    Meanwhile, on Hikaru's end:
    "Dr.Destiny, thanks so much for the prime, three months, thanks so much *draws seven arrows* now I've got the bastion and he can't beat this pony, if he takes I take, and Princess Fianchetto with seven gifted subs, thanks so much, seven gifted subs, okay g.g., on to the next game, let's play H4 for the memes, I had this exact game against a Russian GM nine years ago in Finland, I played f3 then which I thought was winning and I saved it in the endgame, but f4 was better, now I've got the wooden shield, did I blunder just then, no, he didn't see it, there was a seven move combo there with dese knights, but he missed it and now I'll just premove these next six moves, it's a forced line, okay resigns, g.g., onto the next one, thanks for the sub Wacky Tabacky, thanks so much, takes here and takes, and that's a free juicer, *draws nine arrows* so if he goes here, the pony jumps in here, family fork, then the bishop can slide in here, okay, he saw it, but now I've got this and this, create a passed pawn on the B file and push p, get the rook behind thanks to WallyIsWhere for the six month prime, thanks so much, did I just blunder that, no, he missed it again, I am just so bad at chess, so trade queens, takes and takes, this pawn will be enough to win, okay resigns g.g., let's go onto the next one..."

    Hikaru is the master of bullet chess because he knows how to improvise and survive with slightly worse positions. His knowledge of tactics and structures is so comprehensive that he basically knows how to play positions where the opponent, lacking a similar on-the-fly knowledge base, tends to be more inaccurate over the course of a game, giving Hikaru a slow but steady advantage in the end game.
    Hikaru is rightly called the king of defensive chess. Daniel Naroditsky is a top 150 player in the WORLD, and Hikaru just seems like he's on another level.

    So once in a while I think "Oh wow, i finally grasp the basics of the game, how nice."
    And then I see a GM doing this: 5:25
    And I'm immediatly reminded of how little I understand about chess.

      Yeah, it's a high level idea that one might come up with giving enough time, but "these guys" recognize immediately that there's no good way to break open the queen side and that the king side is about to get blown apart, so they run the king to safety and focus all the play on the other side of the board.
      There's a nice game that Ding Liren won against Magnus with the same idea- www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1981186

      If you go Nd6 I think the response is Qf6? hitting the knight and the a1 rook. Plus the knight was protecting the a7 rook. So I think it's just a blunder in the end, you end up trading rooks and losing the knight. OH wait, except then Qf6 Rxb7 actually :o ! I think that is winning indeed ???

    • @nickkazper
      @nickkazper Рік тому +5

      Same. I put it into an analysis board to see what stockfish would say and realized that if you take with bishop, black knight captures your queen since they are in check and puts pressure on your rook beside the king. White would have to respond to that and either mess up their kings defense to capture or move the rook and let black capture your bishop giving an advantage. I'm a new player so I may have butchered that explanation, but that's what I gathered.
