I can appreciate doing HC annually but they don’t explicitly say that is what will happen…HC is an especially good event for me as a new player, cementing content and making new friends. I’d be sad if they did away with HC altogether.
Not sure why some still experience this to the level that makes it unplayable for them. Over the last 30 days, Ive felt lag twice. I was in a quest maybe a week ago and it froze for 3 or 4 seconds. The game needs a graphical update on old characters and NPCs. The difference between the Wood Elf and the old Elf (includes sun elf and drow) is very big. Gith as a race and Psionic as a Class. should be a priority. enter the Isle of Dread and see the water and are in Khortos and see the water. It feels like two different games.
Would you say DDO is an MMO i can just play on the side for the story? I mainly play WoW and don’t want to change that but I‘m really interessted in DDO‘ story content. Or does the game require heavy investment?
Yes, DDO is a great game for dropping in and out. The only "grind" in the game is reincarnating to make your character more powerful. This involves leveling 1-20 or 1-32 repeatedly doing quest content to get minor bonuses each time. This is a totally optional system unless you want to speedrun or solo the highest difficulty content. Note that some builds require "past lives" (previous runs to level cap and then resetting) in order to function, but there are a lot of good builds for what are called "first-life" characters, or characters that are brand new without any reincarnations. Strimtom has plenty of them in his build repository, which is in the description of this video. The game is overwhelming in the beginning, like more overwhelming than WoW. I recommend watching a little bit of one of Strimtom's guided playthroughs on this channel to help you get at least through the first few levels.
Personally, I find Paying a subscription totally worth it for this game, but yes it's worth it. Just warning you that going slowly does drag on, and it makes you feel like youre not making progress

Any idea if they're going to let you make a Stealthy Rogue or is it just "Hold Left Click" Rogues? My BF was really disheartened that he couldn't make a Stealthy Rogue so he could sneak by groups of enemies (When he'd dumped a ton of resources into it)... and he never could, he'd always get caught.
Neat stuff. Really wish they would have taken your suggestion to bank copies of items rather than store multiple copies of items. Getting difficult to play the game I love because of inventory management. Also, I really wish they had a way to put a little mail flag on the character list screen so you know which toons have mail rather than having to load every one every 2.5 weeks to see if they have mail.
Ok, I am not a great fan of FR lore but aren't Red Wizards of Thay really into Dracoliches (i.e. dragons)? I could see the new archetype being a Red Wizard (not a sorcerer) Also, the return of The Truthful One may be on the horizon? Because re-hashing old content is DDO's M.O.
The Cult of the Dragon are the ones into making and serving Dracoliches due to a deluded belief that "Dead Dragons will rule the world entire", from a badly translated ancient prophecy. The Red Wizards rule the nation of Thay in the east of Faerun, but can be found pretty much anywhere due to their trade enclaves in many cities and their constant seeking of power and treasure wherever it may be found.
I really hope they tweak Machrotechnic to make the mantle cheaper and also enable some of the HP bonus in t5 NOT rely on the mantle. My only issues with the tree

Not when there are games like BG3 around and soon Pax Dei, AoC, etc. DDO needs a new life. New engine, new developer, new publisher, etc.
Even when i dont play, i never let my vip expire, i just amass points. Because like skyrim, i never STOP playing ddo, i just take breaks. I know that i will have held my last child for the last time before i log off for the last time. I don't even have kids yet.

Almost 2 decades in now. I dont really think its worth mentioning as its no longer a bug, its a feature.
If they fixed duping, the lag would be fixed, the dupers abuse the connection to the game constantly to do their dupes

I tried and quit WOW 2 times. The AI of creatures in DDO are soo advanced compared to WOW

I'm using machrotech on my wizard on HC atm, and it feels really strong. It is restrictive, but the bonuses are good.
hopefully hardcore 10 returns with a bang because if we have to go a year without it just to get something lame i might lose it
