I worked this show I'm to the left of the stage , Ian Anderson is the most gracious individual I've ever had the chance to work for , and I have worked for many artists
I saw him in 1976 Germany very nice guy
We were supposed to work Pink Floyd but after the show the Stage Right guy said to just go but, we got parking, back stage and pink wrist band. 1994 New Orleans
I saw them in Miami ‘71?, 72 Ian Anderson is a musical genius😮
Ian Anderson is a musical genius and I love his facial expressions. I've been loving his music since i was a teenager, I'm 62 now. Loved those cod pieces too!!!
What venue was this?
Jethro Tull was so unique. Combination of medieval folk, art and hard rock. With one of the most eccentric front men of all time.
I'm sorry did they all just die in a plane crash or something that I'm not aware of ?
I think Broadsword and the Beast from 1982 is one of the best albums every made.
Pp
One of the greatest POETS of rock .
@@paulkwiatkowski1059 Ian Anderson is still going. Ya, saw him and the band in '83.
Mark Craney such a brilliant drummer. RIP❤
I took lessons from Mark in Sioux Falls SD, right after this tour, he was incredible! Nobody can play like him!
For me, 52 years ago, listening to this was like entering to another dimension and still is.
71 here. Ditto.
Half a century! Damn, I'm getting old.
This will live on forever 😊😊
I second that. My heart skips a beat when I hear him..
Yes we are 😁
Mark Craney was a Monster. Amazing!.
Yes he was!!! Fantastic drummer....Gone too soon.
Bungle in the Jungle was the first song I I heard back in the Early 70s. I was around 14. I've Loved Jethro Tull FOR YEARS,, I'M NOW 62 !!!!
Me too! I'm 65
Yo, igual. Soy peruano. Saludos
This is the best live version of Aqualung that I've seen. The highs and lows in the song are equally rivetting to listen to. Ian and the band always rose to the big occasions. Just fabulous.
The drummer in this version takes this song to a whole new level
Best version of Aqualung !! Mark Craney is epic on the drums !!
One of the best..
Bursting Out version is my favorite.
Absolutely. The last 50 years I have seen a lot of versions, but this one is absolutely fantastic. What a band this was.
Hear his monster drum solo on “uniform”!
Ziggy stardust agreed.
50 years ago today, this legendary album was released.
Mr Headbanger, I will be 69 soon so I feel the bittersweetness also. May God bless and see you later maybe, afterall, your user name is easy to remember. 💙🕊️💙
Beatiful
I was 20 in 1980, Rock-'n'-roll guy, this song is one of my top 10 of all-time, it's just such a powerful, emotional song. Amazing.
My mom told me Jethro Tull was the best concert she ever saw back in the 70s.
My dauther Is Born in 1978
I agree this is the best video video ever. It looks like he's doing his karate moves on stage. I saw Jethro Tull in the 70's and 80's and they rocked. Now it's 2023 and I, never get tired of them. It's epic.
Mark Craney killing it here! God Bless, and RIP Mark.
Damn impressive for a lefty...!
the music is ageless. never gets old.
Im a professional drummer my whole life. This drummer is Phenomenal!!!! His beats are literally Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!! Love this Song Man!!!!!!!
Mark Craney on Drums!..pasted away young from diiebties..So good!
@@stephencawker1565 Wow I Didn't know that. What a shame.!!!! Dude was Phenomenal Man !!!!! Thanks Brother !!!
I was friends with Mark (he even sat in with my band once when our drummer was sick) One of the sweetest people in the world. He also played on Gino Vinnelis Brother to Brother album. Wow such grooves. He was gone far too soon. Never drank or did drugs.
@@iteachguitar2u Wow. very Cool Story Scott. Dude Was Phenomenal Man !!!
@@iteachguitar2u My husband attended Berklee College in the mid 80's. The former Dean of the Percussion, Dean Anderson, helped out when Mark got sick by having a benefit fund raising event. He introduced Craney to a WHOLE lot of percussionists! Listen to the sick double kick chops in this song!
I will will never forget the first time I saw this on MTV in 1982. That drummer scared me!!! RIP Mark Craney
Don't forget, this was always one of the last songs they played--look at the energy they still had!! Seen Tull 28 times...
It warms my soul to watch Mark Craney on this cut!! We a tragic loss wayyyyy too soon. RIP Sir.
Show me anyone of todays musicians that could compete with this performance. Sensational, the energy permeates space and time. Amazing
I saw them live in Melbourne only about a year after the album came out. Anderson was dressed as Aqualung. A riveting performance throughout, with Ian Anderson a commanding presence. The concert ended with total darkness and a solitary telephone rang, quietening the crowd. A spotlight came on Anderson, and he picked up the receiver and held it out to the adoring audience and whispered: 'It's for you'😆
Ian Andersen was one of the preeminent artists of his time. Not only did he perform every note and lyric of every Tull song, he wrote them all.
Ironically he shares half the writing credit on Aqualung with his ex wife Jennie Anderson.
@@danielpearce2846 Yup, he said it was the only time he wrote lyrics with someone. "Snot running down his nose" was written by Jennie.
Was???
@@joerocker237 ??dead?
@@patsaklaras Um… No, He’s very much still alive last I checked…
Jethro Tull the best performer I ´ve ever seen at the time...still at the top after all these years !!!
Richard Lionheart from France 👍😎🇫🇷
I am so fortunate to be able to witness 3 Tull concerts right after each of these 3 albums were released: Aqualung, Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play. The shows I saw were all in my best friends area (Kansas City) and EVERY one of these shows are at the top of my list as being the absolute Best concerts I ever attended. I even saw Cream when I was in 6th grade and it was unbelievable, but these Jethro Tull shows were insanely fantastic! I will Never forget them as long as I am alive (and more than likely even after)!
Couldn't agree more. I saw them live many times in the 70's. I was blown away every single time.
Ian Anderson exudes stage presence. Damn, what a performer.
Ian Anderson stood alone!! A true musical genius!!!
one of the best frontman of all time!
Lysol and bananas ........the best !!!
Tudo
SO VERY TRUE.
Totally agreed! 👍🏻 Singer, song writer, performer, extraordinaire!
No doubt!
The talented Mr. Anderson. No one better.
one of the best songs ever
THE Greatest band of ALL TIME!!!
I am 57 years old. I rent a spare room to a 22 year old who favors music from the 80's. It came into conversation today and I cannot exactly recall what brought it up but I could not believe that he had never even heard of Ian Anderson or Jethro Tull.
you've gotta teach him/her some music history, that person is missing out a lot, written by a 21-year-old
This music will die with us boomers unfortunately. God bless the old rockers.
This is the song that got me hooked on his music. Early 70's concert in Memphis was awesome !!!
This is one of the best guitar solos of all time!
Absolutely agree.
Really
Martin Barre the absolute most underrated guitarist ever…
Absolutely!!!!
No doubt. Absolute work of art.
Saw Anderson at the Greek maybe a decade ago. His voice was shot and he had a stand-in vocalist. His performance was nonetheless awesome… not just the flautist him but his complete commitment to the band and the audience. A genius, a gem.
It's true
Oh My, Ian, what an amazing performance of you, man.. ❤️❤️❤️
MARTIN BARRE.......... GENIUS !!!!!!!!!
Without this virus, I've seen U live in Finland, with my Love one : )
Take Care guys -U never too old to Rock and Roll : )
Those drums are amazing
Ian Anderson always penned an honest song. He remained true to his art; never submitting to
musical trends just to turn a buck. A modern day minstrel indeed.
So eloquently put
Absolutely stunning. The musicianship is spot on!
And...Always has been!

I dont think these guys get enough praise.
The drummer was actually Mark Craney from South Dakota who was only in the band from 1980-82.
He also played with the Fowler Bros Band, Gino Vanelli, and Jean Luc Ponty. After Tull he suffered kidney failure and diabetes and it cut his promising career short.
Eddy Jobson is the violin/keyboard/fiddle player for this gig.
thanks for name of drummer cool awesome job on the drums mark
Oh the good old stoner days!!! ❤️
Keyboardist and violinist Eddie Jobson was a 'special guest' on this tour. He brought so much to every band he played with.
My 8 track player in my VW beetle driving to Florida to see my guy who was a keyboard player!!! Oh hellz yeah the memory's I listen to Jethro Tull constantly!!! Love love love this band!
Mark Craney was killing it. Martin Barre had the best tone. I remember this from the good old days of MTV.
Grande batterista 💖
Great singer and flautist and when he live he with a crossed leg bril what more can I say
I agree
I see them live twice in the seventies
I saw this video in 1987when I was 15 on MTV and became a Jethro Tull fan on the spot. That guitar solo was and still is awesome every time I see it
Ian Anderson hatte eine großartige Stimme
This was the first concert I have ever went to. I've been to several hundred since, but this one will always have a special place in my heart.
My first too, but at Madison Square Garden for this A tour.
Mark Craney is one hell of a drummer!
Excellent but not a scratch on Barriemore Barlow IMO
The 1st American to ever be in the band.
So much talent on display still love this song.
One of my all-time favorite bands EVER. I have seen them several times over the years and they never disappoint. I am in awe of their collective talents, and Ian Anderson totally blows me away. Nobody has mentioned the uniquely gifted Eddie Jobson, who toured with them several times (including on this tour) and played several instruments within a single song: electric violin, keyboards, and mandolin.
The BEST!!
Best guitar tone all time, mark craney is a monster!!!
What a voice!!!
shame that nowadays his voice is totally gone,he is one of my favourite singers of all time, very underrated and a super musician
+dreamer deceiver too ťrue,love him,he will always be class.x
Wow.. that is Mark Craney on drums. One of the most underrated drummers ever except for those who know who he is.
This drummer is wonderful.
Mark craney and he was incredible
Jamás habrá nada igual .......Ian Anderson .....Un genio total... reinventó la música.
Ian Anderson is definitely a one of a kind! A showman in spades!
Electric guitar guy for Tull was always underrated.
Martin Barre. I wonder if he ever played a bad show? Probably not. Guy was money.
INCREDIBLE GUITAR SOLO.
Correct! But I have to give some 'props' to the drummer - at least on this performance. ;-)
Electric guitar guy??? That’s effing Martin Barre, son.
@@rightchordleadership Right on brother! "Electric guitar guy" WTF
A maior tristeza é não poder encontrá-los em Porto Alegre no ano de 2021. Meu país é muito arriscado... Cuiden-se!
Ian Anderson is a true musician.
Dave Pegg is a beast! Great bass player!
The bass playing was out of control, along with everything else!
The first time I saw him was in 1973 on TV . Every Saturday morning Don Kershners Rock Concert was on. And I saw him play,Too old to Rock and Roll, Too young to Die. And he poured beer all over himself. After that I was sold on Him
They're crushing this. Jobson's contributions are brilliant. Barre and Craney just totally on fire.
I wish I could have seen them live!
With special guest Eddie Jobson on keys and violin, one of our greatest living musicians. Anderson and Jobson was a great pairing back in 1980, two music legends coming together to create the 'A' album and tour. Barre, Pegg and Craney completed this very special lineup.
Always awesome! Thank you for sharing and God bless everyone from Patrick
When this was in heavy rotation on MTV in the early days, loved it even though Ian Anderson scared the crap out of me. I am 47 years old now, and he still scares the crap out of me. And I still LOVE it as much as I did 30 plus years ago.
shit we old bitch.... I remember when I first heard this... I was like this shit is cool!
reno145
This is The Moody Blues on PCP...
The funny thing was, all the time while I was watching this back then, I was only paying attention to Eddie Jobson. I come back looking for this specific video after all these years for that exact same reason. Eddie Jobson was the standout (again), as was Mark Craney.
I was 11 watching mtv sometime in august 1981.
I'm 65 years old and I've been seeing this guy for many years. And he is awesome remember seeing him in 1968 in the sports arena in San Diego. This guy was awesome
one of the best opening riffs ever
Absolutely
What a theatrical appeal and a versatile singer!
This line up, The "A" album tour, was incredible!!! RIP Mark Craney. Excellent percussionist!
I too remember this video when it was on heavy rotation on MTV in its early years! The musicianship is killer! Mark Craney is off the chain on drums!!! Eddie Jobson playing the electric violin is so freakin cool! Definitely my favorite version of Aqualung.
They are good
That's the best version I've ever heard. Marc Craney was such a monster!
No way he could replace Barriemore Barlow!!!
@@TD06071951 Craney has cut gigs with Jean Luc Ponty and Gino Vannelli where he would make Barriemore look like a toilet. Dont even put Barlow in the same sentence as Craney.
@@regaltip8A You don't know too much about drumming, do you?
“Barriemore Barlow is the best Rock Drummer England has ever produced!“ John Bonham in his last interview with the Melody Maker.
Wow. I’m a Long time fan. This reconfirmed it.
That's how I feel. Isn't he great!
KILLER BASSLINE!!!
Incredible performance! Martin Barre is criminally under rated! Ridiculous solo! 🤘🏼
RIP Mark Craney, you are a great great drummer! Brother to Brother is an all time classsic tour de force of modern rock drumming., well done good Sir. I saw this tour, wonderful.
Killer drumming!
Forever Aqualung my Friend. Thanks Ian.
OMFG...40 years ago 😔🤘😔🤘😔
OMFG indeed...just thought the same!
What a masterpiece this is. Saw them at the LA Forum in the 70s.
Ian Anderson is so underrated as a frontman. Unique. A style that was original. The music was like a Medieval rock. They put on a show I’ll tell you.
Eddie Jobson on the electric violin is a great asset!!!
Theatrics meet Rock and Roll 🎸 Ian Anderson is the man!
Já vi essa música de vários shows... 77, 78... e muitos outros shows que eles tocaram essa música, mas nenhum teve o solo da guitarra tão bem feito quanto este. Melhor inclusive que o de estúdio... Parabéns!!!
My year of birth :-)
The thrill of Anderson contagious.
Same here.
One of my favorite guitar solos in all of rock n roll.
I was blessed enough to see Tull at the Pavilion in Boston 2008💚💞
Best concert I ever saw back in 69, Paramount theater ( FM KIRBY ) Wilkes Barre Pa.
I saw them in concert twice and this video makes me miss my youth , their concerts were soooo good.
Martin was on fire in this show.
+Bilbo Baggins Yeah, it's good to see him rock out like that. Sounds thick as a brick too.
Had a quadrophonic tape player in my 69 Camaro. Aqualung was/is a total masterpiece that has thrilled me for 50 yrs!!!
Aqualung is such a unique song. Loud in your face rock that quickly slows down in a beautiful classical melody, only to pick back up get get the listener’s face again. Topped with Ian’s iconic voice telling a story. There will never be another like Ian Anderson.
Since the age of thirteen, this is my favorite group. Now I am 64. I listen to Anderson all my life. What a blessing that we lived at that time, the birth time of the giants of rock music. From Russia with LOVE.
Sheer madness! Love it!
Yep, saw this too in 1974. Jethro Tull was amazing. Hope all these guys are all sitting by the fire now, enjoying a nice cup of tea, kinda like I am. We're all too old to have to worry about concerts anymore.
I can’t express how much I love Jethro Tull.
So very true. 69 and still in awe over him. There will never be another like him. I bet on it.
I literally wore this cassette out 40 years ago... GREAT music!!!
Diese Musik zu komponieren uns auf die Bühne zu bringen ist ein meisterwerk
First time I saw this was many years ago, in Adelaide, started with jumping out of smoke straight into this song.
sometimes it's really hard to believe that Ian Anderson didn't use drugs.
***** Ian never even tried marijuana!
Neither did Nugent or Zappa!
To paraphrase Spock: it’s easier for a civilized man to act like a barbarian then for a barbarian to act like a civilized man.
Nowadays they have a name for people like Ian it’s called ADHD look it up if you never heard of it.
Drugs don’t add anything that isn’t there already. It’s just inhibitions and lack of imagination.
bons tempos ja não tem mais esses musicos geniais
