Thank you! Yes - I try to remember to add a label to my quilts as a way to document the pattern name and the date. And hopefully, the quilt will be around long after I’m not and people will remember who made it. 😊
Thank you Erin! Yes, Bear is a very efficient and thorough quilt tester. He also loves to test out piles of dressmaking fabrics and freshly washed and folder laundry. He takes his job very seriously🤣
WOW, SO impressed with your quilt 😍😍😍. And a Make 9 ticked off. Impressive. Bear has good taste😂😂. Still confounded as to the attraction of making big quilts when so many elements are boring??? Glad others are not though as the results are amazing. As for swimwear - doesn’t everyone have the same fears when trying something new, or using precious fabric? I certainly do. Just go for it- nothing to lose. So very happy that you are feeling so positive about your new role. You deserve good weeks😊. Happy Sewing. Lynne
Thank you so much Lynne! It’s so funny you should say that about quilting… I got into the Standing Tall quilt along that a couple of UA-camrs are running and I’m not looking forward to the gazillion rectangles I have to sew together 😂 The quilting is my favourite part - I do get bored with the piecing when it takes too long.
Your finished quilt looks amazing. The colors and design are fantastic! Watching this while piecing my Standing Tall Quilt. That bedsized quilt is no joke!! 😅
"Good luck, Tootsie Roll." 😂Thanks for the giggle, Izzy! So glad your pretty new quilt is Bear approved 😍 I'd love to see how you quilted it btw. Can't figure that out in my head.
Definitely Bear approved! But then again, any quilt or pile of fabric is Bear approved. I even leave a pile of fabric scraps on my cutting table now so he can snuggle on top of it 😂
I am watching on an iPad and the community tab never worked - until I tried yours today. It works!!! Your quilt looks great and your cat adds the finishing touch! ❤
Hi Izzy. I want to try the new Clearwater pattern too but like you I get sewing anxiety. However like you said it is only fabric and no one needs to see it if it goes wrong. I love rayon / viscose in the summer it is great to wear and I love the swish. X
Hi Izzy, I'm so glad you had another wonderful week! 😁 I was one of the linen votes; no wrinkles at all just doesn't look realistic to me. Kind of like a sales catalogue photo. I've even thrown a few newly minted linen garments in the dryer with a damp towel before I wear them the first time so they don't look too "starched" . I agree about knits in hot weather, too. The cut fabric by my machine is Upland Trousers, ready to get started, and this morning prepared patterns for N6597, Dani Pants and a Donny top. They are all first timers, and the New Look is the only one I'm worried about. Thanks for the peek at Bear, tell his hi and give him a ear scratchy-poo for me. 😁 He is so chill haha. Have a great weekend!
I agree - I do like my garments to look « lived in » if that makes sense. I really think I need to try the Donny. I’ve seen so many amazing versions. But I think I need to use a rayon because it’ll look way too boxy in anything too structured. I’ll give Bear a little scratch for you. 😊
@@dizzyquiltsandsews Yes, I believe most people are using rayon - mine is a rayon batik. I think a short cut of tissue linen that I've got is probably going to be a Donny as well 😉
I love checking things off the list. I use Embrilliance software for machine embroidery designs. Just the basic version that I think is around $99 and is a one time fee. It is very intuitive and there are videos. Awww, I LOVE linen.
Yes - those checkmarks are good! I have the Brother software which is full of really cool designs. I just haven’t figured out how to layer designs yet… Will focus on that next!
The quilt is beautiful! Bear has good taste 😄! Neat that you can make your own labels now, too. If you take your time I bet you can do the swimsuit, and of course, if you don't like it, you get to try again, too. I like linen in the summer but don't actually have too much of it sewn up - I feel as though it has suddenly become very popular. I like rayon jersey knits that don't cling and am wearing a kind of "swing" tank top right now that feels great. Rayon challis is great for the summer, too, but always feels a little dressy for the way I live most days. Only the lightest weight cotton or cotton knit is comfortable in a dress or top, but cotton shorts work for me every day!
I certainly wouldn't want long sleeves on cotton in the summer, but that likely goes for any fabric. But I love it sleeveless. I live in sleeveless cotton shirt dresses all summer.
Oh my word Izzy, how on earth do you make such fabulous quilts? That Pulse quilt is unbelievable, the accuracy and use of colour…merveilleux🥇 Well done on using the embroidery machine, I wish you had asked me re the ‘layering’ of designs, it is actually so easy. It looks a perfect stitch out with no puckering. A serial/cereal maker? I am imagining you making muesli now 😂. Can’t wait to see your shorts and I actually think I got a peek of the BTPD door fabric when we went to her shop 😅, all the boxes were ready to be packed. Good luck with the swimsuit, you are very brave xxxx
Aww thank you Carole! I’m super proud of my label. 🤣 Maybe you could give me layering lessons when you’re back on your feet next week? 😊 I finished the red shorts last night and they look ok I guess… I mean, I think they look good enough to wear! The BTPD fabric is a beautiful but crazy print. As much as I love it, it’s really stumping me! Xx 💞
Wow, Izzy, the quilt is just superb and what a really good label, so much better than a Sharpie 😊 I’m definitely going to start your quilt along for beginners this Autumn. I believe that Bear was carrying out his quality control duties. My big black pud, Monty, thinks himself an excellent pattern weight ! 😆 I have enormous confidence that you will smash the swimsuit. But, as you say, it’s just fabric and if it doesn’t work out then pah. Move on. I voted in your fabric post. I watch on my iPad and I picked up your post about it in a sort of thumbnail on my iPad home page. Interesting 🤔 I voted viscose. I find it very cool and swishy a self-generated breeze if you will 😁 I do use linen and don’t mind the creases, but viscose wins for me. Good to hear that you and your manager share the same long term view, that’s a good premise to work from and I think you will be a very good team leader, I don’t know you of course, but I just get that your attitude is a positive, can-do one, which is ideal. You ask what we’re making; I’m currently making some Atelier Jupe Frankie trousers. They are coming together very nicely. Somewhat unusually for me, I did make a bit of a toile to double check the sizing, and I’m happy that the fit should be good. Fingers crossed I haven’t spoken too soon 😂. Have a lovely week Izzy and I look forward to seeing you next time. 😊xx
Thank you so much! Definitely better than a Sharpie 😂 I’m super excited you’ll be doing the quilt along - you’ll have to let me know how it goes. And yes, Bear takes his fabric/garment/quilt inspecting duties very seriously. 🤣 It looks like UA-cam got the whole community tab on tablets fixed which is amazing.
Love your pink pulse quilt 💓 I made my first swimsuit - copper creek patterns Amelia after watching a UA-cam video by Gemini stitches. I lengthened it but by too much and the shelf bra is too low but it was a good way of practicing the techniques. I bought more fabric but have yet to cut into it!! I wonder if your summer fabric poll is affected by the geography of your viewers. It is not very warm in the UK so although I love viscose I recently made a cotton love notions Aria!
Thank you! I will definitely be watching lots of videos before I jump into the swimsuit sewing. 😂 The poll results could have been affected by where the viewers live definitely. I’d be curious to see where the respondents live actually… I might try to figure that one out!
Enjoyed your video as per usual. Like you I have recent BTPD box and am wondering what to make with it . I am considering a Fringe dress and have bought the pattern but hesitant as yet. Love your finished quilt ! Enjoy your weekend
Love love love your quilt - it is beautiful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I think the fabric poll may have been influenced by where we live 😊. Any sunny days we have had in the UK this year haven’t come anywhere near 29 degrees and today I am wearing a sweatshirt! It’s been reassuring to hear you have anxiety too about making swimwear as I bought the pattern as soon as it came out and am feeling exactly the same! 😄 xx
Thank you! You might be right about the poll results 🤣 I work with a lot of UK people and every time we get on a Teams call, they are wearing hoodies and heavy jumpers! And it’s going to be 32 degrees over here over the next few days! Maybe we need to create a support group of people who want to make the Clearwater pattern! 😂
Hi Izzy. I watch UA-cam on a Samsung tablet and it gives access to your community tab, but I don’t get notifications when you post and I never think to check. UA-cam randomly pops one of your posts in my feed, but not all, so I sometimes see them and sometimes don't. Why is this?! I also think viscose is cool to wear in summer but I don’t find it as robust as linen or cotton, and think it deteriorates quicker with normal washing and wearing. From a slow sewing/environmental angle, that bothers me so I do sew less viscose than linen. Love Bear. We lost my feline sewing companion two months ago so I'm currently enjoying kitty kats vicariously through other people until I'm in the right state of mind to bring another one into our home.
Hi Fiona! I checked and apparently, the community tab is now available on tablets. But there no figuring out the UA-cam algorithm unfortunately 😂 You are so right about viscose though. I made a top maybe 18 months ago and the neckline is looking pretty bad already. It’s almost like the fabric just disintegrates after a while. I try not to wear my viscose garments too often and definitely never put them in the dryer, but that fabric really doesnt last as long as linen or cotton. I’m so sorry about your kitty. I’m a firm believer that when you’re ready, a new sewing companion will appear. Every single pet I’ve ever had just came to me at the exact moment I needed them. 💞 🐈⬛
Izzy that quilt is beautiful!❤❤❤
The quilt label is awesome! It really makes the quilt stand out.
Thank you so much Zelda! I’m really pleased with the quilt and its label.
Beautiful quilt, Izzy! And three cheers for a Bear sighting….
Thank you! 😊 Yes, Bear hadn’t made an appearance in a while… 🐈⬛
Amazing quilt! Just gorgeous and to have the panel with your name and date is a fabulous idea!!! Have a lovely weekend!!

Izzy, your quilt is fantastic. I am in awe of your skills.
I love your posts :D
Thank you Agata! That's very sweet. 😊
I love how you quilted the Pulse! How kind of Bear to test it out and make sure it’s cozy 😂
I’m really enjoying the polls on your community tab
Thank you Erin! Yes, Bear is a very efficient and thorough quilt tester. He also loves to test out piles of dressmaking fabrics and freshly washed and folder laundry. He takes his job very seriously🤣
Gorgeous quilt, Izzy! And, fab job on the label! I love how pets are drawn to quilts! You can totally make a swimsuit! 💗
Thank you Andra! Your advice (along with Carole’s) really worked amazingly well… float the fabric!! 😊
Bear has claimed his quilt. Hopefully, he will share his quilt with you this winter ❤
He has totally claimed the quilt as his now. 😂

Your finished quilt looks amazing. The colors and design are fantastic! Watching this while piecing my Standing Tall Quilt. That bedsized quilt is no joke!! 😅
Thank you! I have to start piecing mine. I just have a couple of small things to finish first and then it'll be straight stitching for days! LOL
The quilt is beautiful ❤ I'll be trying to tidy up my sewing room this weekend 🤞
Thank you Shari! Put on some loud music and enjoy the tidying up. 😊
I understand linen winning but I love Rayon, it’s so nice in the summer. I work from home so I end up working in t-shirts 😊
Rayon really is amazing in the summer! I love wearing it and I love how it looks, but some rayons really are beasts to sew with 😂
@@dizzyquiltsandsews yes they are beasts those light and slippery kinds I steer away from 😉

What kind of embroidery machine do you use? The quilt is nice. I like the quilting; it looks to be fairly easy to quilt.
I have the Brother NS2450D (at least I think that’s the number - I’m not next to it right now). Yes, that quilting design is a pretty easy one.
