I can’t believe Hikaru plays that accurate in 1 min, dude is other level
ye man, he could be a gm!
@@justinblock76 You mean Super Super GM 🤣
@@justinblock76 Even a GM, you have seen great Fabi even plays 2 min
Even the accuracy of physically moving his pieces with such speed ahah can tel he’s played thousands of board games
@@Hussainzidane well hikaru is top 4 in the world right now behind magnus, nepo, ding liren, so no wonder xD
Hikaru 90.4% accuracy with just one minute of clock.
Robert 88.7%
And he was winning!
When you play blitz you stick to what you had already memorized until you simplify the game that why you see this accuracy
Im just a nobody, and ive had just recently a 93 acc in game. Then two games later i had a 97.4% which surprised me. 3min Blitz games, not increment
@@thedon3346 it is easy to get a high accuracy when your opponent is playing bad moves i often got 100 accuracy on my openings when i was 1200 but as your elo increases you face stronger opponents who also plays good moves it is much harder to find the best moves in a game where your opponent gives the best replies to them specially in the end games
@@usemeasdislikebutton420 right wheni play strong bots lately like Mittens. It wil get 94, and average around 87. I average in the 80s against all the bots really. Which is mostly Magnus champion bot. Ive beat other strong bots, had 91 against the 1800 bot i forget its name. I was surprised i beat that one my first go. Grampa gambit i beat with 79 i think. That bot is rated 1650. So yea i know what you mean. When i get those high acc's its against humans. I think 99 is my highest.
That music and drums beating in the background starting making the game more intense
Hikaru is amazing, with just 1 min he had the win!! It’s just that he was down to 4 seconds. Great game, it amazes me how accurate he is.
Props to the other guy for being able to keep pace with Nakamura most of the game it was all the way through.
I am so impressed by the way Hikaru doesn't throw a hissy fit about the pieces getting knocked over at the end. That shows great class that he wants his visit to be an enjoyable experience for everyone and can put aside his ultra competitive world class GM hat and just have a good time with a great young talent like Robert and all the spectactors without taking things overly seriously.
Yes how impressive in a casual game he doesn’t throw a fit! The standards are so low lol
I would have been so annoyed… it annoyed me even watching it happen and I didn’t even play😡
@@Gush27 lmao ikr.
nah he does he is more controlled now. his focus seems quite different before compared to today
@@QuintinMasseybaby
Watching Hikaru play is just utterly beautiful. Super satisfying. Every single move he makes is so fluid, almost like poetry. Seemingly simple moves at the beginning are then proven to be incredibly complex yet precise.
Great game! Robert's 17! Someone needs to check his growth rings, lol. He looks closer to 27. 👍
Lol
Bro looks 36
Why insult the guy like that, he doesn’t look 27 and looks like a kid (17)
@@Refresh636 he looks like 40.
@@exelmans8855 Hikaru, does not the kid though.
This proves Robert has it in him to travel far. Good Luck and well played!
Ah, time odds proves nothing; he's already an IM. This was a lost game for him if we remove the time odds Hikaru was giving him. You don't get time odds in real life tournaments
Not as much as Hans
Yes, 1 game proves so much.
6:49 Rg8 is not the threat in that position, Rc7 is the threat. After Rg8 black can escape with Kd7.
This was super crazy and I agree, the accuracy by Hikaru and Robert was insane! They were neck and neck the whole game, nobody had a big advantage. Only advantage I saw was 1.6 with Hikaru.
"Hmmmm, I've really misplayed this."
"Now it's just gonna be a draw."
"So bad, just so, so bad, I almost flagged that game."
"Alright chat, let's keep going."
Something happened with the clock at 6:06, there’s a point where Roberts time stays stuck at 4.8 for a turn after Hikaru taps 🤷🏻♂️
I think that this is the first time in almost 30 years of playing that I have ever seen the board reduced to kings!
Wow, I've played a handful of years off and on, and it's happened to me several times..I guess that's the beauty of chess math?
@@jamfamily4287 Y'all must have persisted. It's a thing of pride to have a king only draw. It means both players truly gave it their all. A lot of players will just see a likely draw coming and quit. But those players weren't masters and grand masters who could read the board like the back of their hands without even looking at it.
Really? I didn't think it was that uncommon. I've had this happen to me especially in king and pawn endgames, and when I was a beginner
@@QuixoteBadger I'm also part of the 'online' generation, maybe that's a factor lol
Really now? That seems so unlikely... Even OTB
Edit: except if you never played certain time modes. Or never looked at chess videos/streams or games that must've ocurred between players ...OVER 30 YEARS
Dang! Just astonishing! Hope to see a rematch.
Love how both players kept totally calm.
Love Robert's facial expression at the end when everyone chants out to have another game. 😂
to hold on against hikaru like that is insane, he's gm material
agreed
he played vs 1 min and he also lost
@@fivosliogas2127 yeah, and he also has great potencial, one thing doesn’t change the other 🤷🏽♂️
@@charly__ agreed
dude knocked the pieces over at the end when hikaru was in time trouble that’s lame
That ending had me jumping in excitement watching their minds rapidly race against the clock while correcting the falling pieces
This made me go back and watch Robert’s other game against Hikaru.
It's so weird to see Robert all grown up. What an amazing match, thanks for sharing!
The situation presented at 6:47 is not check mate. Both players have about 10 sec left. The Black king is no longer trapped as soon as the White Rook moves to g8. The black king is than free to move to d7. Also, Black could have moved the bishop from e2 to c4, to stop the Rook moving to g8. As a delay action.
One month on youtube, 174k views, from what i saw in the comments, only 2 other people noticed the game was not guaranteed to end in checkmate, and only 1 thumbs up between the 2.
After watching the video I was searching for someone else in the comments that noticed the king escape route...couldnt believe it was not a top comment.
White plays Rg8+ only if black plays Rd7. Any other move and Rc7+ is mate.
Great video! Thank you so much!
Well played gentlemen! Stellar game.
Inhuman speed with extreme accuracy. That is the bullet demon and king of blitz "Hikaru Nakamura "❤
Robert’s mannerisms and play seem so reminiscent of another Robert… the James Fischer variety. So bleeping good already.
yea there is "something" there reminiscent...
6:13 Hikaru super relaxed. That guy super stressed!
effing nuts!!!! i love this!!!!!! thank you for doing this for us!!!! thanks.
The music they play when the time scramble starts is so funny. Sounds like a action movie where the main character is being chased
All the drumming and blowing horns were getting me amped! *lol*
My God Robert! You're just AWESOME!
Well done with the music. I have never experienced such anticipation for a draw 😂❤🔥
It first I though there is a harbour near and a big ship was honking until I realized they added music
@@Puschit1 I though they were playing in Narnia!
Who started playing drums and blowing that horn at the end of their game?
Never seen a stronger challange for Hikaru since Robert showed up and gave us this superior game well done Robert 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love the addition of the drums near the end! That actually works!!
robert is really strong, hope to see him succeed in the future
The young dude at the end, after 06:05, he was moving his peices while hikaru was still playing.
By the time hikaru moved his hand to pass the time, the kid was already waiting and instantly passing the time to hikaru.
Not sure if this is legal but don't think its ok to play during your oponents turn.
Him having only 1 minute is a huge factor, i believe he would have seen the mate with more time, great game regardless
And to maintain rock solid focus even under what sounded like a Viking attack.
Love Robert's games!
It’s 5:1 time odds guys. Against an IM. Robert’s also a STRONG IM. 5:1 time odds. 5:1 time odds. Repeat after me. It’s practice. It’s not a win.
Don’t try to argue with the trolls they will always take you under the bridge.
The rules are stupid to make it become a dextery contest. I understand it for online games but for on the table games there should be a 2 seconds per move minimum when the time runs out.
Robert 🎣 er haha. Great game! I love how Hikaru gives severe time odds to every player. Dude it 🔥.
brilliant focus to get the draw by robert well done
The intense music was feel like being in war
Robert is such a bad-ass. Nice game, gents.
That is an old looking 17 yr old.
That was nuts!! Good game
I love that drums song at the end of the game, what song it is?
That music is so dank when it comes in.
GM in the making that ruthless Robert
This is the most intense game of chess I've seen
The last 3'' is how i play chess with my kid
That Hikaru guy should stream some time. He's a good player.
robert played for survival, hikaru played for the kill
Can someone please tell me where are they located?
I’d love to go watch live games. I know they are in Santa Monica but not exactly where
Great game gentlemen!!!!
Excellant jeu, bravo!
My mind is baffled beyond speechlessness. Absolutely mind-blowing, I'd imagine the booming voice of God would be comparable. But we all know there's no freaking way. This guy's got to be a Terminator in hiding or something.
Hikaru is the best chess player right now. Super humble and playing chess outdoors. Hope the best for his chess career.
hikaru and humble in the same sentence lol
@@goku445 I just came from the video where Hikaru roasts BotezSisters and GothamChess about them not ever going to win anything in Chess too 🤣 so this comment has me dying
Humble only if you look at the curated content on his own channel. And honestly even then it's debateble
You are a beast Hikaru.
This guy was putting up a ridiculous fight at 300pts lower rated! Nice speed chess and fast reading. However, we know Hikaru would hand him his ass in slow chess. These blitz and rapid formats are nice to display quick thinking. That's what I like about the variety.
As it ended on the board, and off the board, there are only kings here, gents
I really really Really REALLY LOVE EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE,but especially LOVE the chess community.
I am so proud to be in this ERA.”
calm down
The game was juicy
I'm not really understanding the missed checkmate. When you say white rook to g8, what is stopping black king to d7?
video reeks of accuracy in clutch time!
Hikaru vs Robert is THE battle
Fun to watch and lots to learn from these 2 great players. They move so fast it's hard at times to see what they see or what they don't see like Kb3 with unavoidable mate. Robert moved his rook behind the K-side pawns in the endgame and Hikaru immediately liquidated them. This also proves we don't need that constant blather that just takes away from good chess.
Nicely put JK !!
I can't believe that, 1 minute can do that.
Awesome job Robert !
That was fucking intense LOL
Haha the other one just blocked hikaru at the end xD
Are these Time Odds games? Also, is there increment?
Idk how someone even considers that a victory… When all the pieces are flying all over the place. I don’t even like Hikaru but he was at least putting the pieces on the board properly.. This dude Robert was chucking his pieces 😂🤣LOL
That was a fun game to watch.
your timer is also his timer. it looks like a handicap, but in practice, he knows what you're doing and while you decide moves, he's already thought of them, but on your time
6:45 For Black, why Rd7? d7 should be the Black king's escape square. I don't see a quick mate if Black did something different.
This is why I don't like playing without an increment over the board. I don't know why street players insist on playing without an increment. I guess it feels hardcore or whatever. The time scrambles at the end are always absurd. The pieces always get knocked over. At least make it a rule that if a piece is out of place when pressing the clock then it's a loss. Consider it an illegal move. Also the opponent shouldn't be able to start touching pieces until his clock is running.
"Ahhhhgh whatever" --Nakamura
Remember, only 1min for Nakamura vs 5
the over the top loud jungle drums at the end was 100% unnecessary
I’ll always watch a hikaru game but chess is just such a interesting game such as 5:34 His king is surrounded at a glance it’s GG but nah just part of the plays 😅😅
Amazing game!
at 6:07 neither time on their clocks moved, even though hikaru supposedly pressed it.
Hikaru is just a beast
Nice game 🙌
But I hope Robert won’t drop hikaru pieces next time
Chess can’t be played like that 😂
7:29 Can’t the white knight just check the black king on c6 allowing the white rook to take the black rook?
I really want to see Robert at the top I know he can
Fool looks just a hair shy of 37
Chess is mainstream again, mission complete
This was great
Lol the kid acting like he didn’t just get beat 😆
Awesome game.
I think you gotta have 1 sec increment always when playing OTB. This ending was really unsatisfying considering this great game. Pieces were flying and people moving on the opponents turn...
Bishop to c4 sir 6:48 you forgot sir. Still not checkmate
Tournament of power
That hikaru guy is pretty good
Robert has such sinister looking eyes 👀
That was wiiild!!
The explanation at the end is wrong lol. The mate is Rc7, not Rg8.
