This is about fears in life which may stop you moving on, if you only listen to them. Marco was painting all kind of horrific images what is lurking you in the river of life, if you dare to try to cross it. Floor how ever was representing your dreams, bravery and goal. Floor is trying to encourage you to overcome your fears, but she also tells that you will never get to her, if you don’t have the courage. Nightwish is often using the childrens voice to represent the inner child or innocense.
I believe it's a metaphor for the river of life. Marco is all the negativity and doubt that keeps you from living your life whereas Floor is the optimism and positivity. We're all going to die, it's how you live your life that's important
You can say you are not understanding the song well without worries. Some of their songs do require some reading. I did wonder some time ago as well. It seemed as if there's two entities singing to the child. But I saw a post that explained it well and I hope it helps: "Tuomas said in a interview with spazziorock that this song is framed around a battle between mother Gaia and the devil. These two entities represent the basic feelings of humans when they go through life. Gaia represents the feelings of happiness, hope, and love. This idea is amplified by the mysterious music around her voice when it is heard, alluring you to the many possibilities of life. The devil represents all of the sorrow we feel in our lives. His music is intense and frightening, making the listener uncomfortable while listening. He keeps telling the "child" that the two are fighting over to give up, that he will die a painful death. Notice that in the song they both yell "believe it! We live as we dream/scream! " at the same time, implying an internal battle within the child. Should he give up and not fight this battle, or should he push through the hard times (the river) and push forward onto the hope on the other side? Of course, the conclusion and message of the song is one that Tuomas would be expected to write; never give up. When Gaia tells the child "never lose your heart and do come across" she's saying never to give into the darks and evils in life, and to cross the river of hardships in order to achieve the happiness on the other side. We acknowledge that they exist, but we are to realize that fighting through them and experiencing them will lead us to truly appreciate the happy moments in life." The way Floor and Marco go back and forth, the way Floor's enchanting voice overlaps with Marco's dark lines and his growls both fighting to influence the child. It is one of my favorite songs. :)
Great analysis! This is a top song for me too, I feel it’s under appreciated because it’s less complex musically than some of their others. But damn what a banger!
There are good versions with Floor and with Tarja. The singing part right after the guitar solo is going to throw you off with either singer. So far you only heard Floor. This might be a good opportunity to compare the two, because it is a rather short song (5mins) - but don't judge who's better! 😀(I know you won't)
You said you want to take it down. You know how some days every thing is going wrong you just in a bad mood? Three Nightwish songs guaranteed to lift your spirits are My Walden, Alpenglow, either of those from Tampere or Wembley and the third song I Want My Tears back from Buenos Aries 2018. No matter how bad your day is going listen to those three songs and you just can't help but feel better afterwards.
It's all metaphors and symbolism with most Nightwish stuff, very deep, very philosophical, about life, what we do with it, what we leave behind us with the ripples we leave in the river of life. Absolutely love this one, maybe just a fraction more than Romanticide, but there's nothing in it really. Maybe check out Floor and Troy performing an acoustic version of How's the Heart on Planet Rock, it's pretty special, so here's a link ua-cam.com/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/v-deo.htmlsi=lBNuKoYAPEB9OyxI
@Abi: ok. Maybe... maybe a good one to start is Epica feat. Floor Jansen "Sancta Terra" live. You really need to have a look at them. Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation are the big three of Symphonic Metal, you will love them all. Like your journey with Band Maid, Babymetal and Band Maid. Trust me. My favourite one you haven't seen yet. You are still at Wacken 😂. Softer Nightwish? I would recommend "Dead Boys Poem" Buenos Aires live. But you will need tissues *lol*
I love how Emppu talked about his part in the song....how he wasn't able to really find his path through it until he "Van Halen'd" the very opening to it, and then it just flowed. Because that opening riff is VERY Van Halen sounding in the tone. :)
Analysis from a reddit post. I think this song is about a person, downtrodden and depressed, contemplating self-harm or worse. The river represents the journey of life. Floor is the voice of reason and self-preservation, telling him to fight against the river’s pull to the bottom and to enjoy the ride with the ultimate goal to come across to the other side, safe and happy. Marco is the dark side, the inner demons, the doubt, the fear, working against the person, hoping the river will drown them and be their “last ride.” This is evident in the way each of them sing. Floor addresses the subject with compliments (never met a kinder heart than yours) and words of encouragement (beautifully shy as you are, never lose your heart). Marco on the other hand is cold and insulting, even calling the subject a “child of rape”. The choir of children represents all the souls drowned in the river, their ghosts trapped forever. The lyric "leave a footprint on every island you see" is significant I think.
and I strongly suggest she reacts to the Wembly 2015 performance instead. Much better musically and visually. Tampere just has the home country crowd, and fireworks.
Choosing between the 2 songs is not easy; as they are both ones I really enjoy. But I think if I HAD to choose, I would pick Ghost River. But it was not an easy decision.
Great reaction! I believe this sonng is from Imaginaerum and Tuomas has said most songs on the album are about the positive aspects of life but to make them shine they need to be contrasted with some darkness. Ghost River does that on the album.
this song is about that river of life and sometimes it can take us places that some of us don't return from if you don't know to navigate and how sometimes others use that darkness to lure people to where they want them to go even though it isn't good for them
My favourite of all will be Dead Boy's Poem live in Buenos Aires, most personal song for Tuomas I guess, well, Lanternlight from the last album also is very personal for him, I also think that the perfect one has to be Ghost Love Score and Greatest Show on Earth has to be their Mount Everest, but every song they make is a masterpiece, in my opinion I´d say their best ballads are While Your Lips are Still Red Live Wembley, Shoemaker (any version), Our Decades in the Sun, The Islander Live Tampere, Slow Love Slow (studio version) and Lanternlight, great reaction as always, keep rocking and stay safe!
Haunting Floor caused instant floorgasm. Very good reaction again. Both "Romanticide" and "Ghost River" are ones of my favourites of Nightwish, but I like "Ghost River" a little more. You asked a little softer song after this, I would recommend song called "My Walden" from Tampere concert. Greetings from Finland.
Jukka the drummer said his favourite song to play is Nemo and his performance in this one shows that 😊 Sahara live at tamper is the one often overlooked by reactors
Romanticide, without a doubt. It's one of my all time favorites (though I do have quite a list of all time favorites). You know, so far you have seen Marko characterizing mainly the dark against Floor's light. If you want to see what his clean voice is like, and take it down a bit at the same time, I suggest that you take a look at Nightwish's cover of "High Hopes". No female singer at all. Marko takes the lead and all of the guys have a chance to really shine. Especially the guitarist, Emppu, who delivers a couple of absolutely stunning solos.
I like Romanticide a little more, but this is great too. Love when Floor comes in following the children's choir, almost acapella, and sounds so gorgeous.
Life is full of dangers. You must face them if you want to live your life. There are several dark NW songs, but all seem to contain a message of hope. For me, this one beats Romanticide because I can relate to the message more in my experience. My favourite "soft" songs are "While Your Lips Are Still Red" and "How's The Heart".
As I understand it, the river in this song represents the journey of life. But these two opposing/perfectly complementary voices remain a mystery to me, as it is impossible to understand which is the voice of reason and self-preservation and which is luring the children to their doom. Floor's voice can be both soothing and encouraging, but it can also sell false ideas of greatness on the other bank that await those brave enough to take risks, but with the real intention of drowning them. Marko seems to represent a demon who proclaims an inescapable danger, but at the same time it could also be a parent reading a scaretale to their children, warning them to stay away from all dangerous bodies of water. Tuomas, of course, just smiles and suggests that each listener could come up with their own explanation.
Whenever you feel confused about Nightwish lyrics, remember one thing: you're probably trying to take it too literally as if it is a straightforward storytelling. Adjust your thinking to a collection of metaphorical references woven together into a larger allegory. It can take months to get an idea of how to decipher some of them. This song I still haven't completely figured out.
Elan is a song to consider that is softer as is Nemo, You should do a nightwish song a week. There's allot of diversity in their music. Elan is a great sone and totally different either the video or the live version from Buenos aries
I'm repeating what others have said, Sleeping Sun is definitely an awesome choice for a future reaction. Ideally to versions from both Tarja and Floor, as they're all breathtaking.
Not sure if applies to the context of this song, but in many songs Tuomas refers to himself as "Dead Boy". The pure and innocent young Tuomas no longer exists, therefor the pure innocent young Tuomas is dead --> Dead Boy. Sometimes he applies this same concept to adults in general --> dead children.
Always remember the sexual references are being used as metaphors. Marko and Floor are role playing in this one. Imagery of the dark and light. The Ghost River is a metaphor for the journey of life. Filled with all of the tragedy and triumph that life holds. Tuomas loves to write about lost innocence, thus the use of children's choirs. We all go down, but must fight to overcome. Another taste of Nightwish musical theater. Always keep in mind the message or story that drives the imagery and poetry of the song. I love this one simply for Floor's beautiful solo lines "Beautifully shy as you are, Never lose your heart and do come across". So many beautiful slower and softer songs to chose from! "Sleeping Sun", "The Islander", "Deep Silent Complete", or maybe "Come Cover Me"?
@@Abigirl_Reacts Those songs are upbeat, and not as "dark" as ghost river. Though ghost river as a whole isn't very dark, though I will certainly concede, some of the lyrics do present that way, at least upon first listen.
Softer? Well, Marko sings While Your Lips Are Still Red at Wembley. It’s a slow song and just so beautiful! Also Alpenglow or My Walden, very positive songs both (at Wembley, too). It’s very difficult to choose between Romanticide and Ghost River. It depends so much on your mood. Maybe I listen to Romanticide a bit more.
Hi Abbi your right this is a very very dark song not really what you expect from nightwish. Not sure if you liked this very much me i love it.Right Abbi you want something calmer you i am pretty sure you will like is Sleeping Sun beautiful song The guitarist is Emppu Vuorinen Drummer was Jukka Nevalainen back then. And loved your reaction Abbi as always❤
Next Nightwish suggestion: (If you want slow song) Setting Sun with Floor on vocals. OR I recommend " STORM" from Floor's solo album. Very positive song, with a poppy feel, as Floor's solo album was very much in the pop genre.
It's a metaphor for not choosing the easy path in life. Floor's lyrics represents the hope and courage in life, and Marco's represents the pitfalls. I understand your reaction though, and you will find that most of their songs won't seem this dark. Can't wait for the next one!
Also have you read the real Grimm Fairy Tales for kids ? Not the Disney sanitized versions but the unreal. Preternatural dark evil versions that make most of todays horror flicks look tame ? Lol 😂🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘thats what metals about
Nice Reaction! If you want a softer song from Nightwish you should listen to Floor and Troy doing their song "Hows The Heart" Acoustic. They went to Planet Rock Studio and recorded it and listening to Floors voice with Troys guitar playing is incredible!
In the album version Annette, who has a more poppy style of voice, sings the part Floor growls with a falsetto. We Live As We Dream/Scream. Slow Love Slow is a jazzy sounding song (maybe my favorite song sung by Annette) this is it live at Montreux Jazz Festival, with Annette: ua-cam.com/video/6k1jeJBocb8/v-deo.htmlsi=is1neqqH5vo3Ug2U There is also a video of it cut from the movie Imaginarium the album is the soundtrack to: ua-cam.com/video/BF1Wc-yP9nU/v-deo.htmlsi=Ast7CXO_wpSEcKaI Floor has also done it as part of her Solo Shows after Beste Zangers put her at the into the minds of far more of her fellow Dutch people: ua-cam.com/video/bBG8GdyLYDk/v-deo.htmlsi=4XhYW-UEJ96nZ7Mr
Or, if you want something _completely_ different, try "Slow, Love, Slow" at the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival. It's Nightwish, but rather unusual and very slow (like the title says :-). It's with their second singer Anette, and it's one of the songs she performed really well.
Your comment about " are children singing in the background" You'd be surprised how many children's fairytales and songs have a very dark backstory/meaning. London Bridges, 3 Blind Mice, Rock A bye Baby, jack & Jill, etc.
Girl, it's a Horror Movie type of a song, like what do you imagine a GHOST River would be, surely a River full of Ghosts or The River is the Ghost feeding out of innocent children souls - Horror Theme, right 😁Marko plays the role of the evil and demon of the River - hence the dark words.. Floor plays the role of good side, the angel or the essence of good..
Different vibes? I suggest Sahara live at Tampa (oriental vibes) or a really soft one While your lips are still red at Wembley ( lovely) Amaranth live at Wacken (poppy fun) I want my tears back live at Buenos Aires ( folky dacing gig) or Shoemaker live at Hellfest ( on their YT channel whole concert) The last ride of the day (live official) The perfect ending of a show with positiv vibes!
Always good to see Nightwish but still mystified that you have not checked out Epica, most people who like one like the other???? The recent Live performance of ‘Arcana’ dropped on YT would be a good introduction or if you cannot get enough of Floor you could do worse than check out Epica live ft Floor Jansen with ‘Sancta Terra’ from their retrospect concert. Two Symphonic Metal goddesses in a single song with a live orchestra and choir.
I like Ghost River more, it´s just a more mature look at life. Romanticide is from the album Once, which was the last album with Tarja, Ghost River is from Imaginaerum which was the second album with Anette and I think Tuomas was at a point in his life, where he started reflecting and thinking about getting older. A good example would be I Want my Tears Back. For the dark lyrics I found it helpful that I´m not a native english speaker. Therefore I´m able to see the voice as just another instrument, while if it would be in German, I would picking up some of the lyrics automatically.
For more Marko/Floor vocals playing off each other, try Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aries 2018. It's a classic. Meanwhile, from this Wacken concert, if you haven't done it already, Song Of Myself should be next.
If you like Marko and Floor singing a more sweeter song try While your lips are still red. Now there is their video version of the song which i also advise to watch but that was made back when Anette was in the band. So maybe a double shot would be better since you get a different feel for the original verse the live which has Floor. Or is this request getting a bit greedy?.
Hey gorgeous, surprise! I'm finally commenting on a reaction that is NOT The Warning. I've listened to Nightwish for a number of years and have heard this song a hundred times, but I've missed you and wanted to see you with that super cute hairstyle. Hope you're doing great. Oh, and you wanted something softer. Listen to Sleeping Sun. That's VERY soft the entire way through, and quite beautiful (like yourself). 🙂🙂🙂
Regarding the lyrics, Nightwish often has very deep lyrics, and they are being written by a person who's first language is Finnish, not English. There are two songs written by Tuomas that use the word " gR*pe" in them; and they have a distinct affect. I think for Tuomas he uses the word to describe mental defilement and mental anguish sometimes. which is of course totally different than how any english first speaking female will hear the word. So sometimes we have to not take the word quite so literal when it is used in a song, even though that goes against our instinct.
If you would like a little softer side of Nightwish, Élan, is a song that always makes me happy hearing. And of course "The greatest show on earth" (prefer the Tampere version) but I do recommend that you save that for a while and do some other songs first since that one really lives up to it´s title and is the absolute Magnum Opus of Tuomas.
It looks like you haven’t done Ghost Love Score yet according to your playlist? This is a must watch from this same concert. Not ‘guitar heavy’ and Floor is outstanding!
My opinion music should move you this is absolutely my favorite beck and call song Marco taking the deep dark backing to Floor's hopeful lead is special
You like the back and forth then the song "Devil in the Deep Dark Ocean" live in Buenos Aries 2018 is the one for you. In the Devil in the Deep Dark Ocean this one Marco is the Devil trying to have his way with Floor The Mermaid but she's having none of it
Ghost River everyday twice a day and if you want something softer with Floor at her best how's the heart acoustic from Planet Rock it's her and Troy and a acoustic guitar what's not to love
Not sure but it reminded me of the Swedish water spirit Näcken.... ps. I heard at least 2 other songs in there (not Nightwish songs)..... not sure if I should say it was an influence of theft and how to feel about it.
Nightwish is an European band, there is no censorship when they have a dark story to tell, and there ARE very dark songs. I know about 3 different meanings for this song, which is genius storytelling. I choose Romanticide over Ghost River for variety reasons, too much repetition for Marko's parts, similar to Bless the Child where poor Floor has to yawn throughout. Elan music video with Floor or Meadows of Heaven lyric video with Anette could be nice palate cleanser after this.
A small tip for NW songs. Never try to read the lyrics literally. The lyrics are almost always metaphores for a hidden meaning. And part of the fun in hearing NW songs for the first time is trying to figure out what the message is. I'm sure others have already explained the metaphores & the message in the comments here.
Softer song? Maybe you should really try "Sleeping Sun". This song is 25 years old, and there are various versions. I personally prefer the original 1999 music video version with Tarja, there's also a slightly different 2005 music video also with Tarja, and there's a 2005 live version with Tarja (from the "End of an Era" concert). There are various live versions with Floor, the most popular one probably being from the 2015 "Masters of Rock" festival. Take your pick :-)

That seems to be the consensus!
If you want more back and forth - Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean
I would say DDDO takes it to another level. Cheers!
@@brewswillis9783 Agreed, plus she's going to love Floor's outfit in that concert

Yes, I love this song! Floor's near acapella vocals in the last 3rd of the song gets me everytime. So haunting yet comforting!
Right?!
Tuomas was quoted to say GR was "a duel between the Devil and Mother Gaia.".
Interesting take!
You can say you are not understanding the song well without worries. Some of their songs do require some reading. I did wonder some time ago as well. It seemed as if there's two entities singing to the child. But I saw a post that explained it well and I hope it helps:

I'm repeating what others have said, Sleeping Sun is definitely an awesome choice for a future reaction. Ideally to versions from both Tarja and Floor, as they're all breathtaking.
This one is highly requested!
The poor children!
I'm glad I misunderstood!
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘and Abi again well done
Thanks again!
It is sort of good and evil thing. Marco is the dark side of life where as Floor is the light.🤘🎸
I see that now!
Hi Abi, greetings from UK
That was another great, honest reaction. Thank you x 😊
Thank you too!
Thx abi...please listen Cadaveria-the dream,Orphan Hate-circus and Nightwish-devil and deep dark....big hug
Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
A song would love is "I want may tears back" from Buenos Aires, the crowd participation is amazing "last ride of the day"
Added, thanks a bunch! ^_^
Yaaaaay thank you for choosing!
I'll check it out! Thank you!
Very good reaction. Tuomas's lyrics are sometimes dark and difficult to understand correctly but the message is usually positive.
Thanks for the info!
Next Nightwish suggestion: (If you want slow song) Setting Sun with Floor on vocals. OR I recommend " STORM" from Floor's solo album. Very positive song, with a poppy feel, as Floor's solo album was very much in the pop genre.
Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
When I die, I am taking a DVD of this concert with me.
Good choice lol
A good change of pace from this one would be My Walden, lIve at Tampere. A feel good vibe that will be a good Ghost River cleanse....lol.
Might be needed at this point haha thanks!
It's a metaphor for not choosing the easy path in life. Floor's lyrics represents the hope and courage in life, and Marco's represents the pitfalls. I understand your reaction though, and you will find that most of their songs won't seem this dark. Can't wait for the next one!
Oh thank goodness I misunderstood LOL
If you're staying at this concert it's worth listening to Song of Myself for some interesting changes.
Added, thanks a bunch! ^_^
Also have you read the real Grimm Fairy Tales for kids ?
Not the Disney sanitized versions but the unreal. Preternatural dark evil versions that make most of todays horror flicks look tame ? Lol 😂🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘thats what metals about
Oh my, I haven't!
Nice Reaction! If you want a softer song from Nightwish you should listen to Floor and Troy doing their song "Hows The Heart" Acoustic. They went to Planet Rock Studio and recorded it and listening to Floors voice with Troys guitar playing is incredible!
I'll check it out!
❤🤘NIGHTWISH. WAS, IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE - NIGHTWISH🤘❤
That is an accurate statement ^_^
In the album version Annette, who has a more poppy style of voice, sings the part Floor growls with a falsetto. We Live As We Dream/Scream.
Slow Love Slow is a jazzy sounding song (maybe my favorite song sung by Annette) this is it live at Montreux Jazz Festival, with Annette: ua-cam.com/video/6k1jeJBocb8/v-deo.htmlsi=is1neqqH5vo3Ug2U
There is also a video of it cut from the movie Imaginarium the album is the soundtrack to: ua-cam.com/video/BF1Wc-yP9nU/v-deo.htmlsi=Ast7CXO_wpSEcKaI
Floor has also done it as part of her Solo Shows after Beste Zangers put her at the into the minds of far more of her fellow Dutch people: ua-cam.com/video/bBG8GdyLYDk/v-deo.htmlsi=4XhYW-UEJ96nZ7Mr
Or, if you want something _completely_ different, try "Slow, Love, Slow" at the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival. It's Nightwish, but rather unusual and very slow (like the title says :-). It's with their second singer Anette, and it's one of the songs she performed really well.
Tysm, added!
Softer songs I recommend are, Sleeping Sun, Dead Boy's Poem, How's the Heart.
Noted, ty!
Told you it's a darker song, and hey, you have Falling in Reverse on the background.. :D
Falling in reverse is my absolute favorite!
Something slow... 🤔 "Sleeping Sun", or "Walking in the Air", a Nightwish version of the song written for the animate film "the Snowman".
Added, thanks a bunch! ^_^
Your comment about " are children singing in the background" You'd be surprised how many children's fairytales and songs have a very dark backstory/meaning. London Bridges, 3 Blind Mice, Rock A bye Baby, jack & Jill, etc.
The poor children!
Very fitting roles!
Different vibes?
I suggest Sahara live at Tampa (oriental vibes) or a really soft one
While your lips are still red at Wembley ( lovely)
Amaranth live at Wacken (poppy fun)
I want my tears back live at Buenos Aires ( folky dacing gig) or
Shoemaker live at Hellfest ( on their YT channel whole concert)
The last ride of the day (live official) The perfect ending of a show with positiv vibes!
Thanks for the suggestions! ^_^
Good one. People say you'll like this or that lol I'll be surprised if you find something you don't like from Wacken or Nightwish in general.
Me too honestly
Ghost River
Yes
If you like more back and forth: Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (Live at Buenos Aires 2018).
Thanks!
No darker than a lot of nursery rhymes. That's basically what this song is.
Basically
Always good to see Nightwish but still mystified that you have not checked out Epica, most people who like one like the other???? The recent Live performance of ‘Arcana’ dropped on YT would be a good introduction or if you cannot get enough of Floor you could do worse than check out Epica live ft Floor Jansen with ‘Sancta Terra’ from their retrospect concert. Two Symphonic Metal goddesses in a single song with a live orchestra and choir.
Definitely gotta check out Epica
Sounds awesome, thanks!
Hi there,Romantecide is also about suïcide and romance, ghost river is my fav❤
Oh gosh I didn't get that at all with Romanticide!
@ the title says it all🙃romance-suïcide….romanticide
I get it now of course haha
@ hi,i didnt mean this in a bad way,youre a smart woman✅🙃
I like Ghost River more, it´s just a more mature look at life. Romanticide is from the album Once, which was the last album with Tarja, Ghost River is from Imaginaerum which was the second album with Anette and I think Tuomas was at a point in his life, where he started reflecting and thinking about getting older. A good example would be I Want my Tears Back. For the dark lyrics I found it helpful that I´m not a native english speaker. Therefore I´m able to see the voice as just another instrument, while if it would be in German, I would picking up some of the lyrics automatically.
Thanks for answering my question!
For more Marko/Floor vocals playing off each other, try Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aries 2018. It's a classic. Meanwhile, from this Wacken concert, if you haven't done it already, Song Of Myself should be next.
Added, thanks a bunch! ^_^
You can suggest anything, I'll check it out! Thanks
@Abigirl_Reacts Thank you
Hey gorgeous, surprise!
Thanks Joshua, sleeping sun seems to be the popular choice!
@Abigirl_Reacts My pleasure. It really is a hauntingly beautiful song, as lovely as you are.
I'm glad I misunderstood haha
Nightwish can't be bad.
Nope!
Magnum opus
It looks like you haven’t done Ghost Love Score yet according to your playlist? This is a must watch from this same concert. Not ‘guitar heavy’ and Floor is outstanding!
Like pretty much every reactor it's the first Nightwish song she did🫡
Ghost Love Score was the first reaction it’s just not in the playlist.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll add it!
Sleeping sun is a beautiful balled❤
Is it sleeping or setting sun?
@@Abigirl_Reacts Sleeping sun
My opinion music should move you this is absolutely my favorite beck and call song Marco taking the deep dark backing to Floor's hopeful lead is special
In addition to what others have explained well, you probably need to know that Tuomas poetically views himself as a child that died.
That's interesting
Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean or 7 Days to the Wolves next both have a good harmony and a back and forth between Marco and Floor
Got it, noted! Tysm
You like the back and forth then the song "Devil in the Deep Dark Ocean" live in Buenos Aries 2018 is the one for you. In the Devil in the Deep Dark Ocean this one Marco is the Devil trying to have his way with Floor The Mermaid but she's having none of it
Interesting! Noted, ty
" Music " or " Hows the Heart - both versions
Added, thanks a bunch! ^_^
Ghost River everyday twice a day and if you want something softer with Floor at her best how's the heart acoustic from Planet Rock it's her and Troy and a acoustic guitar what's not to love
Sounds amazing 👏
Three other softer songs are Sleeping Sun, Dead Boys poem and while your lips are still red that last one being Marco
You need to react to Nightwish new best song on their new ablum. An Ocean Of Strange Islands. Its perfect.
Link please?

Thanks
Thanks for watching ^_^
Not sure but it reminded me of the Swedish water spirit Näcken.... ps. I heard at least 2 other songs in there (not Nightwish songs)..... not sure if I should say it was an influence of theft and how to feel about it.
Its always OK to express how you feel about it!
"This song is dark"
Ok.. Poet and the Pendulum next... AND DO NOT STRAY! :D
I pick Ghost River. :)
Haha YES thank you for answering 😊
If this is too dark of a theme for you, then dear child, don't check out Torture Killer xD
Haha noted!
Yay you answered me and gave reasons haha thank you so much!
if you like the back and forth check out them doing devil and the deep dark ocean
Thanks I will!
A small tip for NW songs. Never try to read the lyrics literally. The lyrics are almost always metaphores for a hidden meaning. And part of the fun in hearing NW songs for the first time is trying to figure out what the message is. I'm sure others have already explained the metaphores & the message in the comments here.
Yes thank goodness I misunderstood lmao
Softer song? Maybe you should really try "Sleeping Sun". This song is 25 years old, and there are various versions. I personally prefer the original 1999 music video version with Tarja, there's also a slightly different 2005 music video also with Tarja, and there's a 2005 live version with Tarja (from the "End of an Era" concert). There are various live versions with Floor, the most popular one probably being from the 2015 "Masters of Rock" festival. Take your pick :-)
This is a common consensus so far
It's just a fairytale. They were all originally dark
Indeed
My choice is Ghost River. Mostly due to Emmpu's Van Halen tribute playing.
I'd like to recommend High Hopes and Walking in the Air. Walking in the Air fills your "Softer", request.
Very beautiful
Beautifully dark!
I like both, but I favour Romanticide.
You need to watch The Greatest show on Earth…totally AMAZING!
I'm working up to that for sure!
@ you won’t be disappointed, either from Wembley or Tampere, both are amazing and both different. Love your reactions. 😁
Thanks for watching ^_^
For a slower mood try while your lips are still red featuring Marco or the magnificent sleeping sun or dead boys poem
Noted, ty!
A-ha!
😅
