This is why the calm moments are so tense and the enemy so terrifying, in both the films and the game - when things go bad they go _really_ bad, _really_ fast. Overconfidence may be a slow and insidious killer, but the xenos are lightning quick and right up in your face. And then suddenly it's quiet again, with the shell-shocked survivors trying to relax and recover knowing that every moment is just one small mistake away from total disaster. It's total hell, bro. I guess that's why they don't say 'war is like a Sunday picnic'.

It is a game so they cant do aliens as powerful as they are, but still feels a bit strange. When you run, it just makes the detection line go faster, so you really aren't farther ahead running. You need to keep your team together and plan your engagements. You need to treat every movement ping like your life depends on it, because it does.
You need to set traps for the aliens and lure them into it. Even better is to do it without using your soldiers as it won't raise the threat meter. That means using sentry guns, mines, drones, fires, APC, etc. to kill aliens while hiding safely away with your team. FYI, sentry guns can be repaired over and over and over again, so there is literally no drawback to using them as the frontline and putting them in harms way. Overlapping fields of fire with sentry guns is amazing. Best is if you can get them literally facing each other from opposite sides.
Your use of flares is really, really good. Keep that up.
If you are engaging in face to face fights constantly, you aren't going to last long at all.

One thing I loved about the original is that we were t expecting the chest popper. When the first person had a facehugger, they brought it into the med bay, and saw that the facehugger would strangle the host if someone was trying to remove it. When it fell off on its own, they thought the threat was over.
I think this could be in the game in some really neat ways.
Getting caught by a facehugger would incapacitate the marine. Trying to remove the facehugger had a high (not 100%) chance of killing the marine.
You could unlock tech to try removing it in the field and back at base
There also could be ambiguity if a marine is carrying a xeno. (Until you unlock the tech). It would be terrifying if a marine collapsed mid mission to a chest popper. Or losing base staff to a chest popper at home.

Odd, I'm absolutely loving this series! Keep up the good work man!
Just some helpful tips though for you:
    1. Meds can be used to heal both heath AND stress. Click on the Marine and there's an option to give them pills. Uses a med kit but drops stress by 100 so super helpful in a pinch.
    2. You can click and drag the flamethrower, painting an area with fire. Use this to block doorways/hallways/choke points and force all the Aliens into the flames as they rush at you.
    3. Spend the 30 resources to buy upgrades for your guys, especially the ones with roles! They get really strong upgrades (example, you can make the recon sniper rifle silenced)
Hope you see these and can't wait to watch me!

Another tip Commander..... in the medical quarters , you only had 2 injured Marines , but 3 intensive care Doctors available and you only used 2 of them, you can give the same Marine as many doctors you want up to the total number of Doctors you have , so in this example you could have done 2 and 1 = 3 , you did 1 and 1 = 2. Each Doctor removes 1 a day , so not using them is delaying your Marines getting back in action sooner :)

Good stuff. Ok mate, we have to talk about two of your major mistakes so you can learn from them.
    1. You don;t have a good control of your squad. Before issuing a loot order make sure your entire squad is in the vicinity of the loot object. Also you often give sprint commands and not follow your squad. There is a bindable key which focuses your camera on the squad leader (default Home). Gotta keep a better eye on your squad, mate.
    2. You never use the tracker's distract noise. Trackers are basically free devices which only cost command points so you can pepper these throughout the levels. When you get detected, simply choose a tracker that is far away from your squad and engage the distraction noise. This way you can potentially send a few of the drones to the tracker leaving fewer drones to deal with.

I noticed this game takes the conventional tropes of this genre and uses it against the player.
Trope 1: move fast. You want to move fast because this is Aliens and they can come from anywhere. Reducing time on ground makes sense but the game do not throw random alien swarms and you know where the lone random aliens are from your scanner. You are more likely to trigger swarms while running around plus you can't fire while running plus the aliens moves alot faster than your marines. Solution: move normally.
Trope 2: search every box and body. You need supplies plus this is standard gameplay. The spin is a random marine searches the boxes BUT the rest do not accompany the marine to the box. As comments below and I have noticed, you can have a marine run to a faraway box to search while the rest of the marines take a smoke break. Problem ... well this video shows how bad things can get as the lone marine triggers an ambush and the others are too far away to help. Solution: take the extra click to accompany your marine and try to search only one box at a time.
Trope 3: Reactonary gameplay. Swarm attacks are not random so player can always prep for attack rather than react to an attack. The sentry gun is a great example ... it's free to setup and dismantle but it takes time and useless in CQB. Setting up a sentry gun when the swarm attacks is suicide as the swarm closes too quickly. By the time, the sentry gun is setup, the Aliens are on top of the squad and inside the sentry gun's dead zone. What is worse is you lose a marine's pulse rifle attack to setup what is a useless sentry gun. You are better off using suppressive fire, grenade launcher and shotgun close-in during those "surprise but not really surprise" swarm attacks. Solution: Always setup a defensible sentry gun position to fall back on just in case.

I'm just watching these now. It is stressing me out BADLY when you don't evac and take care of your poor Marines. You're not on a time limit (yet), level them up!

Loving the game, it's my goty. music, the way they make fan comments, but not too cringe like in other games, the difficulty, the weldings, the sounds, the gameplay, the stress of loosing marines on a bad call, and in the otherside if you are prepared you just crush the xenos, the cinematics, the univers. it's overall well rounded and only 30euros..! it's nice to see another point of view after doing the missions keep up 👍

More motion sensors everywhere! They cost only one command point and can be used to create distractions around the map. I use motion sensors quite activelly to draw enemies away from where I am exploring, everything I can to avoid increasing the aggressiveness of the hive needlessly.

The game is not that tough but he is rushing it so it dose look tough when you just run threw levels . In this type of game you need to keep it slow , in cover , hide from the xenomorphs and only engage when it's in your favour and don't split your marines ..that was quite dumb . I don't judge the way he plays , everyone is free to play as they want to but like i said , this game is not that tough if you play it correctly

The save system seems kind of odd for this type of game. If you lose a squad member to a fight, what is stopping you from just running the rest of your squad to their deaths and restarting at that save?

You can't start a new map with a 'medium" threat level, you will die fast. Has nothing to do woth you running, and everything with the xeno's already being on alert to your presence.

Odd can i just say i appreciate the effort youre doing in making these videos entertaining. While yes this is not the "optimal way to play" the situations your marines get into are classsic horror movie tropes with alien thematics too it. You're literally checking every box in a horror film 😂😂
