How to Crack Your SI Joints by Yourself
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 кві 2020
- Do your sacroiliac (SI) joints feel locked up and tight and it just feels like it needs to be released with a POP or CRACK?
In this video, Dr. Rowe shows you how to crack your SI joints by yourself AT HOME.
If you’re dealing with achy SI joints, you’re definitely not alone. In today's world, it's hard not to be hunched forward, especially with prolonged sitting. Think using cell phones, computers, driving, or sitting at the desk... the list goes on and on.
This forward bending puts a lot of strain on our lower back, notably the sacrum and pelvis. Since the SI joints are the connecting spots of these and where motion occurs, it's a hot spot for many issues like joint and muscle pain and stiffness.⠀
Why these self adjust exercises are so effective is due to release pressure in the sacroiliac joints QUICKLY and SAFELY, to the point where it puts motion back into those locked up joints.
Also, since it helps release pressure quickly, which may give us the pop or crack we’re looking for!
They’re safe, effective, easy to do and can be done at home. So WATCH now and get your SI joints reset and feeling better!

20 years of on and off pain. I’ve been locked up for a few days from all the sitting. Your videos help more than anything else I have tried! Thank you so much!
It really makes my day hearing things like this. I'm glad you found this channel and it's made all the difference. Thanks for watching!
IT POPPED! Finally! thank you so much. It had been wanting to pop for a few days now. I even felt a little rotated when standing up straight. Now the irritation can finally stop. Thank you
Great to hear you’re getting relief, and thanks for watching!
How are you doing, now?
OMG..... Thank You!
This has helped tremendously. I was scheduled to have my last injection just before my dr. cancelled all appts for injections because of what’s going on. My insurance wouldn’t pay for therapy. The constant pain has devastated me.
The first time i made the joint pop i was not in pain for 2 days!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for the work that you do
That's AWESOME! Glad to be of help.

@@guywelch656 what does that have to do with anything 😂😂
Where is your pain? Does it spread laterally across your glutes to the hip?
Did the injections helped at all? I have been popping my SI for almost 10 years now after trauma to my hip.
Every 3 months or so my SI joint gets out of alignment causing a crippling pain in my left SI joint. I Didn't hear any pops or cracks, but had instant relief when I stood back up. Thank you!
Glad to hear you got instant relief, and thanks for watching!
I've had trouble with my SI joint for many years. While I didn't feel a crack when I did these exercises (I think my bed is too soft), I definitely felt the bones move and was able to walk without pain as soon as I stood up. I'll definitely keep doing these exercises. Thanks sooooo much!
Wonderful! Thanks so much for watching.
Dig your time showing us out here how important it is to keep it loose. Thank you for unveiling some simple secrets!
I have been in pain all day and even crying on and off because of it. Wasn't hardly able to move because of a pinched nerve. I tried these exercises and while I didn't get a satisfying pop I'm actually able to move around a lot better now and I'm not in as much pain! I was super skeptical but it actually works if you're having issues with your SI joint. Thank you so much for this video! It's super informative and you explained how to do the exercises in a simple and easy to understand way. Seriously made my night so much better!
Glad you found the video, and thanks for watching!
After doing this, there was just much relief I almost fell asleep. Thank you.
That's fantastic. Glad to hear you got quick relief, and thanks for watching!
Found this randomly searching after my partner appearred to be suffering sciatica. I was showing him my own self adjustment techniques & searched online for more. Quite a find was your channel, thanks!. Daughter of a chiropractor myself & I was surprised to see you are in St. Joe, MI. My sister & her family lives there. 😄
Small world! Thanks so much for watching.
Didn’t have any pops but felt instant relief and feels easier to move around ..Thankyou I’m going to do these regularly 👍💫
Hope the exercises help for a long time to come, and thanks for watching!
I found if after doing the exercises it doesn’t pop stand up and make slow circles with your hips while leaning forward and backwards. Finally did the trick for me
Watched most of your videos and find relief right away. The knife on the knee technique was the best shared it with a few of my friends. Thanks for the videos
Thanks so much for watching and sharing, we appreciate it!
Amazing! Thank you, went through all exercises and felt a deep pop in my left si joint doing the last one. Will definitely continue to do these
It's good to hear the exercises are working for you. Thanks for watching!
I did the last one and with my legs still up rested my knees down, with my heels together and got the deepest pop in my hip phew. Needed that. Thanks!
Glad it helped, and thanks for watching!
I have had 3 days of hellish pain. I cannot believe how well this worked. Thank you so much.
Glad it helped!
I can't believe this worked! I have had sharp SI pain for months. I've tried several different exercises but this is the first one that worked.
Glad you found this video and it helped. Thanks for watching!
Didn’t crack but it helped the pain! Thank you!!!
Main thing is it helped relieve pain, and thanks for watching!
I'm binging on your self-adjustment videos. Thank you for the great tips for some self-home care in between my regular chiropractor visits. Subscribed on your channel and liked on all the videos.
You're the BFF my joints have always wanted!
Thanks so much for the sub, and I hope the exercises help for a long time to come!
THIS is the very one I needed Doc. At 57, and working hard, my lower back gives me fits. Bless you for doing all you do for us. 🙏❤️
Happy to help, and thanks for watching!
So I've had this back pain for a few days now probably since Monday, the massage chair in my work with the air seemed to help but then I came home and did these exercises today and while they didn't pop my back I definitely have some relief
I love this channel, it really helped me a lot!
Glad you found the channel too, and thanks for watching!
Thanks Dr. Rowe! I find self-release techniques for the SI joint to be particularly helpful. I never realized how much trouble the SI joint would cause going into my late 30's.
I'm 25 with SI joint dysfunction. I was mainly watching to know the safe/proper way to pop my si joint. I mainly lat flat on my back and clench but rear and lower back (as hard as I can for about 3-5 seconds) and I can usually get it to pop. But it's good to know a better way too.
This is what I do. Is this safe/good to do??
@@Cateyejess18 🤷 I still do it so idk.
Thanks Dr. Rowe, very helpful, so simple yet effective,, you made my day.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
I can pop my SI joints in a couple of ways and sometimes they are pretty loud, especially the right one. My fiance cringes so hard because he didn't realize there's joints right there, he thought it was just something I can do because of my scoliosis. I showed him this video and he said "So THAT'S what you've been doing! Well that explains a lot..." XD we both busted up laughing at that point. I know it's not exactly related to the topic but thanks for clearing that up for us! XD
I have had issues since delivery my 9.9 lb child in a posterior position 28 years ago. I have had many adjustments, shoe lifts and PT. I am exhausted from trying to heal this, but I am going to do these exercises and fix this myself at home. I have just finished 2 months of PT to strengthen and stabilize and several chiropractic adjustments but was hurting just as much. So I am starting these today and sure hoping for some relief. Thank for sharing!
Please give us an update soon.
Any better?
I got no pop but immediately felt relief from the pain of just standing or walking. I have a PT appointment but its 2 weeks out.
I had my knee hurting right before my date today. This came in CLUTCH for the long walk.
Glad to hear that, and thanks for watching!
I was already doing this having no idea i was cracking my si joint lmao
What is the physiological benefit to cracking joints? And why does it feel so good after when done correctly?

I did the exercises but didn't get a pop/crack. After that (while still lying in the bed) I pulled my knee to my chest and got an instant pop on the si joint. I got excited and stood up, tried to stretch my leg randomly and got another pop and I think the pain is gone now. Thank you very much! I've been struggling for a few days it was really uncomfortable.
Thanks so much for watching!
The last one work really good😂😂🤝
Thank you so very much; things popped into place, my pain is gone and I can move again. I had a bad fall of my horse some years ago and I finally feel that everything is in the right place again. Cried some very happy tears...

Glad you found the channel, and I hope the exercises help you for a long time to come!
Yup this worked a little thank you, still getting into the chiropractor, he turns me into a pretzel the jumps on my pelvis get a load pop and I’m good for 3 months
Glad to hear it helped!
Wow! Great stuff. I immediately felt relief in the exact same parts of the video where u did. Not a loud knuckle-crack pip, but like ballpoint-pen-sounding click. Thank you!
Glad you’re getting immediate relief, and thanks for watching!
Helped alot and a have a broken ankle thanks
I was about to skip the video on the 3rd exercise after no benefit but i thought let's check out last one and actually it worked
Glad you watched all of the video and found an exercise that helps. Thanks for watching too!
I have popped my SI joints numerous times for instant relief and will try and explain how. It’s by stretching the same muscle this shows but I find it much more effective. I stand up in front of a table, chair, or bed that is somewhere around waist high. I put my leg up on it straight out in front of me like I’m stretching my hamstring. After stretching my hamstring, I will lean down try and grab my foot/ankle that is still on the floor. I let my leg that is up on the chair/table/bed stay extended, but I allow it to twist 90 degrees. This stretches the muscle on the inside of my growing/leg and I press my leg that is up against the table/chair/bed and it will pop the joint.
Thanks for the videos, from England. Chiropractic methods have always interested me.
Thank you for watching!
Maybe u could get a career in it one day? Or best thing is u could do it to ur friend or ur self bc u know what to do!
1 new exercise added from last si video🙏 🎉 thanx sir
This is my first UA-cam comment. But I just had to comment and tell you it’s 3:00 am I’m in so much pain I was going to cry found this video and I’m still laying here shook I never found this before. I have chronic back pain and I feel so much better right now I’m literally in shock. Thank you for this!!
I'm really, really glad you found this video and it helped. Sleep better!
Can you make video for self elbow adjustment? I have lika a crack in my elbow when im doing push ups.
You have amasing videos!
I don't have one for the elbow, but you can give this a try: ua-cam.com/video/WCvIAlokUNY/v-deo.html
I have the same do you know what it is?
It helped a lot. After a couple weeks of stiffness and pain, I feel better. Not 100% yet, but better. Thank you!
I didn't get a pop but I feel better. I don't think a pop is essential to feeling better. It is more the sound of gas releasing.
Glad to hear the pain is improving, keep at them!
After almost 2 years of pain. Relief finally! Incorporating this into my daily routine
Fantastic, and I hope the exercises help for a long time to come!
Didn't realise how tiring the effort is to do these! It's hard work!
Hope the exercises help, it's worth it in the end!
Thank you very much for all your great videos. Very clear instructions and video angles.

This is a good one. 👍 Got a nice release with the first one.
The second part I do with assistance as it's easier with someone else fist. If you know what I mean.
Thanks. 👍
Glad it helped, and thanks for watching!
Amazing! Thank you so so much have always had a pain there for a long time and tried lots of different things but to no avail. The second exercise made my joints crack on both sides. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thanks so much for watching!
My hip is STUBBORN and after doing all these stretches it is still hurting and has now become full blown sciatica. Your videos are normally very helpful and eased my pain. I don't know why it won't adjust back in.
I am having the same problem. How can that Chiropractor get so many pops and I can’t get one.
This sacroilitis It just seems to be a phantom injury or situation of just being on Earth over six decades. I tried these things and nothing happens absolutely nothing but it was the first time today, so I'll keep trying them thank you Doc!
Worked like a Charm! Thanks & God Bless 🙏🏾
Glad the exercises helped, and thanks so much for watching!
I discovered I could pop one of mine one day while driving. I actually just clinch my glute and arch my back at the same time and it’ll pop.
YES SAME THANK YOU I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO EXPLAIN THIS
I bought a folding massage table for about $110. Best money ever spent...bought it because of difficulty getting up from the floor. Didn't even think about all the hanging OFF of it that I would do. Plus, it keeps me up and away from my dogs trying to lick me to death! LOL! Thanks so much for this particular video. Really helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you this really helped. The first exercise released the tight spot right away! I will definitely add these to my tool belt.
Hope the exercises help for a long time to come, and thanks so much for watching!
Hi doc, if they do not get better after the first adjustment, how many sets and repetitions would you recommend and for how many days ? If they do get better after doing the first adjustment, should they be continued and what should be the frequency ? Thanks so much !
Short and to the point! Thank you 🙏
How they should be, thanks for watching!
Helped me immediately. Amazing

When I do the 3rd and 4th stretch, when let the pressure off I get a super sharp pain. Hoping to get your thoughts on that. Thanks!
where’s the pain
I pushed through it.. and I feel amazinggggggggg!!!!!!! Thank youuuuuu ... im brand new... and I've been trying to figure it out for quite sometime
Great to hear! Thanks for watching.
How often si joints need reset?
How do we know if we have to do it again?
You shouldn't need to release your SI joint unless you have SI joint pain... For me, it is one-sided pain just left or right of center in my low back, felt only when I bend forward. I believe most people don't experience SI joint pain.
Appreciate this, thank you
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
Instant relief, thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much I have a rod and pins in my femur that goes from my knee to my hip I have suffered discomfort while standing for long periods after doing this I felt so relieved I almost fell down 👍 thank you so much
Wonderful to hear you’re getting a lot of relief, and thanks for watching!
No matter how hard I try, I just can’t get any of these to work
Bro i cnt even crack my fingers, let along joints 😂
@Matthew Williford Mine don't make a noise when they release but I can test to see if theyre moving again. I do my own version of how my osteo tested my spine with a finger each side and bending forwards - I put my hands behind my back with my index fingers straight so they meet in the middle then bend forward. I can tell if they stay together or if one goes up and the other doesn't... its too hard to explain in words!
@@marinasourke8986 how to prevent them from poping out? Strenghten muscles around pelvis?

I tried the first one and I got a click. wow! thanks man!
Glad it helped!
I use a back roller (foam, not hard plastic) starting down on the joints, and roll the roller down onto my glutes, and sometimes I twist my back a bit, and then they pop. They really aren't supposed to pop in the first place, but I loosened them with improper muscle tension while deadlifting heavy. Did this a few times, and each time there was unbearable pain for a week that made getting into and out of vehicles extremely difficult. I never deadlift more than 225 now, and keep my legs and lower back properly positioned. This was ages ago, but now they do pop, sometimes even if I just roll over in bed, so getting them to pop back is handy, feels good.
Interesting. Thanks for watching!
Hey man having the same issue with deadlifting. How did you fix your form what were you not doing before? I try to keep my back straight.
@@Guthero I just try to keep the muscles in my lower back properly tensioned so that things don't move around, and I'm careful about how heavy I go. I've been working back up to 3 plates, but I always concentrate on my lower back.
@@td3993 Mmm okay thanks a bunch for the reply man did not expect you to actually reply to a 5 months old comment haha. And are you deadlifting conventional or sumo? Im kind of thinking my SI joint on my right side is a little hinky because of the hip thrusts ive recently started doing.
@@Guthero I do both. Sumo is supposed to better for SI joints.
wow this really helped instantly
Glad to hear that, and thanks for watching!
Wow I bet a lot of chiros on you tube ain't a fan of these tips.
Thank you for the self relief tips. I tried chiros. They good for little fixes. But with major problems, you could be with them for life getting consistent adjustments.
I felt the more he cracked me, the more it was getting pulled back out easier. Funny how I just gave up on chiros and I get a random video for self relief.
Nothing popped when I tried the different moves you demonstrated, but my lower back did feel better :)
I wish I’d known these movements when I had extreme pain in my SI joints and no-one was able to help me. I went to a physio, and also my GP. Neither of them helped me, I was five weeks flat on my back suffering extreme pain.
Recently I had sciatica, same result. No help from the medical profession, five weeks again before I could comfortably stay out of bed for a few hours at a time.
I know the cause of my bone problems……25 years on a low dose of prednisone for PMR which I cannot shift, although I believe most people grow out of it in a year or two.
Now my body is riddled with osteoarthritis. Just as well I’m in my 80s, so not too many years left to live
i’m so scared to do this. but the comments look great. i’m gonna do it !! thxxxx
Hope the exercises help, please give us an update soon!

Great to hear it worked, and thanks for watching!
What worked for me after these excessive was stretching my pelvic bone (think like how you change a baby ) then bringing my legs to table top and then straightening/ lowering my leg (the side that needed to be popped) so that it was parallel to the floor. Popped right away. Also was on a coffee table
Please make a video on how to correct an uneven hip

Yes yes yes, i could pop these joints but i couldnt find how Its Calles😁

Great exercises ❤😊
Not sure if anything released or not. Felt no crack or pop. My chiro says they are locked up, but it happens so much. First time I tried the last exercise my left thigh went into a big spasm. I am guessing that means my muscles are just very weak from too much sitting due to pain in back and hips. I have scoliosis and a botched lower back surgery. I appreciate all your videos!
I’ve had problems with my SI joint in the past on my right side.
Today my left ankle twisted while I was walking and I went to self correct and felt a terrible pop in my left buttock and dropped to the floor. I thought it was my SI on this side now. However I have incredible pain trying to do these exercises.
What could it be?
You probably didn't crack all the way through.
Thank you for these - I've been practicing quite a bit of the different positions/maneuvers to help relieve pain. Suggestion for future videos: could you purchase a small model skeleton or a poster showing us some of the areas that we are attempting to target? I'm a photographer and visual learner and it's helpful (even though I know the technical terminology of the body part you are referencing) to see an example on a body form. Thanks and great content!
Thank you for the suggestion!
DUDE!!! No pop...BUT!!! after the exercises, (10 minutes after) laying on my bed, I had my left foot on my bed flat with a bent knee, opened the leg, with hip, that needed to get popped(the right hip) opened with a kinda loose open butterfly with foot kinda down, and pelvic thrusted (slowly)and got the huge pop I needed that was lingering. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE. Sure as hell it helped me.
Main thing is to help improve joint function and mobility. Hope the exercises exercises help for a long time to come. Thanks for watching!
I can never get it to pop this way. However, for years I get this stuck feeling in my SI area (base of spine/top of iliac crest), so I strongly contract my glutes, usually while sitting down, and hear a loud pop and feel *much* relief. It's only temporary though. Am in so much pain, all the time, in my SI joint, lumbar, psoas and erector spinae.
Good reminders
Wow!! Its very helpful. Thnx dude
Thanks so much for watching!
No pops for me. Wondering if I am doing something wrong. This sucks still having a hard time moving. Will keep trying. Did physical therapy fore core strength. Finished that. Am continuing exercises then it goes out. Might have to have go back just to have them pop my sacroiliac back in place. This sucks
Ty for this video, walking to work daily puts a lot of strain and the pop I got from your stretch was just what I needed
Thanks for watching!
Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Now I know what was the reason for the pain. For years, I would just lay flat, and pinch my bums, or strech my legs out en cross one ankle over the other and pinch my bum, then it pops, and the pain goes away.
Just gave this a try and not sure what’s wrong with my SI joint but when I do the very last exercise I feel shooting pain rather than relief, so annoying 😢
thank you for this
I think its my SI thats been bugging me (very low back on my left side) and ive tried these as well as a few other lower back exercises and havent found any that made me crack. Im young and bendy so most of the stretches dont seem to do much. Are there any other things i can try that are a bit more high impact?
Same dude I play football and I had this rlly rainy game and somone slipped fell on top of me lower back hasent been the same since
Ur moms Mom u should see a doctor bro
Im not really able to get a pop. Any advice?
Hey doc. I don’t know if this is anything. You have anything exercise for men 6’4 who have knocked knee?
Are you looking for something to help relieve knee pain? I have something for that: ua-cam.com/video/f84BPiQr_kU/v-deo.html
SpineCare Decompression and Chiropractic Center thank you doc!
Hmm.. sometimes when I stretch in bed, I squeeze my knees together while pushing my feet down and my hips pop like this.
I'm guessing this is a healthier way to do that, because my way usually takes a lot of force and causes a but of pain after.
Wierd that I accidentally found a wrong way to do the exact stretch I was looking for because of my new OneWheel stiffness and soreness. Lol
Thank you!
