As an Interior Designer, I have been biting my tongue to not comment on your furniture placement, BUT then you brought it up at the end! So, here is my solution for what you expressed your concern about. YES, remove the round skirted table entirely, along with it's large lamp. Keep your window round table and secretary where they are. Leave your sofa where it is. Now, move your desk from under the two large pictures and turn it so when seated at your desk, your back is on the fireplace wall. Then, take your long bench, which is now in front of the fireplace, and place it on the wall under the two big pictures. What this does is break up the lines that all parallel the fireplace: your desk and the sofa/coffee table (and it you have a console behind your sofa). The bench going the other way will stop blocking your fireplace and will help counter all those parallel lines. Take two of the chairs at your round dining table in the window and flank your fireplace with them. You will probably have to move your sofa more towards the fireplace and the chairs so it is more conversational.... but a larger coffee table would eventually solve that problem. You have very little to move, so give it a try.... and if you do live with it a while and like it, then consider dropping the height of the two big pictures so that they relate to the bench below a little more. Oh.... and get a skinny lamp for your desk so that corner is lit. Small changes like this will make your living room look less cluttered and, in my mind, a lot chicer.
I am not an interior designer, but I have studied architecture and design. I agree with all you say, Page. I commented that Nicolas should take a flower arranging course. Although he often does well, his wreaths and bouquets are never quite right. Hate to be critical, because Nicolas does have refined taste. However, he could do wonders if he took a few basic design courses, to tweak his abilities.
the paint color is beautiful. so sorry for your favorite florist closing, but amazing flowers from the supermarket! no you do not need a flower arranging course, as someone commented, former florist here, your arrangements and wreaths are beautiful and natural. don’t agree with the interior designer’s idea for furniture arrangement. i just don’t like the little desk sticking out into the room, it looks like you’re the concierge waiting to check someone in. i adored your large painting over the mantle and miss it, those two botanicals are too fussy. store the desk, and put the bench on the wall under the large pictures. use the secretary for your desk as you used to. i know you wanted to hide the fireplace shiny brass surround but blocking it looks awkward. perhaps shopping for an antique decorative screen. i think you probably need that lamp’s light in the corner in the evenings, but maybe instead of a chair, get a more modern floor lamp and remove the skirted table and lamp. just suggestions! i feel you’re not exactly sure of your style just yet.
What a lovely video. You are very inspiring, precisely because you aren’t strictly a pro. You are constantly refining, learning and improving. THAT is the magic, we can all start from any where (in my case a very low bar!)and improve things a little. Shooting for perfection from the get go is terrifying and impossible to relate to. Thank you for sharing so much with us. You are utterly charming!
Love the new wall color. I wouldn't want anything in my house that says mouse, eek! Page has some good ideas. I do agree to get rid of the green round table in the corner. It isn't being used and just takes up space and looks a bit old fashioned for you. Everything is shaping up beautifully! Have fun and happy spring!
Nicolas, I LOVE everything you do!! As a pro Artist, you do what feels right to you! This is indeed your beautiful home. You have lovely beautiful taste.❤
I'm afraid I will be leaving our little family in a few weeks as I am losing my apartment due to lack of income but I want to thank Nicolas for helping me stay sane through these last two years. Such a gentleman and an inspiration. I will miss you all.
Nicolas, the paint you have used is really lovely and the flowers come into their own with the backdrop of the wall. I do like the idea of you having an armchair where the circular table now stands. This week to help the change of season, i moved much of my furniture around and found I was much more comfortable. You give us so much inspiration. Thanks from Australia.
I love the new shade of the walls! Although I'm a huge fan of your old decor style with more things in the room, I love seeing your decor and style evolve as time goes by. I look forward to your videos every week. I think your floral arrangements are lovely. They're imperfect, and that's what makes them so lovely.
Nicholas I love the beautiful job you did painting your livingroom. I hope you enjoyed your Italian holiday. Thank you for all your inspiration, you truly are so generous with your sharing. Beautiful floral decor, they are so dainty and sweet, while maintaining endless grace. With kindness and appreciation, Jessica.
I miss your painting. I think it might be in your bedroom but it’s not seen by others. And I love your flower arrangement. You are a nice person & watching you calms me.
Здорово получилось! Светло и жизнерадостно!) ☀️☀️ Сервировка стола нежная и нарядная, как весна!)) Спасибо, что делитесь умением и красотой!!)) Lena, С добром из России!) 🌺🌺🦋🦋🦋🏡
Nicolas, I LOVE your house and the color of the living room is beautiful. You're very right, a room has to be "you." Where I was growing up with my aunt and uncle, their yard was full of spring flowers. My aunt loved her roses and my uncle grew prize-winning tulips and there were surprises i.e. hyacinths and daffys tucked here and there. And the yard was carpeted everywhere with white and purple violets.. She would have loved you! It was truly like a fairyland growing up, and my brother agreed with me. There were also beautiful flowering trees. My favorites were dogwood and crabanpple. Easrer is my favorite holiday. Wish I was still with her, I's do those lovely bunnies. She always had those big sugar coated eggs with scenes inside. For an imaginative kid like me I loved the whimsy and good dreams that followed.
Nicholas a more economical way re paint is to purchase a can of more inexpensive base paint and do your first coat in that and paint store will tint it the same colour as the more expensive paint you purchased to implement your colour change. Either way it looks fantastic.❤
As per usual, another beautiful video. Thankyou and belated blessings over the easter period. I do like the new colour after all, I thought I might not! I think both the round table and the lamp should go from that corner. What a out putting a big plant there. I LOVED your flower arrangement, loose and oh-so-delightful, you are so gifted with flower arranging. The table setting was also perfect. Those 3 new pics will look great when framed above the bookcase. I'm glad to hear you're putting a mirror above the fireplace. As you say, less is more. You see everything. And not too much colour. Your home is really cosy. Sending lol xxx
The paint colour is lovely and does brighten the room. I laughed when you said you had only painted it a year or so before and you were aiming to keep the new colour for at least three years. With only two of us in this house, neither of us smokers and both very tidy/clean people we just repainted after 20 years and had the same colour put on the walls since we loved it so much - you probably would have been shaking your head and rolling your eyes.
I say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I have a few rooms that aren't used very often. The walls were painted in 1985. I have washed them, but haven't repainted. The colour we still like and it is not chipped or in need of repair or patching up.
Very beautiful wall of bright room! You are a talent etiquette table with luxurious plants and fine plates and glasses! You are a great gentleman to be designed home styles. ❤
It's spring in Texas & just took a break & watched this new video. I'm even more inspired now after watching you to declutter & add a fresh coat of paint to a wall. {{hugs from Texas}} Anna
At 20.52 minutes please let me know what that beautiful piano piece is. My goodness it’s the most beautiful, romantic piano playing I’ve ever heard. And your table looks beautiful. And you picked a beautiful color paint. Good job.
Much better color for the living room Nicolas! I always felt the other color was too dark but live and learn right? An apartment below street level doesn't get as much sunlight as apts at or above street level! What hard work in one day! Well, your reward, six days in Italy, lucky you! Thanks for sharing again! And a room now bursting with natural sunlight and beauty just in time for Spring and Summer like you said~ bon voyage!💚🌳🌻🧡
Nicholas you never disappoint!! Stunning as usual. I so enjoy your videos. They are always so relaxing and informative. Really appreciate you. Keep it up!!!! ❤️
Nicolas, I am not sure how I found your channel. It is so relaxing to watch your videos. You have motivated me to go shopping and setup my table. My plates are squared and I was able to find some Rattan squared chargers. I have been doing some serious shopping in the past few days, thanks to you. 😅 But it has made me happy and motivated. It’s a good feeling. Thanks for the amazing videos. Truly appreciate it. ❤
Nicolas love xx your voice sound like a angel. Nicolas you made a good decision on your paint for the living room. It radiated light and beauty. Also the choice of flowers l really enjoy your time off how to arrange them plus the spring 🌼🌼🌱 like colors . Love how you decorate your table love the charters and plates plus wine glass and water glasses. Also view of the outside love the noice of cars and people thru out your place . You look amazing and chic beauty loving kindness awesome person. Thank you for showing me about it. Happy Easter weekend. My was good and peaceful. I went to church to celebrate our lord day and remembering about His love and sacrifice for saving me. You are so sweet and talented. Take care Nicolas love xx. Kisses and hugs to you and family. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The color on your wall is so much better than the darker one! Although I like Dark colors on walls, in your room creamy colors are much better because it is very dark in your place. And the color is very soft and kind. Very lovely flower arrangement ❤
Excellent vlog this week Nicolas. Your Easter table setting was beautiful, what a treat for your guests. Always amazes me how wall colour can completely transform a room and lift your mood. Well done!
I am also an interior designer and feel Page's recommendations are great. For me, scale and balance is key in design. The two large pictures really need a larger piece placed under them such as the lower bookcase to the left of the fireplace to give the pictures a better anchor and balance. As I don't have a good memory for the whole layout of the room, if there is space to move out the large round drum table a little more into the room closer to the fireplace so giving a walk way to getting to and placing the desk facing the window for natural light and a view. Until the skirted table can be replaced by a easy/club chair, I would place one of the dining arm chairs in the corner. Also, I felt the oil painting of the Cotswolds was in great scale to the fireplace and miss seeing it for adding color and texture to the room.
nic, my favorite british queen is back…. nice color. that green really was quite something….. so it’s good you had a change of heart and painted your parlor less garish
Looking classic and stylish, I would paint the mantel piece/fire surround either a gloss black, or a very dark grey, the contrast with the walls would look amazing. Have a think about it. Thank you.
I do love the color you chose for your walls! Lovely! You have such great ideas for florals and tablescapes. I really look forward to each of your podcasts. your voice is so soothing and you always bring inspiration for bringing simple beauty into my home. Thank you!
Great idea! You took my suggestion! You need something cheerful and light! You can also do an accent wall with a brighter color. That new color looks much better and not depressing.
@@maryoleary2037 Not so when highlighting neutral walls. Wallpaper is back and a painted accent wall adds interest and complexity in the right way. I would not suggest wallpaper in this case, however. The accent wall is best with a related color or darker shade. For example, if the walls are a light blue, the accent wall can be a darker shade of blue. The lighting does wonders with this type of scheme. Nothing is really passe if used correctly.
Happy Easter. Happiest Spring. Great paint color, it looks so much brighter & better. Well done. Great table scape, very inviting especially with the white & yellow flowers. An organic feast for the senses. I like the art prints as well. Good eye for complementary shapes. Looking forward to seeing them on the wall as a trilogy.
Hi Nicolas...the new wall color is very warm and calming! (Great choice)! Your table setting is always an A+ with fresh beautiful flowers! Great job in greeting Spring/Easter!
Hi Nicolas! What a chic and bright colour you choose. So fresh indeed. Nice to see that you are pleased with it. Looking forward to see what you are going to do with the rest of your room. Thanks for sharing your calming video's. P.s. I do agree that removing the round table with the cloth in the corner will make your house look more fresh and more you.
Yes, time for the green skirted table to go. It was lovely in its time but your look is evolving into a more masculine, contemporary look so it’s just time for a change. I really liked the Mouseback colour, thought it was quite sophisticated but I can understand how on a daily basis in your step down Edinburgh apartment it might start to feel heavy. The new colour is fresh for Spring and Summer. If I were as adept at painting as you I’d be changing my wall colour seasonally 😄- well, at least annually.
I agree with the skirted table. It worked before but now looks out of place. I actually enjoyed his older, more traditional, country British look with floral prints, floral armchairs, patterned tea sets, and Staffordshire dogs. BUT, I love watching someone's style change and evolve. My home, ten years ago or so, looked similar to his currently developing look. Now, in 2023, it is full of chintz floral curtains and is a bit "stuffy" as I'm in love with old English country cottages. It's lovely to see Nicolas's creativity and ideas come to life in his videos.
Дизайн изящен и прекрасен. Я рада, что наконец-то догадался перекрасить тёмное подвальное помещение в белый цвет. Ещё побольше бы зеркал. Они бы отражали солнечный свет. Парень - молодец
Nicolas, love the fresh new paint color. The Italian prints are a true find! The shapes completely compliment the art behind you. Round and rectangular shapes. Will look great framed! Art in a room makes all the difference. You needed those prints!! Thanks for another lovely show! Your Easter table was pretty too!! Happy Easter!!
Loved the original color of your walls and I love this new color also! So cute with the bunny ears napkin folding/ eggs! I would love to see a video with more napkin folding. I love setting a beautiful table as well. ❤
So, good to see you Nicolas, I started watching you from the start of your You Tube Channel. Keep going, you are a talented and very pleasant person🎉 Well done you.🎉
That is a nice colour for the wall it made a huge difference to the room already . And with the immaculate table setting of earthy colour I feel like I'm looking into a beautiful garden indoors Nicholas simply bliss 🌸🌸🌸
Great paint job. Love your floral arrangements. The picture hanging trick/secret is one I will definitely use. I appreciate you sharing it. I hope you do not get rid of that fabulous painting you had above your fireplace....I so much enjoy the tablescaping-I enjoy doing that also. Looking forward to seeing your new prints from Italy framed and up on the walls.
Looks great Nicolas chéri! Lifts up the room🥰🥰🥰 I always Love to See you, Always inspiring. You have another Energie since the Last Time i saw you. I know Luca, beautiful place,.Like the prints. Bonne affaire. Much Love from South of France☀️
Ooo love the new color on the walls made it brighter. The table setting is gorgeous love the flowers you used did not know about daffodils killing everything. Thank you for sharing. 😊❤
Love the table setting! I placed daffodils on my dining table and entryway. They just make me happy, so I understand your love for flowers. Good luck with rearranging the furniture. It. An definitely be challenging. 💕
I was at my local corner shop a couple weeks ago on a super warm day and saw the flowers out front getting scorched. So I rescued a dozen white roses and am so glad I did. My garden is chock full of tulips and daffs etc but the white roses (and yes, even the baby's breath!) are just so nice, and they have lasted :)
Good Morning Nicolas it a beautiful day here in Canada NL it a joy to start my day with you when i can thank you for all the beauty you share with us i love your out look on life you are a wounderfull young man im so glad i found your page my summer will soon be getting busy but i will trying my best to keep in touch you great job on your apt flowers always had joy to the soul have a awesome day .
I loved your changes - so beautiful! I think the interior designer below (Page) has some good ideas - I would like to see how those things would look that she suggested. However - sometimes it is fun to figure things out yourself in your own way. You are going to be so happy with your freshly painted room when you return from your travels in Italy. Thank you Nicholas!
I prefer light colors for the living room, they give more clarity and warmth. They go more with your personality. A beautiful Easter setting table. I love that part of Italy too.😊😊❤
The new fresh “lick” of paint on the walls looks great! I also think the round table with the lamp in the corner needs to find a new home. Placement of your desk seems awkward. I personally love your flower arrangements as they are. Many good and well intentioned tips in the comments that you may find helpful. I look forward to the reveal when you have finished fluffing your beautiful nest. Thanks Nicolas🐇🐇🙏❤️
Loved the previous paint colour, but yes, the fresh new color is lovely and brightens the room. One observation for a round table of four seats place the dining chairs to the corners of room, there is more area to back out and stand as well as open access to the seat without the concern of a wall directly behind. I know this was not described correctly most likely, but hope it makes sense. …maybe 10-2-4-8 clock face instead of 12-3-6-9 It works for me, perhaps you as well. Thank you for the information regarding daffodils 🌼
Hello Dear Nicholas. I hope your Easter was blessed and a good day for you. I liked the old color but tbh I felt it too dark for your apartment being on a lower level. This new color is lovely. Refreshing too! Your table looks beautiful. Love the way arranged the flowers in the center of the table. I miss the beautiful painting you had above the fireplace. Have a great week. ❤

The colour looks GREAT! The mouse's back was very smart, but perhaps too moody for the short winter days of Scotland.
Love the new living room color. What a difference!! Completely brightens up the room🙂
We had a wonderful, but cold Easter morning of 39 degrees, in Powder Springs, Georgia. You do look refreshed after your Italian getaway. Happy Easter!

The room looks very elegant and bright the colour is beautiful ❤❤❤
Love the new wall colour! Your centrepiece of white flowers are very beautiful! Cute bunny napkins! What a great idea! 😊❤
New paint certainly brought more light to the room. Good job!
the color is more relaxed and updated also reads well on camera.
Beautiful and soothing. It's always worth the effort to refresh your home!
Hi Nicolas...the new wall color is very warm and calming! (Great choice)! Your table setting is always an A+ with fresh beautiful flowers! Great job in greeting Spring/Easter!
Dear Nicolas i was feeling a bit low and you vidio was so uplifting thank you god bless you from a brit living in canada
YES!!!! Your architectural prints look so much better that much closer together!!! The color is lovely. I love beige/whites with undertones.
Thank you!
So nice to see you and so welcoming with your warm personality
The room looks amazing and so refreshing
I am utterly delighted you switched back to white.👍💕
Nicolas the new color I love it..I know it will all look great once you get it as you like.. Can’t wait.. Thank you for sharing..!!
Oh my!!!! I absolutely love your paint choice! It really brightens up the space! Love your videos!!
I missed your spring videos, I am very excited to see what you have in store for us this season 💐
I'm excited that you're excited!
The paint, the prints, everything in this room, I love it! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Love watching this, much better color, makes the room look bigger.😍
I would love to see a vintage mirror above the fireplace ❤
Nicolas, love the fresh new paint color. The Italian prints are a true find! The shapes completely compliment the art behind you. Round and rectangular shapes. Will look great framed! Art in a room makes all the difference. You needed those prints!! Thanks for another lovely show! Your Easter table was pretty too!! Happy Easter!!
The flowers on the table are lovely. Edited to say: I always get such good ideas from your videos.
Keep going, you are a talented and very pleasant person🎉 Well done you.🎉
Beautiful British colour, very nice and warm.
That is a nice colour for the wall it made a huge difference to the room already . And with the immaculate table setting of earthy colour I feel like I'm looking into a beautiful garden indoors Nicholas simply bliss 🌸🌸🌸
Every frame of this video is filled with something beautiful. Love the new paint and the centerpiece. Hope Italy is wonderful.
Those Rebecca Udall chargers and placemats are absolutely impeccable! What a lovely table. I love the paint, too.
Gracias Nicolás por las ideas tan bonitas que nos regalas para ver hermosa la casa sigue adelante y muchos éxitos para ti cuídate😊
I absolutely love the color and your place is so warm and inviting.

Love the new colour. Look forward to how you decorate the room now.
Love the video and your vibe an energy, your house is gorgeous, I love your elegant manners and accent

the new colour looks so much better than the previous one
I loved your changes - so beautiful! I think the interior designer below (Page) has some good ideas - I would like to see how those things would look that she suggested. However - sometimes it is fun to figure things out yourself in your own way. You are going to be so happy with your freshly painted room when you return from your travels in Italy. Thank you Nicholas!
Love the new colour, so light and bright, in fact I'm going to copy that colour in my living room, so thank you for introducing me to Lick paint.
Wow! Amazing how a coat of fresh paint makes your home look brand new! 😊
I think so too!
I also have been to Lucca a few years. We stood a week, it was beautiful. Love the new wall color.
