Hi Arthur! Thank you! We appreciate all the good vibes!
Great video guys. Hope you have a great passage.
Thanks, Tracy! Glad you enjoyed it!
You two work so hard ! Great to be young and have that energy. I remember feeling that way.
Thank you! Team work! 💪
That's fantastic.
So you are planning the Pacific crossing
I am looking forward in your adventure.
You have done so much refit to One Life she's a new home once again Cheers

Thanks, Jonathan! We are looking forward to sharing our journey across the Pacific Ocean with you! Really appreciate all the good vibes you always send our way! Cheers~
I loved your videos and can't get enough of em.Looking forward to your next video and the rest of your journey.Congrats on splash day......
Thank you very much! It makes us happy to know people are enjoying them!
New Subscriber, I have been cruising slow for 13 years. Presently in Bali Indonesia having spent the Covid years in Australia. It was very cool to see your companionship thru the refit. A cruising teem is truly the best and you all shine
Hi Kim! Thank you for noticing! Team work makes the dream work. As you know, cruising can be tough stuff. Hope to cross paths with you on the water one day. Indonesia is on our bucket list.
Hi guys! What a difference from episode 11 when you were mailing autopilot components back to Florida. You have learned so much along the way. Seen and done so much! wow. Just Wow.
Wow, good point! We didn't even think about that! Thanks for coming along with us!
20:44 Good idea ! That it a way to solve my exhaust problem. Thanks for the insperation 😉
The cable ties? Awesome, glad we could help!
I'm sooo Happy for Both of you! You took the time to fix things right! Now back to your Home on the water!!! Awesome and well deserved!!!
Thank you, Stephen! It feels so good to be out of the yard and back to sailing! Looking forward to sharing this next chapter!
Good work guys glad you are finally getting back on the water, enjoy you deserve it!
Thank you! We are loving life back on the water! ⛵⛵
Hi guys! Wow awesome video and tons of hard work. Lmk where you are I'm in Papeete anchored for a week and would love to see you again. I'm waiting for parts!
Hey Craig! Thank you! What's your plan for cyclone season? Did you get long stay or are you making a run for it? Chances are pretty good that we will cross paths. We are moving pretty quickly. Would you mind shooting us an email with your whatsapp so we can stay in touch as we get closer? sailingonelife@gmail.com
Gary and Brooke, I've been watching your channel for awhile now and as a future cruiser I really appreciate how candid you are about boat life. I'm wondering if at some point you would be willing to do a video on costs of your refit? I loved the video you did a while back on the cost of cruising, I though it was the most comprehensive one I have seen like that. Thank you both!
Hi Dani! Happy to hear you really enjoyed our cost video. We are planning to do a cost refit episode in the coming weeks.
@@SailingOneLife Awesome! Can't wait to check it out! Cheers!
All your hard work has definitely paid off! Congrats on finishing all your projects!
We couldn't have done it without you guys cheering us on!! 💙💪
Hey Gary and Brooke,
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos and I’m gonna have to admit I went back to your very first videos when you obtain your boat and everything and I kind of binge watch not all but most of them I really enjoy you guys you guys guys are a lot of fun and entertaining You offer great descriptions everywhere you go and you just seem like all-around really good people. I’d love to have a beer or two with you guys sometime but I really wanted to tell you congratulations a huge congratulations on finishing all the work in Puerto Penasco, I know the area down there quite well as I lived in Phoenix for about 25 years and over that time we used to go camping on the beach over at the reef at least 20 times a year it’s so much fun down there. The food is awesome. The people are awesome but to see all the hard work that you guys did. Congratulations I’m really proud of you. You guys busted your butts and made it happen took longer than you expected, but hey, it is what it is. Looking forward to your new And upcoming videos in the future and who knows maybe someday our paths will cross again I’d love to have a couple beers with you guys and share some laughs and certainly some war stories, but I truly wish you all the best Fairwinds, and following seas in the future again, congratulations on all the hard work
Hi Steven! Wow, thank you so much! We really appreciate your kind words and support. It's a pretty cool thing to look back and see how far we've come as individuals, as a couple, as sailors and boat project DIYers. Thanks for coming along as we figure it all out! Hopefully one day our paths will cross and we can enjoy a sundowner and a couple stories together. We are really looking forward to sharing this next chapter with everyone. Cheers!
Great video today, I can't imagine all the work that goes into it. That (hot dog) looked amazing. Good luck on splash down....
That hot dog was so good! Thanks for the good vibes, Jack!
Wow! Great video. Lots of hard work paying off. Cant wait to see you splash! Thanks for sharing😃
Hi Lois! Thank you! We are so excited to be on the water again! See ya next time!
Hello Gary and Brooke,
We have been following you for about a year and a half now.
What amazing awesome fantabulous adventures! 🙂
My wife often asks, “hey, what’s happening with One Life?” then shortly after you post a new video 🙂
We are looking forwards to your new chapter, and super excited that you are headed our way! When you reach the city of sails on this side of the ocean, we would love to get you a coffee 😉
Hey there! Thank you so much for joining us on this journey! We are actually planning to spend cyclone season in New Zealand this year. We have a ton of miles between us but would love to catch you guys for a coffee! Stay in touch or shoot us an email with your contact info! sailingonelife@gmail.com
I have enjoyed watching the progress you have made over the last ten+ videos from within the boat yard. It’s crazy to think about all the work required to live the life you two have chosen. Hopefully the Pacific has treated you well so far and the hard work has been worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears that fell on the dry Mexican soil.
Thanks for taking us along for the journey!
Thank you so much! We are happy to hear you have enjoyed the boatyard video series. This lifestyle definitely is not easy at times but it is worth overcoming the challenges we are faced with. One Life is sitting pretty on the water now and we look forward to sharing our upcoming videos with you!
That was one big chapter and all well worth the effort I'm sure to set you up for the next big chapter of the Pacific crossing and all the new adventures that will bring. The aches and stresses of the boat yard work will soon evaporate and life will become really good again.
Thank you for coming along with us, Ian! This was certainly a rough chapter for us but every struggle was worth it!
Great job turning regular projects into an interesting collage of work without making it boring. Actually interesting. Thanks for letting us look over your shoulders.
Thanks, Jerry! We really appreciate it! Editing boat work is not our favorite, we much prefer sailing and adventuring but did our best to keep the pace moving with the boatyard vids!
Brooke & Gary: Best on the launch and a perfect passage West. The Hot Dogs looked delicious!
Thank you for the well wishes, David! The hot dogs were SO good. Really craving one right now!
I've been following your journey since day one. Excited to see you splashing on time. Thanks for sharing and educating us in the process. I'm still 2.5 years in search of my very own.
Hey Jerry! Thanks for coming along on this journey with us. Happy to hear you are enjoying our channel. Good luck in your search, hope to cross paths with you on the water one day!
You guys have done an awesome job you should be proud
Thank you, Kent! We are pretty happy with how everything turned out. One Life seems to be happy with all the repairs and upgrades, too!
5:29 A wonderful working position! I feel your pain, Gary. Looks like me trying to get to the rear sparkplugs on my minivan 🥲
Great job guys
My back and neck are still not right from all that! 🤕
I do not own a boat but love To watch these videos. I could never bring myself to do all that working upkeep. I admire the dedication he does to keep his boat running.
One Life is fortunate to have Gary!
Gary and Brooke, I am so excited for you both. You've worked really hard to get everything done. Exciting times ahead! Be amazing to see you both in New Zealand. I'm catching up with family and friends shortly in NZ, so I will be sure to mention you both, and if you get stuck or need a place to crash, I'm sure someone I know will help out. Di from Queensland, Australia. :)
Hi Di! Thank you so much! It has been a long haul for sure but we are so happy to be back on the water. We hope you enjoy your time in NZ. We will stay in touch as we get closer. Hope you are having a great weekend!
@SailingOneLife Hello Gary and Brooke, I'm now in NZ for a few days, though I'm wishing it was longer. Dad said you should avoid Napier and Gisborne areas as there's been severe flooding and bridges are down. It's going to take time to repair. Apparently, parts of the Coromandel Peninsula have been flooded, too.
Thanks for the heads-up, Di! Really appreciate the insight. Hope you have a wonderful time with your family!
Two smaller boats which were both either in Fiji and ready to go to New Zealand, (one might have had this happen on the way, one definitely had it happen before she left ) ended up with damaged engines because of salt damage from salt water and the exhaust pipe problems. One , the gal, lost her engine completely and had to replace it. Its a real problem area and if your engine can't be run because of that loss of the exhaust it can be really hard to keep the salt water out of the engine. So, replacing it BEFORE it craps out is a TERRIFIC idea ! WOW, that rudder job really LOOKED good, I'm really surprised it is fighting you.
Ugh, we hate to hear about boats having trouble. The South Pacific is a super tough place to source parts and do repairs. Hopefully they can get everything sorted and get back on the water again real soon! Thank you for all the good vibes and support!
I am so impressed. Amazing to watch you guys. Well done!
Hi Louisa! Thank you! 💙
That was a very professional looking repair.
I know y'all were ready to get out of there. That was one epic journey, but all the hard work is going to pay dividends. I appreciate the workmanship put into the boat. As you know, your life depends on it being right. Can't wait to see the shakedown runs.
We were so READY! Phew, glad that is over! You are exactly right, our life depends on our systems being in good shape. Thanks for noticing all the energy put into our floating home!
Thanks so much for sharing this video. I look forward to you next candid look at boat life. Thanks again for not click baiting us, or for making your channel about T&A. You are my favorite sailing channel by far and for the reasons I just mentioned.
Hey Scott! We really appreciate this comment. We always try to keep it real and want our viewers to come along for the journey rather than a quick bikini pic.
No doubt. I don't know which is worse, but I also hate a channel saying "our sail ripped in the middle of our Atlantic crossing, " and it turns out to be a torn loop easily fixed. You don't need click bait if you have a true channel.
Thanks, Scott!
You guys are fantastic! I love your way of being. I understand, work, work, but we still have to live and feel good with friends over a beer or make our tummies happy with a super sausage garnished with everything. What can I say, you two are wonderful together. I wish you to always be like this and to love each other beyond all the oceans you will cross for ever and ever!
Thank you! We really appreciate it! It was hard finding a good balance in the boatyard between working, editing and taking time for ourselves but it all worked out in the end. We are so thankful to be back on the water again and we look forward to sharing this next chapter with everyone!
Hey everything is looking great wish I was headed across the pacific with yall😊
Hi Jack! Thank you!! ⛵💙
@@SailingOneLife be safe and wnjoy
So many Mexi hot dog carts here in Los Angeles but they offer all the same version which is bacon wrapped, grilled onions, and grilled bell peppers. If you ever make it back here we’ll enjoy one together, or take you to Pinks Hot Dogs instead…or both! No mas “No Mas Clavos”!!! Cheers and hugs, 🍻🤗🍻🤗🍻🤗
We are definitely going to have to check those hot dog carts out when we visit! Rumor is NZ to US flights are best with stopover in LA (just sayin') 💙💙🙌🙌 Hugs to you and Laurie
Congrats ya all!! Awesome job!! Cant wait for splash day and beyond!! Fair winds and seas! Take care!!
Thanks for coming along with us! So many adventures in our future! Cheers!
@@SailingOneLife yep and cant wait to see em!!
Wow! Hard boat work! You are great !
Thank you so much! Can't believe we got it all done! 💪
Ah. The joys of Boat projects. Incredible work you did. ❤❤
Thanks, amigo! Hope you are doing well!! 💙💙
Well all right! Time to enjoy your hard work, can’t wait for your new adventures! It would make sense to have a carbon monoxide alarm detector on your boat. Namaste
Thank you! So excited to share this next adventure with everyone!
What a grind that has been. Happy you are done and ready to hit the high seas. Good to see you both happy and healthy. Ed
Phew, we survived! Thanks for always following along and supporting us out here, Ed! Hope all is well with you and you are enjoying your new home!
Try add a chunk of hose over the dead stop on the quadrant. A little shock absorber when you hit the hard over. Lessens the impact shock if you have swung it hard. And easy to replace. Great job you are doing loving an old boat. Soon you will have touched every square inch, inside and out. Lotta love.
Thanks for the advice! Yep, One Life is an oldie but she takes good care of us as long as we take good care of her! 💙💙
The "old tiller arm" set-up gave so much S*** !!! The thought put into your [Gary] neat work on this new system *MUST surely solve the problem*
Hey Mark, thanks! We certainly hope this one holds up!
Damn guy's, things still throwing you through the ringer. Great to see everything coming together. You guys definitely need a break. Ooh yummy and well deserved. Fantastic, ready to splash. Love the vlog :)
Thank you! All the hard work was worth it! See ya next week for the splash video!
“Good things in Life take a long time” … So happy for the two of you, can’t wait for the Sailing adventures! Cheers!
Thank you, Donald! That is so true! This next chapter is bound to be a good one!
Thanks so much for sharing this with myself. It has always been a dream of mine to accomplish what you are doing. You seem to gel together so well...my wish for both of you is safe travels and by doing that you are helping me keep my dream alive!!!!
Thanks, Robert! Continue to chase your dream! We will be rooting for you!
Congrats.. You are already winners. Good luck and blessings. My admiration for both.
Thank you so much, Angel! Really appreciate all your support!
It's so weird being out of sync with real time... I'm feeling super excited for you both, but I know you've already made the passage, no worries though, I'll just use that excitement knowing we're all going to get to see you in the water and crossing the Pacific VERY soon... I imagine you've bumped into Parlay since the crossing, I was really impressed by their new inflatable bumpers, deflated they all fit in one bag for storage, a huge space saver, although you've already made the passage, so space probably isn't as crucial as it was for the passage, but who owns a boat and doesn't always need more space... I'm thinking it would be a game changer for Bill & Grace before they cross next season... The Parlay crew was using a hand pump and filling them with air just as fast or faster than their compressor...
Hey Bruce! Yeah it's tough for us to film, edit, do boat work, sail etc. and stay up to date with real time! We appreciate your patience and we are super excited to share our upcoming videos with you! Parlay is ahead of us (they are much faster!) but we hope to catch up and have some fun with them in Tahiti!
Wow, guys. You are doing great. We can see the work is hard but it isn't easy to get a true sense of how fiberglass dust feels in your shorts for three months. It ain't easy, but massive respect to you both for pulling through. Big adventures ahead!
Hi Charlie! Thank you! Ha yeah it seems we can't get rid of the stuff (fiberglass dust)! We are still finding it in places! Poor Gary definitely had some long itchy days but we both agree that every challenge was worth it!
Lots of hard work…nice job and interesting podcasts. Excited for “splash day” and seeing you guys back out on the water!!
Hi Christina! Thank you! We are so ready to be editing footage where we are on the water again! See ya for the splash!
OK, Randy here, retired Navy, spent time in Puget Sound on my Catalina 30. There's a great boat yard in Port Townsend WA where I spent several months working on my Catalina on the dry. Your videos bring back good memories. I started over on your first episode and was at #28 but, saw this one.......had to watch now. What a life you now have ! Great ! I can only say Wow !
Hey Randy! Our days in the boat yard were a bit daunting at times but so glad we were able to power through and get across the Pacific. It's been an awesome journey so far. Full of ups and downs!
Thanks for sharing your refit. I've been in that phase for my boat and got encouragement from your vid to carry on and push through my own refit. Bravo guys! Splash!
So happy to hear you are motivated to finish your refit! It certainly is extremely tough at times. Sending good vibes as you push through! You've got this! 💪⛵
@@SailingOneLife ❤
Great work you all. A lot accomplished in 3 months. Congratulations!!
Thanks, Steve! Really appreciate that! It is pretty cool how it all came together!
Awesome! Cant wait to see you in the water! The boat projects all look great and well executed!
Thank you so much! So looking forward to sharing our sailing and exploring videos again!
I love watching the skill and care you put in to repairs. Some channels have such a slop-dash approach it drives me crazy. Sailing an ocean requires good repairs and secure mountings, etc. you two are great, I’ve been bingeing all the old episodes as well.
Hey Joel! Thank you for such a nice comment. We agree, the ocean is nothing to mess around with especially on such a massive passage across the Pacific. Glad you are enjoying our channel!
Good job guys. Be safe. Keep the videos coming. So enjoyable.
Hey John! Thank you! Happy to hear you are enjoying our channel!
Great job guys! You did a fantastic job. Glad to see you did not cut corners.
Thanks, Peter! Really appreciate that!
Sticktoitiveness ! ! ! Great job with the rudder and steering stuff. Creative solutions. Yea ! ! !
Thank you, Gene! Stick-to-itiveness 100%!!
You are a great couple and I wish you a good time in the South Pacific
Thank you very much! 💜⛵
Yay!!! I can't wait to see what comes next!
Thanks, Laura! We are so excited to share this next part of our journey with you!
🎉 congratulations 🎉 time to cross that pond baby!!!
Yesssss!!! Can't wait to share it with you! ⛵🙌
Looking forward to Splash ... followed by safe sailing
Hi Laurie! Thank you!💙⛵💦💧
Whew! What a several months project this has been! Congratulations and sweet sailing ahead!
Thank you! Ha yeah, seemed like the boat projects were dragging on forever!
Project after project I take my hat off to you!
Thanks, Michael! Really appreciate it!
This was very informative. I had no idea how much work it takes to operate a sail boat.
Hi there :) Glad you found it informative! Lots of work but worth the effort!
❤ YOU TWO WORK TOGETHER SO NICELY !! I BET THERE IS 'TIMES OF FRUSTRATION", BUT YOU TWO ARE FUN TO WATCH,AND LEARN FROM.THANK YOU FOR SHARRING !!
Hey Chris, thank you! There are certainly frustrating times but the challenges are worth it. 💙
Bravo on the autopilot install! It is amazing what you have completed in three months.
Thank you, Tim! 🙌⛵
Congrats guys! I don’t leave many message, but I’ve been watching for awhile. And after you hauled out, the task list was so large that it even had me worried. But you did it!! Fair Winds!!
Phew! Sometimes we surprise ourselves! We were quite worried at the beginning as well. A lot to get done in a few months but we managed to pull it off! Thank you for coming along with us on this journey. We hope you enjoy the next chapter!
I think you have done a magnificent job...
Thank you, Colin! Really appreciate it!
Great yard life snapshot! Miss your faces! 🤙🏼⛵️🍻
Thanks, Doug! Hope you are doing great! When are you heading back to the boat? Keep an eye out for our friends Chris and Kell on Drifter. They will be around the yard in Sept/Oct
Great job Captain Brooke(& chief engineer Gary 😏) ! It's good to see One Life back in the wet.
Thanks, Mark! So good to be back on the water!
Fire would be a secondary issue. Carbon monoxide will get you and you wont even realize it. Thanks for the tip on Vetus hoses. I'll get some for my next project.
Yes, especially with the exhaust hoses running underneath our bunk. We do have a CO monitor inside the boat and check it regularly. The Vetus hose is excellent, although not cheap by any means. I think the 3" hose was around $25/ft.
You two are amazing with your repair skills. I didn’t realize until this video your home port was Merritt Island, I have a boat in Melbourne.
Hey Bob! Ah, thank you! So cool that you have a boat in Melbourne! Maybe when we come back for our next visit home we can grab a beer together!
So excited to see what the next chapter in your adventure has in store! Cheers and hope to see ya soon 🍻
Thank you! We are really looking forward to sharing this next journey with everyone! Cheers~ 🍻
I’m so happy for you two! So much work. Such an amazing partnership and those Sonoran hotdogs looked great!
Bon voyage.
Thank you so much, Tim! We are really looking forward to sharing our sailing adventures again! Hope you are having a good weekend!
You guys are wonderful to watch and follow!
Thanks for coming along with us on this journey, Dr. Hubbard!
lmao, Harbor Freight Zip Ties! A page right outta David Shih Sails! 😂😂
Everyone loves a cheap find at Harbor Freight!
@@SailingOneLife quit replying and get ur a$$es sailing ⛵️!!!! 🤣
I could see the excitement in your eyes and hear it in your voices. It must be such a relief to finally get to the point of splashing. I'll bet that the results of alll the refits, repairs and updates won't have sunk in yet. Once you're floating and any minor issues taken care of you'll finally sit backand go "WHOA" look what we did.!!! Then the first time you set sail it will be thrilling.
Hi Terrance! Thank you! It has certainly been a long haul but the reward is definitely worth the challenges along the way. Looking forward to sharing our splash and sailing videos with you!
Spare PIN for the Tiller ? Looks like something that could wear quickly ? Wow, that music at 29:06 Was great party MUSIC and you deserved a great burger with friends ! God, I love that boat yard. I'd love to find a boat there that needs work and would be mine. 36 footer I think. Crazy thing is I"ve SEEN MANY WORST ROUGHER REFITS. This one was easy with a few surprises. That said, if your new autopilot works the first time that will be a new one ! Bon Voyage Guys ! Great to watch this, thankyou.
Cabrales Boatyard is one of the best! The community there is top notch and management knows what sailors need. Great for DIY but not great for hiring jobs out. There are actually a few boats for sale in the yard there. If your interested send us an email (sailingonelife@gmail.com) and we can provide you with contact info. Cheers~
Great job guys looks hot there sent you some Beer money enjoyed the video from Vancouver 🇨🇦
Hey Dave! ah wow, thank you! That is so nice of you! We will certainly enjoy the beers!
Looks like all the hard work is coming to an end. Now comes the fun work of crossing the Pacific! Great job on the boat and the show.
Hey Craig! Thanks! Really looking forward to sharing our Pacific adventures!
Actually, Boat work I think is the best contact because you take something old, dirty nasty and you’re turning into something new and beautiful. You guys did a great job.
Hi Eddie! Thank you, we really appreciate this! You are right, it is very cool to see the transformation! But after three months, we were exhausted and a bit cranky LOL and ready to get back to sailing!
Hey guys, great video. I like your approach to boat / home maintenance projects, very strategic. Wow, ya’ll have done it all. Time to splash. Congratulations 👏🏻🎉🥂cheers and a sip of Drift Creek to you 👍. Outstanding…
Thanks, Trent! We really appreciate all the support and positivity you continually send our way! Soon you will see us sipping Drift Creek in the South Pacific islands! Looking forward to seeing more pics of the car show! Cheers!
I've watched you from afar as you have worked your butts of f for so many years. Congratulations on splashing. I look forward to watching you sail to newfound places. Again, congratulations!
Hi Lee! Thank you for following along and supporting us on this journey! We are looking forward to sharing this next part of our adventure with you! Cheers!
It was very interesting for me to watch your work and the progress along those 3 months. Thanks for sharing, Richard
Hi Richard! Thank you for coming along with us! It was certainly a lot of work but definitely worth every struggle. Looking forward to sharing this next chapter with you!
I am so glad you guys are back and ready for the big splash and sailing in the Pacific ocean. May Lord be with you two and protect you and your boat.
Thanks, Dr. Fara! We are so excited to share this next big adventure with everyone!
Now we all get to see if all your hard work has paid off or not
Yes, you sure do! Looking forward to having you along for this next chapter!
Congrats on all the hard work you guys have done. I just found your channel and binge watched your refit in Mexico. I am on a five year plan to get my own sailboat and retire early so I too can sail the world. Watching episodes like these keeps me in check as to what to expect. Good luck on the splash and I'll be waiting for the next episode. New subscriber here as well.

Grace looks great. 😊😊😊
Grace is such a strong, beautiful person!! Proud to call her our friend!
Here in eastern Oklahoma discount tire it’s free if they can fix your tire pretty cool
That's great! Where we lived in Florida, the tire shop would say it can't be fixed or it is unsafe and try to get you to buy new ones!
I see you still have the Honda element. Hope it treating you guys well!
Hey Sean! We loved the Element! You'll see in our next video that we sell it! Would have loved to keep it but it was time to get back to sailing!
Too funny. Great to see you guys getting it all done.
Even though we know you are on the other side of the Pacific.
Saw a bit of Grace too.
