The nostalgia is strong with these workshops.
Fr I just got back into mh4u after years
Finally got a New 3ds XL and a copy of this game for the wife and i. Amazing game, we've been with the series since the very start on PS2 and this is easily the best! Love the glaive!
This game is amazing. Generations is even more amazing. I feel bad that I did not play the series a bit earlierin the Play Station era because when seeing old stages, it must have brought up lots of nostalgia, right?
A skill I picked up that you might want to add to the video, if you tap R while in the middle of a combo, you will swing the glaive around to make a blunt attack. If the attack hits, it will also mark the monster as if you had fired a shot at it. This is really helpful when you have a red essence up, and dont want to waste time aiming and firing, as you can just put it into your normal combo, while attacking the part of the body that gives the essence you want, and then send out your kinsect to retrieve more essence for you, with minimal down time.
It's actually a pretty fun weapon, the vaulting attack is probably my most favorite part about the weapon.
Unsure if anyone has pointed this out but, there's another way to mark a monster with essences. In the middle of your attack combos, you press (R) and the hunter will do a melee move that will mark it with some sort of essences.
As far as essences go, if by chance your little bug friend pick up one that you don't want, you can also tell it to go attack the marked monster again while it's still out (same command that sends it out). However, the longer the bug has been away from you decreases how many times you can tell it to do this before it has to come back to you. 3 seems to be the max.
Has anyone tried the Insect Glaive yet, what do you think?
I love it I'm fighting between long sword or this insect glaive ugh what to do... the Glaive is so much fun tho
ebony edwards Make one your primary and one a secondary main. It's always a good idea to have variate
Gideon Ark well that is true, thanks in MH3U i was huge on the dual blades until some one suggested sword and shield. I used that mostly but when I saw how grate the long sword was I fell in love. Now the demo is here and I've tested them all... Man I just know it's gonna be a tough ride XP
yes, and with this info, i'll never stop
it's so cool to finally be able to jump in this game XD
For those who don't know the armour and glaive being used here is Sergios gear, High rank grants esp (immunity to weapon deflections excluding Apex monsters), slower stam depletion, and bleed immunity, G Rank as seen in the video grants those same powers, but along with esp it also increases the amount of hits before sharpness is lost. Watch out though you also get slow sharpener. Also Sergios weapons grant sharpness back when you roll a number of times, and the bowguns reload a single shot of whatever ammo you have on the gun, when you roll with it drawn, same goes for blade masters. If you get to H rank or G rank, Sergios armour imo is a must have set especially for blade masters.
(Ash Kecha heads are armoured.)
I just found my new favorite weapon.
Despite the Kinsect's main function, I tend to use it as a projectile, stringing together combos as I move about to avoid damage and dish it out while saving on durability.
Just getting into monster hunter, and I fell in love with this weapon the instant I did my first vault!
Thanks for the guide, had no idea of the effects of combos of essence, or that you could charge the kinsect before firing
Not sure if you know, but if you press Down on the joystick and vault you can vault backwards (try it a few times, you do a backflip vault) I am in love with the insect glaive and killed gore magala a few times now on the demo. Defo my go to weapon, didnt know about the charge insect release! Gonna put that to use, i also find that standing right near the body part i want to tag and releasing the insect is a very fast method of getting the buffs (Aka, stand right next to testucabras tusks then release insect for red essence)
thanks for the info, here 9 years later just because the online is up again.
Just got my game today, this thing looks fun to use. Thanks for the tutorial Arrekz!
Insect Glaive pro tip: Get Triple buff. If one buff is hard to get (usually orange) get red, mount, wail on monster, etc.
i watched this after the game came out, and still find it useful. Tip, if u send the kinsect out then press the buttons twice, the bug will be charged
Old video, late post, yes. But I just kinda wanted to say (firstly, thank you for all your informative videos!) that the intro in this video was kinda awesome, and even if it's something small, I miss it. If you change your intro again in the future, it would be cool to see something like this one again.
i use the glaive and it is awesome. good speed good mobility good reach and good damage. whats not to like about it. plus spammable mounting to give yourself tons of free damage and buffs. I noticed how u didnt go over what happens when u collect all 3 essence buffs. sooooooooo goooooood.
INFINITE INSECT GLAIVE COMBO- *X* > *X* > *A* (Rinse and Repeat). Really effective, it moves forward a little, but after the second *X* you could hold back on the circle pad and press *A* to do the backwards spinning slash to move back. And Arrekz, please try this out, It's really effective.
He did that in the video
Insect Glaive is so fun! But now I have trouble with other weapons....oh well.
By the way, firing in midair after a vault is a great way to change your direction, say if the monster has moved or if you see you are going to land somewhere regrettable. Simply fire in the air and you will drop down to safety.
I know, all the weapons can be usefull. But goddamn, the Insect Glaive is so op. I tried out every weapon type there is in training and on a real hunt and IG turned out to be the most powerfull and most usefull of them all. It's super fast and does a shitton of DPS, you can buff yourself with power, speed and defense, annoy the enemy with your Kinsect and since mounting became incredibly important and is (in my opinion) one of the most valuable things to do in combat, I won't go out without my glaive anymore.
You mentioned in your tutorial that you could use the kinsect to attack and can even do a charge attack with it. However, you should also mention, perhaps in a later video that you can actually use the kinsect to attack up to three times in a row, and it can do some pretty significant damage. Step 1, mark your monster (you can ignore step 1 if you're close or feeling confident). Step 2, use R and X to send your kinsect out and wait for it to hit. Step 3, once the monster is hit press R and X a 2nd time and the kinsect will attack again. Step 4, press R and X a 3rd time and your kinsect will do a spinning charge attack and can possibly stun the monster.
If that fails try holding R and pressing X 3x, it's both awesome and effective.
Also you should mention how you can mark a monster by hitting them with the blunt end of the glaive by hold R while attacking.
i liked the tutorial, its very well put together and very well explained. However, one thing that i would like to refer is that if you are planning to main this weapon, try to get used to controlling the kinsect and harvesting the essences manually, without the bullet marker thing. It is much more efficient once you get used to it and it allows the player to get the golden buff faster than with the marker, allowing in turn to unleash all manners of hell on the monster faster.
The insect glaive is one is of my favourite weapons in the game
Just got this game, love the IG
IGN 7/10.
Not enough Rathalos.
*****
Rathalos was pretty fun in MH3U, I enjoyed hunting it
7.8 out of 10 too much water....oh wait that was mh3u......revised to 10/10
also,, if you didn't know, when you mount something and it starts buck, the monster head on the bar starts moving. this makes mounting really difficult, and to make it(the monsters bar) slow down and stop advancing, you hold R and stop slashing.
insect glaive is awesome extremely versatile with the pole vault its op you just spam pole vault mount attack when monster is down attack repeat
OMG insect glaive is so op can't wait to use this in the game :)
wow old insect glave is some nostalgia
I love this weapon. I used to think it was bad until I beat the regular story with the Nèvè rod.
After the K.O King: the hammer...Introduce in... the monster mounting king:the insectglaive.
jst saying, the insect doesnt home in on the point, it goes out to the point where the mark was when you send out the kinsect. if the monster turns or moves, you will hit a different spot or just not hit it at all.
also, doing right trigger and x 3 times, it does a spin charge thing similar to the charge shot with it. also you can combo infinitely if you alternate between x and a with or without the red buff, the red buff just makes it faster and with more hits that are more powerful.
it does, you have to smoke the monster than fire
also a few tips you might have missed. you c an gather essence from dead monsters, and also when you pole vault dodge, it does NOT give you invulnerability for a short time like roll dodging does. I would not rely on jumping to dodge, as most monsters have ridiculous hit boxes when attacking you. charging and shooting projectiles etc.
I love the insect glaive because its good for mounting
Thanks man, this is really good, I'm sure it will be a big help.
with that slam (A) you do in normal (no buff) mode, if you are moving you instantly do a side flip slam(Drawslash), followed up by what he showcased.
Don't know if it was mentioned elsewhere but while your attacking if you tap R you will smack it with the pheromone side of the weapon which has the same effect as if you shot him with the shot.
I just love how most weapon combos are carried over to mhw and if you ever pick up the older monster hunter games your skill in using that weapon stay the same.
If mounting is a key part to your strategy, I would recommend this weapon. I use the glaive and it's my favorite weapon. it shoots, you can basically jump at will, and the insect helps a lot. with the glaive i can mount a monster almost at will (it can take a few tries)
The insect glaive is super mobile and fun but your wrong about one thing. It's not the only mounting weapon, a Lance can use mounting attacks as well. While your charging you can do a leaping attack, which is also a mounting attack.
this thing is kind of op. but it is a huge bitch to upgrade. feeding the kinsect is simple enough, but finding parts for the next glaive usually jumps 2-3 hunting ranks before you can aquire the monsters necessary. example, bone staff to bone glaive goes from hr1 to hr3 in terms of missions with monsters that give you those parts you need to upgrade.
Just thought I'd mention that if you tap R after an attack you do a swing which marks the target where you hit it
I know Capcom has gone through a metric crap ton of testing to ensure that every weapon is balanced with one another but the insect glaive seems OP on the surface. The pole vaulting move to mount a large monster without having to rely on the terrain seems very powerful.
Robert Williams It is a very versatile weapon and vaulting is extremely useful, but luckily it is balanced by having moderate damage per strike.
The Great Sword is still the highest DPS melee weapon in the game followed by Charge Blades and Hammers, the Insect Glaive follows just closely behind in DPS, but you have to work for it like any other weapon.
And the Heavy Bow Gun is still by far the most OP weapon.
GuyWithAnAmazingHat I'm completely infatuated with the great sword at the moment. The damage per hit is absolutely staggering. I used to use the switch axe and dual blades. I've completely dropped the axe and have barely touched the dual blades recently. The glaive looks really interesting, I'll have to give that a shot.
Robert Williams probably the most useful wreapon even if the damage is meh.
***** I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but there is a move that if your falling you can smack a monster with the pheromone. i don't exactly how to do it but it will be very useful if you can not land the pellet shot. I also do not know if you can do it while on the ground or if its only while you're airborne.
I just randomly saw someone do it while they fought Seregios. They fell of the ledge and he started to fly away and when they landed on the ground their hunter swung the pheromone side of the glaive around. I don't know if it actually applies the pheromone but it showed the same effects as when you fire it on the weapon.
if you press r during a combo, you hit with the pheromone ^^ pretty easy
I started playing the game yesterday with the glaive as my main weapon of choice. I will be honest, I watched this video four separate times to know the best way to use my weapon. I am finding combat difficult only because this is the first time for me with this particular weapon. I did find something odd, i was in the middle of a combo and i somehow performed a back flip which put distance between me and my enemy while doing damage.
I hate to be this guy but : Y U no put health bar in bottom screen!? The one thing that I love about the switch to the ds was that all of the stuff that used to take up the psp screen is now conveniently on the bottom. Isnt it amazing having a clear screen to fight on? Who's with me on this? :P
I've played all of the monster hunter games for psp and ps2 and 3ds, I just got used to it. Now I need it there or I would never look at it
Now i get why i was doing inf combos XD
Need a video about upgrading the thing with nectars. Not clear how that works at all.
actually it is quite clear how it work, you have growth points, how much it can grow(points in total) the points in parentheses are basically how many points it will grow. and then the nectar already tells what stats it gives and lose....
***** there is a video on youtube u can find it. But just a note, be careful with how u feed ur kinsect as u may find urself at a dead-end being unable to upgrade further. Then ull have to buy a new one (glaive) all over again.
As a rule of thumb... u would want to max power and speed first. Stamina is pretty much useless IMO
TToTToTT that is untrue, you can actually get any stat you want, in a certain level and as long as those follow the guide line of the upgrades(yes you can get lower points in other stats to increase the right one.) Never had any problems at all.....
TToTToTT just go for raw speed, the buffs you get are far more valuable than any dmg the kinsect could do. get it in, get it out, get the red, fuck bitches, make money
omniXenderman hahahah best advice ever!!!!
IDK whether or not you mentioned this in this video, but the white essence also increases your jump height when you pole vault. :) (No need to thank me, just a little tip from a pro.) I kid, I kid. xD
I love it. I love doing jump attacks
This is tha first time realizing that tha insect does somethinf😅💀
My top Weapons
1. Insect Glaive
2. Hammer
3. Charge Blade
4. Hunting Horn
Insect Staff Is the strongest weapon in 4,4G & 4U
huh, might start using a bugaboo to fight. I'm more used to switch axe style but it can't hurt to try~
To get red was shoot in face claws or main damage causing area white in legs orange in wings or an armored part green usually varies though
i think you should go live on twitch and play mh4u so some of us can play with you
I love the insect glaive so far, but the upgrading is kinda annoying to me because of all the essence feeding.
spear + double-edge sword + staff
It's awesome
Just leaving a comment here for the algorithm
This demo just came out on 3ds its the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate special download multiplayer and solo
I LOVE THIS WEAPON SO MUCH!!! sadly I only have mh3u 😭. But soulstrangler longsword is good enough!
I would really like a Code but i can wait a month.
Cool vid
I am usually a dual blade user, but I want an alternate and this looks cool. I am having trouble though. It is tough to mount with the vault, and I am not very good with the kinsect. Any advice?
Very easy to mount
I know this was posted a while ago, but try starting your mount farther away from the monster and hit x when you are just starting your descent. It has a different feel then just a quick ledge jump so you have to be patient. But once you get that, its really easy
***** Hi I've been using the Insect Glaive for more than a year since the Japanese MH4, I'd like to point out that because you've made this video during your short initial experience with the demo, it is not very well demonstrated and have left out some tips.
I hope you can make a revised version of this tutorial, because so far this is the only tutorial that I benefit the least compared to the rest of your excellent guides.
I think the insect glaive is my type of weapon. It has the design of my favorite weapons, a bow, staff, and a little bit of scythe
Also what armor set? I'm quite new to all this, and I really like your look
Regios S set.
I used to use hammer but know I think I might try the glaive
Hellooooowss! I just bought the game and heard a lot about the insect weapons.. how do I get them?:D thx !
OK I'm not using the insect glaive but I want to know how you got the armor set you have its hot lol
Can you do a vid on armor pigments?
By the way i love the insect glaive...but im wondering... does anyone know what armor he is using? that golden armor is amazing looking!
Thank you :) it looks beast....do you know what the insect glaive is?
+Wizzo 568 i think the armor and glaive are both from steve
+InsaneTerminater Nope they're from Seregios.
@@cephawacha Seregios is sometimes called steve
why i never find people using insect glaive ? look like an awesome weapon
probably because people are used to long swords axes n hammers
or the fact that you have to rely on a buff system in order to do dmg
How do I send the Kinsect out. When I play, I hold in R to aim and when I let go, a puff of dust comes out and surrounds the enemy that I shot it at. What control do I use to send out the Kinsect?
Hold r and then press x
Payton Bartee Thanks I got it! I really like it :P
Well, it IS in the weapon controls in the Hunter Notes but hey, who cares. ( •3
thank you for making this video I did not know how to pole vault
I love it
Is this one of the starting weapons?
I like the my Kinect in between power and speed with poison glave
You don't cover the attacks and combos that arise from holding the joystick. Also, link to the advanced tut video?
Does that cover evolving the Kinsect?
Question.
If I use my Charge blade in axe form or a hammer etc's upwards move and propell my fellow hunting companion into the air, can they then attack in mid air or mount and so on?
Late answer. You probably now it already, but for my peace of mind: Yes.
Wyllowisp I actually didn't, thanks i'll put it to practice
Can u make a new review, I think u missed a bunch of combos
How do you do the backflip!?
can someone help me out, so far im still in low rank with my insect glaive which doesn't seem to have any other path other than the bone one...ive been only able to upgrade it twice then the other materials require high rank, i think... are there any other paths or will i be using my bone glaive until high?
There are very few Glaives sadly, I believe the next after bone is the Stealth glaive which requires nerscylla. and after is the Magala Glaive.
alright it seems that i havent gotten far enough, and the insect glaive doesnt have as many branches as other weapons as first, but got my gore glaive, thanks a bunch guys
between glaive types the missions usually jump two or three star ranks, bone staff to bone glaive goes from hr1 to hr3 in one split secomd
how do u get leumundslist all beginner use it but i cant get it
lol I'm a newb 450 hours later, G2 rank with full Artian X armor later and I didn't know you can charge the glave.....
+Savage 3: why? its how you release an ultra
+Savage well, Im glad youre using the cb to its purposefully designed potential. I use it 90% of the time and it bothers me to see other players not execute optimal combos or unleash their phials unwisely. Nevertheless, happy hunting.
+ManniBruhh ultra sucks though? should only ever be used on a sleeping monster as a finisher or when you only have 1 phial left and you shield still charged. using regular ultra phial attacks with the 20% bonus is much more effective. so is the double spin.
+John-Simon Nahas I think theres a better chance of knocking ot out
really? never works for me. i usually just do a double spin super, then another super. if they all hit the head it usually stuns.
Next video can u show attack like x+x+a
it seems like heads or attacking body parts tend to give red essence and bodies usually give yellow while legs and wings seem to give white. green seems a little more rare. i think you can get it from some environmental elements but i could be wrong.
has anybody seen an in depth tutorial on how to develop the weapon in feeding the kinsect? its more complex than any other weapon in that regard
no but i think when your endgame you have to make a completely new ig and feed it with speed or something,i think i read that in some forum. Also there was something with an "extender buff"
ive heard of that, but im not sure how it works. there is a video on it though
Zenotik - that would be the extender kinsect. But u have to be careful with what u feed it if u want to hit the minimum points for the extender kinsect
shadowsa2b Green buff is generally from the tip of the tail
is the glaive able to break or cut off parts of the monsters?
Yeah, any attack can
insect glaive, hammer or dual blades? i cant decide...
i love tht armor tho
Seregios armor
Sup everyone. Played MH4, in G1 rank now, any suggestion on what Insect glaive/glaive tree is the best to get?
Hey man long time fan! I would like a code
Hey, thanks for the ongoing support! :) Make sure you follow me on Twitter (@Arekkz) as that's where I give away codes.
+Arekkz Gaming I don't like twitter
What Glaive are you using in this video? :O
He is using Altair, required seregios parts
Hey arekkz what insect glaive is this?
+London Musgrove If its a bowgun you'll automatically reload.
how do you get that insect glance
Can you release the insect and then shoot the homing tag?
yes, as long as the bug is flying if you hit r x, it will attack again from its position, you can shoot the phermone whenever you want even directly after a polevault(in mid air, trick shots anyone?) the times it can attack before it flies back is based on stamina(kinsect's) but you should just go for raw speed, the buffs will make you do way more damage than the bug ever could.
Thanks for the information!
Is the Kinsect making much money?
If your kinsect gets a proper college education and finds a good job it can earn itself a comfortable living!
Just kidding, to answer your question, yes it is pretty costly to fully upgrade the insect glaive, which basically happens by upgrading your kinsect, every few levels of kinsect upgrading you will need some extra parts, making the glaive reach its next level. the levels which just upgrade kinsect but not the glaive take less items. While it takes quite sone stuff and Denny to fully upgrade insect glaives, it is very much worth it, they are extremely strong and versatile weapons, so don’t let the relatively high cost of items and Denny discourage you from making them, you won’t regret it. Also if you want a very versatile glaive, go for one of the blast models, either the crimson fatalis glaive (hellruin), the raging brachydios glaive (lightbreak), or the shah dalamadur (bounding). All three are very strong and probably the most versatile glaives in the game. While hellruin is generally regarded to be the strongest one, it blunts very fast making frequent resharpening a necessity, lightbreak has the same raw damage, quite a bit less blast, but way better sharpness, making it a good choice if you don’t want to have to sharpen your weapon a lot, and bounding has the highest raw out of all three making it a good choice, especially for blast resistant monsters, it also has an insanely long bar of white sharpness with +1 skill so you almost never have to sharpen it, though it’s purple is close to nonexistent, which can be a nuisance against certain monsters and leads to a smaller damage multiplier after just a few hits, making its additional raw as opposed to the hellruin glaive very minimal, so if you don’t mind the frequent re sharpening definitely go for hellruin glaive, if you do, and still want purple sharpness, go for lightbreak press and if you want high raw, go for bounding.
@@hanspeter8011 thank you for your response. And sry im still learning english 😂
hey my name is michaelangelo i would love it if we monster hunter 4 i am picking my mine tommorrow if you could give me your friend id it would be cool if we played togther
Full play thru?
Can anyone tell me what glaive is he using?
God...the code-beggars swarm again.....this time for MH4
