This video was hard to watch before 2000 because y’all clearly don’t know context to many of these series. Like how y’all thought Magic should’ve been a 5x FMVP just because of stats, but thought he should win as a rookie over the league MVP that had better stats. Makes no sense

Kareem was the undisputed best player in the world in 1980 and Kareem outplayed him and Bird in the 85 Finals at 38 years old. That burst of energy Kareem came out with in game 2 and for that rest of that series surprised everyone even the Lakers

They say context a lot here, but teams were only scoring 95ppg when bird and MJ were putting up 30. not 120 and 130 games like they r now/ so look at the reference of the percent of total scoring would be a FAR better comparison when comparing them.
teams putting up 120 has nothing to do with the stats the role players are better the highest ppg average is actually lower now than the 90s also kd put up much much much better stats than mj did in 97 98 for sure 96 and the other three are s

Numbers wise it’s not super crazy or anything but that series meant a lot for Steph’s legacy, and he played so well people forget he was being guarded by that year’s DPOY💀. Plus that game 4 was one of the best takeover playoff games I’ve seen to shift the momentum in a series.

Not one of my favorite videos from the guys. Sage and Solz, I love you fellas, but for these types of videos, you really need to know a lot about your subject matter. Skipping over ALL of the early Finals MVPs pre-Magic was dumb. I know a lot of people are dismissive of the NBA pre-1979 but it still is important to talk and learn about it. I’m a younger fan myself, but I love that era of basketball. Heavily underrated.
There was so many great players and Finals MVPs then, so to see them all brushed off here didn’t sit right with me. Never mind the fact that there was randomly guys pre-Jerry West who were listed as Finals MVPs even though the award didn’t exist yet. Again, this isn’t me hating. But I just wish Sage and Solz learned a bit more about the early NBA so these videos would be more fairly ranked.

Imo the best Finals performances I've ever seen in my life were Wade & Giannis. Sidenote, I didn't watch basketball until 2000, so I personally didn't see any of MJ's performances, but from what I'd imagine, Wade & Giannis' performances were Jordan-esque. Also, why do yall have some non-Finals MVPs in these rankings, like KG, OKC KD, & the Wade that's in the B-tier?
