This is awesome for my situation as I have been “winging it” with stretches for a while because of chronic lower back pain. I think my muscles have atrophied over the last 10 plus years, as this is how long it’s been going on. 7 months ago I started hard core meat only diet (ruminate meats) and I have reduced my weight from 339lb (154kg) to 229lb (104kg). I’m 53yo, 6ft male and need to frequently rest in bed due to this pain being extreme whenever I do anything and it gets way worse the more I push myself. Stretching does give short term (sometimes very short term relief). Planing on swimming, riding my bike (which I used to love), and walk. Mowing the lawn really knocks me around. Anyway, I have reversed several metabolic diseases: sleep apnea, prediabetes, hospital functional liver test showed I was on the verge of cirrhosis, hypertension. Only drink water. Major depressive disorder with suicidal thoughts reduced to mild depression (thanks to my pain). Feeling much more positive than I have for a long time. Keen to get back to work. Any exercises that can help strengthen L2 to Sacrum area? This area seems to be very weak. I get a lot out of your simple but effective and well communicated exercises. It’s my favourite channel, even ranking higher than Bob and Brad which is very good too. So congratulations, your content is top notch:)
Hey Doc, I have a suggestion/request. So I don't spend a lot of time in my car but when I'm able to I door dash and Uber eats because money is tight. Anyway, like I said don't spend a lot of time in the car but the time I am driving can feel like an eternity when I'm in pain. And not being able to find a pillow or position or anything that is comfortable for more than 5 minutes im sure isn't helping the situation in my back hip and legs in general. I know I can't be the only 1 afflicted with this problem is there any way you could please make a video addressing how to sit properly while driving? And follow up requests: can you show how not to sit while driving in the video as well? Please? I appreciate you Doc!!!
I have hyper flexibility and it really hurts in my right hip. I'm gonna try these stretches , hopefully giving me some relief. Have a happy n safe new year.
I am 80 years old. I have this hip pain for almost 2 years. I have tried heat, cold, acupuncture ,chiropractor even tens unite. NONE of them work until about a week ago I came across this video. I only tried one exercises ( sitting down and place one leg on top of the other into a so call " 4 " configuration. Then pull the knee towards the opposite shoulder. I did it twice a day each time 25 counts. Guess what----today I am pain free. Thank you Dr. Rowe for your valuable video.
Stiff and tight causes pain. So glad you were able to help heal yourself! It just goes to show We should all be stretching our bodies so they can work like they are supposed to😀
Where have you been for the last 10 years living with hip pain? Been to doctors, injections, therapy and had my nerves burned. But this video has helped me so much. I do this everyday. Thank you keep doing what your doing because your helping us with demobilizing pain.
Dr Rowe, thank you so much for caring about suffering people. Finding your videos online was an answer to a prayer for me. I'm in a lot of pain on a daily basis from both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Added to that is recent hip and leg pain on right side which causes further disablement. I'm on painkillers for years which no longer work. I've prayed for help to endure and then I came across your channel by a fluke. I now have hope again and your exercises have given me a sense of control over my disease. I cannot thank you enough for the relief and hope your videos have given me. Keep up the good work and may Jehovah God bless you always. Best wishes from Ireland.
I knew that I had tight hips, but I had no idea how tight they were until after doing these exercises for about a week my hip literally popped back into its proper position. In fact, when it happened, I almost fell down. All I can say is if you believe and do them You may get results like mine. Now I feel so limber I almost consider it as a miracle. All I can say is thank you so much for posting this.
Thank you for making these videos to help relieve pain by stretching. These videos help so many people, including me. Thank you. I really appreciate it.
Am a long time runner; added drop handle endurance cycling to my diet; as expected the upper body weakness started showing up. Neck and shoulder blade area are the toughest to tackle. Exercises recommended by your esteemed self have been super helpful in calming and strengthening the kinks. Thank you Dr Rowe.
What a timely video! Atypical for me, had pain in my right hip while trying to sleep last night. 68 YO female, low BMi, stretches a lot, walks, cycles. Thought it might be more joint related but while doing the exercises you showed, could feel exactly where the tightness was. Was wondering why, at least for the past several months, if I was lying on my side ( while sleeping) and hubby hit my butt cheek, it was extremely tender, almost ticklish. Just to brush across it! Next time I see my chiropractor. I will have him work on these muscles. I had zero idea tight muscles in an area could cause hip pain. The Back I understand, but new to me about the hip. Thanks so much for sharing - things are better almost immediately after performing all the exercises. The foot over the opposite leg, while lying down, and pulling knee, seemed to uncover the most tightness.
Dr. Rowe, this is the BEST video you have made! You were a little slower in your speech and movements and it was much easier to follow you. Wow! I have a lot of work to do. I'm so weak. Thanks again.
Thank you Dr. Rowe. These exercises hurt so good. This is not only good for any age bracket but seniors like me it is extremely beneficial. You are the best. ❤😊
Happy new year to a wonderful colleague in Chiropractic. You are an amazing example of a true leader, healer and selfless in service. You are honorable, and trustworthy. It does my heart good to find such a brother chiropractor out there in the world. many thanks for all you do tirelessly to educate your patients, the public, and me😂❤️
I really thank you so much Doctor. I suffer a lot from sciatic nerve pain, after following your simple stretch exercises I feel more pain less now a days...... Thank you so much and God bless you with all Wealth and Health for the service your doing......
Thank you Dr. Rowe. Very well demonstrated and clearly narrated. The exercises really worked for me. Much appreciated. You are the best and we are blessed !
I bookmarked this video yesterday and tried the stretches this morning. I've suffered with agonizing hip and back pain for three solid months. It was horrible. I could barely walk. After the stretches I did this morning, I felt almost no pain! I'll repeat the stretches tonight and tomorrow morning and then it's back to my hiking trail which I abandoned many weeks ago. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you so very much for these! I have DDD and had been going to physical therapy but had to stop for now (money issues), and I miss my sessions. These will help me I know because I tried them along with you and felt such a good stretch! Thanks again and God bless. 💜🙏🏼💜
Thank you for helping me with several issues I have with my body. A question: I did all these stretching exercises last night and during the night I couldn’t sleep due cramps in my hips and legs. Is that a normal effect? I have had issues with my left snapping hip for very long time.
Muscle cramping after exercising is normal (especially if the muscles are weak). There's other things that may cause them too, such as dehydration and an electrolyte imbalance. If it is due to your body adjusting to a new exercise, you should notice the cramping getting less and less going forward. Hope this helps and THANK YOU for supporting the channel! - Dr. Rowe -
Thank you for inquiring. I have been managing my pain quite well until about 2 months ago, but then « forgot » about those exercises. Your message reminded me to start again. Been in pain for almost a year now off and on and these exercises are starting to relive that, and I also sometimes get a popping release sound and make it feel better
Just finished the exercise right by now and could feel all the muscles you mentioned really burning . It’s amazing how 15 mins can really change things. Thank you doc.

You are the best PT, Dr Rowe. Your no nonsense videos are easy to follow and your easygoing mannerism makes you a great instructor. I watched all your videos and I can’t do all the exercises but there’s enough for everyone at all fitness levels. Keep up the good work. Thanks so much.
Thanks Dr. Rowe. These exercises are great & helpful. Really feeling them. Not only are they helpful in stretching the muscles but also strengthening them. 👍

Thank you so much for these suggestions. I’ve suffered increasing with hip pain after multiple hip surgeries and have become more inactive, which hasn’t helped. But I feel so much relief from these stretching exercises. There is hope for my relentless pain relief!
Your videos are so clear, to the point and balanced with a clear, precise tone. Most of all they are so useful and can help many people avoid what could be unneccessary surgeries.
Yes!!!!!!!! That’s where I hurt soooooo badly. I exercise to what helps. Now I have the perfect exercise to do. Injection helped but not for long. I needed to stretch and strengthen. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this pain relieving video. I had an acute muscle spasm in my left hip five days ago and I’m just getting to where I can move enough to do some exercises. Did your video today and I feel so much better and will repeat it later today. Thank you so very much for this easy to understand and put into application video. I am very grateful for the pain relief.

A perfectly timed video! Thanks, Dr. Rowe. Do you have a guess as to why, when I do the rocking happy baby side-to-side, I feel a lot of tenderness/pain at the level of the iliac crest when I rock onto that side?
You're a blessing to me today. Your video popped into my feed. Been struggling with right hip/thigh burning muscle pain for a week. Did all your exercises right away. I'm sure it's going to help! Thank you!!
I love how clearly you enunciate and your instructions are easy to understand. You also do a great job of identifying the muscle that is being released. You have helped me sleep better by reducing pain. Thank you!

Thanks Doc! So glad this popped up, I’ve been having such hip pain. I have a lot of joint pain everywhere, so figured it’s hip arthritis or bursitis, but after watching am thinking it’s maybe tight hip muscles from back pain. I see I’ve already subscribed, so must have enjoyed a previous video. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge- and Happy New Year! 🎉💕
Thank you Dr. I have used all your videos for back pain and muscles , and they have helped tremendously. Your relaxed style of presentation is very soothing. I enjoyed every moment. God bless
Dr.Rowe, you're an angel. I've had back pain since I was 30 years old. Now it's my left hip from extensive lifting. You are helping me so much. Thank You !
These are great hip exercises, but when I cross my leg and when I bring my knee up to the opposite shoulder, I have pain on the inside of my hip like in the growing area. But that last exercise was getting right where the pain was hurting.
Thank you!!!!!! You are the best period. Just had my SI Joint lock up and was adjusted twice which brought much relief but now I need your instructions to maintain. Perfect! And so easy to incorporate. Have a great day Doc!! 😊

Thank you so much! …I’ve been crippled with this pain for days, especially when I coughed or sneezed…now after the first exercise instant relief…again I can’t thank you enough…
Thank you so much for these videos. I have narrowing of the hip joint on my right hip. Degenerative joint disease. The pain is there every day. I will be doing these exercises, hoping to get some relief.
A great video, thank you. I recently had pain in my left hip. Am 83. Practice golf almost daily at an indoor range and try to play twice a month, budget not allowing more. Have viewed your videos for mystery pains down my lower right leg last year that appear to have been piriformis related, and they helped a lot. Also had a severe pain attack in the right knee that turned out to be caused by age related wear and tear on the inner and outer meniscus discs. Saw an orthopedic surgeon about arthroscopic surgery, but learned from You Tube research that while 20 years ago they did surgery at the drop of a hat, the latest thinking is that surgery is not recommended for older people because old tissues may not hold sutures and any removal of disc tissue can create gait and balance issues and leads to wear of the cartilage protecting the knee and osteoarthritis. So opted for physical therapy including strengthening exercise. Pain and swelling went away, though I am aware of occasional pops. Oddly enough, while I still had some tenderness in the knee I tripped and fell, landing on both knees and one elbow and wrist. Felt stupid, got up and dusted myself off. Worried I might have caused new damage. But no, in fact all the tenderness went away and in fact my knee felt totally cured !! Maybe I discovered a new therapy. 😂 Anyway, your videos helped with the right lower leg pain. Then the recent pain in the hip was also a weird mystery. It seemed to be internal which made me worry since I had a colon cancer operation in 2015. Or was it kidney pain? If muscular it felt like it had to be something connected to the Iliac crest. Nothing I had had before. Looking at illustrated anatomy of the hip muscles on the Internet, the only thing I could see that it might be was the Gluteus Medius. Not the Piriformis or Psoas muscles that so often seem to be the culprits. And not Sciatica as no pain down the leg. And if so, it had to come from some golf swing changes I was trying out that changed shifting weight on to me left leg and turning the left hip. I wasn’t sure what to do, but in a few days it went away by itself. Then suddenly your video turned up on my You Tube, and bingo, there it was clear as daylight from your illustration of the three gluteus muscles. And there was your red pain location illustration right on the iliac crest. And your second stretch and comment at minute 3:00 that it works on the Gluteus Medius which is in your words “probably the biggest instigator of hip pain and tightness.” Again, bingo ! Even though pain is gone I will do your exercises. Thank you.

Thank you for such simple yet effective stretches! You’re a true human being to bring such help to so many. I’d love to know if you have any stretches to relieve a tight jaw.
Doc, you are my hero!!! You know I'm desperate to do anything I can to stay out of pain management. (I have nothing against pain management. It is a very helpful resource and tx for pain) For me tho, it's the beginning of the end and I'm not ready yet. But legit, this past month my hip and slipped disks about had me pounding down their door several times. I even said last night that I've got to figure something out till I get in to see the new doctor in 3 months because this pain and limited mobility is for the birds. Lol. Mind you when I said this I had no idea what I was going to figure out but I knew I had to and it turns out I barely had to put any effort into it because you uploaded this video literally less than 12 hours after I said that. And the best part is... all of these stretches and exercises work!!!! You saved me again Doc! I am eternally grateful! And once again, TY FOR THE UPLOAD!
I will try this for my cranky, stiff hip joint and lower back pain. We have possible snow headed our way next week so it will be a stay home time for me, perfect for doing a little stretching! Thanks!!
Great video. I have routinely been doing hip flexor and glutes stretching strengthening exercises very similar to these so shall try yours for variety. I could feel my glutes and hip flexors firing watching you demonstrate them. Many thanks Dr Rowe. HNY to you.
This is just what I need. Although at this time I will not be able to get down on the floor to do those exercises - BUT will work toward that goal. At 72 and not being active due to being a caregiver for my husband...I have not focused on my own health. Now it's catch up time. So thank you for this segment.
Dear dr. Rowe. I am so thankful that you posted a short video re painful piriformis. I had a very painful case on my right side more than a month ago. I was referred to physical therapy, but none of the recommended treatments worked for me. I am overweight, 70 years old. Got myself into this trouble by sleeping on my left side and sitting for long time. I was able to do your exercise and felt better after doing just one set. My body responded very well to your exercise. My right leg is overall week. I broke and fractured my right ankle and few years later i was hit by a car on my right thigh as a pedestrian. I also have problem walking up the stairs, because of these injuries. Could you recommend any of your videos re this issue, what could be helpful, considering my age and big body. I am working on losing weight😉All the best to you!☮

You give such great support. Thank you for helping us help ourselves 😊

I can’t complement you enough on yes tutorial to reduce hip pain. I have tried so many different videos, and yours is clearly the most intelligent and effective halfway through this video, I was experiencing a much greater reduction in my hip pain. I can’t thank you enough.🙏👍💪
Thank you!!
Thank you 🙏 😊 So helpful. I’ve been having some pain in my right side. I’m going to try these exercises. 🙏🙏🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love how clearly you enunciate and your instructions are easy to understand. You also do a great job of identifying the muscle that is being released.
You have helped me sleep better by reducing pain. Thank you!
I love your exercises, demonstrations and descriptions, from this video and at least one other of yours. My hip pain is way down and groin pain is gone. Thanks.
Glad the exercises are helping you!

The Midwestern Musculoskeletal Magician delivers again. Thanks very much for this and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! 🎊🎆
Thank you for producing these videos. I'm a 53 year old dance fitness instructor for 24 Hour Fitness. I'm beginning to feel pain in my hips (I guess it's part of aging). Your tips have been super helpful. I'm subscribing. Thank you!
Thanks to give us good exercise to keep the body healthy and strong.
For 30 yrs I have been told that my pain was due to disc problems pinching the sciatic. Thru PT (again) She has been working on these muscles because I tell her where the pain is. I've actually had some relief. So surprised! Your videos are awesome and they complement my PT'S work. I have hope again! Thank you so much for helping me.
Thank you so much always needed this because I normally get this right hand hip pain now this exercise will help me
Thank you so much 💓
I knew there were stretches and exercises I could do to help myself through this hip pain
Thank you for showing me how to accomplish this. I am grateful.
Happy New Year! 🎉
Thank you Dr. I have used all your videos for back pain and muscles , and they have helped tremendously. Your relaxed style of presentation is very soothing. I enjoyed every moment. God bless
Diagnosed with sciatica for the holidays. Very thankful for this and your other videos!
I cannot do some of these either. I have abdominal/pelvic adhesions and any pulling or twisting can create intense pain. I then suffer for hours.
Thank you. I just finished both parts of this routine. There is a difference! I will begin to do this twice a day.
Thank you for this video, I hope these exercises make my pain go away. Happy New Year!
Please give us an update soon and Happy New Year!
Good evening Dr. Rowe. Thank you so much for giving us a different kind of paths to improve our health.
I don't usually comment, but quite a few of these really helped a lot! Thanks so much!
Glad it helped!

As always your exercises are awesome.. thank you Dr Rowe
Thank you so much for these videos. I have narrowing of the hip joint on my right hip. Degenerative joint disease. The pain is there every day. I will be doing these exercises, hoping to get some relief.
Thank you for as always consistently great instruction, ideas and advise. Happy New Year with less pain to all.
Happy New Year!
Thank you.
So appreciate you and your videos. Much thanks and Happy New Year
Happy New Year!

Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year!
@@DrRowe Happy New Year to you as well!🍾🎉🎇

Happy New Year!
This is just what I need. Although at this time I will not be able to get down on the floor to do those exercises - BUT will work toward that goal. At 72 and not being active due to being a caregiver for my husband...I have not focused on my own health. Now it's catch up time. So thank you for this segment.
Instant relief ! Been in agony for best part of two years. I think i love you . 😂
Dear dr. I am working on losing weight😉All the best to you!☮
Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for these exercises, they help me a lot in my hip pain. Your explanations are very clear.
