, I have had multiple slides done up by them and am very happy. There has to be more to this story.
This is a bandaid over a training issue. If you’re unable to acquire your sights off presentation, the issue is not that your weapon is deficient, the issue is with you.
@@spacecaesar7619 I’d love to hear what mental gymnastics you have prepared to justify Glock’s garbage plastic sights and trigger that feels like a condom full of broken glass
@@tylerrodriguez9233 hahaha, spectacular comment. I actually shoot really well with the trash plastic sights though for some reason. They will inevitably completely fail though.
It kind of looks like you're adding a vestigial grip safety from a 1911 to a Glock... I guess for people that really get hung up on the group angle thing this works. I wonder if these people have ever shot an AR-15 with an a2 grip. And don't even tell them that the Steyr L9 pistol exists they will probably explode😂

This also fixes my glock slide bite issue at the same time. Thank you so much!
Can confirm. Learned this from taking a MSP class years ago. Been doing it ever since. Good stuff! 🤘🍺

Something new. Not sure if I’ll like it, but I like it.

*Yeah? I came up with this 7.2 months ago. I was first! Ask my wife Morgan Fairchild, she'll tell ya!*
Best Glock "upgrade" I have ever done. This is great.
Bro Thank you! I just did this and its amazing. Im young and dont want to F up my wrists over the next decades so I think this is awesome.

Worked like a charm on my Glock 19 Gen5. Good basic DIY tip that you can do right out of the box! Thanks, guys.
Interesting 🤔 I have big hands so I normally get slide bite, I've always used the beaver tail backstraps but have never tried cutting them down like that.
Yeah, I'm 6'9" with spider fingers, it's a solid setup for long hands.
I have long fingers and prefer the medium strap uncut. Makes my index pad hit square with the trigger rather than over and around it.
I do this but only for keeping the trigger near the tip of my index finger. Also put a little goon take around the grip.
Both my Glocks have this mod. But I use the medium… I love it . Works great

Also eliminating slide bite and lets you put a magwell on your gun. A full beaver tail will not allow most major manufacturers magwells.
This how I do my Glocks and the grip to me is awesome
Jagerwerks is awesome. Super helpful video
great info sir. thank you. great content

How far up on those tabs in the inside of the back strap do you cut?
Under the second rib down from the top.
DUDE - Holy shit, thank you!
I actually hold a lighter to the bottom after I cut it and smoosh it flat a bit then sand it and it’s a lot more comfortable in the hand it doesn’t dig in as much when I grip the firearm
Yup, same.
A dremel with a buffing wheel will make rhe cut edge smooth as silk
dremel, soldering ion, jb weld & hockey tape.... are king makers for pistol grips.
Adjust your non-dominant hand to grip the front of the pistol, add grips as necessary.
For a $30 I can make a grip tape job better than a machine-textured job and it acts as a compensator, increases control, reduces recoil, so on

Same as the 20 year old Grip Force Adapters
Except better and come with the glock.
Will these work on a Gen 3?
Gen 3s don’t have backstap capabilities
you have to saw it off, clean it up then glue it back on.
You should patent this idea and sell it!! Especially for those who use mag wells!

Any suggestion for gen 3 Glocks?
Buy a Gen 5.
Gorilla Glue!
I'm going to test this theory on my G26
I've been doing this for years
ILY ❤
Did this over 2 years when I got issued my 47 at work… it didn’t do shit. I switched to a 19 and don’t use a backstrap and much prefer it to a 47.
I’m worried about cutting it and then messing it up and having to buy a new backstrip lol. Looks simple enough tho
I’ve done that years ago
okay but what if i have tiny hands
Will there be any micro mounts that are more affordable?
Nice
Those giant mailbox optics irk my OCD
Too bad they are so good. lol
Please just do this and don’t waste money on grip force adapters. They don’t fit worth crap.
They come free with the gun
Interesting
Gen 4 or 5 34
I watched the vid twice, & read many of the comments. Why cut the backstrap?
I do this so my thumb knuckle doesn’t get shredded
I did that before you .
I don’t recommend Jager Werks, they screwed up my slide and never got back to me.
I was thinking about sending a G19 slide to them for some work, but I don't want to get shafted.

can you go more in depth? only had good experiences so far but it's important i read this.
We do everything in our power to make any issues in our end right. When did we not get back to you?
Jagerwerks is bad ass and has a proven history of customer satisfaction. Trolls man. Trolls.
Now you just need to ✂️ that Glock.
Id rather just train

@@Asidebar Glock grip angle is what it is for a reason. It forces you to pronate your wrist which is a vital part of managing handgun recoil at speed.
