My mom, who was an artist, had issues with a tv showing -- even in the 1960's. She always insisted it was built inside a cabinet and the doors were kept closed when not in use.
Please share tips on caring for the care of fine linens - your videos are wonderful!! I always enjoy your treasures! Thank you for sharing your beautiful gifts
I miss your first apartment very much. All interior decoration and the furnishings. I fell in love with it from the first post I saw on instagram, but I understand that life is also about change.
You seem so much more content and cosy in your home since you made the decision to stay in Edinburgh. 😊 Your home is lovely and you didn't make mistakes, you just took a journey to get to what it is now! Regarding your plant, it's beautiful and I hope it's with you for years. I purchased a plant as an afterthought when I was very young and in spite of my lack of green thumb it just kept growing and staying alive. It went from a table plant to a large floor plant! It moved 3 times with me and I had it for 35 years until I moved from Chicago to Ireland 7 years ago. It was a part of our family at that point and I wasn't sure what to do until my niece agreed to take it from me and that plant has been living there since! Living things have a spirit!
I really like your channel, but I must admit that I prefer your former style more, the classic, floral English country style. I don’t think I ever change because I love that style for all my life.😅
Suggestion.....how about a picture of Sophie??? She is adorable! And, yes, your home is gorgeous and you really have fantastic decorating skills and taste. 😊
Nicolas, Gand Duchess of Edinburgh, just returned from the Highlands, posing elegantly under his recently acquired commissioned painting with a matching sweater.
Our dear NIcolas, how nice to see you and your cozy home, which you managed to turn into an oasis for relaxation with your own efforts. I hope that one day I will be better and that the will to live that I lost due to the sudden loss of loved ones in such a short time will return. At the moment I still don't have the strength, I'm still paying, but it will get better, I guess soon I'll be getting my home ready again and looking forward to it like you do yours. Be blessed and live your young life as best suits you. Cordially
I was sad for you while reading this. I hope that your love of life will return to you gradually. Music and nature seem to be the best therapy for me. I hope you have a supportive network that you can reach out to during this time of difficult recovery.
@@virginiaboone8163 Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your empathy. I am actually alone with my son, whom I take care of because he is a disabled person. I'm fighting, I guess it will get better one day. Greetings to you and be well, healthy and happy.
Re. The TV - my sister has hers on the wall with a frame around. I think pictures from some gallery are beamed in. It’s F&B paint everywhere, and in Edinburgh too! 😊
I've been a fan of yours for awhile and have seen many of the changes to your home. But it was very nice to be reminded of the changes to your home and your life. I remain a fan! ❤❤
Furniture placement is so key to harmony in a home. Personally I would take the emphasis away from the rather plain fireplace & mantle and instead redirect it towards the windows. If you moved the sofa under the map prints, the emphasis would be to look toward the light as well as fill in the space proportionately rather than the small escritoire you have there now. Just a suggestion.
I have to admit that I'm one of the ones who loved your former living room and miss seeing it. I get that you want to change and evolve, but that was one of the absolute best rooms I've ever seen! For your current space, would you consider moving the new painting to go above the fireplace. To my eye, the room looks lopsided with the only real pop of color off to one side. It would have pride of place in the center of the wall and take up a bit more space than the round mirror, and would help the sconces to appear more a part of the whole fireplace design rather than kind of off to themselves. You could just prop the painting on the mantel to see how it looks before making any new holes in the wall. Having the painting above the fireplace would add some symmetry that I think the room needs and would be a wonderful focal point. Then you could get a new, less colorful piece to go where the green man is now. Just a suggestion! I would love to know if you try it and if it works! Thank you for today's video. Always love to see what you're doing.
I rather agree with you about the hanging of the green man painting, and I don't think the fern complements it, either. The Christmas tree might go with it better.
My mother and I were just talking about this. We definitely think the beautiful abstract painting would add color and balance to the room over the mantle.
Nicholas I Love you’re Videos but alas no Subtitles and Iam deaf ! But watched anyway ! You’re a lovely Soul but Restless! Like often those who are Sensitive ! It’s a Gift but also often a heavy load the Constant need for change to wonder if ! ( even down to painting or homes ) but it’s that never feeling of belonging truly and a sense of being lost ! Iam still painting been painting forever prob over the cracks !! So much love 💗
Nicolas, would LOVE to see what you've done in your guest bedroom & your bathroom! I live in an older coop building (built 1925, old for USA) I decided to embrace the old tiles & fixtures in bath. I assume this might be the case in your home?? I did, however, completely renovate my tiny kitchenette w/custom cabinets & upscaled the appliances! I do love your kitchen❤! Thanks for the tour!! Look forward to updates on your future decor changes!
I agree - my style is always changing as I go through life changes. I love the changes you have made as it’s calming, welcoming and beautiful. Thank you for the introduction of Magnus your fern! 😊
Thank you for showing us your beautiful home again. It's fine to change your style over time. That's how you keep things fresh and interesting. Sophie and Magnus are lucky to live with you! 🙂
you had a lovely stylish home with plenty of interest it seems you are going modern which is less homely and comfortable.. I preferred it before all the modern additions and removal of the classic style
Something I have, maybe, missed, but, I've never seen your guest room. I would love to see what you've done in there. I do love your videos, especially, your decorating ability.
Yes i'm one of the ones that liked that other place so much more..for me this one has got nothing of the warmth!and beauty! etc of that other one..i could'nt wait for youre videos..i now seldom look..So sorry..but ù have to be happy.🌾
This episode has provided a rich introduction to Nicholas's taste as it has evolved the past two years. His speech has a distinctive tone and represents his lifestyle in its visual and emotive dimensions. I really enjoyed this edition.
I loved your old apartment. I also liked the fact you actually posted regularly. Looked forward to seeing you weekly. It was calm, loved sweet Sophie padding behind you, your cooking attempts. What happened, Nicolas? We miss your old self❤️
You did an excellent job coordinating your jumper to your beautiful new painting. Your present flat is very charming but a little more light would be better, especially in winter. Being a lower level space, is it cold in the fall through to spring? Thanks for a lovely video visit with you and Sophie.🙏❤️
I can see the transformation of your style change - still keeping it calm & relaxing feel - love the look in your bedroom - my style has also change - I love abstract art - I was more to traditional art - change is good - love your place - especially the structure of your last apartment
Me and my Wife just found your channel looking for videos about afternoon tea. And have been binge watching all your videos! We are currently unpacking in our new apartment. And your videos are so positive relaxing and elegant you have helped us so much! Thank You!.
Nicolas, I am thinking that living in that lower area, you would have less traffic noise, or does that make it worse? Also, I love the outdoor patio you have, it is like a walled garden, with beautiful stone. Would you have a garden like that if you lived at ground level? Thanks, I was wondering what kind of plant that was, it looked like a staghorn fern at first. Good to know you have good friends so close-by.
LOVE your new look! You have completely transformed the living room. So awesome how the green man painting is the focus of the room with the fern nearby, so alive and vibrant, paying homage!
Nicolas, thank you for sharing your home with us. I have been hooked on your videos from the beginning. You are an inspiration to your viewers. You encourage others to think "outside the box." I see how your style has evolved over time. I can tell that you are happy and look forward to new beginnings. Stay true to yourself and your dreams. All the best from NYC, Robert
Your home is so charming and peaceful Nicholas. From the beautiful park outside your door with the lush greenery to the soothing colors, plant life and art in your place, you're living in paradise! Thank you for sharing.❤
Would you consider moving the white console table to replace the small desk and have the tv on that? So when you move the bookcase back under your modern painting on the other side of the fireplace, you have created a visual balance to that complete wall. I must admit I liked it when you placed your small desk adjacent to the side wall with a chair. It could return there.
I love how the space turned out, especially the transformation of your living room over the time. It looks modern, yet classic. I think it reflects your personality (and IMHO much more than in the beginning, which just looked a little bit outdated).
Nicolas, I was one of your earliest subscribers and still watch when you post. But someone should tell you that your former home was deliciously charming. The multitude of botanical prints, the comfy furniture, it was warm cozy inviting! While your home is YOUR castle all this minimalism has lost the charm and a theme that reflected your personal style and taste. It all began when you bought those maps of olde Edinborough, Does modern really reflect the Nicolas we know and love? ❤️
Personally, I wouldn't change the frame on your painting in the bedroom. I think it suits the painting and your room just as it is. IT'S ALREADY PERFECT! I would change the mirror above the fireplace...I think it's way too BLAND. You can keep it round, but I envision a nice gold wood frame, not plain but decorative.
Someone I know hung her TV on the wall and took several framed pictures (like the botanicals you used to have) and hinged them to form some sort of "shutters" to cover the TV. It was a bit of work making it but it looked beautiful. I'm one of those people who are happy to see the beautiful painting over your bed! It looks like a window to the outside to me. Thanks for another interesting video!
Love your home and the patio area. I would have my morning coffe there whenever possible. I love my movies and streaming a lot of BBC series, so a TV is a must. I think something more solid for it to sit on would help.
That painting looks perfect in the bedroom, like it was supposed to go there. Great idea about painting the frame the same as the wall! You could possibly put the tv above the fireplace, the black kind of matches the sconces and framed map pictures.
I am new to your channel and I appreciate your love of architecture and simple refinement of homes/life that are refurbished and updated yet still hold the character of the original style. You have wonderful suggestions about interior design. Your voice is so soothing and calm. I could listen to you read anything, an instructions manual - and it would be absolutely fabulous.
i love the painting that has moved to your bedroom. it really is quite modern but for the frame. i agree, give it a try painting it. TV, they’re ugly no matter what. i hate having it in the living room, but since my child is grown i’ll get rid of it entirely when it goes. not really into it and watch things on my phone.
i love that you always change things up in your apartment. after seeing your surrounds, i love Edinburgh! this apartment is perfect, certainly wouldn’t call it a basement.
I love your place! You make everything beautiful. Thought: perhaps consider putting the mirror on the wall adjacent to the window to bounce the light around. It'll also reflect the light from the lamp when you put it on your new piece of furniture. If you put your friend's painting over the fireplace, you'll get that burst of color dead center that you can pick up around the room.
I have to say that I loved this video. The format, the professionalism was great. I think one of your best videos, yet. I am looking forward to more videos you truly are evolving. 🎉
Hi, Nicholas, Thank you for the tour. I'm not criticizing, but I've noticed your home is much more toned down, simple and modern, from the warm beautiful cottage style you had previously. (I think your fireplace mantle is bare and needs some flowers, or your ceramic dogs.) That lamp in front of your sketch drives my OCD crazy! But, I understand it's your home, so you do you!😊❤
I agree. Everyone has their own style, and Nicholas is comfortable with his furnishings, but part of the joy of getting a peek into someone else’s house is to criticise it 😂 well, that’s what I do anyway.
I really like the color of the frame for your painting in your bedroom. I feel that it goes with the colors of your bedding. The color of the sheets brings your eyes up to the color of the frame, so I would not paint the frame a different color. Many people put the TV over the fireplace, and when the TV is not on, it looks like a mirror until you turn the TV on.
I love your new, modern classic style! I changed my style a few years ago, from English Country to Scandinavian Modern. I think it's fine to mix different styles together too! When we grow and evolve, we want our surroundings to reflect those changes in us. Your home is lovely, warm, and cozy!
Lovely, lovely home, I appreciate how you live life beautifully. As for the tv, another person on YT named Lone Fox mounted his TV on a large art easel. It looks really elegant. Please give Sophie and a pat from me. Much love from California ❤
Yes great idea👍. Love Lonefox too. He's such a firecracker. I think Nicky would enjoy his videos 😅. Sending❤to California from Rosie O from Devon England 🤗🇬🇧
Hi Nicholas your home is beautiful and you keep it immaculate have you ever considered doing a video on advice for colour schemes and and good house making rules as I believe you could inspire many with your knowledge thank you for your house tour
The new artwork is really special, I recommend you recover the French style sofa and armchairs in a patterned or geometric fabric with shades of green to harmonize with the painting. Additionally it will add a more luxurious but still on trend feel to the room .. you could also redo the paintwork on the furniture pieces … a lot of work but I’m sure you will be delighted with the results !
I love your home and esp you kitchen! Can you tell me the brand of your toaster? I’m having a hard time finding high polished chrome toasters. So classically pretty!
This is wonderful, Nicolas. Thank you for sharing. Is there direct sunlight from the window by the Freemantle painting during the day? I'm learning and wonder if the integrity of the painting (any painting depending on medium) will be compromise by sun exposure. You have incredible knowledge and a kind, calm way about you that is so cherished.
I would like to comment on your new painting. I looks amazing with the light bringing out the colors. I am sure it is going to bring you much joy in the future as well. It is sticking and really makes a statement. Enjoy it !
I’ve followed you for a good while and I must say, I think this is one of my favorite videos you’ve posted. Thank you so much for sharing a small bit of your life with all of us. You keep me inspired.
Intellectual growth and maturity is showing in your choices and the decor reflects that. The layers of cozy warmth are now being edited to reflect a younger spirit of exploration and adventure. You are gaining in self love and I love the look. It is a freshness that inspires me and it is very crisp and intriguing. Thank you Nicolas.
I quite agree with your changing taste, prefer your new paired down style, enjoy learning about paint colours for house and yes I am also impatient and want to make changes too quickly!! Hey ur just such a joy to listen to, thankyou for all the decorating tips, more of that please xxx
Nicolas, you have such a beautiful home, and I’ve enjoyed and been inspired by watching how you allow its decor and furnishings to evolve. I don’t think I’ve noticed the bed headboard before; it looks so plush and comfortable, while still looking so stylish.
Home is a place where we are comfortable. Give us warmth. Home is a place where people who love each other live together and keep each other warm. Everything is calm and easy on the eyes, even if you're alone. But we can still feel the LOVE...Home is Sweet...it's magical to call HOME...💖
Did you re-paint that oval table from grey to ivory once again? I think the ivory and gold frame works well. With regards to the TV, you should buy a cabinet with doors to place it in.
I used to have a television in my living room, not any more, but covered it when I was using it with an attractive shawl. Couldn’t stand seeing a black rectangle. Also, maybe painting the table it is on, a color to match your other furniture. Your home is really looking lovely. 😊
Nicholas... just a tip on the plant. I actually put mine in a larger pot and fill the bottom 1/2 way up with water . That way the bottom of th roots soak up as much water as it needs.
I love everything you’ve done to this home, tv included. We gotta live fully in our spaces, where else can we do that? And the painting in the bedroom, I think it’s a fantastic calming addition. But! My favorite improvement you’ve made by far was covering those hideous red kitchen tiles 😂 Bravo! 😊
Great video Nicolas. Watching this episode I felt like I know you personally with the history of your home because I have been watching and following you for a long time.
You could always place a wood cabinet right there with double doors to open and watch TV... then close, and it just looks like a nice piece of furniture .
Have you considered getting The Frame - Samsung television? It's the best of both worlds, it looks like the framed and matted art of your choosing when off and can hang perfectly flat to the wall.
I really wish everyone wasn't given the impression that Scotland consists of nothing but rotten weather. England has rotten weather too you know, just like anywhere else in the world. Our Capital City is beautiful and is worth more than what the weather is like
I would say Nicolas should be named favorite adoptive son of Scotland, he makes us wish to visit Edinburgh with his videos. I also come from a part of Spain where it rains a lot (Galicia) and I can understand your comment.
This video was just the right amount of soothing relaxation I needed. Nicholas is like a honey sweetened cup of chamomile tea!

I find all electrical appliances unestetic also. I try to hide them as well as much as I can
Do what you love and love what you do 😍💕 👍

❤agreed
*another great telly solution is the mounted framed painting when shut off / tv when turned on.* 🖼
I really like the color of the frame for your painting in your bedroom.
@@tadeuszoltarzewski Sending it right back to Devon friend! ❤
Hi Nicholas your home is beautiful and you keep it immaculate have you ever considered doing a video on advice for colour schemes and and good house making rules as I believe you could inspire many with your knowledge thank you for your house tour
Nicholas, I enjoy your videos. Thank you. Do you ever visit the Caribbean.?
Do you have an email address to share.?
The new artwork is really special, I recommend you recover the French style sofa and armchairs in a patterned or geometric fabric with shades of green to harmonize with the painting. Additionally it will add a more luxurious but still on trend feel to the room .. you could also redo the paintwork on the furniture pieces … a lot of work but I’m sure you will be delighted with the results !
I love your home and esp you kitchen! Can you tell me the brand of your toaster? I’m having a hard time finding high polished chrome toasters. So classically pretty!
You've evolved into a luxurious minimalist.
My way exactly.
Love it
This is wonderful, Nicolas.
I enjoyed it very much thanks for sharing and your calm voice.❤
Nicolas, you have such a beautiful home, and I’ve enjoyed and been inspired by watching how you allow its decor and furnishings to evolve. I don’t think I’ve noticed the bed headboard before; it looks so plush and comfortable, while still looking so stylish.
Why didn't I know you when I was starting out?! Things would have made sense to me. Beautiful home, well done.
Hi Nicolas. I think you would appreciate a frame tv. Samsung has beautiful frame t.v's. The possibilities are endless. 😊
Loved this video, your home is so beautiful,I like the idea of painting the frame to match the wall, interested to see how it looks ❤
Love the jumper my favourite colour your flat looks beautiful love the colour
omg your skin is GLOWING !! desperately in need for a skincare tips video ;(
I used to have a television in my living room, not any more, but covered it when I was using it with an attractive shawl.
Couldn’t stand seeing a black rectangle.
Also, maybe painting the table it is on, a color to match your other furniture.
Your home is really looking lovely. 😊
Your sweater perfectly matches your new living room painting - a coincidence or intentional? [BOTH are absolutely lovely by the way].
Be careful with the painting near the window. The light will really fade the paint (I speak from experience).
Nicholas... just a tip on the plant.
I am obsessed with the direction you are going in your home!
Great video Nicolas. Watching this episode I felt like I know you personally with the history of your home because I have been watching and following you for a long time.
Just a thought but I have picture lights above paintings they just cast a nice glow ❤
I’m here for anything you post!!! You do you!
I love the new piece of art. I mix contemporary pieces with antigues.
Mirrors and I love my floor lamps with a button on cord to tap on. It gives such directional lighting
Hi Nicholas you’re have elegant apartment with such amazing decor. I like your tricks and tips and books have some great ideas 💡
