Rebuild it. But stock plus. Stock with a few drivers upgrades. Id put modern brakes, nice new stereo (gotta have those tunes), fix and repair any body damage, cold air intake, nice ignition system, and a good sounding exhaust, and my favorite (some Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Tires). 😊😊

I was one of 9 drivers, working for International motors when this model was imported. We delivered Subaru spares to all parts of the UK. IM was the sole UK importer for Subaru. Great cars. Unique engines.

My favorite interior cleaner is mine. It's mostly water, EDTA, some Glycol Ether DB to solubilize, a little non-ionic surfactant, and new car fragrance. I'm a chemist in the household, institutional, and industrial sector, and if you guys are interested in any kind of cutting edge samples for car cleaning and care, let me know! I think that it’s time that you look back on which episodes really worked. Like a list of the top 10! Which had the most likes. Which had the best “story”. Personally, I enjoyed watching you chasing chickens. The Lincoln with the “surprise” under the seat was jaw-dropping! Also, hints useful to dummies like me are always good.

EJ257 turbo = and 6 speed swap ! no need for big modifications - just brakes and check suspension ! good luck - i have a 2001 GT forester - ej207 swapped RA STI engine ! automatic - fantastic fun .
Now that's my jam. Subaru Imprezas... Fell in love with them thanks to Gran Turismo & a few decades later I still dig them. 💙

I had a 1998 WRX in Australia back in the late 90’s. I was 23 and paid an unbelievable amount in insurance each year. I loved that car. Every Saturday morning it was washed and then driven with passion on roads outside of the city. In the 6 years of owning it, I think I only exceeded the speed limit on suburban roads twice. I saved that for the twisty stuff away from people.

Favorite interior cleaner. Dish soap, warm water, microfiber towel. 95% of expensive chemical cleaners are unnecessary.
For acid rain small scratches are use 3M product 5990 imperial hand glaze does a very good job moving swirls small scratches and contains no silicone

Subaru is notorious for rusting rear quarter panels. Every one I've owned, they began rusted.
As someone who lives in a salty state. I wouldn't bother restoring it.

Rust on the fenders gives him a perfect reason to get some 22b style over fenders.
bolt on flares, i can already seee this being an ig inspired build. instead of increasing value and restoring it, decreasing the value for social media attention. only 200 made lets ruin it, makes sense.

You ever thought not everyone wants to completely restore a vehicle too increase value?? The car is a rust bucket and he already wants to swap the engine. Perfect platform to build the car the way HE wants. You wanna cry in some UA-cam comments then buy your own rs and restore it. Then sit there and look at your boring Subaru by all means 👍

Not exactly an interior cleaner, rather an interior preservative, one of my very favorite products is Connolly Hide Food/Hide Care, but I also use their cleaner as well. Connolly Hide Food/Hide Care has kept the leather interiors in my 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible and 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham Luxury Sedan looking like new -- soft and supple just like they were when the cars were delivered by new by the dealer. I will never forget taking deliver of the Oldsmobile on Aprile 21, 1985 then driving by to show it to some family -- they thought my mother and I had been terribly extravagant as we ordered the car with every available factory option except the sun roof, and diesel V8. Several were shocked that we would consider spending nearly $2,000.00 to upgrade to the premium leather interior -- it evidently was not a popular option due to cost and a single color offered -- a medium blue=gray.

Combining the detail with a will it start is taking it to another level. You should try to do that with every find.
If I take the car out for a day, get it back it’s got pollen and dust on it. Maybe a few bugs splats are use Maguires quick detailer. You can use it on all painted chrome and glass. It does a good job. It also helps retain the wax enhances the wax.
Subie Savers makes an awesome patch panel for GC/GD/GM cars.

Favorite interior cleaner ... combo of Dawn and Murphy's Oil Soap. 50/50 vinegar and water for the windows.

The first car a bought from a dealer was a 1998 2.5RS WRB 5 speed with the rally decal package. Great car super fun and would go anywhere.

man this car is awesome! i love how the black paint popped up after the detail, and how the interior shined again after all that junk lol. i would not give up on her, sure there's a lot of work but it seems the owner has a good plan already. good luck :)
That transformation on the carpets is mind boggling that’s wild.
Thing is rotten, needs inner and outer quarters, probably rotting underneath too, whole sheel is probably scrap
I use the foam spray glass cleaner on the seats for my 2014 Ford Focus because of the weird fiber material the seats are made out of otherwise they stain even with cleaners and soap and water the glass cleaner is the only one that dries clear
Guys one question, i noticed you're using a yellow drill brush, is that the super harsh one. Because i have many and the white one is the soft one, special for seats, couches, and leather. I used the yellow one once and damaged the seats. Thank you guys for posting amazing content, you are the only car detailers i watch only bc of your guys characters and one of a kind content.🙌😄
Yellow is a medium brush, green is stiffer and black is the hardest!

I have been trying out a few different cleaners now. Chemical guys, or Simple green diluted works well. I'm probably gonna try the detail geeks products or Adam's cleaner.
When you first tried to start it, it sounded like Sponge Bob's boat....lol.
Check out Bucky Lasek build. He started with something similar or worse.

You can clearly see Joe was starstruck, this video was extra wholesome.
It would help if you gave the mileage as that makes a massive difference to value (going by the wear on the gear knob this is high mileage) but as it's one of less than 200 Joe should rebuild it as stock. >200 examples should make it more valuable stock than modified.
Great seeing a car with cloth seats; they really are worth seeing clean and as for the paintwork - 10/10 for the improvement!
Hey Now! I cleaned my windows only today, all of them.....I have to be able to see, I hate dirty windows.........some of us like this channel because we like washing even our own cars.
On the rust issues.
Ive seen cars come back from just a chassis and firewall. Rebodying a car is pricey of course. However patching areas like this is entirely doable. $$$? Sure. It will cost. Worth it? How much does he like it? How much would he willingly invest in it?
Also, the inherent value is the rarity of the 200 shipped with this particular paint code. Remove the paint, it becomes just another Subie with a manual. Still not a super common car, but the paint is what keeps it supremely rare. That should be taken into consideration.
I constantly clean the whole families’ cars and I love using meguiars cleaners

I give y car interior a full clean everytime my car gets washed which is about once every month

I clean my Type R on the daily….I use chemical guys interior cleaner for my interior and fantikk vacuum to keep it clean on the interior, along with Costco foam glass cleaner for the windows
i would do the rear quarters then do a repaint of the whole thing factory color would make it pop plus trying to blend that area into the old paint wont look that good

Special car for sure. I love the badging too, just looks fast or something. FIX IT!!! Agree 100%, wide body modification would be perfect. Needs work on the doors too I noticed. Missing body trim parts? (just started watching this episode so maybe not). The rodents have done a number on it, likely weaked floor pans too. Love the channel!!!

No, I do clean my windows quite regularly. I use spray away window cleaner, the best window to clean in the world so they state
All of my cars have leather interior and I use Maguires leather care. I use Maguires cleaners requires waxes. I’ve had good luck at Maguires.

Funny the hood spot at first your 15" away fast sweeping and then you spray that cleaner on there then come back to about 5" away and slow sweep. 😂
What an amazing transformation looks incredible now and in “my” opinion I say keep Joe as far away from this sweet ride as possible. He’ll just do as before, shove it in a corner and continue letting it rot.
