Midge Ure is a philanthropist and prolific musician. He was in several bands including Ultravox and Thin Lizzy. His solo hit “Dear God” is one of my favorites.

The singer is Midge Ure, who is arguably most famous for co-writing Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' with Sir Bob Geldof.

LOL, I keep remembering crazy good Ultravox songs, One Small Day and White China also!

And another Ultravox song you'll love is The Thin Wall. Very very New Wave!

Vienna was one of their best - his name is Midge Ure

Midge Ure was the original choice to be the vocalist of the Sex Pistols. He turned them down, probably due to Malcolm McLaren's involvement. He did play with ex-Pistols bassist Glen Matlock in the Rich Kids and also spent a short time involved with Thin Lizzy. He also formed Visage with vocalist Steve Strange before getting involved with Ultravox. Ultravox had been around for some years already, fronted by John Foxx.

Midge Ure the vocalist with ultravox was a co-creator of the whole band/live aid phenomenon with Bob Geldof. Very gifted singer , the voice and Vlenna next please.. ps nice to see you hitting the 80's Synth scene..some OMD please..all the best to you and yours over the Christmas period...

You got me searching up rotary phone parts. Both my wife and i knew it as the reciever but all the internet pictures are saying its called a hand set . the bit you talk into is the transmitter and the ear part is the reciever. But the whole thing is the handset. You can stop searching now! Lol

This band had lots of big hits and a few member changes but they are one of the new wave bands from england that Ive always enjoyed.
If your enjoying new wave music , check out a great US new wave band called The Cars. (Alot more up beat and quirky) Probably start with thier song "Just what i needed"

You need to react to Vienna by Ultravox

I can't help but notice so many reactors lately stating the exact same sentiment... world's end maybe not such a bad idea 😮

I love Ultravox but I find this video totally distracting from the song. I wish you had listened to the song first because then you'd mention the incredible beat, production and songwriting instead of reacting to a video. Now the video to their song, Vienna actually supports the music instead of distracting from it. Vienna and Reap the Wild Wind are must hears from Ultravox, and Midge Ure, the lead singer, has another must hear song, If I Was. Great stuff!

A video can definitely transform the interpretation of a song.
It's not always easy to pick which version to go with for a first listen. Some people want studio first, some want video, some want a live. 2 out of 3 will be unhappy 😃
But definitely understand your point! Thanks for watching and the recommendations.
