I saw Hikaru use this exact same setup in another game on his stream recently. Best attack against Hikaru that I've seen on this channel. Hikaru laid traps along the way and he's so good at placing long-range snipers on the board. That and Paul had to spend a lot of time on tactics while Hikaru sees the tactics in milliseconds.
Bruh this is not even surprising. These grandmasters can beat like 3 dozen players blindfolded at the same time. 5-1 time advantage is nothing for hikaru.
Morphy Bob's fashion game is almost as strong as his chess. These old school chess masters know how to rock the anti-fashion genuine cool look. Relaxed, different and assured.
I love everything about this video. It gives hope to the mortal man, only for it to be snatched away. But seeing Bobs stunned reaction at the end - its like he cant believe it! Hikaru - "You were winning that game.." Bob - "Can we play again?" "Yeah yeah...can we play again?" lol.
I guess I'm a sucker for a lone pawn but I kept wondering why Bob didn't just take the pawn on h6. No way I would have ever gotten to that point if I was playing. Awesome game. I guess Hikaru won't be on this channel anymore now that he moved to Florida again. It's a treat to watch him play live games.
Hikaru investing back into the game of chess, great to see. And remember he had only one minute, although I notice that the great players are still analysing when their opponent is thinking.
of course. You're supposed to make full use of your opponent's time, always. Imagine how confident you'd be if you would end up predicting which move your opponent plays, and already have 3 possible responses and some educated calcuguesses ready when it's your turn.
He is definitely very good but people keep forgetting this is a 5 to 1 odds meaning that he would most likely never get a position like that vs a GM like Hikaru if they both have the same clock time.
5-1 time doesnt mean 5-1 odds. If you could wipe hikaru's brain every move it would be fair but he still thinks while youre thinking and much faster. A time advantage is only an advantage if you can surprise your opponent.
@@johnsterne178 Thinking on your opponents turn is not an advantage he is just a better player so obviously he makes calculations while the other player does. But during his turn he has to either make a fast calculation or response to a move he already predicted during the opponents turn. You mentioned that Carl would have seen pushing the H pawn in that position because of the way he plays, and I find that so interesting because you hear someone make a comment during the game like they saw a move. And then they were like, “Nevermind.” But it’s just funny how different people play differently. Bob got to this amazing position against Hikaru, a feat that Carl hasn’t done, but Carl could have finished the game lol maybe 2 players vs Hikaru would be possible
