I discovered your channel last night. And, wow, it's beautiful. Your tone of voice, your elegance and simplicity, your style and way of seeing life. I believe there should be more channels like yours, away from the chaos we live in, especially in my country (Mexico). Your voice and aesthetics will undoubtedly be a great company in my life from now on. Thank you very much, Nicolas. I will soon make those cucumber sandwiches for tea. ❤ 🙏🏼
Nicolas, have you ever thought about turning the back hallway into an art gallery? You could just get a camera and shoot portions of classical buildings etc. in Edinburgh (perhaps in sepia?) and have them printed out. If it turned out to be really good you might even ofer a few for sale. Just a thought.
Your flat is so elegant but cozy also. It shows your talent for decorating which we all already knew you had. Thank you so much for showing us your's and Sofie's home. Love to you both.
Dear Nicholas, so many of us love you and your content- thank you so much for another episode that takes us out of our every day lives. Love and best wishes to you❤
Enjoy your channel. I think a slim console table over the hall radiator with a large mirror would make it look like a foyer, a place to drop your keys, sunglasses, etc. For a pop of color a bright runner down the hallway
Wonderful broadcast! Just a word of advice regarding the TV in the bedroom....find yourself a flatscreen and have a custom frame built around it. You can then have a memory stick with your favorite works of art loaded onto and it will turn your television into any painting you like 😊 You have the convenience of having a television in the bedroom, but without the horrific aesthetic of a big black box mounted on your wall.
Hi Nicholas. Sophie's haircut is adorable! Pops of black and wood always looks great in rooms. The maps look good as you have them. You've done a great job on your home and should be proud of it and yourself.
I love your place! It's a little house more than it is an apartment, in my opinion. I think your idea of mossy green high-gloss paint in your dining room would be spectacular. And you've transitioned into your new style beautifully. It's a great lesson in how to make changes without spending the Earth by letting go of pieces that will no longer work and adding new ones a little at a time.
Thank you for the tour. As a regular viewer was nice to see areas we haven't seen. Homes are always a work in progress. You have made elegant choices sure you will keep making it a more beautiful home for you and Sophie of course. ❤❤❤❤
A gallery wall in your hallway would be lovely and personal. Also I love a reading nook. The little built in stand or table behind you could have a very tall dramatic silk flower arrangement - tall and thin. I love your apartment!
Wallpaper for the hall. Stephanie on Chateau Diaries did one of her bathrooms in a floral bluebell Pattern and a downstairs in another floral. Beautiful.
I am in the USA and in more recent builds there is a dedicated room for the washer and dryer and might include a sink and places to hang wet things to dry and can be closed off from the rest of the house. Your home is just beautiful……as always!! Take good care! Blessings!!!
I love the earthy colors and botanical feel in your apartment. I once read an article from an interior designer who said, every room should have something black in it. I agree! You definitely need something above the bed. If you change the frame, your painting will really stand out. Your outdoor space is beautiful and very romantic. Thank you for inviting us into your home. 💕
Sounds like you may have a touch of allergies or a seasonal cold. Take care of yourself Nikolas, we are all grateful for your channel! Your apartment is charming, just like its occupant s
I’m only halfway through the video but wanted to say before I forget… You’ve done many beautiful things to this place but by far, your greatest was finding a way to cover the red wall tiles! Bravo! 😅👍🕺🎉
Not to raise your alarms or criticize but you've been getting sick quite often... I don't believe in diagnosing strangers on the internet, but just a reminder to take care of your health 💕
Nicolas, I absolutely love your Flat. You have done an exquisite job of decorating it. I really like the way you have redone your living room. The colors, pictures, arrangement of furniture, etc. is done in good taste. Looking forward to your next video. Have a good week as well Nicolas😊
Yes, that painting from your living room will look great over your bed and it will give you the chance to go looking for another painting in keeping with the new look in the living room 😉 I’ve never liked the idea of laundry in the kitchen but I was surprised when you, UK born and bred said that. 😄
The new front door colour sits beautifully alongside the stone walls. The apartment was such a find, with the courtyard garden. Love the bedroom colour scheme.
Your home is very beautiful Nicolas! Thank you so much for giving us this tour! I hope you feel better soon, you sound a little under the weather. 🥺💖🌷 Sending you lots of love and hugs! xx
Living room looks good. To my eye, the painting over the fireplace, needs to go up a few inches...not too high, but so it is not resting on the mantle. Of course, if it is going over the bed, then is can stay where it is for now. You most certainly need something over the bed, so consider a new frame on your painting. I'd like to see some comfortable type of chair is your courtyard. If you want to sit outside and read, your current chairs look very spartan.
You are certainly not alone when it comes to budget. It has taken me years, I DO mean YEARS, to make my townhome feel like ‘me’, like home. Be patient with yourself. If you were able to run out and make instant changes that seem to appeal, a short while later you may not care for those things. I’m almost glad about budgetary restrictions I have faced because of forced me to think my decisions through. It also taught me to be patient.
I remember coming across your channel you'd just put your 3rd video up which I then went to look back at others and saw there was only 2 others.... and here we are today heading towards 200k subscribers.... lovely xx❤
I know change is good, but I love color and pattern. So I really miss that gorgeous large round table with books and a lovely large lamp, in the living room. Just changing the table skirt to jute would have fit in here so well. I think the dining room would look lovely with a pop of green. Even just an accent wall behind the buffet, would have such an impact. I love the little settee in the dining room. A touch of elegance. In the hallway I think if you painted that tiny corner cabinet and put a weathered terra cotta or stone pot with a faux cypress topiary on it, would have a nice feel. Oh my.... I was so happy when you got to the bedroom and the round table was there!!!!!!! Its so classy. I hope you never get rid of it. Yes to the painting over the bed! The room is calming and peaceful, just needs that pop. The stone walled courtyard garden is incredible, with the potted trees and patio. What an amazing space to relax and entertain. This is a perfect little house for you and Sophie.
If I'm not mistaken, you've pared down your pieces of furniture. Your décor style seems to be evolving over time, just as you are; time seems to have added a dimension to your elegance and taste. Love every single item! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with all of us.
You are so sophisticated and have such a zen quality about you, it's so inspiring. Did you ever think of doing a Video about how you manage your Finances. Since you are practically self employed do you earn more one week then another. Also Edinburgh, Scotland has such a rich history. I've always felt that The Scottish, British, and Irish have had some amazing Blue Eyed Soul Singers.
Absolutely ❤ your flat Nicolas. The courtyard is a stunning addition. Having been to Edinburgh I can say that you live in a stunningly beautiful part of the world.
Hi Nic... perfect choice with a dark rich jewel box effect for the hall way and then lots of rich prints... Living area is beautiful now that you painted over the dark color. Skirted table is gorgeous in your bedroom... very good choice and very elegant. I do like both night stands accompanying your bed. Think of repainting them and save your money if the quality of wood is good. New hardware for draw pulls might be nice. Your place is beautiful for sure... a real lovely space. You're lucky! Love the petals in your garden, how special. Thank you as always. Much continued good cheer to you.
Thank you for the lovely tour and taking us to never before seen places! I can’t wait to see your updated hallway. Very inspiring home and your whole video just felt so relaxing! 🤗 ❤
I appreciate the mix of classical and modern elements in the bedroom. A piece of modern art would be beautiful above the bed and echo the modern style of the lamps. Love your style.
Art from at least after the Impressionist era, not necessarily modern or post modern. Simplified lines and planes. Wait until you find something you love. No rush. In the meantime, you can put a lovely little painting over the bed. Caution: I can be wrong, haha.
Dear Nicholas. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us! Sofie is so adorable! Everything is so classy and elegant , love the new color in the leaving room. ❤🇨🇦
Thank you Nicolas for your beautiful video. Your home is wonderful, I like your idea to move the picture above the fireplace into the bedroom. Should you want to change the frame you could provide the old frame with a mirror, that would also look very good over the fireplace.
Your home is very warm. Warmth is so important. I also love art, everywhere I go on my travels I try and collect one piece of art and frame it when I get home. Keep changing your art, it never gets old. You did a good job on your home. Be proud.
Such an elegant home! For your hallway, would you consider a richly colored wallpaper (if you can do that in your flat) perhaps with a print containing a subtle (tasteful) hint of shimmer or gold? It might reflect what light there is and look lovely in the evening when the lamps or candles are lit.
@@NicolasFairford It is a great suggestion, but I think it will outshine the other rooms, unless it is extremely subtle. The hallway should look less important that the living room and dining room. My 2 cents.
Hi Nik !! Love everything you do and all changes to your living spaces. Love the tiny details in design, round table with lovely skirted cloth and chair accent. You as a person is so charming and lovable!!! Your life style so inspiring ♥️🙌
Hi Nicolas! Thanks for sharing your appartement again. I like the new look, it looks fresh and young and yet still classic and stylish. Idea for the corridor? I guess you are not allowed to take the carpet out right? Maybe change both of the lamps, the hanging one and standing one, to something more fresh. And paint the walls in a light, warm colour. Then it will look more modern. Thanks for asking. Bye from Holland, hug for Sophie and get well soon.
had to jump back on and say ... I love all the little fallen sweet flowers and leaves. It looks real and natural and organic. Outdoor spaces should not be too pristine.
Love your style so elegant and simple. Yes I think your idea about moving the art to your bedroom is a great idea. I guess I nice vintage mirror would be nice in its place over the fireplace. What type of topiary trees are on the doorway in the courtyard they are lovely.i enjoyed your tour and insight.
I love how you choose your artwork by what has meaning to your life. I've found that when I just choose what I love, it always fits in with my decor. Your home is beautiful! (I also LOVE your bronze, or brass, turtle!)
much better look. The walls are really nice. I would add a bit of blue or rose to complement the main color...pillows, accessories. Tannish colors or blue look great together. This would POP! The room looks neater and bigger.
Thank you for sharing your personal space. I am enjoying your new modern influences in your design concepts. Watching a movie with you in a cozy space would be amazing. I truly enjoy listening to your voice before bedtime and your overall presentation makes me smile. Thanks again. - Vartan
Nice video. Since you asked --- I'm wondering if you would like to carve out a workout or other activity area as you move into the future? Someone commented on a reading nook, for example. To me, that'd be an overstuffed chair and a properly positioned light source. You said you wanted a comfortable armchair in the bedroom, so maybe consider pulling one of your old armchairs from storage and doing a slip cover so you "have another place to relax".... placing it in the bedroom window nook with a reading lamp perhaps wall mounted and with a dimmer...then move the table and one of your side chairs into storage. Another little painting in the window nook would make it cosier, with a little throw blanket on the chair. That arrangement is minimalist because it's the minimum you need to be perfectly comfortable reading 🙂 Maybe a footstool to raise your legs.
The green in the bedroom-lovely. I do love Lick paints, the little mouse shade is a fav. I think I have F&B overdone in my home. Time for a change, only so much Drop Cloth a person can actually live with.
If you move the painting from over the fire place to the over your bed...please leave the frame as is. That would a touch of elegance and interest to the bedroom. My opinion only.
Love your beautiful home and your super adorable furry friend, Sophie. Your videos are pure joy to watch. They calm my senses. You have such great taste. Take care and keep making beautiful videos
When you showed the hallway, my first thought was the walls need some vertical stripes! Wallpaper or even with paint for a more budget friendly transformation. But some fun pattern could really bring the hallway to life ❤
Hello Nicolas - one of my grandsons is also called Nicolas😀- I 'm also absolutely crazy about tea- especially Japanese Green tea ( leaves and powder) . All the best to you ✌️
Absolutely beautiful. Whenever I feel a bit down, watching you picks me right up and inspires me to upgrade my living space. Your style and personality are just wonderful. - xx, Carla in the US
I think the flat is lovely and working really well now. I love the paint colour in the bedroom and think that works really well with your furniture, including the circular table. I do think it would benefit from having that picture (in a new frame) over the bed. I think the sitting room would benefit from losing the picture also as it feels discordant with the lighter, more neutral scheme there. Thank for sharing this Nicholas.
I LOVE how your style has morphed since I began watching your channel! The changes are lovely Nicholas. Your landlord would be so kind to allow you to change out the living room sconces and the ultra modern ceiling fixture at some point in the near future. The dining room feels elegant to me and very welcoming.
I love the bedroom paint color especially, but I desperately want some art on that wall over the bed... a painting, a large drawing, tapestry.. many things would work.. well done! :D
Have you tried mirrors for directing sunlight to other rooms? Experiment with it, you have many options. Very talented. I love the peel and stick tiles. Great idea!
Your description of your hallway as a blank slate made me smile. My hallway, although much smaller than yours, perhaps reflects my husband and I more than our other rooms lol. We use it as a picture gallery of personal and family mementos. There’s the samplers his mother embroidered; the reverse glass paintings his grandmother did; photos of our furry family no longer with us; and all my birding paraphernalia (binoculars, etc). It’s a small, almost inconsequential space, but it does bring that sense of joy that you talk about. As always, thank you for your inspiring videos!
My parents always had a picture gallery wall in each of their many homes and now so do I. Mine hangs on the wall along the stairs. With family scattered throughout the country this is a way of seeing them every day.
I love your flat. But don't you also have a bathroom and guest room that you didn't show us? That would have been a treat to see. I look forward to watching more of your style changes.
Hi! You may address this later on in the video, but halfway through, I am thinking your home looks a little unfinished. With fewer pieces and layers, the furniture that is left looks a bit undersized, for example, the bookcase and desk. I happened to like the more fussy style of decor you used to have, but I can appreciate a more pared back aesthetic too. It just doesn’t seem quite there yet.
While I loved the look he had before, it looks fine now. A lot of people are going for a less cluttered look. I actually intend on getting rid of a bunch of stuff that's just taking up space.
Hi Nicholas, Thanks for sharing your home! I cannot get over the enormity of your flat. I live in the US, and while I have traveled to Europe and the UK, it is amazing how spacious it is compared to apartments in America. What an amazing space! I’d love to see more on your walls to warm it up along with some more plants since you do have a lot of natural light. You and Sophie lead an idyllic life and I’m happy to have found your channel. Cheers to the next project! Connie
Hi Nicholas! What a beautiful home! Love the mix of classic and modern you are doing mixed with all of the earthy tones! A suggestion for the hallway! To the right of your main door where the telephone is on the wall. you can do a thin console table with a tall mirror above to make the hallway appear larger! Also, a long classic/ Parisian runner will cozy up the space! Hope this inspires you! Can’t wait to see how you make it your own ☺️!
Agree with you, Nicholas, not a fan of laundry being done in food preparation area. However, plumbing is expensive. Especially in period properties, I can see it’s cost effectiveness. Prefer a separate laundry room. If it is in tandem with bathroom (again saves with plumbing piped in from property line, like it closed off (louvered doors, bifold doors, etc.) You have done a truly wonderful job with your property. The thing I enjoy most is the overall feeling of calm. Like you, I have been TV free for about 15 years. Remember my Mother being death on TV in the living room. 1) It’s a place for visiting and 2)attention was supposed to be totally on your guests👍 Maybe when your adding touches to your bedroom you could introduce a color accent. But, until you find what speaks to you, it’s perfect as is!
I’ve followed you for a long time and seen your changes made in your homes. I love everything you do with such elegance and style. I do enjoy having a dining room also Nicolas. Sitting down to dinner with family or friends is still important to many people in this day and age. Thank you for the walk through of your home. Sophie is looking great. Please take care of yourself. Always nice spending time with you. ✨
Thanks for the tour Nicolas. Makes me want to do something new here in my house in the Southern U.S. Most of our homes have a dedicated room for our laundry equipment. I agree with you that the kitchen is not the place to be doing laundry. Keep on doing what you're doing man. We enjoy it.
I love your apartment! The round table in the bedroom looks lovely! I’m really liking how you paired back on the accessories. It looks much better now. The colour on the walls in the living room, looks great! I’m impressed with all of your offerings on your website! You are a true entrepreneur! Good for you! 😊

I agree you don’t need a TV if you have an iPad - TV is overrated. As an Amer😮can I am afraid we take laundry rooms or basement laundries for granted.
I don’t like tv in bedroom, I use my iPad as well
Love your style so elegant and simple.
That is definitely the way to do it! Thank you!
much better look. The walls are really nice. I would add a bit of blue or rose to complement the main color...pillows, accessories. Tannish colors or blue look great together. This would POP! The room looks neater and bigger.
Gorgeous! A hall table and mirror with baskets under etc perhaps or your settee in hallway.. just a thought ❤
Thank you for allowing us to see your lovely, inviting home Nicolas. Blessings be upon all whom enter . Many years of loving memories be made within
Nice to see ! If you need thoughts with the hallway, remove the corner table and put the lamp on top of the trunks . Or remove trunks and just table.
I can see your style changing since I first started watching! I like the direction you're going. Your flat is lovely.
I love this tour thanks Nicolas and Sophie really enjoyed all the beautiful rooms here❤
When you showed the hallway, my first thought was the walls need some vertical stripes!
- xx, Carla in the US
Ahh - I'm so happy to hear that! Thanks so much x
I love the bedroom paint color especially, but I desperately want some art on that wall over the bed... a painting, a large drawing, tapestry.. many things would work.. well done! :D
I think a radiator cover would be really beneficial in the hallway.
I love the green colour scheme in the bedroom.
Yes, that's a great idea! Thank you!
Your home is super lovely, very stylish and simple....very calm. The apartment is a great size, lovely large rooms and the garden is a bonus.
Thanks so much, so glad you think so!
Lovely decor, however your floral arrangements and small green glass / gold candles were always epic and warm. Take care Nicolas
Thank you!
Absolutely LOVED your kind sharing of your beautiful Edinburgh home. Thank you so much!
That is such a great idea - one I might have to steal!
My parents always had a picture gallery wall in each of their many homes and now so do I. Mine hangs on the wall along the stairs. With family scattered throughout the country this is a way of seeing them every day.
The kitchen is done!! The kitchen is done!!!! 💖
I love your flat. But don't you also have a bathroom and guest room that you didn't show us? That would have been a treat to see. I look forward to watching more of your style changes.
The bathrooms are very awful! There is really nothing I can do to fix them up!
I totally agree Susan. Looks bare and a little unfinished. The scale of the furniture looks small.
Agree too! It looks like Nicolas has got rid of all his “treasures”!
Agree. Main room needs more plants & wall art. The walls are too bare in the bedroom as well.
While I loved the look he had before, it looks fine now. A lot of people are going for a less cluttered look. I actually intend on getting rid of a bunch of stuff that's just taking up space.
I understand that. I have thinned out a lot around my house as well.
Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for sharing your home!
Connie
Thanks for your thoughts - more artwork is in my future for sure!
Actually quite a few European countries have the washing machine in the kitchen…it all comes down to the size!
I miss the botanical lamps and side chairs and secretary. They are ME! lol But I love your new style for you!
I still look at your video showing how to polish all your beautiful silver! Hugs from Charlotte, NC.
Nicholas, all your rooms are exquisite. You have excellent taste. Your home looks very posh. Thank you for sharing.
Simply the best and unbelievably inspiring thing that you could ever see
omg im so early! I just want to say that I am grateful for men like you
Agree with you, Nicholas, not a fan of laundry being done in food preparation area. However, plumbing is expensive. Especially in period properties, I can see it’s cost effectiveness.
Prefer a separate laundry room. If it is in tandem with bathroom (again saves with plumbing piped in from property line, like it closed off (louvered doors, bifold doors, etc.)
You have done a truly wonderful job with your property. The thing I enjoy most is the overall feeling of calm.
Like you, I have been TV free for about 15 years. Remember my Mother being death on TV in the living room. 1) It’s a place for visiting and 2)attention was supposed to be totally on your guests👍
Maybe when your adding touches to your bedroom you could introduce a color accent. But, until you find what speaks to you, it’s perfect as is!
Very lovely. Change is always nice.
Thanks so much for your continued support - it really means so much x x
Thanks for the tour Nicolas. Makes me want to do something new here in my house in the Southern U.S. Most of our homes have a dedicated room for our laundry equipment. I agree with you that the kitchen is not the place to be doing laundry. Keep on doing what you're doing man. We enjoy it.
“And my flat is on the map, as well” starts to walk toward map, catches self… “somewhere”. Good catch, Nicolas! Made me chuckle.😅
I love your apartment! The round table in the bedroom looks lovely! I’m really liking how you paired back on the accessories. It looks much better now. The colour on the walls in the living room, looks great! I’m impressed with all of your offerings on your website! You are a true entrepreneur! Good for you! 😊
