lol. I’ve noticed a lot of Dutch people seem to “think” they don’t like traditional gender roles, but really they just mean countries with people who look and act radically different from them, AKA Asians and black people. The obsession with Italians, Spanish, Latin Americans (who are SUPER macho/traditional) etc. that I see in a lot of these vids seem to confirm that. Either they have no idea what people from Latin America are like, or when they say gender roles, they only think of stuff like hijabs and forced marriages.
@@Wetsand348 I wouldn't say they have no idea being that there are Latin Americans living in the Netherlands and TONS in Spain, so they've encountered them. The fact of the matter is that they probably don't have exposure to the poorest Latin Americans, who more likely move to the US if they emigrate. That means that their exposure won't show the worst of machismo. On the other hand, Americans are biased to see the opposite. That said, on every real account, Latin Americans are still less foreign and very much less traditional than the Africans, West Asians and South Asians that Europeans are talking about
Approaching is a no no. Guys do not do it. As a guy who gets hit on occasionally, I'm TELLING you, when they like you, they will approach or stare at you like a crazy person so you approach THEM. Either way, this is 2024 almost, do not be a rookie and go lusting after them, they're big girls, they can approach if they like what they see.
I don't think that women should approach men, but the making eye contact, dropping the handkerchief (Jane Austen style) to encourage a man to approach is probably the best way.
As a 40 year old dutch dude I personally don't care about foreign or not. Met many women from various backgrounds and as long as the attraction and interest is there it'll work. For the past 8 years I've been married to a woman from Paraguay. She traveled around and ended up in the Netherlands and stayed. So I didn't even have to go abroad :D as for cultures I wouldn't date. most likely best too avoid american women. My personal preference is the more "mysterious" looking women with darker hair. So South Americans and Asians works for me. Especially since I also love their cuisine compared to boring dutch. I hit the jackpot there ;) In the northern part of Europe we men do approach women. We are just way more private and we also are more critical on who we want to approach. It isn't just being single so I approach everybody. We got standards and patience.

the approaching thing got me. even tho I'm Dutch. Looking back 20 years ago, I'd go out with my friends and I think guys used to approach more, or maybe that's just the anecdotal bubble I lived in.
No it’s true, it changed a lot even from like ten or so years ago, dutch men used to approach us girls a lot and then dating apps became a thing and it changed dramatically
It's funny cause I went to Amsterdam just once in my life and the only night I went out, I had like 6 different Dutch guys come up to me to ask me for my number and a possible date, even though I went there prepared to not be approached by anyone. I actually went on a date with one of them and turned out to be the sweetest date I've ever had in my entire life followed by an even sweeter one. I think I just got incredibly lucky.
What people don't understand is that dating a girl is HARD EVERYWHERE, unless you're beautiful or go to a poor country, but in the latter case it's not that people are hitting on you because they're in love, but because they see in you a way to escape poverty.
Thats how you describe women in general they use to come up to man these days not even one wil come up i work in the city i speak to people 6 days a week and i gues ive spoken to women mabey 2 or 3 times sinds the start of the year.
We Dutch gave up dating girls. The only guys hitting on Dutch girls are foreigners and usually shorter than the girl. It's such a waste of energy and for the girl, such an annoyance. Plus, rape percentage is 10% and sexual abuse around 34%. Doesn't sound too idyllic.
After your last video featuring Dutch people and their rude opinions about other cultures, I think many of us are happy for the tall, attractive Dutch to stick to dating each other.
@@Frivals hahaaaaaa honest and Dutch doesnt go together. When you mean honest you mean you say nasty things to people to hurt them. Otherwise you lie about yourself in order to achieve your goals.
To some people it is wearisome to speak in another language or listen to another language (even if such person is fluent, needless to say when they are not). It is a stress that not many people are up to living on a daily basis. To make friends, the foreigner will need to speak the local language at some point as the spouse's friends might not be willing to speak English when they can speak their language among themselves. They won't speak English just for one person. It doesn't make much sense to do so to be honest. Besides, they can have kids and having them exposed to different languages might be confusing and harmful in the beginning as they are going to live in one country and the official language will matter the most after all.
@@GeoSocraticI get your first para, but not the second. I think it's a privilege for children to grow in a multi lingual household. I don't see what the problem is. Kids will differentiate.
In most countries you are more attractive to locals as a foreigner, in the Netherlands they extract points from that fact, so it is exact the opposite.
I live in Amsterdam and I am happy to be surrounded by Dutch people who have or had foreign partners, they are a different type of people, those who have no problem speaking another language and dealing with another culture at home, they are very curious to learn new things and get out of their comfort zone. ❤ 🙌🏻🇳🇱
The woman who won't date Chinese because of height. Been living in China for a a few years now and the young Chinese these days can be super tall, met many easily above 185. Unfair to sterotype them as being short...even Korea has many tall, at least 180 which is euro average (I realise Dutch are tallest in Europe)
its about averages and what they experience in real life. they are likely many subconscious reasons they don't like Asian guys but saying height is socially acceptable
Nah, Chad culture is much more similar to the Italian "macho" culture. Also, the whole point of approaching your person of interest is to show you're needy and want their attention. They need to know that shit if you want to try to get further with them. Whether it's the man or woman who has to initiate this doesn't change that fact, and it's always uncomfortable to be the one to approach, because approaching is always the vulnerable option which will lead to rejection in most cases. That's a fact, regardless of whether you're a man or woman. After all, most people like less than half of the gender of interest well enough to want a relationship with them. Most people marry near to 1 person, and not the entire gender.
Yikes! All I am hearing is Dutchmen are anywhere between an incel and a douchebag, but in general a cheapskate. Could you imagine Valentine's Day or the anniversary? "Oh, yeah, pay me when you can for the roses and card I gave you." or "The only reason why I am with you is because you chose me and spoke Dutch." The only remedying quality is being tall and blonde hair, I guess... Even though I have seen plenty of potbelly and unfortunate looking men with blonde hair who are 6'4 in white socks and sandals.
@@lindamanuel9073 The only positive qualities you mentioned are physical and thus superficial in itself. Most of the men aren't cheapskates at all, especially during celebration days. Seems like you're wrongly informed. Dutch men seek more than that. I know, because I am one.
that’s so unattractive if you can’t handle rejection. My bf told me in his teen years he approached many girls just to get rejected and get used to it and that’s how he built the confidence to date in his twenties. He’s so much more secured and confident now because he developed character and charisma that way.
Some date foreigners, some do not. Lived there for 21 years and the Dutch men I dated did not have problems with dating a foreigner. And foreigners can learn and speak fluent Dutch.
Those women were really tall themselves and so if you want a guy who's taller than you dutch men are the way to go. Most dutch women I grew up with didn't think about that as much, they take taller for granted and were not as tall themselves. I'm short , so there are very very few dutch men shorter than me or even the same height. So nothing to worry about.
I wanna also add the Dutch guys get better with age :) it’s so odd when I hear someone say Dutch guys don’t approach women. My husband is Dutch and approached me first, asked me out for dinner brought flowers on our first date and flew me to his country multiple times.
Not for "dating". They just know nothing about the culture, and think about Latinas in a sexualized way, so it has nothing with reality. I had a friend which wanted to date Russian women because society has sexualized Russian women so much. Once he tried to date Russians, he changed his opinion and now dating a Dutch girl. Thinking someone is hot according to stereotypes and actually date people from another culture are two different things.
Great video. Thank you very much. I learn so much from the dating scene in other countries. As well i have to say that the dutch girls are very, very beautiful.
6:35 "Ego...ego is also a thing. For men." Uh huh, sure. Thanks for making the distinction. Stick to that mindset. It's totally not Dutch girls' ego ever playing up or them acting high and mighty (even though they were raised in a modest lower, middle class family) once you do show your interest and make a move.
That's why i never listen to women's advice because it's so individual every woman responds differently. Girls at 6:26 "Yeah, just go for it you know "...10 sec later "Just don't go for it too much "🙄

They simply have no idea, not only them, but pretty much the entire world has little to no knowledge on latin america

They speak english so well. What language barrier ????
To some people it is wearisome to speak in another language or listen to another language (even if such person is fluent, needless to say when they are not). It is a stress that not many people are up to living on a daily basis. To make friends, the foreigner will need to speak the local language at some point as the spouse's friends might not be willing to speak English when they can speak their language among themselves. They won't speak English just for one person. It doesn't make much sense to do so to be honest.
Besides, they can have kids and having them exposed to different languages might be confusing and harmful in the beginning as they are going to live in one country and the official language will matter the most after all.
It's just not the same as your native tongue.

@@Onche518 a man approaching women can easily be seen like a needy guy wanting their attention
@@oliverfa08 Well it depends how you do it. In France, Spain, Italy it’s almost always the guys who do it
Nah, Chad culture is much more similar to the Italian "macho" culture.
