here's the thing, after looking through your past videos you seem to be the fancy boy type: mercedes, porsche, bmw, mclaren, etc. and while i understand the urge to sell and use the money for builds is strong, i feel like you'd be doing a disservice to yourself by doing so. what's the point of getting rid of it right now when you're just barely dipping your toe in the water? if you truly want to understand something and why people LOVE them (not just car brands but things in general) shouldn't you just throw caution to the wind and just jump into the deep end of the pool? when it comes to the car itself i think you'd enjoy it, you CAN get massive performance out of them along with practicality and workhorse reliability. jdm tend to be cars you don't need to fuss over, they just function. and if there's ever a moment where you're like "ugh i don't want to be recognized or bothered by people in my blue mercedes", you can drive your honda. also you don't have to do all those mods that guy suggested at the honda meetup. i'd say just switch in a stock vtec engine and drive the heck out of it.
Integras are beautiful. I have a 98 spec jdm type r import and i am NEVER going to sell it. Every time i hear someone saying they sold theirs, it always follows with "i regret it"
I enjoyed this video man. I also don't like driving fast at times because you never know what happens and plus cops are scary haha. Also older Honda motors do consume a bit more oil than your average car but don't let that discourage you, these things are tanks. If you do plan on adding more power I definitely recommend a good set of headers, intake and intake manifold and a simple spark plug and distributor change will show noticeable improvements to the cars power. Also with Hondas the power is all in the flow of the head. The better they flow the more power. Also I recommend replacing your control arms or at least changing the bushings. The difference after replacing them is massive since the old rubber bushings go bad pretty fast. Keep it up!
I agree he needs time with it...he's young so things might be confusing at first. I still can't believe that when my parents got me an EJ8 Civic Coupe many years ago I was sceptical about it being a coupe and not a sedan....now the Coupes cost more and are highly sought after. I'm so glad I kept mine since 2006. I wouldn't want to go shopping for one now($) plus it my first car ever and I still have it.💙🔰🏎️👍🏾🇺🇸
I think you have to fall in love with a car by fixing it up, I bought my integra for 1,200 because the owner before got into a small crash with another car hitting the bumper and busting the transmission so I repaired the transmission with my dad and found problems along the way and learned more about the car itself and how to take it apart and the layout, I’m still learning about the car and I need to fix the ac and buy the bottom part of the bumper and my head gasket cause it’s leaking oil quite frequently, but it’s a fun car and I fell in love with it while working on it and the first day I got it to start and drive it now is the best feeling, but it’s an amazing first car and I would love to buy another or more parts
I have been born into Honda, so my opinion is definitely subjective. BUT, the car you have now will last through and through with little to no issues. Anyone I've know that's had an Integra or Civic from the 90s would tell you that it was one of the best cars they bought. Simply because its fun, cheap, and reliable, and doesn't come with a bunch of complicated technology. Doesn't have to be super fast to be super fun. If it had a B16/B18 VTEC engine in it, it'd probably be more of a blast to drive. But, having the B20 engine is a great alternative. It's DOHC power without the complications of VTEC. If you're content on selling, that's totally fine. But, don't blame us for getitng sellers remorse, lol. Enjoy it while you've got it!!!!
I mean, if your going to paint something, have it prep for paint, I do not know if you sanded it but it looks like it since the paint just comes off. I personally don't like the mugen lips, should've done the oem type r lip or replica of the type r. Other than that, keep the teggy, it'll be worth your time 🙏
I think Honda and Subaru are both decent starter platforms and Honda might have more community backing, but I think subarus come more fun to begin with with the low center of gravity and the way they set up awd, if they have turbo on them they can get really fun but also way too expensive way to fast
@randompep.491 not really much of an issue anymore btw, idk if you do ur research but the fa series is better for longevity, besides, it only happens around 100k on the ejs.
I know it's just a trial run for you to 'fall in love' with the car, but it really doesn't need much to make the car enjoyable and a keeper. PROPER suspension, wheels/tires and brakes is all it really needs. After that, it's just maintenance to keep it happy. You don't even have to drive fast, but with those mods alone, it'll treat you very good on the back roads and track days if you choose to go.
dont do anything that kid said to do! Drive it and save up for a swap then swap a b18c1 or c5 in it and boost it! or k swap but b series swap w/vtec is alot of fun!
at the same time though, you haven't had the car for a long time at all, so idk why you don't just give it more time. Also, it's hard to really appreciate Honda's till you've been in one that has either VTEC or turbo.
just get a fit bro, superior chassis and since youre in canada you can actually get the good engine instead of the asthmatic 80hp ones back in the uk lmao
you need a b18c swap. You need to dump 20k into it to love it. Or buy a newer civic. 8th gen is a good plateform. 90s, you have to prepare for thread chasers and maybe tap & dyes. Best to get a bone stock car to start with & do everything right.
I would say get rid of it, atleast sell it to a friend you know you would take care of it. That way you’ll still see it around. Went through a couple of videos, seems like you have an affinity or preference for European cars. I don’t think you’ll ever love this thing, especially since it’s the base trim. Needs a lot of work and money into the engine, body etc. You can use that money to manual swap the Mercedes instead. If this was a gsr or type r it’d be a different story, this one is just kinda disposable. Just my two cents
When I first got my integra I checked my oil to a empty dipstick too….. I think when there warm oil sits in the head or something I can’t ever get a reading on that stick unless car is cold and the reading is perfect
Yonaka exhaust end up sounding like shit I know from personal experience I suggest u running a vibrant muffler best sounding in my opinion if you want to enjoy a Honda go ls vtec, b16/gsr trans for a fun peppy setup fbo and tuned with Hondata
I would say its probably because you bought a polypropylene lip, not a polyurethane. Polypropylene is terrible to paint over because of the oil in it and it won't stick. Always go for polyurethane if you can.
Idk how you found no oil on the dip stick, had the car run like a champ with low oil, and think Mercedes would be more reliable with no oil 😅 welcome to the good life
Bro i don´t want to be that guy... but calling yourself a car youtuber and never working on your own car, leaving it to a mechanic to cut some bolts for you. Not even wanting to drive it. Thats kinda meehhhh :P

@ ohhhh i see. well its on you now. Imo honda's/acura's are really reliable and fun to drive around. No its not a luxury car but it can take a lot before it breaks (normally 😭) and that's the beauty of it. Do what you think is the best choice.
It's a Honda oil is optional
gas works just fine
Bro... passion is a Mercedes,
Better drive and EV 😁
Thought he would have been like dang! Oil optional ehhh. Man it'll last forever if you just check on things bro.

Adhesion promoter before primer usually helps when painting plastic parts, as well as cleaning the plastic with alcohol

when painting plastic, you have to sand it first, then use adhesion promoter, then primer and paint. i dont think it was the primers fault

The paint is chipping because you need to add a plastic adhesive spray to be able to paint those eBay plastic lips and things 👍🏽
dont you put clear coat after you paint it, not before? thats what i was told, my paint sticks that way.
To clear off headlights just use WD-40

You leave the lip out in the sun? Couse that can do stuff like that.
