Took me too long to realize rape in fields is probably rapeseed. Though the way death stands in the corner does remind me of painting also known as "the rape", so my best guess is the "rape" in this context means the forceful movement of death.
I was confused with the field of rape meaning, now I know a new word
yeah, maybe they should change it to _rapeseed_
@@SerAbiotico i think we should stop 😳
Dual meaning..lets have a clean mind

I'm LONGING for more dark and lonely game/animation. Thanks for everything you made!
Are you familiar with _Silent Hill 2?_
I live for how unsettling yet comforting this is. The art style is so grim and sharp I feel legitimately trapped inside this world. Magical…
“Fields of Rape” is such a fitting title. It really makes the short itself contrast what you’d expect. While this story can be read as depressing I think the message is more acceptance. The fields of rapeseed is the after life. The man has accepted death long ago and realized nothing in life matters because his goal is to reach the after life. He is literally wasting his life away waiting for death and is in this dark place not because he is scared of dying but because he has become impatient. The “fields of rape” are the reward where life is the painful trial. No matter what I always find myself returning to this short because of that gritty realism.
I've rewatched this so many times. The mood, sound design, and overall atmosphere is just so compelling. After so many months, I still joke with my friends about frolicking in the field of rape~
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. The feelings it invokes within me... Just so sad but also warm and beautiful.
I've rewatched this countless times, and it's one of the best things I've seen. I believe it is a statement on human longing for immortality and the afterlife.
Wtf. This film was good, but what the hell did this just tell me?
Life is lonely, short and everything dies, and youth is fleeting.
3:50 the man behind the slaughter
Finally, wholesome depressive content.
We truly need more of it.
mid way thro the vid, I found out there's eng subs, watched all, no clue what it's about
gotta watch it again

what does she represent in the film?
I originally thought at first that the ‘fields of rape’ was going to be symbolic of something else....
I stopped for a moment reading the title then I remembered Rapeseed is a thing.
God damn, the music gets me every time.
I'm going to take a crack at this because its been lingering with me for the past two nights. I don't speak German (not well, at least) but I've watched it several times.
Is it a story about the inherited traumatic baggage from one generation to another? The baggage being the burden of inheriting someone else's unfulfilled hopes & dreams, and the subsequent regret & guilt that comes with not realizing/attaining them?
The dying horse & the dying man in the mansion have absolutely got to represent the same person, the same figure. They make the exact same breathing sound by intention. Is the horse just the young man's way of disassociating through this trauma, loss & grief in his life? Is the horse just a figment, while the words coming from the horse would be the real voice of the young man's dying father?
So after this fantastical, unattainable burden is placed upon him, the young man goes through his life with this idea in his head that he inherited...this idea of a paradise, a perfection, a utopia that is represented by the Rapesfeld. But he feels endlessly guilty & depressed because he, like his father, was unable to attain or reach this paradise rapesfeld. But as we learn towards the end, with the narrator in the field, this paradise never existed at all. It was a burden that was needlessly carried by the protagonist because it was thrown upon a child who didn't know any better.
What I'm not sure about is if the Rapesfeld is in someway connected to death, maybe that, since it's not real, the only way one can experience it is as their paradise after death, and perhaps the protagonist does indeed pass at the end when he experiences it. If anyone wants to chat about this, I'm in
Makes some sense, it's a good interpretation. It doesn't really explain the old man with the glowing blue eyes or when the kid threw the rock at the girl. I watched it and I thought for sure that the Fields of Rape were meant to represent Death or Heaven
If you know the meaning of this video, do you know why the woman hit the little girl with a rock?
@@zweedielittlemissgreedy7932 I'm for sure not saying I *know* the meaning of it, I'm just taking a swing. It's a theory. A FILMBILDER THEORY. That wasn't a woman who threw the rock at the little girl, it was a little boy. I think it's accepted that it's specifically the older protagonist (with the big nose) when he was young.
there are subtitles
@@TheRandomPlayer Yeah, I watched it with subtitles. Being able to read the dialogue only marginally helps uncover the deeper story being told here, though. Not only are there a myriad of different language nuances between German & English, but they are also using many other storytelling devices here. Language is only 1
Regular German bedstory😂

This is amazing! Such a great job at sound, animation and character design. And the story is really cool, too.

The sound hurts my soul
I am a huge fan of you. My birthday is on 4th December! I am very excited about it as after 4 long years all of our family is finally going to be together in one day, after soo many family wars and problems. I just can't wait!!!
Magnificent. But I don't understand. Can someone explain the plot? or do we need more episodes to understand?
._.
I'm not one to help out with plots, but here's a couple of tips:
1. This video has English captions, turn them on if you haven't already.
2. Rape may not actually mean the familiar term we're used to (unconsensual sex), so try to think of a connotation.
3. Think of the similarities between the real life and the old man's story. The way the little girl rubs the dying horse the same way the old man rubs the main character, the similar facial expressions, etc.
@@cuddleslikespie i think that is a boy
@@cuddleslikespie I had already turned on the captions, and I know that "rape" here probably refers only to the plant called rape. But I had not noticed the similarity between the rubs.
I still wonder if there's sexual rape in this story though, because it is such an explicit word to put on a title like that.
@@hmmm-rr7hv well this is in German and in German there is no similarity between the word for the plan rape and the word for the other rape.
Грустно
Impressed...that I watched a clip with this title.
Now, I'm going to share this with the people in my life who demand trigger warnings. ⚠️
This is amazing, I want to translate it into Russian.
