I nice trick I usually use to see the weakness of a monster I've already hunted once, is checking at the Armorsmith any piece of it's set and use the resistances as a reference. For example, low rank rathalos helmet has -3 to dragon and -2 to thunder, as well as +2 to fire. Which means that you will deal more dmg with dragon and thunder and less with fire.
I would absolutely love a part 2 for this. Monster hunter 4 ultimate is my first monster hunter that I've ever played, and this helped me a ton. great video as usual, and keep up the good work!

Can you do tutorials for hunting specific monsters? Like Rathian hunting 101 or Zinogre hunting 101 or something like that. How to break their parts, their weaknesses and strengths. How to avoid a specific technique, etc. I know it's kinda handfull but that could really help a lot. It's way different just by reading the wiki. Just a suggestion though. Great videos btw. I'm a fan! :)
That's a pretty good idea, but I think it would be better if he were to to do it on specific monster type, for example, flying wyverns 101 would include rathian, rathalos and any other monster that fights like them, with a brief over view of each monster instead of a whole video dedicated to one. Then maybe he could have a general fighting technique for all of the monsters in that category. :D
+Arekkz Gaming Could you explain to me why some monsters like Zamtrios have 2 damage charts with different values on Kiranico? It's confusing 'cause one says that Thunder hurts it more and the other says it's fire.
I played a little bit of world in 2018, but had not played any other of the games (played toukiden 2 though, which is what got me into these games) I was worried I couldn't remember how to play, but after doing a practice hunt it more or less all came back to me. I'm glad I learned a bit about "world" though, as it's cut back a ton I need to learn for this game. More or less just needed a refresher on how it works.
Another note is that if you already hunted the monster, you can check the armor it makes. The same elemental weaknesses apply to the armor as it does the monster you are hunting.
I'm glad you did this one and it was great my suggestion of it was apparently already planned when I had suggested it on whatever video that was. I've got another suggestion this time too. I'd be interested in seeing a tutorial on upgrading the insect glaive, specifically the "give nectar to kinsect" portion. I get that you feed it nectar to increas it's stats but the number next to the stat, the growth points and required points are kinda confusing me. Anyway, I've watched all your MH4U tutorials and they've helped my learn a lot and, of the tutorials Ive found, yours have been the easiest to understand. Also, thanks for pointing out the ability to use potions while climbing; it's been quite helpful!

lol funny thing is i learned about the mechanic for collecting parts by breaking them from a completely different game; snake is one hell of a monster hunter.
At some point in the vid he mentions a wiki, for some of you internet is lacking or non existent, there is also a phone app with every drop chance, monster weaknesses, wishlist management, combining, key quests, list of quests and materials, so I encourage you to get it.
I just happened to fight my first high rank rathalos and I got 3 rubies in one run! That is so insane. And because I know how Monster Hunter likes to treat me since Tri, I will be farming for rare stuff for days once I get to the G-Rank. Actually, the rare droo I have the most problems with to get is the rathian plate. I did the combo quest with rathian and rathalos quite some times and all I got was a rathalos plate from a shiny drop... ^^
there are also ability that help you to get items from Monster. Like luck or expert in capture. Also, you can take drink plus milk to eat and it will give you the ability to good luck.
Do chopped tails still stay on the floor until the quest timer runs out? this was the case in previous games and its good to know as people often scramble to carve during a fight and put themselves in danger. Sucks when play it safe and then forget to cave, but remembering is part of being a good hunter.
I actually am curious about this too. I was hunting a Gore Magala in an expedition, and i broke his tail off, i let it lie there, because i got the message that the monster was about to flee- so i figured i'd come back and carve afterward. Unfortunately, when i came back, the tail was nowhere to be found! No idea if im going crazy, or if they disappear in expeditions, or just disappear entirely now.
***** When I'm solo I just carve right away unless its a tough monster or I'm low health. But when online I usually wait for the monster to move to another area (or dies) and then carve.

***** I can confirm that after enough time the tails do disappear. However, as you have mentioned, they last for a hell of a long time, and I've never had a situation where the tail disappeared before the monster died.
@ newbs 6:40 is an important lesson,dont frikkin do that if you dont have an armor that can take the hit, still seeing too many guys cart because they carved a tail when the Monster went after them

Dang the zamtrios charge blade looks cool. As a hammer user I kinda feel they are a bit underwhelming compared to the other weapons, or is that just the grass being greener on the other side.
TheFlyinSquid I'm a hammer guy to but the charge blades transformation is the best for me since like I said I use a hammer too and I'm used to carry a big weapon not a sword shield combo but once I used it a few times I liked it more since you can switch between fighting styles

The whole breaking parts thing frustrates me so much. Mostly because I want Gore Magla armor but I need to cut it's tail... It has a 63% chance to give a tail. No quest rewards give it so you have to chop it's tail and because RNG hates me I carved two tails and got two scales...
First time ever playing this game and I beat it in 7 hours and farmed for a few more before high rank. First time I killed gore magala I got a plate from a shiny and I got a plate from rewards. After any sword attack, if you press X+A together you'll perform a shield thrust, if you then press X+A again after a shield thrust you'll then automatically transition into the Super/Ultra animation. If you have a charged shield and phials, it'll go into Ultra (which you can cancel into super). :)

What is the best way to use the charge blade? I usually charge to charged axe mode, full sword charge, and then use the finisher, rinse, repeat. Should i use the charged axe/shield to attack, or the charged sword in axe mode to attack, or just do this?
Different people have different styles, but the way I use it focuses heavily around the Sword and Shield and then I switch to use Super (ultra cancel) and Ultra if the situation arises. For me it's usually Charge + Shield to fill phials, transfer charge to shield, charge + shield to refill phials, ultra cancel into super, rinse and repeat. The axe is obviously a really great part, but I find from a mobility standpoint being able to unleash multiple supers just lets me take down monsters quickly.
Question: What damage type do lances and gunlances do? I now the shells from gunlances do bullet damage, but I'm not sure what type of damage do the blades do
It would be nice to know what is expected from you if you play with randoms online. I have only played solo in MH games so far. So a few do's and dont's would be nice.
+SUPERSMASHJONY You can only get traps from crafting them. You buy Trap Tools at any store aside from the Wyporium, then combine it with Nets and Thunderbugs for Pitfall and Shock respectively.
isaac franks yes, it is. It's an advanced form. not the base brachydios charge blade. when some weapons are at highter rarity, the basic design for them changes somewhat. While not the base Brachydios Charge Blade, The Dios Stingarm, it's probably the rare 6 version, the Demolition Charge Blade, or the rare 9 version, the Fulgent Demolisher. It's an upgrade of the brachydios model charge blade.

Took a look at the weakness chart and I understand the weapon damage to certain parts of the monster's bodies and what traps and items work on the monster but the elemental part is a bit confusing. Can some one explain it for me or link me to an explanation?
many weapons have a type of element damage like for example a weapon that does fire element damage is a good weapon to use against a great jaggi which takes higher damage from fire but a fire weapon would do little/non against something like a Tetsucabra but takes a high amount of damage from a water weapon compared to other elemental damages and the higher the number on the chart the higher the damage at least on how the wiki does the charts i haven't really looked at other sites
Thank you. Yeah I know certain monsters are weak to certain elements. You have to know that with the LBG with I mostly rocked during MH3U, I just didn't really understand how to read the chart he linked us to but I think I understand it now.
This might sound insane, but when doing tutorials and stuff, could you make the effort to ONLY show early monsters? I like the 'OMG' factor when you see a big monster for the first time.
I was a little disappointed to see monsters could still use part-specific attacks even if you cut off said part (like Rathians poison tail flip or Tetsucabras rock crush). I guess it would be too easy balance-wise if that wasn't the case, but it would have been thematically cool.

I still play it to this day. That’s how good the game is. One of the best 3ds games in my opinion.

I love hunting rathalos, when they're frenzied is when the real fun starts

you can cut tails with impact, just hit the tail a lot and the use a boomerang and wait for your felyne to attack that part.

SylemGistoe Tails will stay as long as you kill the Monster, however, if it flees like they do in expedition the tail will go away as well.

also hammers are a little meh in this game but decorations can make a hammer do amazing things as I'm sure you know lol sorry for typing so much too

Wasn't fin you showed in normal rewards while a break would place it in the lower boxes for a break reward? You got the point across, but still.

The Insect Glaive does both, it's awesome! The top part of the rod does cutting damage, the bottom part of the rod does impact :)
And certain Insect Glaives tend to do more of one or the other, I believe.

Chan Wharton its automatically registered as being 'picked up'. Same goes for Gore Magala horns and other horns/tusks

How did you do a swing with your sword, shield bash, and then follow up with the ultimate attack after?

The axe is obviously a really great part, but I find from a mobility standpoint being able to unleash multiple supers just lets me take down monsters quickly.

+SUPERSMASHJONY You can only get traps from crafting them. You buy Trap Tools at any store aside from the Wyporium, then combine it with Nets and Thunderbugs for Pitfall and Shock respectively.

isaac franks yes, it is. It's an advanced form. not the base brachydios charge blade. when some weapons are at highter rarity, the basic design for them changes somewhat. While not the base Brachydios Charge Blade, The Dios Stingarm, it's probably the rare 6 version, the Demolition Charge Blade, or the rare 9 version, the Fulgent Demolisher. It's an upgrade of the brachydios model charge blade.

U can also press both x and a at the same time to immediately go to the last phase

TheDarkOrigins impact are like hammers hunting horns and the insect glaive can be impact and cutting

Took a look at the weakness chart and I understand the weapon damage to certain parts of the monster's bodies and what traps and items work on the monster but the elemental part is a bit confusing. Can some one explain it for me or link me to an explanation?
many weapons have a type of element damage like for example a weapon that does fire element damage is a good weapon to use against a great jaggi which takes higher damage from fire but a fire weapon would do little/non against something like a Tetsucabra but takes a high amount of damage from a water weapon compared to other elemental damages and the higher the number on the chart the higher the damage at least on how the wiki does the charts i haven't really looked at other sites
Thank you. Yeah I know certain monsters are weak to certain elements. You have to know that with the LBG with I mostly rocked during MH3U, I just didn't really understand how to read the chart he linked us to but I think I understand it now.

It's going to be up this evening, sorry for the delay, I've been at Call of Duty Championships all day, but it will drop in a few hours :)
I was a little disappointed to see monsters could still use part-specific attacks even if you cut off said part (like Rathians poison tail flip or Tetsucabras rock crush). I guess it would be too easy balance-wise if that wasn't the case, but it would have been thematically cool.
But by cutting off the Rathian's tail it no longer does poison damage and has a much shorter range. :D
jiffyb333 Well it poisoned me at least twice when it enraged afterwards. Sure the range got reduced, but I still got poisoned.

DestructoCopter I am not really a gunner expert but if I remember correctly there is a special type of amunition that inflicts cutting damage.
i tried but it wouldn't cut, i dont know if im shootin in the right place on the tail or if i have to keep shootin at it
