    Love this. I instinctively learned this while shooting USPSA. Also learned that within 5-7 yards, if you have good fundamentals, you can point shoot and your rounds will go exactly where you were looking. Add a red dot to all of this and your speed is wild.

    Question: how vital are the splits so long as your first shot lands? Say you draw, get your first shot off at 1.10 seconds or faster, then have splits of .3-.4 to pull your group in tighter and hit the a zone. Since you’ve already made impact on target once and they’re likely starting to be slowed down, do super fast splits mean life or death still?

    Remember, kids: all the training in the world is useless if you don’t CARRY YOUR WEAPON with you when you leave your house. Every excuse makes your training useless and a waste of time. And you must go on the street just like you go to the range, right? So if you train with 12 magazines, you must carry 12 magazines on the street. Never be in a gunfight and have your last thought be: If I Only Had My Gun…..

    Yea ranges differ for sure. Gun clubs are the way to go if you can afford them but in today’s economy I can’t dump 1200 bucks a year for something I may utilize once a month. The public range is 13 dollars for the entire day and depending on the foot traffic the instructors are flexible with how you choose to shoot especially if you get to know them and build a relationship with them.

    Nothing wrong with starting slow. Once you have developed your abilities, you can work on increasing your speed.
    This is best case scenario.
    Not all situations that require firing a gun need 5+ shots, and there's no guarantee you can get your target and now you might have used up 5 rounds. That's why you'll often hear of self defense shootings and even police only using 2 shots. They usually know how to adapt to the situation at hand and not go crazy.

      shootings dont usually end without a heart or headshot or maybe a pelvic shot people are extremely resilient so anything but a few immediate vital shots and youre gonna have more holes than you did when you woke up that day and most police shootings you see shoot ALOT more than twice just go take a look at police activity's channel and the average range for shootings depending on where you look is 3-7 yards where accuracy is almost a guarantee unless your firearm is for decoration or fashion thats why you focus on speed

    This drill seems best suited to help rich folks burn up a lot of ammo. Why shoot 5 shots in 2 seconds with a 3-foot spread? Two well-placed shots in 2 seconds will do a much better job.

    • @drm3259
      @drm3259 9 місяців тому +1

      To watch this and make this comment shows a complete lack of conceptual takeaway from the video. You picked his spread from 25 yards, too.

    • @davidmacnab5213
      @davidmacnab5213 9 місяців тому +2

      Perhaps if this video didn't start mid-sentence there might be something to provide a conceptual basis for evaluating what is being taught. As it is, the drill and the results, to this shooter, are unimpressive. Perhaps some people are happy with a 20 yard target that looks as if it has been shot with a sawn-off .410 loaded with buckshot, but I am not. In the past you learned to shoot as fast as possible without compromising accuracy. Head-shots do not count if your point of aim is center of mass; they are just randomly lucky. For me, there is nothing to be proud of in a 3-foot shot spread and 20% miss rate (one shot in five) on a man-size target at 20 yards. There are better drills if you want to shoot effectively.

    • @drm3259
      @drm3259 9 місяців тому +1

      @@davidmacnab5213 Again - I still think you're taking the results of this drill and applying them to a pure marksmanship drill. I was Marine Corps infantry, specifically on a FAST team and spent a lot of time in shoot houses dumping pistol ammo, and spreads like this would have been completely unacceptable on any day, because all that was evaluated was grouping outwards from center mass. That is not the point of this drill.
      And I disagree with the "impressive" factor - I don't think you could draw and fire 5 rounds in 2 seconds and hit anything near the spread that this guy hit at 25 yards - I'll bet you wouldn't get more than the first round - if that - on target.
      He got 24/25 rounds on target. In a true firefight where fractions of a second matter, he's winning against you or I simply as a virtue of having trained this drill.
