Here's a tip for you all, if you are affected by the sleep ailment you can cancel the sleeping part by falling asleep on a jumpable ledge, because when you do fall asleep on the edge of the ledge you will fall of it, or at least that's the objective, then be instantly awoken. The trick is aligning correctly on the ledge. Hope this helps!
Oh u can also do ths trick for going up a ledge while sheathing, cancels that cool looking and unnecessary charge blade sheath animation...I don't practice ths tho, I was scared of a molten Tigrex coming at me and I got away with it lol
Portalgecko Another way to avoid the sleep status is simply to exit the room if you've no energy drinks. The moment you change zones you'll be wide awake.
A good tip for IG users: If it is a monster with a long roar and you have no earplugs: Pole-vault right before roar. It will knock you in flight and it will be a quick get up instead of a long ear holding. Did this with the Monoblos, pretty sure it works on others with long roar animations.
Here's a little neat mechanic I found while playing MH4U. It is to be able to quickly sheathe your weapon without the Quick Sheathe Skill. First, you need to find a small ledge where it doesn't require you to hold R to fall off the ledge. A good spot to try this out is at base camp in A. Steppe. Now, once you find a ledge, with your weapon out, slowly walk towards the ledge and the moment you're about to fall off, quickly press Y to sheathe your weapon. The act of falling will interrupt your sheathing animation, making you able to put away your weapon much faster. Try it with all the weapons and see the difference. Now although you are limited to small ledges to be able to do this, keeping this in mind is a neat and handy trick and could possibly save your life by that many seconds it took you to sheathe your weapon.
"Harvesting monsters" also works to charge up dualblades demon mode, longsword spirit gauge and you can even get rid of the frenzy virus on dead monsters
Something that some people don't know about the insect glaive and switch axe that I found out through some experimenting: they're perfect for sleep bombing, much like a great sword or bowgun/bow. With the glaive, place your bombs down, and then lauch the kinsect at them. With the switch axe, stand back a ways, keep the weapon in axe mode, and use the overhead strike (press x button once while standing still) attack, making sure that just the very edge of the weapon strikes one of the bombs. It should give you much greater range than a great sword, so you're guaranteed not to get hit by the blast.
In response to the blocking roars/flashes, you can also dodge them. The timing's trickier, but gets much easier if you have something like the Evade+3 skill.
This may not be something people didn't know, but I do think it's a good trick for if you want to be able to keep essentially a fully charged charge blade on hand for say an opener against a sleeping monster. First, charge it up to the red, load, then get another red charge and keep it there. Once you're ready to max the weapon out, press R+X+A to draw slash into axe form, then press X+A then hit R to give your shield/axe blade a red charge. Then, hit R+A again, and boom, you have your charge blade ready for a super A.E.D. in the span of roughly 4-5 seconds. All you need to do is switch to axe form and you'll be ready to go.
On the last tip for insect glaive users the buffs from harvesting the dead monster usually start to wear off once you find the other monster if not before you find the monster but are still worth trying
+Pesto Sheep The last one could work with insect glaive if the balloon is view able, cause the whole "seeing the monsters location for a short time" could help the insect glaive(Or any other weapon at that point) find the second monster.
I first learned I could block roars from playing online. One of our team members was using a heavy bowgun with a shield equipped. He must have been wearing his Auto-Guard talisman or something, because he just sat there and kept shooting while the rest of us were covering our ears in pain.
Here's one: you don't always need to pick up the poggie to bring him outside. If you pet him and get the hearts, he'll start following you around. Then go outside and he'll come out with you.
Regarding tip number 1: you don't need to apply the charge to the shield right away. You can just hit the monster until your phials are red, charge the phials, and then keep hitting when they are red again (your five phials will be charged and the bar will be red). Now when you find the other monster you will only need to charge the shield and then charge the phials (only takes a few seconds). Alternativelly, you can have three layers of charge at the same time: 1. hit the monster, bar turns red, charge the phials, charge the shield. 2. hit the monster, bar turns red, charge the phials. 3. hit the monster, bar turns red. If you do this and the other monster is close by, you can run towards it, use an ultra and right after the ultra you can charge the phials. From that point you can charge the shield right away or keep hitting the monster until the bar is red, then charge the shield, charge the phials and do another ultra.
I did not know about the Poogie rodeo, thanks I'll try that next time I start playing. The others I knew, but it strikes me odd when people don't block the roars or flash but have a shield. Auto-Guard so good for roars. Charging up files on fallen monsters is helpful, but again few people I see do it.
With IG, there's red for attack, yellow for defense, and white for movement and bigger buffs, but there's also green for healing. The first three are normally in places that make sense; bitey-stabby bits like teeth and sometimes claws for damage, movey bits like legs and wings for movespeed, and hard blocky bits like the body for defense. There's a few exceptions though, magala wings are defense not movespeed, and quite a few monsters will give you armor for tails. If I remember right, zinogre' s front claws and ratholos' talons give damage. Oh, and for most monsters, you can get the healy greens from their tails. Don't forget about shooting the ball to tell your buggy buddy where to go if you want something specific. On a lot of monsters you can just slather their tail in your mustard wad, run behind it, and have your buddy mosquito you up some health instead of stopping to heal. It's like free potions you don't have to sheath or stand still for. Its pretty great. Generally speaking, always try and have all your bug buffs active at once, but they pretty much tell you that in the tutorial quest. Another thing, for dual blades the solution to pretty much every problem is dash juice. It took me way longer than it should have to figure that out. Drink your meth, press RB, mash X+A, dodge occasionally. Then you win.
It'd be useful to list these out in the description or something so that others can find parts that they actually don't know. Majority of these "tips" should be known by simply playing the game for a few hours or so.
I had been trying to get the Dahren Mohren armour set but the quest disappeared and I was really upset, but now I can get it back!! Very helpful video :D
You can have a CB fully charged indefinitely. Get red bar and fill the Phials up to max. Do NOT put the phials into your shield boost and instead build the bar up to red. Now You have 5 Phials AND a red bar meaning when you come up to a Big monster you can put the Phials into shield boost and immediately load 5 more Phials after. You can charge it this way on small fry as well.
Arekkz, don't forget us LS users and Dual Blade users :( where's our love? Attacking the dead body also works for the LS spirit gauge and the Dual blades Archdemon gauge. For the LS its not JUST filling up the gauge, you can perform an entire spirit combo and raise the spirit gauge rank to the next level too!!! op much
You can also reset the rotating advanced quests simply by exiting the the game and then going back in. Not as functional in multi-player but works well in single player. Personally I don't like abandoning quest plus I think the load screens might take less time.
Just as charge blades and insect glaives can interact with corpses, so too can your weapons bounce off the harder parts of a monster, like a Najarala's tail tip, even when its dead.
I had noticed you could hit dead monsters but never even thought of using it to charge my charge blade. Granted I've only done 1 multi-monster quest, thought there have been expeditions with two in the same area.
This is quite late as this was many months back by now, but some, if not all, the maps have secret passageways through areas that are not displayed on the map. For example, in Primal Forest there is a large hole to the right of the spawn tent. If you jump into it you will be transported to Area 4 (or was it 3-) Anyways, you get the point right. Secret passageways in maps
oof really idk how i figured it out but once i accidentally did it with kinsect i assumed i can use it with other similar weapons. I'm also an IG main hunter :)
For the Gypcero's Flash that shield is neat, but what I do is shield my sword and then run timing the flash then do a dive at that moment. You can't do it towards him but all the other directions and you'll be fine.
i didn't know the rodeo thing xD ive had some encounters where gypceros's flash just didn't work for whatever reason. perhaps super armor on some charge blade attacks resist it, and/or gotten a few lucky block animations. i think i have just flat out blocked it before too, but like you said that doesn't always work.
The flash never occurs if his head is broken. Apart from that, Charge Blades (as well as a few other weapons) have something called guard points, during a few frames of certain attacks you automatically block so maybe that's what happens. Super armor doesn't prevent the flash.
Sigel i know that sword and shield has guard points, but i recall being in axe and not getting stunned by the flash. maybe it was just positioning or luck?
zetsubou1v1 Being far enough also prevents it and I think being behind him requires less distance. (I'm not sure at all about the behind thing) The last thing I know of would be s.
At 3 minutes he says to join a quest and abandon to rotate quests... that's the longest way and you lose money (which for most of us is zero issue, but for new players whatever) just use the bottom screen to go to town, click the expedition, as soon as you get to expedition click return to town (click no to save as its less load time for everyone). Faster, cheaper, better.
You can always hold a red charge and white vials on cb so you keep the charge until you encounter the next monster, or a red shield red vials and filled vials for funsies!
I have something many people really don´t know (i guess) when you sheath your weapon you can either do this when you stay at the ledge then if you did it right you skip the whole stupid animation of sheathing the weapon the other thing is sheathing the weapon when you stay in front of a wall you can climb if you stand close enough you can press "a" to climb while sheathing the weapon and skip part of the animation as well don´t know if most people knew this already but the friends i play mh4u with didn´t know about this
Quick question. After a while of upgrading the standard dual blades you get, I've gotten them to Fledderklauen. All I need to upgrade them further is shagaru magala parts. I've already completed the heavens wheel quest, and as I checked to do it again, it wasn't there anymore. I'm up to rank 8 in rue story quests.
OMIGOSH, if id known that about the Gycyperos before I spent two hours teying to beat it I wouldn't have been so pissed off! Thank you! When I started MH4, I went for dual blades, I wanted something quick and mobile for my first ever monster hunter. But I experimented and found that, even though I dont use the shield, the sword and shield is a better fit. But even so now that I know I can block a freaking roar!
Am I the only one who knew all tips (although that trick about advanced quest, roars and flashes is something I didn't found out by myself)? The first one is also important if you want to complete the achivements and the second one is even explained in game.
Knew all except the pig thing lol that's funny, I learnt everything else on my own through instinct and fear lol btw, I see u fill your phials then store them in your shield, no a better method would be to keep hitting until you have a full phial, don't store continue hitting again and they will turn red again. Once u find the monster store the first phial and they will actually still remain red store again and they fill. That way, u won't annoyingly time out
Moving the motion pad around in circles and pressing B over and over gets rid of stun much faster. Rolling seems to get rid of snow faster, but I'm not positive on that, or signal your cats and they will run to you and hit it off of you.
You know another thing i dont get is some new people i guess 4 doesnt explain it like the originals did....but some people will try to flash creatures like the Khezu or Gore Magala but these creatures do not have eyes and are blind. So flashes dont work and they just end up blinding the team XD.
Oh and also i wish the game would explain to the new hunters about how traps worked like shock traps do not work on gypceros it might explain that but i dont recall it. Or how elder dragons cannot be caught in traps. I actually ran across several g ranks who tried to capture a daora when he was sleeping and i killed it with a GS 3rd charge and they said they were trying to capture it. *Face palm*
Here's a tip for you all, if you are affected by the sleep ailment you can cancel the sleeping part by falling asleep on a jumpable ledge, because when you do fall asleep on the edge of the ledge you will fall of it, or at least that's the objective, then be instantly awoken. mind: *blown* o.o
Happened to me by luck but I'm calling it my hunter instinct lol either way I kinda got too excited when it worked!
Portalgecko You can also walk into damage tiles like lava/sulfer geysers and lava on the edge to clear it instantly.
A good tip for IG users: If it is a monster with a long roar and you have no earplugs: Pole-vault right before roar. It will knock you in flight and it will be a quick get up instead of a long ear holding. Did this with the Monoblos, pretty sure it works on others with long roar animations.

I've figured that out too, it's really useful for weapons like charge blade or heavy bowgun that take a while to sheath.
The final tip about the dead body also works when charging arch demon mode with the dual blades. BTW great video!
Ah yes, of course! Good point, sorry I should have mentioned that! :)
same for the Spirit Gauge of the LS :)
Tip 1 is very useful then!
DespoAMV Beat me to it. LS users - We look like we really hate that thing we just killed
MagnusMKI The level of truth which I am feeling from this comment is unbelievable
The final tip works for the demon mode with the dual blades and the damage increase with the katana. Great video!
"Harvesting monsters" also works to charge up dualblades demon mode, longsword spirit gauge and you can even get rid of the frenzy virus on dead monsters

shooting the Kinsect Targrt Liquif on bombs are faster if your Kinsect isn't fully upgraded
Ryan Higa Yeah, I also found that handy for detonating Raging Brach's red spots.
In response to the blocking roars/flashes, you can also dodge them. The timing's trickier, but gets much easier if you have something like the Evade+3 skill.
Last tip works with Long Sword too :) recently got addicted to MH so this video is a great help! Keep it up!

about #5, fill your phials and have a red charge, then when you find the monster, charge your sheild
I've always thought that having your palicoes rodeo on the poogie increased their enthusiasm.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Holy cow you can fish in Dundorma! I did not know that!
You can also roll to remove the other blights but it takes a lot more, somewhere around 7?
Question about the last tip.. would it still affect the weapon's sharpness if you hit the dead monster??
Just started playing again lol glad these videos still exist
Wow, as an IG user, never knew that with the final tip. Very helpful, thanks!
oof really
idk how i figured it out but once i accidentally did it with kinsect i assumed i can use it with other similar weapons. I'm also an IG main hunter :)

U can also roll to get all blights out except poison, and u can spam all buttons to wake up quicker and get out of confusion
for the charge blade i found out u can hit rocks and it will charge like the random stand alone rocks u find when u go on expadtions
Number one was only one I didn't know. Will have to use that for charge blade
Some great tips in the video and the comments. Thanks guys! 👍😋
Awesome tips, thanks for the video and keep up the great work! :)
Thanks for the tips. Your videos are wonderful and entertaining.
got a new phone today so now i can finally watch in 720! Its glorious!
i didn't know the rodeo thing xD

thanks for the tip about the advanced quest, does it only apply for High rank?
You can always hold a red charge and white vials on cb so you keep the charge until you encounter the next monster, or a red shield red vials and filled vials for funsies!
I have something many people really don´t know (i guess)
when you sheath your weapon you can either do this when you stay at the ledge then if you did it right you skip the whole stupid animation of sheathing the weapon
the other thing is sheathing the weapon when you stay in front of a wall you can climb
if you stand close enough you can press "a" to climb while sheathing the weapon and skip part of the animation as well
don´t know if most people knew this already but the friends i play mh4u with didn´t know about this
if you do a frantic jump while running away from gypceros you won't be affected by his flash attack. you don't just need a shield.
Can you guard the flash and roars with a guard point vs a guard?
Quick question. After a while of upgrading the standard dual blades you get, I've gotten them to Fledderklauen. All I need to upgrade them further is shagaru magala parts. I've already completed the heavens wheel quest, and as I checked to do it again, it wasn't there anymore. I'm up to rank 8 in rue story quests.
the shagaru magala should be one of the only 5 star (i think it was five star) things there even after you beat it so idk
+Seth The Hedgehog that's what I thought but I checked and it wasn't there
Jeremy Carter oh wait it was for 6 star not 5 star but i'm sure you checked there and if so then i have no idea where it could have gone.
its an advanced quest so it cycles out sometimes. do another quest and keep checking back to see if it cycles back to your 6 star quests.
it's there on different hunts
OMIGOSH, if id known that about the Gycyperos before I spent two hours teying to beat it I wouldn't have been so pissed off! Thank you! When I started MH4, I went for dual blades, I wanted something quick and mobile for my first ever monster hunter. But I experimented and found that, even though I dont use the shield, the sword and shield is a better fit. But even so now that I know I can block a freaking roar!
Could someone answer me if a HBG with Shield can block flashes and screams from monsters?
Can HBG block roars with a shield?
The trick number 5 is useful with long swords too
Am I the only one who knew all tips (although that trick about advanced quest, roars and flashes is something I didn't found out by myself)? The first one is also important if you want to complete the achivements and the second one is even explained in game.
You didn't mention that you can block wind gusts and tremors too.
How did you get your link blue
and nice vid keep up the good work
+Epic Wolf (TheEpicWolf500) it's a bit to late to respond
He dyed it
What was that fishing one in the beginning..
then with the last one you should be able to charge spirit and demon blade that way as well
I actually knew the last one as it works with the dual blades. Otherwise, I didn't know. Cool.
I found out about the stop drop and roll my messing around and got hit by a rathios and said stop drop and roll. To my surprise it actually worked.
That way, u won't annoyingly time out
Dead monsters work for LS, SA, and DB too
Video autoplayed this. Man old school Arekkz lol
quick question. how to hasten stun and snow status?
Moving the motion pad around in circles and pressing B over and over gets rid of stun much faster. Rolling seems to get rid of snow faster, but I'm not positive on that, or signal your cats and they will run to you and hit it off of you.
What palico armor is he using? Not the luigi one, the robot palico looking one.
the spoder one. nerscyllia
I thought you could roll off any blight though, it just takes longer for others.
Blast/Fire=3 rolls
Ice/Dragon/Thunder/Water=8 rolls
That's interesting. I also learned that with evasion+ skills it can take less rolls to get blights off.
I expected to come in here knowing all 5
I had NO CLUE about the Poogie Rodio.
Heck, I never knew he could go outside!
AlphaWolvesGamer seriosly? if you check "rodeo" it says you cannot do it inside, so 1. you never spoke with poogie or 2. your a fking idiot
+Andreas Niinimaa wow,douchebag much?
The last one also goes for the dual blades and long sword.
I find expeditions better for resetting quests. No starting fee. Sure, its only like 12z on a gathering quests, but still throwing it out there.
There is no fee for gathering quests, 12z is the reward money you get if you complete the gathering quest
You can also roll to get rid of thunderblight, but it takes 7 rolls though.
Last tip also works with longswords
How did u get a blue tunic?
Knew about blocking Gypseros Flashes, not about blocking roars. Neither help me, using a LS.
You know another thing i dont get is some new people i guess 4 doesnt explain it like the originals did....but some people will try to flash creatures like the Khezu or Gore Magala but these creatures do not have eyes and are blind. So flashes dont work and they just end up blinding the team XD.
For gypceros flash, you dont need to block, just face the opposite way of the flash and it won't blind you
#logic.
You can evade the monster screams by diving too.
Btw you forgot to mention it works for long sword also
Poogie Rodeo! X'D I did so not know about that. Hahaha. I'm gonna try it.
It also works with long sword
I knew all 10 (both vid) and I'm a brand new player and rom what my friends said. really good too
Tip: you can dodge roars
just get the timing right
Tip 5 also works for Longsword
Long sword poogie?? Hahaha lol
I usually just jump away when Gypceros flashes
The video taught me nothing new, the comments taught me 25 new facts I didn't know ^-^
Oh and also i wish the game would explain to the new hunters about how traps worked like shock traps do not work on gypceros it might explain that but i dont recall it. Or how elder dragons cannot be caught in traps. I actually ran across several g ranks who tried to capture a daora when he was sleeping and i killed it with a GS 3rd charge and they said they were trying to capture it. *Face palm*
I expect people to already know everything here except for guard points and charging shields
Your #1 tip can be applied to the long sword
