Thanks for doing this. I requested you guys do this one. Grew up loving these when my family owned a Mitsubishi dealership. Thanks for coming through 👍🏽
Friend of mine shared me the video because I have one! You guys are right, no one sees these things anymore and always flock to it when I bring it to cars and coffee. So many stories of people having one or knowing someone who did, it's sad there's not more of them on the road.
This is definitely a Conquest, The badging for the Starion is missing, plus a Starion would not have a plate in it saying " built for Chrysler ! I should know, I worked for Mitsubishi in Berlin. Love your work guys, keep it up.
Yeah definitely a Conquest due to the badging, but this has a ton of bits and bobs from both models, as well as from the entire model history of the car. Hood is from an '83 (they removed the vented hood afterwards, for whatever reason), rear hatch glass is from a Starion (turbo decal was only installed on them), steering wheel is from an 88/89, SHP wheels (1" wider all around vs a stock 87), rare factory molded mudflaps, those AUS/JDM starion taillights (US didn't have dedicated amber turn signals, the whole rear light doubles as the flasher ln US cars), vents behind the doors aren't the typical ones for an '87 (I think they're off a flatty?) as the stock ones protrude more, and those side marker turn signals on the front fender. It's a shame the stock radio and surround trim is gone, the OEM radio is killer with a full analog graphic equalizer. The surround trim probably shattered when removing it at some point in its life, all the plastic in these things are like glass. Either way, this car was definitely loved by the owner in it's lifetime with the sheer amount of customization and choice of upgrades under the hood. Glad to see it polished back up to be enjoyed!
This is a mix and match of parts so no telling what it is without a vin. Although I don't know how you can visually tell shp wheels versus non shp wheels. Maybe from poke but also you could just have a half inch spacer.
Randy's been the man for parts and advice on the SQ boards for as long as I can remember. I remember when this car "came up" as it was being built, but not the specifics of it. Hard to tell the exact year of it (unless I missed it in the video). It's got 86-87 seats, an 88-89 steering wheel, and a one-year-only 83 hood. One thing's for sure though..."Dad" built it right back then, and will surely resurrect it properly. Can't wait to see it.
I'm 41. There's something cool about being in the older generation and seeing the next generation discover these cars for the first time. Lol I've always liked conquest/starions. I almost bought one a few years back. Super clean, 1 owner car that a neighbor had since new. Shortly after he finally agreed to sell it to me, it got totaled by some kids in a stolen car. Lol
its kinda of funny. the other day i saw a video called something like 'the forgotten pontiac no one knows about' and it was just Bonneville SSEi. Son, we have not forgotten lol. I think THEY think no one over 25 watches youtube.
I loved these cars. As an 80s baby and a Mitsubishi car fan, It always excited me to see the Starion/Conquest TSI rolling on the streets. Great video, and great detail as always. Keep it coming!
This is hands down one of the more well preserved Conquests I have ever seen. Even from seeing one’s back in the ‘90s. The interiors always seemed to wear out so quickly. So awesome to see you guys bring this not so well known icon to life! 😎
I recall seeing a widebody version of this when I was a teenager in the 80s. It must have been the only one in my small town and - to me - it might as well have been a Lamborghini. I had no idea what it was, but it always caught my eye and made me drool over it. I still love the shape of the body and the wheels. Thanks for sharing this video!
I've had several Conquests. Currently have an 87 Conquest, Shetland beige in need of restoration. This Conquest has many "unicorn" parts on it! Its got a 1983 hood with scoops, rare Australian tail lights, "Turbo" badged hatch glass and Japanese sidemarkers on fenders! This inspires me to get working on mine!
I stumbled onto the detailing world by accident, i do enjoy watching the power washing. i started with Detail Geek, then Ammo NYC, and then you guys... you guys may have been 3rd to my exposure but WD became number 1. i love how authentic and genuine you guys are... (guys, do more motorcycles....lol)
Love this- I had a 1986 Silver Starion and my brother had a 1987 Black Starion identical to your detail. They were like a less expensive version of a Porsche 944 but looked somewhat similar. Super cool at the time ( I was 18) and now 56- love this and all your videos.
Definitely this is a Conquest TSI! The first car I ever bought on my own was a ‘88 Conquest TSI SHP in Electric Blue! Loved that car!!! Served me well while I was in the USAF. Very peppy car and so much fun to drive. The throttle body was the Achilles heel. Thanks for this video and trip down memory lane. 💙
Dear wyd detailing, I want to say that yall are doing an amazing jobs on these cars, such a crazy difference on before and after, yall have helped me me so much and have inspired me to start my own home detailing business, anytime I need help, I go and look at yalls videos and definitely going to buy mech and definitely going to get all the same products y’all use, but also yall are my favorite UA-camrs!!
You guys are the best!! I look forward to every new video and can’t wait to see what I’ll learn about some cars I’ve never even heard of! You’ve inspired my buddy and I to do our own details on the side! It’s so fun and satisfying to do!
Yes! Yes! Yes! I have been waiting for this video! The Starion was so 80’s futuristic… with its crazy “digital” dash and angular lines. The Starion and Conquest were the muscle cars trying to serve synth wave Tron fantasy… I wouldn’t be surprised if Hyundai is using this car as inspiration for some of their retro futuristic show car styling, and as a middle aged Gen Xer I think the Starion has held up.
I’m 59 yrs old…when I worked at a grocery store in the mid 1980’s, the store manager had just bought a Starion…tossed me the keys to drive to another store to pickup more bread. Was an awesome experience. Thanks for the content and especially the chicken portion was hilarious.
Hey Guys, I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel. I have actually been watching for a couple of years. I was a detailer in my early 20's and then mid 30's. I sincerely enjoyed making a car look good. I worked fir used Car dealers and as a New Car detailer. The last time I worked in the industry was in the mid to late 90's. I suffer now from a bad back. I have had to get on a Disability Support Pension here in Australia. I have detailed a Starion back in the day. They were raced here in our touring car series of the day. They were very quick. We had Mitsubishi and Chrysler. Mitsubishi took over from Chrysler in the 80's. Mitsubishi then came back when Chrysler left. Ofcourse now Chrysler has returned also. I sincerely enjoy watching and even now learning new tricks. I used to hand cut and polished cars as buffs if used incorrectly would cut through the paint. A lot of Car yards wouldn't risk them. Thanks fir what you so. I have seen almost every episode. I will slowly go back and check to see if i have missed "likes" for you guys. If I have I will make sure I do. Take care. P.S. RJ, I sincerely hope you give up you bad habit. If it i smoking, My Mum and Dad both had Emphysema and Dad died becasue of it. I urge you to keep going on quitting. You seem to be a great young man. As do all of you.
Almost bought a Starion in 1988. It was the first time I'd seen one and fell in love with it. It was metallic petrol blue with colour matched corduroy interior. Priced at £8700. For some stupid reason I bought an XR2 instead
MY FIRST TIME SEEING THIS CAR, I WAS BUSY BEING A RETAIL ENTREPUNER BURING THE 1980'S LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, VERY REWARDING TO SEE THE GREAT TRANSFORMATION YOUY GUYS PROVIDE !! WISHING YOU ALL GREAT SUCESS!! GOD BLESS, SAM
I love your channel, love how humble you guys are and fun to watch. I used to live in Cleveland so watching takes me home knowing where you guys are. Keep up the great work. I look forward to what is next every week
As a teenager in the 80s I knew of these vehicles. My wife and I look forward to your videos and was specifically looking for this video. We were watching one of your previous videos and spotted this car in the background and the search was onKeep up the awesome videos .
I believe that's it's a Conquest. The Mitsubishi Station GS-R would have the Mitsubishi 3 Diamond logo on the front hood, rear lift back and wheels. Love this Car and your channel. Keep up the good work guys!
Hello! I’m very happy to tell you I knew what the car was by the thumbnail. I don’t miss many of your videos. The European twilights on the Starion (conquest) the plate reads made by Mitsubishi for Chrysler its a Conquest I think it’s great to see young guys get involved in the older cars. Keep up what you’re doing. I don’t miss many videos unless it’s a car I don’t care much for.
Hello from central Georgia! I’ve been watching your channel a while but this is my first time commenting. I remember seeing my first Starion back in 2006. They look great in motion too 😎
As a long time owner of the Star/Quest it’s nice to see these cars finally getting the love and respect they deserve. I’ve had both a Starion ESi-R and Currently own a Conquest TSi All versions of the car rolled off the same assembly lines. There are a few differences in the U.S. versions. First, the U.S. versions of the Starion after 1985 where majority wide bodied with the most of flat body cars being made from 1983 to 1986. The Conquest was available from Mitsubishi for both Chrysler and Plymouth (that’s right, Plymouth, that’s not a typo) in lesser optioned packages than the Mitsubishi Starion. The Plymouth variants were also majority flat bodied and the most stripped down if I’m not mistaken. Starions had chrome diamonds with ruby red inlays on the hatch on the right rear corner just beneath the rear spoiler and the center of the header panel between the headlights in the front. Chrysler and Plymouth versions had decals in those locations with 1987 to 1989 using a full “Conquest” script across the hatch under the rear spoiler. Wide body Starions also got “Turbo” script door handles, rear hatch glass, and (in my opinion at least) a better looking steering wheel. All cars got the Belts in the U.S. Starions also had options for speed sensitive wipers the same as Chrysler, although I’m not sure about the Plymouth version. The Starion exclusively had a digital dash display option, and digital EQ option for the radio with a 3 stack layout: AM/FM on the top, Cassette in the middle, and digital graphic EQ with volume control on the bottom. In Japan, if I’m not mistaken, the majority of their cars were narrow bodied for tax reasons as well as limited to 2.0 liters in displacement for the above stated scenario. The Rest Of World (R.O.W.) versions also received different engines. Not all were turbocharged, while they are the most popular, and not all turbocharged versions sported the iconic front mounted intercooler (which I believe was a first for a production car back then to be located in the front spoiler as it was on the Star/Quest wide body cars.) The R.O.W. Starion was available with the Sirius engine platform utilizing the well known 2.0 liter 4G63-T engine, but using a single cam 8 valve configuration or the optional 12 valve configuration with 2 intake valves, and one large exhaust valve. All U.S. versions of either car received the much larger Astron engine platform utilizing a much larger 2.6 liter 4G54B-T engine with an 8 valve cylinder head. The fuel injection systems were also drastically different, and the turbochargers on the 2.6 were also smaller to promote faster turbo response and more torque lower in the power band as the U.S. cars as they weren’t expected to perform in high speed environments daily, meaning the national speed limit was a paltry 55mph in the U.S. while the R.O.W. Had much higher legal cruise speeds, or unregulated speeds all together depending on where you were. Our cars in the U.S. were aimed towards low end torque delivery and their cars were aimed at high rpm power delivery. 4G63-T powered cars were described as “peaky” with their operation being happier at higher engine revs. The Sirius engines also made about 20hp (around 208hp) which was more than the Astron engines used in the U.S. and around 205 pound-feet of torque. The Astron engines were rated at 188hp and about 235 pound-feet of torque which made them quick at low rpm engine speeds. I also believe the Sirius engines received MPi where the Astron engines received TBi, which is the Astron’s weakest link. Most of the issues the Star/Quests have a reputation for here state side regarding their reliability or drivability are directly linked to the fuel injection system being TBi in my opinion. Had the Astron been MPi like the Mitsubishi Magna, it would’ve not only made more power, than even the 4G63-T versions, but it also would’ve been far more reliable. Sorry for the novel. I’m a bit of an enthusiast when it comes to cars in particular the Starion/Conquest! Thanks for doing this awesome video Dad is awesome! And the Star/Quest Forums are a great resource for new owners and Star/Quest fans and O.G.’s alike!
I have never heard of this car. I did once own a 1991 Plymouth Laser RS. Which was a rebadged Mitsubishi Eclipse. It said under the hood that it was made for Plymouth by Mitsubishi. The Laser was a sweet car. I wish I could have kept it. The interior was beautiful. A grey velour. The center stack console curved toward the driver. It was like you were in a cockpit. And the best part was the pop-up headlights. lol.
The seatbelts are unique nice little touch. I graduated HS in ‘86 and remember the Conquest always liked the body lines but I don’t remember the Starion but I did grow up in a small town with no Mitsubishi dealer so 🤷🏻♂️. Enjoying all your videos 👍
I am a 74 year old girl from the land of the kangaroo who really enjoys watching you boys cleaning up these cars and am learning about what you have in your country as special cars. I have a Mazda MX6 that if you were here it could use your help, has not been that badly neglected just has not been living undercover for most of its life, but we still drive it and love it and my son has his eye on it although he will have to learn how to drive a manual shift car, as most of the kids here learn to drive automatic transmission cars, Keep up the great entertaining and informative videos 😊
Those were one of the coolest cars you could get back then. The rear wheel drive was starting to get phased out and lots of us were not happy about it. Great job guys and keep it up
I love this car. I owned the 1989 model Mitsubishi Starion Turbo from 1991 to 1997. It was amazing. This was my first car I purchased. Thank you. This video brought back memories.
WOW!!! I really wanted this car, brand new back in 1987!!! My name is Scott, I had just graduated high school and saw this brand new mitsubish conquest tsi, kinda a champagne ish color with burgundy leather but all on this same style, wheels same also..but,not only was it more than I could afford, the insurance on an 18 year old boy ended the dream!! I always hoped to get one but life didn't permit..thanks for the memories! Looks awesome!!
Hi guys, great program love the content. I used to be a new car salesman at Mount Clemens. Dodge in Mount Clemens, Michigan in the late 80s. Early 90s had a conquest TSI for a demo. It was an awesome car really like your videos keep them up
I’m old. So I remember when these (and the American variants) first came out. I always wanted one of these. Super cool! Great video as usual. Thank you 😊
They raced these in Bathurst, Australia premiere road race against some of the toughest Aussie race cars ever. Big respect for these cars down under👍🏻🇦🇺
This car is an 80's legend! Great job everyone! An earlier narrow body version of this car was also featured in the 1981 movie Cannonball Run II as the Japanese gadget laden technology race car.
Is that the car with the legend Jackie Chan, one of the first times he appeared in a American production, the car drove on water if I remember correctly. 😅
Taillights are not from Australia they're from the European and Asian models. Mudflaps are a rare item also. I've owned about 15 of these cars since 1997 and are very familiar with them them and all they're accessories.
Have you heard/saw anything about the rain guards? Are they actually 1 of 1 or just some other random mass produced rain guards that happen to fit the vehicle?
In the 80's the Mercury Capri (the Mercury version of the Ford Mustang obviously) had the same style of "widebody" fenders. One of the things that made it just a little bit more unique than the Mustang, in my opinion. I've never seen one of these cars, pretty cool. Awesome job, and very educational, as always. 👍
Such a gorgeous car, ask me how i know 😅 only thing that really distinguishes Starion vs Conquest is the badging and the Tail Lights. 2nd letter on the VIN denotes brand: JJ - Conquest. This one also has a 1983 hood (only year with hood vents), rare molded mud flaps (last year a guy was selling a set for $1000!). Also has the 88-89 Special Handling Package wider wheels, you can tell by the rectangle around the brand logo on the wheels. i believe 88-89 also had rear shoulder belts? That front bumper is also either off an 88/89 or an aftermarket. Dad is our guru! Hahaha great video!
specifically only the '83 model in the US. Lots of bits on this one from other cars. It's a Conquest, though. The firewall badge is all you need to know for that.
Owned one, bought a blue one in 1989..245's on back, turbo, handled very well, circulating ball, not rack and pinion. 8 way adjustable struts, great stereo..it was a sexy beast in the day.
I used to work at a dealership that had one of the Conquest taken on trade. It was bright red, black leather and a manual transmission. I freaking loved it. I wanted to buy it so bad, but I was only 17 at the time, and my mom was a firm no. My dad was all about it. But mom vetoed dad. lol.
We had the Starion here in Australia in the 80s. I think they were marketed through Chrysler. I had the Galant and Lancer and friend had the Galant GTO. Love this car.
I love these cars. I had an ‘87 Starion back in the 90’s. It looked a lot like yours, black with the deep dish wheels. It overheated once and apparently the aluminum heads were warped and I eventually sold it. It was a blast to drive, the turbo sounded like a jet engine, and of course it looked cool! I now own a black ‘87 Turbo 300ZX, similar but it doesn’t sound like a jet fighter. If I had the money I’d buy another Starion!
Nice job guys! My buddy had a Conquest in high school in 1990. Cool cars just slow. Trans Ams and 5 liter Mustangs used to eat those cars up! Nice restoration!
I had this exact same car, and I'm happy to see you guys treating this classic car with such care . Made to run with the Nissan 300zx and the Toyota Supra
I had an 89’ Conquest TSi. Identical to the Starion. I prefer this boxy shape and it looks more futuristic than the cyber truck. Great job! Looks so clean!!!😊❤
This was almost my 1st car at 16! I've always loved these things. My dad and I test drove an identical Conquest, on the test drive I got a taste of what turbo lag means on a back road corner.....it was NOT my 1st car after that. My dad was my insurance agent after all! Lol
My dad had an 88 Chrysler Conquest TSI. Same black color as this one. Loved it. It was an automatic because my mom said she wanted to be able to drive it and didn’t know how to drive a manual. She got pulled over going to church one day not realizing how fast she was going. A very peppy car indeed!
I bought my son a Black 88 TSI for his 16th birthday. Unfortunately a year later in an ice storm he had a 5 mph rollover. Totaled the car out. But I bought him a n 86 that had mechanical problems and we pieced together a running car. He kept the car and had a car reared him a few years later. Cool Insurance guy gave him enough money for repairs and a new paint job. He added the 83 hood to it and an 89 front air dam. Years later he pulled the 2.6 and installed a 2JZ Supra engine and 5-speed manual trans. A big Garret T 77 turbo. 3” custom exhaust and custom made drive shaft. He still has it today and drives it on pretty days. I also own an 88 Conquest TSI with a built 2.6 with an 18 G turbo. These are fun cars and it really rare to see them.
I’ve actually owned two Conquests. One an ‘88, the other an ‘89. Both red over black. Had a friend in high school that had an ‘87 that was Fiji Blue, coolest car I can remember from my teenage years! The car you are cleaning has a hood from an early car (prior to ‘85).
Starions were pretty popular here in UK, along with the 200SX Nissan, Supra and 944 Turbo (of which I have one). They went with the power dressing shoulder pads in suits and big hair of the late 80's and early 90's. Great show, have learned so much about detailing even though I am already a car clean freak already 👍
I forgot about these cars. Very cool looking car. It would look especially good with the right wheels and stance. I really love that has a manual transmission and rear wheel drive.
You guys are magicians!!!!! So talented!!! I really love the way you guys brought this car back to life!!!! I’d love to come out and visit with you guys and see the car in person. Let me know if we can do that.
Old School Detailing trick is to use a mini sander with a velcro grip to vibrate the carpets to shake loose dirt, while vacuuming, then chase with Tornadoor to get the rest. Car looks amazing as always
Mitsubishi worked with Chrysler since the’70’s. Cars had a emblem on the back MCA jet. We had a Dodge Colt that was a little sedan for the energy crunch on fuel. I really liked the Conquest actually wanted one but forgot about the Starion. Your Starion looks amazing after what you guys did to it. Awesome!!
I owned an '89 Conquest SHP. Super cool car and sounded amazing. I put a head, and turbo on it along with hard pipes and exhaust. It would scream with the boost turned up, but was very temperamental and never would run right. I would always get complimented on how nice my Porsche was. Don't see many intact air dams on these cars.
For any of US who were first licensed in the 80's....This is OUR GENRE!!!! SO we are on this and yes I told you in the last video I SEE MY CAR!!!!!!!!! Loved the Starion chrysler rebadged CONQUEST as well but always wanted the STARION!!!!!!!! The early Starions were smaller and can be seen in Cannon ball RUN I or II. I can not remember which one!!!
Great video! I was looking through the products you used and don't see the "Tri clean" listed in your links, nor does it come up on amazon. If you are getting something from affiliate links do you have a link to the triclean? Also would that be acceptable for a cloth interior car? My mold/mildew isn't as bad but i have been fighting it for years after my car was stored in an underground garage that was humid. I had been using a mold control spray and moisture absorber but I want to pull all the carpet out and replace it and clean all the harder surfaces. The tricky part is the cloth seats as they aren't really any replacement seat cloth I can use. Thanks!
I had this exact car, 2.6l 4 Cylinder, a bunch of torque. The seatbelt actually moves and holds driver in place. I used to sell Dodge/Ford/Chrysler so I fell in love with them in the 1980s.
i have owned a 86 conquest when i was in my 20's. Great car love the look and that they were ahead of time of other cars at the time....decent fast for the time as well. If i could find another one in clean condition i would scoop it up. Awesome to see one on here !
This was one of my favourite cars back in the day The first one I saw was on a tv show and was red I did see a couple on the roads when in the 90,s the UK saw quite a lot of Japanese imports coming across Excellent video I really love the mix of vehicles you do And the results are amazing
...another great car brought back to life, loved these back in the day, love that you have a passion for older classics, been waiting for this one since this Starrion showed up in the background of the shop...wait...what ??? ...where did that Mustang come from ?!?!? #detailthis
My friend had a red 87 5spd awd back in the early 90's. He took me for a ride in the rain. I was impressed at how good the traction was. We all had rear wheel drive muscle cars . I was not used to not fish tailing in the rain. He actually had an 86 corvette before this car. He hated driving it in the rain. These cars were popular and were good looking for the time. Cool wheels. Wider in the rear than in the front.
I owned a few of these in the late 80's early 90's and because of that i ended up taking a job at the local Mitsubishi Dealership because they didn't have anyone that wanted to work on these. the Dodge Conquest is the same exact car made by Mitsubishi but badged with the Dodge brand 2.6L Turbo, rear wheel drive and it was a blast to drive until you had to remove the cylinder head due to cracks between the valves or just wrapped heads. awesome looking car for its days and when tuned correctly could give a run for its money with the mustang GT and LX of the same era, i sure miss driving one
I just love these videos. This is a special car. Same year as the Corolla SR5 that I owned around that time. Elliott, start driving this beauty, on the weekends at least. This shouldn’t be locked up somewhere collecting dust.
My Father owned two of these in the 80's in Australia. Over there they came with the 2 litre turbo motor and one of my favourite memories was as a passenger with my Father at the helm, chasing a V8 Holden Statesman along the Barrier highway to Broken hIll at an indicated 240km/hr (150mph). Seriously fast back in the day. Another bit of funny history (or possible folk lore) was how the Starion got its name. Legend has it that when the car was slated for the American market the Japanese weren't sure what to call it so they asked their American counterparts for ideas. One of the American execs suggested naming it after a horse to compete with the Ford Mustang of the day. "How about we call it the Stallion", said the American exec to his Japanese counterpart. "Ahhhh. Good idea", replied the Japanese exec, "Starion it is". Of course the Japanese struggle with pronunciation of 'R's and 'S's', so when the cars came off the ship at the American dock everyone chuckled when they saw the 'Starion' badging.
I had a classmate in college that had a Starion. His had the digital dash with a factory radio upgrade that was amazing. I loved that car. It was “styled” after the Porsche 944 and Toyota Celica Supra. Yes, it was expensive at the time as well. Mitsubishi was an upscale Japanese brand in the 80’s that fell far and fell fast.
omg this classic has so much personality, i love it. it turned out amazing in the end, i hope that cool car could get on the road pretty soon! i really enjoyed the chiken chase, you should do more farm jobs lol.
My nextdoor neighbor had one when we were kids. It was a white Conquest and the guy barely drove it - maybe 4-5 times as long as I can remember. Awesome car!
I’ve got a 87 conquest tsi and I absolutely love these cars, I’m currently restoring mine and they’re a pain to get parts for. That’s a conquest though but really cool car none the less.
These were always pretty cool to me. I learned about them through Forza when I was like 13 and then realized someone in my old neighborhood had a beautiful red one. Id ride my bike past there and be on the lookout for it, was awesome to see
Do you know what the Starion/Conquest is?
Don’t forget to like and Subscribe!
I used to have a cousin to this car it was a Plymouth Sapporo.
My uncle paid 18k (when a Z28 cost 15) in 84, for an 85 😂
Thanks for doing this. I requested you guys do this one. Grew up loving these when my family owned a Mitsubishi dealership. Thanks for coming through 👍🏽
I need yall fellas to work on my (very original) 06 350z, if I still smoked weed, I could do it lmao 😂
You are incorrect. Conquest never had the "Turbo" inscription on the hatch. Only Starions. Unless the hatch was swapped its a Starion.
Mike was wrong!
exactly i owned at least 5 of these over the years and you're 100% correct
I got to WD the very same way and now I only watch WD detailing. They are for sure number 1.
@@markussteinmann2890 Thank you guys!
Welcome!
Dear wyd detailing, I want to say that yall are doing an amazing jobs on these cars, such a crazy difference on before and after, yall have helped me me so much and have inspired me to start my own home detailing business, anytime I need help, I go and look at yalls videos and definitely going to buy mech and definitely going to get all the same products y’all use, but also yall are my favorite UA-camrs!!
euro spec parts, 83 hood, well kept bay, bunch of rare parts scattered all over. someone really loved this car
Seeing you guys chasing the chickens was hilarious, love that beautiful little car. Looks a lot like a Supra from that era. ☺️👍
The early Hyundai vehicles used Mitsubishi engines and drivetrains.
I’m 59 yrs old…when I worked at a grocery store in the mid 1980’s, the store manager had just bought a Starion…tossed me the keys to drive to another store to pickup more bread.
Was an awesome experience.
Thanks for the content and especially the chicken portion was hilarious.
Hey Guys,
I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel.
Being a car guy all my life, I really liked these cars as a kid. They even used this car in Cannonball Run 2 movie.
The chicken part was the best, made my day.
Almost bought a Starion in 1988. It was the first time I'd seen one and fell in love with it. It was metallic petrol blue with colour matched corduroy interior. Priced at £8700. For some stupid reason I bought an XR2 instead
The Dodge Neon 2.0L 16v engine was a Mitsubishi. I had a friend in high school in the late 90's that had a yellow Conquest. Always loved the car.
Wait, what? That was a Mitsubishi? Oh my. When I Bought my Neon I had no clue of that. I thought it was Dodge. I'm very embarrassed right now.
@@CuriousMess61 just an engine from mitsubishi
Keep up the good work guys!
lmfao the chicken scene was hilarious. In Australia those Mitsubishi Starions are really rare now, i love the styling
They look great in motion too 😎
You guys are miracle workers!! And sooo much fun to watch!! Keep doing what you’re doing…it works!!
As a long time owner of the Star/Quest it’s nice to see these cars finally getting the love and respect they deserve. I’ve had both a Starion ESi-R and Currently own a Conquest TSi
All versions of the car rolled off the same assembly lines.
Not all were turbocharged, while they are the most popular, and not all turbocharged versions sported the iconic front mounted intercooler (which I believe was a first for a production car back then to be located in the front spoiler as it was on the Star/Quest wide body cars.)
The R.O.W.
@AuroraGw2 if randy says there one of one I believe it
In the 80's the Mercury Capri (the Mercury version of the Ford Mustang obviously) had the same style of "widebody" fenders.
Hood scoop is unique to the Starion. I owned a 86 TSI back in 92. Fun car and still look great to this day. Wish I still had the car.
specifically only the '83 model in the US. Lots of bits on this one from other cars. It's a Conquest, though. The firewall badge is all you need to know for that.
I know about the Conquest…back when the 80’s I was a salesman in a Dodge dealership. The Conquest is/was a sweet ride
Fun as always , you always put new jokers out of your sleeves! Love how make the story and the people behind the cars part of the videos.
Owned one, bought a blue one in 1989..245's on back, turbo, handled very well, circulating ball, not rack and pinion. 8 way adjustable struts, great stereo..it was a sexy beast in the day.
1st time I saw one (Conquest) looked like inexpensive option to a Porsche 944 Turbo S. At the dealerships goin for 14k in 1988. Beautiful!!!
I got some merch. I got myself a white “dad” cap 😎. Thanks Guys for doing a great job. I enjoy the shows!
Love ,love your channel, makes me want to detail my beetle...thank you guys for the content
I had this exact same car, and I'm happy to see you guys treating this classic car with such care . Made to run with the Nissan 300zx and the Toyota Supra
you mean 200sx ?
So happy yall finally did a video on this Bcus as a dodge stealth owner myself I love 90s mopars such as this one
My older brother had one of those back in the day. Love the car.
I saw these in the back of a couple videos and have been waiting YEAHHHH
I loved these cars back in the day. Especially the red with black interior 👍😎
Drove a Conquest back in 90/91 and man that drive stuck with me til today!
Absolute my favorite car growing up in the 80’s they are very rare to find enjoy them
I forgot about these cars.
WOW.... I watched this just to see what this car was. Never saw one before! Keep up the great vids!
I love to watch your vids...I'm a fan from Philippines...Good job in detailing with this JDM legend
Awesome!!
Great job everybody. These were fun to drive with the beefy shift handle. 245/45s were enormous tires in the late 80s
1960s mustang in the back round. Been waiting for you to do one for a while
For any of US who were first licensed in the 80's....This is OUR GENRE!!!!
This was one of my favourite cars back in the day
The first one I saw was on a tv show and was red
I did see a couple on the roads when in the 90,s the UK saw quite a lot of Japanese imports coming across
Excellent video I really love the mix of vehicles you do
And the results are amazing
Had a conquest back in the 90s,cool cars and love your channel!
...another great car brought back to life, loved these back in the day, love that you have a passion for older classics, been waiting for this one since this Starrion showed up in the background of the shop...wait...what ??? ...where did that Mustang come from ?!?!?
My favourate part is when you guys polish the cars, the transformation is instant.
Great video this week guys. The chickens were a riot lol.
Thank you! We had a lot of fun with them
I had a classmate in college that had a Starion.
Girl I went to high school had one of these in 1988. Was in bright red. Loved it.
Outstanding Job on this one guys!!!!
Cant believe you're nearly at 1 million subs. I remember when you was so excited to hit 30k subs. 👏🏼👏🏼
Black is my fav color. You guys did a bang up job
One of my best friends had a Conquest in college. His was silver. Lots of fun to drive since there was so much power for a lightweight car.
