Welcome to my country! Right, Amsterdam in the sun is perfect! I also recommend Haarlem, Alkmaar, Delft, Utrecht, Den Bosch, Amersfoort, Deventer, Harderwijk, Zwolle, and so on.... and you can do it all by train! Another advice: buy a bike! An oma's bike will fit you a lot!
Why buy one when most cities have rentals? Buying a bike is nice if your staying for more than a few weeks, otherwise I would advise against it (mind you, you have to park it somewhere too!)

i will never go to Amsterdam or any tourist city in the world .. they are so tourist focused with tourist traps and millions where there before to say the same things about the same things over and over again ...
It depends if you keep your eyes open or not and the season itself helps as well. I've been to Kyiv in mid-winter: you're a great exception as a tourist during that season: the price of the grivna per dollar or euro is at a great conversion rate (it significantly drops as summer gets near, I saw some 1 to 32 conversion rates, which can go down to 1 to 16 during summer) but most importantly is that they just don't expect you as a tourist. Staff is all very friendly and if you try to speak the language they will go the extra mile for you. Most important thing: the city-center provided all the same kind of shops I was used to in Amsterdam (and I also never visit there), but it was weird to see that I never saw anyone inside except for the staff (my best guess is that those shops are too expensive for the average Ukrainian citizen). I went to more the outskirts of the city and there you would find lovely small restaurants/cafes where you could have very decent cups of tea (read: you would get your own kettle of just-boiled water of such quantity that it was enough to pour yourself 3,5 HUGE cups of tea, honey to sweeten your tea to your likings and for (converted) just 3 euro extra or so I could get 2 very nice bread rolls with chocolate filling (or something else). And even though I tried to avoid the city center as much as possible, food was never seriously expensive (McDonalds was the most expensive I used out of all the food offered there). Though I get the feeling Amsterdam is expensive overall (and very tourist-oriented in most areas) I can not compare this to Kyiv which is home to something like 6 times as many citizens as Amsterdam and is gigantic in surface area compared to Amsterdam. If you dare to step outside the tourist-oriented center (and thus the expensive part) you will manage to find some nice, more authentic places to eat or drink, without spending the pretty penny.
@@weeardguy Kiev has almost 3 million people and the Amsterdam build up area almost 1,5 million, so not 6 times as many only 2 times as many. The Randstad, where Amsterdam is part of are has even 8.3 million, that is more then greater Kiev.
@@RARood @RARood Don't know where you got those numbers from, but Amsterdam as the city (not the area that is under control of the Amsterdam munincipality that also covers Weesp and other areas that got added very recently) is 'stuck' at around 900000 people as far as I know, the Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool recently covered this. I was wrong on the Kyiv part yes, having used the number for the metropolitan area (which is hard to find out where they draw the line on actual city or metropolitan area). But it still does not mean that I get the feeling that Amsterdam is far more tourist-oriented than Kyiv, where especially Kyiv in winter is totally different to Kyiv in summer.
