I think this is about the little child finding joy in a simple leaf. They look at the world through the expression of the leaf, with youthfulness and optimism. The little circle of life seems beautiful to them because the fish that was killed helped to feed the bird's babies. However, the adult, who showed the child the scars life had given him, instilled in the child a sense of fear. That life can be cruel and angry, and death can be painful and senseless.
However, by the end, he comes to the conclusion that one animal is no different in value than another. We are all connected and united as one. All the joy we share and all the pain are part of the same perfect cycle we're all joined in.

My perception of this was:
-Child witnesses nature's beauty
-Child discovers ferocity of nature
-Child becomes enlightened to the oneness of nature
I watched this sober; and came up with the same ideas. The girl in her naivety see the bright sides of life. After seeing the scars of her father, she realizes there is a dark side she wasn't seeing.
In the end, though, I though she realized that with all death comes LIFE. To me, it seemed like she was realizing even things that cause death, also cause life and come from life.
The bubbles, to me, were mitosis. The animal at the end, which I'm surprised you guys didn't pick up on, was a heart-beat. The common denominator between us all, is we have a heart beat.
Well yes. I felt it had more to do with how the simplicity of a leaf could be perceived by a child's blissful ignorance to resemble a plethora of wondrous, ambient beings or the bright sides of life like you say where as her father, who has obviously endured more, is perpetually haunted by life's darker, shadier counterpart.
The end however, hit me as even though both insights as completely inverse as they are, are all connected. We are all a part of a larger organism.
We are all the children of this creature: Mother Earth

I love how much emotion is put into these, yet left so up for interpretation as so we build and relate it to our own personal experiences, thus bringing us closer to this magical piece of art
Made me think of the Infinite. That there are entire worlds at a microcosmic level and that we are within one such microcosm amidst an infinitude of macrocosms larger than this universe.

At first I thought of making a cynical comment about drugs, but this turns out to be a very creative and thoughtful piece of art. Bravo!
frenchyraptor I would tend to say most of the videos on Filmbilder are making quite the opposite of a cynical statement when it comes to drugs.

I think it's fucking disrespectful to say art was made only out of drugs, people tend to forget hard work, ambition, and creativity exist.
This is one of the most creatively fluid yet geometrically interesting animations out there

Watched it while high. Here are my thoughts... while high:
-Its starts off showing the girl discovering nature/life, and her thinking it is all sunshine, lollypops and rainbows
-The girl then discovers the violent side of natur/the evil parts of life that seems to corrupt her elders
-Soon the girl will gain wisdom about the conceptualization of reality and consciousness.
I apologize in advance for these highdeas.
I thought the same thing about the two sides of a leaf thing. I also thought that the girl realized that everything is one, by it showing the different animals going into the next bubble thing and becoming another animal, then it shows the girl, and her dad, and all the other animals on the one creature, and I think that creature symbolizes life or something. I didn't really understand the part where it shows her dad's back torn open and stuff. Maybe that was her seeing her dad dying, and then after she see's that, she realizes that there is a dark side to things and everything isn't happy and good, because that is when she looks at the other side of the leaf, and see's the bad things. You don't need to apologize, highdeas are awesome.

Whenever I see a leaf now, this animation plays through my head in an endless loop.
In nature wether it's good or bad we are all connect in one incredible Eco system.

I think the brown running beast represents Time: a thing that never stops and keeps going on, oblivious of what it takes on its ride. And the metaphor of generations of creatures spreading on his fur is majestic. In my top five of animated shorts.
Forget the theories, the main point is the continuous and perpetual flow and overlapping constant unrestricted change which is life, enjoy it while it lasts before the leaves start to fall

I think this is about finding the joys in life, and overcoming the small obstacles and facing them with determination and perseverance. This is while knowing that you as a human get ever smaller as the universe expands and accepting it.

Good demonstration of how important the music is in any movie. Both sides are gorgeous metamorphosis-type animations, but one has cute music and the other has scary music. Big difference.

I'd like to say that I think the little kid is finding solace in nature, in the way it compares to humans and our problems and quirks and illnesses.

We're all just stories, floating along. Cascading down each other's paths, bumping our way around. The animal at the end is our world, we are its stories; live your story
I like everything about this, the shapes, the colors, the creatures, it just makes me happy I9_9)
The father was probably showing her battle scars of some kind, though it could have been cancer, a deformity, or any number of things. But he was teaching her to look at both sides of something before you judge it, the beautiful and the ugly, the good and the bad, etc., signaling her to look at the other side of the leaf.

A true analysis!
First: it came with a girl who didn't know what's her reglion is. Her father give her a leaf to show her a true meaning of religions. It fulled with Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Catholicism. She loved to learn new religions.
Second: Girl ask her father if there's more religions. But she realized that her father is slowly dying. She didn't know why and she look other side of the leaf. It was dark and horrifying. There's Atheism, Satanism, Theleam, Wicca, Paganism, and more creepy religions. She thinks that the devil is taking over the leaf.
Last: when she died, she noticed that there's bunch of religions and creepy religions have join together on their side. Her father began to join with her daughter too. The giant creature that all religions, even girl and her father inside of creature was Agnosticism. They all have join together inside of Agnosticism. It's your choice to pick which religion you are, just like her.
Atheism is not a religion, but okay, and I wouldn't call paganism a dark religion.

The title of this in english is (roughly translated) LifeLine. Which makes sense in a round about way.
