The first to go nuzzled beneath my mother’s thigh as he let out his death rattle, but he was being driven home from the vet and had a heart attack so I dunno. The next to die, though? She went out of her way to be near us during her last few days. On her last day, when she was fading in and out of consciousness, she’d just nudge herself deeper into our laps and arms, and she just… let out one last big sigh and checked out in my mother’s embrace. My breed of dogs are prone to separation anxiety, so maybe that had something to do with it, but maybe it was that we were there safe spaces. It’s sad to see them go, to us, they’re a part of our lives, only here for a fraction of it. But to them? We are their lives. So, with this new dog we got, I’m making sure I give it all of the time in the world. Happy 100th episode, boys. A shame your mother violently exploded in the crematorium.
My dog of 13 years passed a week ago. She was doing the same. She would kinda lay down (she was in pain from a tumor in her leg) and then raise her head up to make sure we were still around her, she also wasn't able to walk at the time so we all just crowded around her all day to make her as comfortable as possible and gave her whatever she wanted to eat

There is something endearing and heartening about hearing Sam (the general) share what he is going through. Similar feeling to watching his shows with his brother. I guess it’s because Sam and I have similar backgrounds/families in similar parts of the world, and we’re going through the same phase of life. It’s just relatable. And I’m glad he is handling it well and has support. Lots of weight to end up being the pillar of the family as the previous generation passes the baton, yeah?
I had a dream that General Sam came over to my house ate my food drank my drinks and sat at the couch watching tv. He was very cordial, i told him i had to go to work and that he was free to stay but he immediately got up dumping the bowl of chips from his lap and said, "nope im good," and then he left. Everybody dreads the day they say bye to their parents, its a day that seems long in the distance and it used to anger me that it had arrived so early, but as I looked around to see a number of my friends experiencing that same day far before its due I found a sort of peace in the chaos and uncertainties. All that really needs to be done, more often than not, is to just watch them and make sure that they don't continue growing or to make sure that they're not causing your dog discomfort, especially if they're Infiltrative (locally aggressive and can spread to surrounding tissues) instead of Simple.
