After several years of watching crafters using Total Boat epoxy for resin projects... it's kind funny watching it used for the intended purpose. ;)
Haha! It's great for boats too! 💪
There is always chaos when doing major boat repairs, order will return in time. You two are doing such good quality work. Well, before you know it, your life will be life on liquid.
Thank you, Bob! We are quite pleased with how the forward cabin turned out!
Hopefully, you guys and Calico can meet up with delos eventually. One life is looking good guys
Thanks, Char! We hope to meet up with Delos in the South Pacific. Unfortunately with Grace's health problems it will probably be a little while before we buddy boat again. 🥺
Hopefully her recovery is quick and she is given the good to go. My positive thoughts and energy is heading her way. Fair winds
Yes, we hope so too! Sending her all our love and positivity! Thanks, Char for cheering on our dear friend! 💞
Yes, we hope so too! Sending her all our love and positivity! Thanks, Char for cheering on our dear friend! 💞
The white looks so good! It’s coming along nicely! Great job guys!
Thanks, Hannah! Enjoy your upcoming adventure! 💙
My heart goes out to you both. You are both doing such an amazing job on the boat. Sending positive vibes. Great vlog :)
Thank you, Elogium! 🥰
Seeing the forward cabin complete tear out and rebuild from scratch, and the massive effort, has been amazing to watch and I applaud you both for sticking with it! Fascinating to learn how all these pieces go together in a sailboat! Keep those videos coming, I'm loving it!
Thank you, Jared! We really appreciate it. Our videos are a bit behind schedule but we hope to have more coming your way real soon!
Watching you guys work is infectious! Blessings from Cape Town. ♥️🇿🇦
Thank you! Amazing that you are watching all the way from Cape Town! 😍
@@SailingOneLife Oh yes. Better not doing something you'll regret afterwords because for all you know, the whole world is watching!! 🤣😜🤪
You both are always smiling ☺ ☺
😁We have a lot to be grateful for!
Guys I think this work will be well worth it. It already looks great. Keep going and this will be awesome. Love your videos 👍👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪❤️❤️❤️
Hi Christy, thank you! We believe all the hard work will pay off too! Thanks for all the good vibes you send our way! Happy to hear you are enjoying our videos.
those white panels make that space look amazing !!!
Thanks, Craig! We love how it turned out!
I’ll take the forward cabin. I’ll let beau come too if you want… 😂
💙 miss you guys
WOW lots of work Looks great thanks for the view.
Thanks, Jerry! We are really happy with the way it turned out!
Compulsive viewing for someone who grew up in a hardware store! V-Birth looking good.
Thanks, Terry! We are happy with the way it turned out!
Lookin' GREAT....Hang in...Highest Blessings
Thank you! Appreciate the good vibes! 💙
Great work. It came out very nice. Keep at it and before you know it you're done. Can't wait until you're all back on the water.
Thank you, Terrance! We are pretty pleased with how it turned out!
Guts and skill. Well done!
Thanks, Charles!
It's amazing how much you guys do get done.
Thanks, Dennis! We had some long days but we are quite happy with how it turned out!
You guys are like the energizer bunny! Wow, it’s amazing the amount of work you guys can get done! Wish you guys the best.
Thank you! It's been a lot of work but hoping when we are finally able to relax at the Marquesas it will be worth it!
All the work and worry is gone. You’re home doing what you love. Stay safe and happy!
Thanks for always cheering us on Ma and Pa Booger! 💓
Love your channel. Way underrated and relatable. Can't wait for you guys to get on the water and point southwest. Please show a metric ton of Gary's fishing stuff, gear used, lines, leaders, knots, patterns, distances how to, catch/clean/cook... would love his take on it, even my wife loves the fishing stuff; probably has a lot more appeal than people realize as it is so iconic of the vitality of the ocean...*doesn't have to be catching* ...just fishing. We have a catamaran in Rio Dulce we are getting ready to move on to and your videos are wonderful to watch, don't have clickbait and have solid content. Well done and thanks. SV Flying Tigress
Hey Stephen! Thank you for the kind words! A few people have requested that Gary show his fishing set up. We will work on putting this together for a future episode. Great to hear you are getting ready to move aboard! It has its challenges but extremely rewarding! Congrats!
Wow great job on everything guys, and great fun video too, inspiring!
Thanks, John! We are pretty happy with the way it turned out!
Gary & Brooke, you both are terrific. Can’t wait to see you on the water!!!
Thanks, Dennis!
Great to see all the hard work in MX, it will pay dividends!!! Good luck with your passage if you are not already heading west. BTW, I noticed many fishing poles going back onto the boat. On our passages from Panama to NZ we used hand reels and it made fishing really easy and as a bonus, they are easy to store (29 fish caught on passages last year)
Hey Tom! Oh wow 29?! Amazing! We both love fishing but the rods certainly take up a lot of space. Not sure I can convince Gary to trade them in for hand lines though. 🤪
You two are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. Wonderful job on everything.
Hi Patrick, ah thank you! Thanks for following along!
you guys are amazing!!
Thanks guys! 🥰
Put it together and take it apart, over and over. It's sure to be right. You both are going to be so happy sailing and looking so great when it all is finally done. Keep up the hard work and keep your eyes on the prize. Love the show, good job!
Ha yeah no idea how many times we put everything together just to take it apart again! It's all part of the process! Thanks, Craig!
I can't believe how much you two have gotten done. You are so very talented in and out of the water. Stay safe and stay groovy.
Thanks, MA! We put quite a bit of time and energy into One Life! She takes good care of us, so we need to take care of her!
It's looks great!
Thanks, Erich!
Y'all are doing amazing! I know that work is almost killing yall, but watching you push through and keep going is inspirational, and yall are much loved! Keep going, can't wait to see yall back out on big blue!
Hi guys! Ah thank you so much! Definitely a lot of hard work but certainly worth it! 💙
Kicking it. The clubbing music for the drive in fast forward was funny. I get the pace you were on and I am sure you are fully decompressed by now. Hopefully the lack of sleep isn't too bad and you are in a rhythm now.
Hey Thomas! We are just in a state of delirium at this point! 😂 Actually we don't feel too bad. ⛵ I guess this is our decompression phase!
Seeing that finished chain plate makes me happy.
You and us both, Larry!
Looks great
Thanks, Blair!
You seem exhausted totally, both of you. That has to be such hard work when you just want to sail, but I guess that is your home now so must be fixed to be safe. Maybe down the road you will just be able to get a brand new boat for your travels and channel. It's great that you guys get along so well, most of the time anyway I'm sure. ;-) Prayers & good luck.
Ha yeah the boat yard is an exhausting place to be! We do work well together so that is definitely nice! Thank you for all the good vibes and well wishes!
you two are the best. really enjoy watching and seeing how nice your relationship is
Thank you, Ed! We appreciate that!
Your skill paid off. Good job you two. Enjoy the videos and progress.
Thanks, John! Happy to hear you are enjoying the videos!
Great work guys, she will be ready to sailing around the horns soon.
Thanks, Bob! We are quite happy with how the forward cabin turned out!
Missed you guys. You both deserve a metal. Excellent patient and great teamwork. Be like a new ⛵ when you get out on the water. Great job.
Thanks David! It has certainly been challenging at times! 💙
Few could do what you guys do. Miss the Video's. Great couple.
Looking good
Thanks, Ed!
It was a pleasure meeting you two at Costa Baja. Safe travels. Looking forward to your next videos😊
Hi Robert! So nice to meet you as well. Just sent you a note over on Patreon. ♥️
Glad to see u guys. Keep up the excellent work. ❤🙌🏼
Thanks, Jorge! 💙
Looks as good as it is appropriately repaired. I have a great appreciation for a job well done and you guys seem to always go above and beyond. Good Luck, fair winds and following seas.
Thanks, Bruce! We are very pleased with how it turned out. The work and hours put into this have certainly been worth it!
That front cabin is going to look quite sharp...
Thanks, Colin! The white really brightens it up in there!
Ugggg. Lots of work. Hope you can finish soon and get back on the water.
Thanks, Scott! We are pretty happy with how the forward cabin turned out! 🙌
There is a lot of work and you are doing excellent. One Life (your house) are receiving the best of your effort . The teamwork you made are impressive and that is the reason that the goal you propose are getting closer. Many blessings.
Hi Angel, thank you so much for your kind words and blessings!
Great job on the V-berth. I can imagine how nice it will look when finished.
Hi Rauf! Thank you! We are pretty happy with how it turned out!
Please post more!
Hi Tom! We are hoping to start getting videos out consistently soon!
Hey guys! I am really enjoying this series of boat repair (probably because i am the one who gets to watch, not the one working😂) But i am sure you guys are ready for life to move on. Lots a Love!
Thank you! Ha yeah the boat work definitely was challenging at times! Glad you are enjoying the videos though! Happy to hear that
Your commitment is impressive ... continue to be so brave
Thanks Laurie! 💙⛵
I love this channel.. They keep it real. Good times or bad...
Thank you! 💙
I did a simular job , used epoxy and then hot melt glue gun . The hot melt is instant and allows epoxy to cure, no bracing required
Hey Chris, good to know about the hot glue gun. We will keep that in mind for the next project!
Hi sailors! Hard work... but BIG sucsess for you! Good luck for the next way
Thanks for the good vibes! 💙
@@SailingOneLife 💟
Gary When you are fiberglassing stagger your plys overlap make each ply a little bigger. You will have a stronger piece and find the sanding is going to be a lot easier .. Good job !!
Thanks for the tip, Judith!
Hi guys!! Forward bunk lookin good!! Close to splash day its on the horizon!! Fair weather ya all take care
Thank you! We are super happy with how it turned out.
Great job you guys. Thank you for the content. Cheers from So Cal.
Thank you! 💙
Nice work all your efforts are starting to show. Forward cabin looks clean and classy.
Thanks, Ron! We are really happy with the result. The white really brightens things up!
Of all the sailing cruise shows I watch (One Life, Delos, Calico, Uma, Ruby Rose, Parley, Freedom, etc...) Brooke is the greatest (and sexiest) of all sailor women and Gary is third after Brian and Colin (if we count cats) of sailor men. Love your channel.
Aw Hans, thank you so much. That is so nice of you to say. 💙
Looking good you two.
Thanks, Jack!
Looks great! The Bimini looks great too. You guys need to take a break, Brook looks so tired. Got to stay healthy, Don't forget to eat and stay hydrated both you guys.
Thank you, Brenda! Yeah it was challenging to find a good balance between boat work, editing and down time but I think we managed okay!
As for gluing against gravity who not use epoxy at the ends and middle but use a heat glue gun to put in a couple of strips across it to hold it whilst the epoxy goes off
Good idea! We will keep this in mind for our future projects!
Awesome job on project-management! The bulkhead looks sturdy and the V-berth looks really nice. I've used Polywall Utility Panel on my dodger top. It's great stuff. Does not fade. It does attract mold in the shaded areas. Inside should be fine though! Thank you for sharing your boat projects! 😀
Thank you! Interesting to hear you have also used polywall! Good to know it is holding up despite it attracting mold.
👍
How are you guys!!! Been missing your video's. Hope all is going well.
Hi Janeam! Thanks for the note! We have been a bit busy but hoping to get a new video out real soon! 💙
Hiva Oa is waiting for you. The rewards will be great. Soon Moorea.
Woohoo! Can't wait!! 💙
Boats looking good will be Great once completed. Loads of hours and lots of sweat and lack of sleep.. The END is NEAR !!!!
Thanks, Jonathan! We are quite happy with the way it turned out!
How many fishing rods do 2 people need , my local fishing tackle shop doesn't have as many rods as you two have 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I keep telling Gary it's absurd. But I do appreciate all the fish we catch!
@@SailingOneLife your going to need another Yacht just to keep all your fishing gear in lol
😂
Can someone with a better memory than me remind me if there's been any discussion in the earlier videos about what the plan is once the boat's back in the water? Other than, "Pacific crossing" that is. Kinda curious to know about some planning.
Also, great work on the boat you too! Thanks for including all the nitty gritty. It has taught me that boat ownership is not for me!
Hi Dave, yes crossing the Pacific to French Polynesia more specifically the Marquesas. What sort of planning are you curious about? We will be showing a lot of our planning and preparation for the crossing itself in future episodes.
@@SailingOneLife
I was mainly asking to make sure I hadn't missed anything....basically being lazy and not going back and scouring earlier episodes.
I'm just curious mainly about the navigation stuff, although any considerations are fun to hear about.
thx!
@@davewestner nope, you haven't missed anything! We will talk about our plans for routing etc in a future video!
@@SailingOneLife awesome, thanks a lot! Cheers!
St Peter: How did you get here so quickly?
Gary: I vaguely remember asking my wife to sand the bottom of the boat again and the next thing I know, I'm laying on the floor with a putty knife through my neck
St Peter: Ahhh, yes. There's a special section for men like you, but it's much warmer than here...
That's pretty much how I think it would go for me at least. Thank heaven you two work so well together and the results speak for themselves. It all looks fantastic. I hope it's holding up well now. Really appreciate all the hard work and effort.
Hi Don! Hahaha, thank you. We certainly have our moments like everyone else but overall we work well together!
Keep the grind going. Picture the crossing?
Thank you, Ray! 🙌⛵
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Big love brother!
Get out of the apartment , get away from that comfort zone . steady plotting brings prosperity. Yo Jamie on parlay is in your favorite fishing spot . Mahi-mahi .
Yes you are right, no more comfort zone!
You're doing a great job Gary. Looking back on the cabin refit now, would you have bought the marine plywood in 4x8 sheets and glued the plastic laminate on a good majority of it first? Or just do it bit by bit again?
A lot of the plastic laminate went directly over the fiberglass hull surfaces. But for the boards, since each one had to be sanded and trimmed so many times to get a good fit, I think it would have been difficult to have the laminate glued on first. Putting it on last also kept it protected from getting scuffed and scratched throughout the process. Pretty happy with how it turned out, and it seems to be holding up quite well. 👍
That looks so good guys! Well done! Was that material a fiber reinforced plastic? It looked a bit more flexible than typical FRP panels.
Hey Larry, thank you! We are really happy with how it turned out. The white panels are just reinforced plastic, called Plas-tex.

In general, how accommodating are boat yards with you guys living on your boat while its parked? Is it allowed? Common? Where you two being discrete about it?
Each yard has its own rules on living aboard. In Grenada, we weren't allowed to live on the boat while in the yard. In Mexico, they charged something like $50 extra/month to live on the hard.
@@SailingOneLife thanks for the response!
in my mind gluing to a hull is quit dumb, but what do i know.
Guess we will find out!
@@SailingOneLife you could glass stripes of wood and then put something to cover , 1st for isolation if need but mostly for inspection of the hull.
The old veneer panels were epoxied to the hull. Not much to inspect behind them, it's just solid 1" thick fiberglass. The liquid nails we used is not permanent or that strong, the panels could easily be peeled off and then rebonded if needed
Hi Brooke - where did you find your fun blue sailboat coffee mug?
Hi Suzanne! I got it in Annapolis, MD at Quirk n Bach Pottery Shop!
Do you guys know of any plant pots made specifically for sailing?
Hi David! You know, we do not. There should be something on the market suited for sailing conditions!
Save the footage and get to videos as you can. Lots of time to catch up later.
Yep, exactly! That's what we've been doing! First priority was getting One Life back in the water.
Where are you guys?
We are video hungry.😊
Glad you are enjoying our videos! It will be awhile before our next one comes out. Be patient! 💙
For holding things in place as the glue dries I have seen people use hot glue gun.
A couple people recommended this to us! We will have to try it for our next project!
Did you paint inside the chain locker?
Hi Em! Yep, we do. You will see it in our next video.
I'm not saying who, but someone on the boat has a fishing rod fetish of some sort 😁
Ha, someone certain does. 🎣🐟
Looks good however warning that white stuff gets dirty quick. We put that in our head it's always dirty
Hey Joan, thank you! Good to know it holds dirt. We are hoping that it is easy to clean though!
Replacing a bulkhead is serious business - are you confident the fixing is structurally competent?
Hi Tazio! Yes, we agree replacing a bulkhead is definitely nothing to mess around with. We believe the new bulkhead is as strong as or stronger than the original!
Brooke has quite a pronounced vocal fry.
What happened to you guys
Hey Blair! We will be releasing videos real soon. Editing had to take a back seat while we finished getting One Life out back together!
