Idk maybe it’s just me but using shooting percentages decreasing is my main pet peeve for calling someone bad in the playoffs. Like yeah, they didn’t shoot 53% for an entire playoff run when they play the same team for two weeks when they can constantly scheme and gameplan on how to specifically slow you down as your team’s number one option. Not to mention how many times do you face teams with worse defense the further you get in the playoffs? The teams who advance are usually top 10 in defense or have the requisite skills on defense to slow down their opponents. Decreasing by like 4-5% isn’t the best but it ain’t like they going 2/25 every game
You're right. Changes in shooting splits from regular season to playoffs really need some additional context to know if they mean anything. Maybe something like the median change and/or the bottom quartile among playoff participants. One could be extra granular and use mpg or games started to filter for high impact players. Or some other criteria that selects players that have similar roles within their teams.
@anthonynorman7545 exactly of course David's percentage is higher in the regular season than the playoffs is because he didn't have to play Hakeem 7 straight times this goes for every player they are most likely playing the best defenders in the league every night compared to the regular season where you don't play the top guys as often
But then there's the all time greats who don't have those kinda dropoffs. Like, Steph drops 2.2% on his career, LeBron and Jordan both drop 1%, Kobe actually goes up, although it's only .1%, Bill Russell isn't even known for his offense and he drops by just 1%, Shaq drops 2%, Tim Duncan by .5%, etc., so to think about guys who were arguably on their level when you compare regular season numbers, for the all time greats to have these slight dropoffs then guys who start dropping by 4-5%, it's not hard to say "yeah, Karl Malone should be top 15 all time, if he didn't drop by 5% from the field come playoffs"
The only defense ill give Patrick Ewing is I play pickup with guys who are better perimeter shot makers than some of the guys he played with in new york. That being said he did force A LOT of bad shot and settled way to much for post up jumpers at times.
Wilt “dropping” down was still the best scorer in the league. If you go from beating everyone by a mile to beating everyone by an inch you still beat everyone.
@@SlippyNips412 actually he only really lost to Boston at his prime. And everyone lost to Boston. LA had two guys avg more then 30 in a series and they still lost. @MrSlashblade he lost to Boston everytime except once. He was supposed to be the best player anybody ever seen that standard he was held to was more than fair. @@urbaindelva7869say 2 different series go to 7 games. Team A wins game 1, Team B wins games 2 and 3, then they trade off and Team B wins the series. He choked and got outplayed by 1994 Hakeem
7:35 Kawhi shot for me too SOLZ 😂😂
There are two type of nba fans, fans that like to watch basketball and people who like to argue.
I got love for both of y’all but BSolz I know we would be friends if we knew each other. Y’all keep up the great work.
Emflop he flopped so many times falling over lmao 🤣
Jason Tatum should be there honestly 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
JT Choke Artist 🎨
If you take the 3 year stretch KD was on the warriors away then you could argue it. But then again those years happened so
It slipped a choke because you lost 2 games straight while you needed to win 1
But we see that happen often, though, so it's at the point where it's not that big of a deal. A 3-1 or 3-0 lead, though? Those leads are rarely blown.
Kevin Wayne Kevin Wayne 🙌🏽😂
Yeah, him putting David Robinson and critiquing The Admiral for having inefficient games against HAKEEM is crazy.
@anthonynorman7545 no it's not he was fucking awful
He prolly put Karl Malone at 1 because he's a LeBron fan and pushing the agenda that Jordan faced a choker cause ain't no way he's over Harden
Having seen both of their careers, I can definitely see how Karl Malone is number 1. At least with Harden, you could count on him to make free throws.
Mj meat rider?
mJ glazer💀
The only defense ill give Patrick Ewing is I play pickup with guys who are better perimeter shot makers than some of the guys he played with in new york. That being said he did force A LOT of bad shot and settled way to much for post up jumpers at times.
Sage argued himself into a corner
Sage....you're not winning this Melo debate bro lol
WE NEED MELO BAG REVIEW
Wilt “dropping” down was still the best scorer in the league. If you go from beating everyone by a mile to beating everyone by an inch you still beat everyone.
But he didn't beat everyone that's the problem. He dropped dramatically and lost way more often than he won. And quit a few times too
@@SlippyNips412 actually he only really lost to Boston at his prime. And everyone lost to Boston. LA had two guys avg more then 30 in a series and they still lost. You look at wilt before LA, He beat everybody else but Boston except for Syracuse once. I’m not gonna hold him to a standard that very few people figured out, and nobody figured out more then once
@MrSlashblade he lost to Boston everytime except once. He was supposed to be the best player anybody ever seen that standard he was held to was more than fair. And time after time he failed and Bill Russell came out on top. Still an all time great but major major blemishes come post season time his whole career
@@MrSlashbladeso it shouldnt matter that lebron was getting fucked in the finals by golden state?
@@SlippyNips412 okay and nobody beat Boston more then once, he might be more talented then West and Baylor separate but clearly not combined so no it’s still not fair. Just imagine if Jordan best player remained Oakley and always faced a 86 like Celtics team over and over. It just doesn’t make sense when he couldn’t beat the team that everybody couldn’t beat.
B Solz I for sure thought of the Kawhi shot first
B Solz that beanie fuego
Thanks
I did not mean to do that. Light 2 dollars down
Chris Paul is definitely a top 10 choker he has lost 6 game 7’s in a row
NBA record btw
2:27 But nah fr what was blud cookin😭😭🤚
Sage look high asfff 💀
Naw that melo shit had me dying 😂
The caping in this is the nastiest I ever seen
Biggest Playoff GAWK GAWK in NBA History
Embiid retired Danny Green after fallin on his knee, no cap. Dude a 7 footer with 300 lbs just casually falling on a paint full of players.
It's crazy how one run can completely change a player's perception, like Dirk was a notorious choker until 2011 after which he immediately became a "top 10 most clutch" player
The thing is he never deserved the choker label.
They did him dirty just because of that 2007 year
22:44 ay man best list I’ve ever seen
17/19 playoffs, 3 finals and not a single ring and the drop offs. Number 1 was right
2 chance to win 1 game is crazy yes
You all caping hard af for CP3 is weird. Dude is the known playoff choker of our generation
But seriously when did we start tracking 2-0 to 2-1 lead losses?
The same way Joel is known as 2nd round, CP3 being that up until 2018 being the best player on so many great teams he’s to me definitely top 10
The blown leads is just criticizing teams for the order in which they lost their games
Edit: I said something about Julius Randle not knowing he was basically playing injured in the last playoff series
Which is valid. Not all losses are equal
I'm confused by this. Elaborate?
@@urbaindelva7869say 2 different series go to 7 games. Team A wins game 1, Team B wins games 2 and 3, then they trade off and Team B wins the series. Now a second series: Team A and B trade wins games 1-4, Team A wins game 5, then Team B wins games 6 and 7. In both scenarios Team A lost in 7 and Team B won 2 games in a row somewhere in the series, but the narrative difference is that in scenario 2 Team A “blew a 3-2 lead”, while they didn’t have the opportunity to blow said lead in scenario 1. Hope that makes sense
@@urbaindelva7869Basically whether they blow a 3-1 or a 3-2 lead, or a 2-1 lead (assuming the leading team wins one more game), they still lose in 7 games. The only difference is the order they lose their four games.
Randle had to get surgery the moment they got eliminated. Please dead the idea of him “choking” when the guy is playing with no ankles on either foot. Only other time he’s made the playoffs (where he performed bad) was his playoff debut where his spacing consisted of Elfrid Payton, Reggie Bullock, RJ Barrett, and Taj Gibson. Please bffr.
As much of a lebron stan as Barry is, I'm surprised he didn't find a way to call steph and mj chokers
Uh he's just honest with his opinion he doesn't hate on other players just to hate
Steph literally had one series in his playoff career in which he choked (2016 Finals), and MJ basically had almost none. That's why they're not on the list. The list is based on players that ROUTINELY choke and/or underperform.
@@Zythroxes well he constantly brings up kd joining the warriors and ruining the nba and uses kd to discredit 2 of stephs rings. While simultaneously refusing to acknowledge that lebron did it first in miami. Kd ruined stephs legacy but wade and bosh and one of the deepest benches in history didn't so much as blemish lebrons sooo....
@@dustinjones1346Bron joining the Heat ruined the NBA and hurt LeBron's legacy... Add on his 2011 Finals(the biggest choke-job by a top player in NBA history), and he's out of any real consideration for GOAT.
cause the leageu was still competitive. there were teams to challenge the heat. bron just made even playing field. warriors without kd itsefl was the best team in the league. There was only 1 winner there@@dustinjones1346
"Melo never had the proper roster around him facts",
Chauncey Billups, Amar'e Stoudemire, and many more good role players would like to disagree. In fact, Jeremy Lin literally lead a great record with said roster that he had when he was in the knicks.
15:39 noooooooo as a raps fan I seen that shit though
CP3 100% deserves to be on this list
Solz is #1 instigator HAHAHA
Sage did Melo dirty with this one
I’m a sixers fan have watched most their playoffs runs fully sinc embiid and all I thought was Kawhi shot 😂😂
Paul George better be on this list lol
Ewing literally just eastern conference Robinson
Chris paul is in the top 5 for his position arguably and is called "point god" and can be seen as the direct reason for thr loss in a lot of cases, not just on the team. I think that distance is why
Chris Paul just shows me as a basketball fan how hard it really is to win a nba championship
I recon in a few years Tatum and Brown are gonna be on this list.
Christopher Paul solidified his top 10 status last year when he randomly "got old" in the middle of the series. We've never seen that level of drop-off -- of PROLONGED drop-off in the playoffs. We thought he was retiring after that
Mavs-Suns series
The Kevin Durant hate is crazy.
Cp3 was surrounded by great players every year
Joel a choke artist
Ngl, where’s d book?
How dont you guys see the cp3 argument? His stats may have been fine overall but in big moments he consistently came up small. 2014. 2015. 2019. 2022. All choke jobs. Most blown 3-1 leads as a player...Those are 4 examples that are insane for a top tier point guard... he absolutely belongs on this list. Probably even higher.
You dont get that from just checking his career stats season to playoffs...
Most blown 3-1 leads as a player? He only did it once. I’ll give you 2014 and 2022 even though this old cp3. 2015 he was playing on one leg and if you actually WATCHED the series he played well in game 6 and 7 his team just let him down. And in 2019 he was clearly not the same he was hurt the whole year
