    The fact that people think it's defensively skewed when you get points for leading the league in points and assists but not blocks and steals, and that ppg and apg account for more than 25% of most people's total score is mind boggling. A guy could win defensive player of the year, be 1st team all defense, lead the league in blocks and steals and that is still worth less to the total score than averaging 16pts and 5 assists per game

    • @tmjz7327
      @tmjz7327 Рік тому +17

      that is true, I don't think it's skewed towards defense because you get a lot of points from points/assists, but it's probably fair to say it is skewed towards DPOY winners, as winning a DPOY is effectively worth 20 points. Would you rather have someone averaging 30-5-12 with average defense (not all-nba caliber), or someone averaging 14-10-3 plus the DPOY? Those two have the same points, but I think in most scenarios, one would pick player A.

      The strength of the team factors into the player's individual numbers hence why Harden's MVP looked so inflated because he was the entire Rockets offense. I doubt including asg mvp changed much, but yeah taking away all nba team was kinda weird. He should’ve just not include mvp and dpoy and kept all-nba/all-defense cuz if they had that crazy of a season they would atleast get 2nd team. Also he has “leading the nba in points” so he does include scoring titles.

    • @riquetc0060
      @riquetc0060 Рік тому +6

      All star game MVP is odd, but including regular season MVP is stupid asf for obvious reasons. I guess asg mvp is included because it used to be really competitive and shows a players ability to play well in big games since it used to be taken very seriously. Either way, those 5 points wouldn't make much of a difference anyways.

    • @treyboy8732
      @treyboy8732 Рік тому

      I get the all-star game MVP shouldn't count but like somebody else said it probably didn't swing to much in most cases. PRA is heavily skewed to the offensive side since points is the biggest contributor when it comes to all time level players and players did get points for leading the league in a points, rebounds or assists. I think it evens out a lot in the end but if I would change anything I would include all nba selections alongside all defensive teams selections and weigh the points based on if it was 1st team, 2nd team etc. and replace ASG-MVP with regular season MVP. MVP and DPOY would both be 5 points because it is voted. Also include points for leading the league in blocks and steals.

    I think the point of the video was to see what score the best NBA players could get in a single season both offensivly as well as defensivly, lets take a guy like Rodman for example the man dindt score a lot and most of it was due his own choice but no one can argue his impact on the game especially on defense, the all stars games MVP i agree is a bit much cause things like minutes played could afect how much u can score.
    But in the end its just mindblowing how unreal MJ numbers can get, no matter what stat u pick or metric u use MJ insane prodution is incredible and the fact that this man dindt play for 20 seasons and took time away from the league and still tops the chart?

    Considering that this is a look at the best individual REGULAR SEASONS of all-time and it's only using certain stats to determine the metric, this all makes sense. Obviously, the numbers constantly support the agenda that it was indeed Michael Jordan's world and we were all just living in it. However, this does put into perspective just how close some of those MVP races were in some of those seasons. For example, the 2018-19 season. It was between Giannis and James Harden for the MVP race, and Giannis won the award. Looking at it from Jxmmy's season score, Harden had 121.3 and Giannis had a score of 120.9. I would say that the season scores were so close, that just based off of that metric you could not go wrong with either of them to win. Same could be said for the 2020-21 MVP race (Jokic 113.0 and Giannis 114.0). In both seasons, both the number one and number two player, were just so close to each other, that it made the decision just that difficult. Dope video overall from Jxmmy, showcasing exactly why he is indeed one of the GOATs of NBA UA-cam.

    Not including postseason levels the playing field and makes the rating more fair. Keeping it to the regular season allows everyone on the list a fair chance to fall into the criteria he has laid out. Any player can play well enough to have a chance to make and possibly win the all-star MVP. An all-star or defensive 1st teamer has no chance to win a finals MVP if their team can't make the playoffs. As he stated this is focusing on who had the best seasons individually. If we added playoffs MJ probably has 8 or 9 of the top 10 seasons.

    I know yall don't care, but here is how I would decide who has the best individual season, this is off the dome.
    All star mvp 3 points, All Star 5 points, all NBA team 7, all NBA first 9. All Def 6 points, first team 8 points, top 5 dpoy 11 points, top 3 12 points, won it 14 points.
    Top 4 in mvp placement 10 points, top 2 13 points, won mvp 16 points, arguably should've been unanimous (3 first place votes away from doing it, 2013 Bron, 00 Shaq, and MJ in 1996.)20 points. unanimous 30 points (ay curry the only one to do it).
    If you're over 25 points, 8 assists, 2 steels, or 1 block, you get 3 points. if you're over 30 points or 10 assists, 3 steels, or 1.5 blocks, it's 5 points.
    If you lead your team in 3 things that aren’t bad, its 10 points, an extra category is 7 more points.
    If your top 5 in league for something, that's 15 points. If you lead the league in something, it's 20 points.
    50 40 90 season or 60 over percent true shooting, 9 points.
    Make the playoffs one point, 3rd round 2 points, 4 points for the finals, and 7 points winning the ring while clearly being the best player on the team.
    If you do something that only 3 players have done that's good 23 points, 1 other player 24 points, the only player to do something like score 100 in a game, 29 points.
    Anybody who missed the playoffs has a negative 28 points, 26 points getting swept, 25 points losing in 5 games.
