Chris openly spoke of his battles with depression and drug addiction and he bravely put it into his lyrics. In the end he couldn’t overcome his demons and he left us way too early. It just goes to show no matter how famous, rich, or talented you may be you’re still human and you still have to deal with all the ups and downs like everyone else. R.I.P. Chris !
I always felt like that first verse summed up Chris's life. One of my favorite songs he ever had. Hope you found your peace Chris. You helped me find mine many times.
R.I.P. Chris Cornell...he was struggling with mental issues that most of us struggle with....the pain of being human. It was a very successful book in the 70's called "The Pain Of Being Human" by Eugene Kennedy. Very great read and very insightful which is very relevant for today. Like what are we here in this life for ...... to surfer....to grow in suffering....the species is not improving in it's emotional or mental development, so why are we here....and Chris decided to end it. It is sad.
Their early stuff is often overlooked. I suggest Hands All Over (quite perky for them 😄) or Beyond The Wheel (very heavy, with Chris hitting some really high notes)

Slaves and Bulldozers is a must
We all have those days unfortunately, but we gotta keep going....what a voice!
His solo song Seasons on the Singles soundtrack is amazing.

soundgarden has many great Dark Songs
Nice reaction. Depression means different things to different people but for me this song describes what it is more that any other song I know.
