How is it possible that this band is not in the Hall of Fame. Most intelligent band not named the Beatles; outstanding musicians and one of my 5 best bands of all time. Thank you for sharing

who cares about the RRHOF? it's just a closed group of old dudes who make the pics, it's the golden globes of music. and wasn't even created until the 1980s. it's not like baseball HOF where voting is open.

Well, some say Ian Anderson is crazy, the pelican flutist. I say he s kinda out there, and some people just don’t like his eccentricities. Truly the band is one of a kind, I did enjoy back to the family album and others in the 70s.

I saw them twice in 3 days in March on this 1977 Songs From The Wood tour, the first night in Seattle, the second night from the third row at Washington State University across the mountains in Pullman, WA. The band was incredible both nights. Many feel that was Tull at their peak. HOWEVER most everyone who saw Tull on their 1972 Thick as a Brick tour agrees that was the band's peak and their favorite concert of all time. It certainly was mine.

Who plays the short flute piece near the begining of the song (a bit more than 30 sec in) in this performance?
It's not Ian at that point. Perhaps Martin or one of the other "lads".

In the mid 1970's, I was with the record promotions department at Chrysalis Records in Hollywood, Ca. One afternoon Ian came up to the offices (Tull was in town to play the LA Coliseum) to meet with one of the co-founders of the company, Terry Ellis. The meeting was delayed and Ian was walking around the office space quietly playing a 00-18 Martin guitar. He came into my office and asked where a decent place to have lunch nearby might be. I suggested Musso & Frank on Hollywood Blvd. He then started examining the stereo equipment in my office which opened up a whole dialog which ended in him asking me to join him for lunch. I was a huge Tull fan going back to the late 60's and I was a bit awe-struck to say the least. In addition to being one of the most creative, innovative and ingenious song crafters of that era, he was an interesting and humorous conversationalist as well. Funny, I don’t remember what the hell I ate, but I remember he ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich and a cup of black tea. An hour-long lunch almost 50 years ago forever burned in my memories.

My first exposure to Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson's flute was in 1971 or 1972 when I was about 13. We didn't have MTV or music videos so you sat on the floor of someone's bedroom passing around the album cover while listening to the music. I loved the flute and because it was my first, Aqualung is still my favorite album. I know this is crazy but my first exposure to Thick as a Brick was on a cassette tape that someone made! I still go crazy when I hear a Jethro Tull song and Ian's flute playing still sends me to another world. ❤❤❤

I met a guitarist beginner of course he INTRODUCED me to Jethro Till. Got the notification on. Drop everything. Waiting for notification. Can't wait. To get acquainted more with Jethro Tills. MUSIC carefree and relaxing hopefully as my health fails. Perhaps would have helped my late husband. It is on the operatic culture line Dvorjac Amadeus. What he loved with his whole heart RIP

Caught this very tour at the Boston Garden as a young musician of 21 years. Traveled from Maine together with my band mates. Being a drummer myself one highlight was Barry Barlow's captivating performance. The sound system captured every element of his playing and his kit. I was enthralled. In my opinion the band was at its absolute height with its most skilled members including John Glasscock on bass. He sadly died not long after this performance. I remember thinking how technically perfect the band was to 100 percent accurately play songs from the current album which I owned at the time. Flawless, One of my 2 favorite concert experiences in all of my life. Ask me about the other some 10yrs later.

Such a great time for Tull, and they did some great stuff to celebrate it! I've had this one for a long time, but I've finally gotten the Songs From the Wood 40th Anniversary box that includes both audio and video presentations of another show from November, 77. It has been reissued for about $40 instead of the $350 they get for the original release 7 years ago!
I remember my sister coming home from her first year of college with three albums she played constantly, and this was one of them. Great memories and check out the box if you love this time in the history of the band, and I certainly do!

One of my fav bands from the day. Started listening with Aqualung and never stopped.
Saw ‘Tull’ live at Maple leaf Gardens in Toronto where they toured “Thick as a Brick”. What an amazing concert. Everyone was anxiously waiting for the band to arrive on stage when a bunch of fellows, in dustman’s coats and caps and carrying brooms, got on stage and began sweeping. That just heightened the excitement for the concert to begin. After a few moments the coats came off and each band member went to his respective instrument and began to play. What an interesting way to start a concert. I will never forget that.
Thank you Ian and all the other band members for some amazing music and memories 🙏🙏🙏

    Life's long celebration's here.
I'll toast you all in penny cheer.
Let me bring you all things refined:

This tour was my first concert. Uriah Heep warmed up and then I was stunned and amazed for the next 47yrs and counting.

I saw the Songs from the Wood tour in Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium later that year. Opening song: Wond’ring Aloud
    It was impressive

Hard to believe this performance is 47 years old. Music is a strong trigger to the past.

Brillant performance, and Ian's voice with full strength...Nowadays I can't stand hearing his struggle.
