Nino, you beautiful bastard, this is the most amazing episode ever on your channel, all hands down. I absolutely love the new production style, which is informative and engaging. Also, the old Bertha coming back to life brings memories of the episode of Top Gear when they try to kill a Toyota pickup truck and no matter what they tried it was coming back to life every single time. It's a great statement to Toyota engineers, especially regarding the quality of their builds. One last thing it looks like this car has been fitted with an LPG installation, suggested by an inlet near the fuel flap, but I've seen no connections or accessories related to LPG installation inside the engine bay.
Haha I appreciate that mate. I put a lot of effort into upping the production value and I'm glad it hasn't gone unnoticed! The car has definitely had LPG installed in the past, but it has all been removed at some point
Indeed! I've got myself a 2004 V6 camry with only 65k miles and half a dozen of issues totally caused by neglect and lazy mechanics. Parts are cheap even considering I'm not in the US and the thing is a total tank
Yeah, it's a shame some people have that attitude. It's also what makes bringing these cars back to life so rewarding - they deserve better than they've had!
Nino mate what are you thinking . Only ever pay scrap value. Your saving grace is of course your humility and the fact that you will become a you tube millionaire. You are a natural . Get those videos out . Actually I’ve just looked at what they are fetching at that age . You did well , shows how much I know .
Best car video I've seen recently! You're so relatable, please please please don't start rebuilding supercars when you're big time! Keep fixing up stuff like this! It's sooooo much more enjoyable to watch. 😁
The Toyota 1uz and 2uz are certainly among the most reliable engines ever made!! The STALE fuel and sitting so Long will account for the rough running just needs fresh fuel and a Good run!! Replace the old timing belt it would be FOOLISH not too!! I would surprised if could not for at least $5000bpds!
The best model of Landcruiser ever built. I had a 97 Landcruiser Colorado in the same colour, did 150k miles in it and it was utterly bulletproof. Design and build quality never surpassed.
Well done, mate! There's a reason why Land Cruisers have a fantastic reputation. And regarding the 'scabby' undercarriage, I have a three word suggestion for you: "dry ice blasting". I'm looking forward to the next installment.
I went to see this Land Cruiser a while back. The guy selling it was working at a yard where there’s heavy machinery. I was told there was an engine problem and the guy offered the car to me for £2000 but at the time I didn’t have the space for it so didn’t go for it… I’m glad that you rescued it, it was in good nick for its age. 👍🏽
Nino I’m so impressed, this was an exceptional video from start to finish mate. It sucks that we have to wait so long, for these videos, but the resolution from start to roadworthy in one hour completely justifies the lengthy times between videos. You are a natural, and you give so much of yourself to the viewer. Sitting here recovering from surgery, you’ve made my day mate. Peace and love from Australia 🇦🇺
Very kind of you to say that. The wait for the next video will be shorter. I spent a lot of time working out how to make the video in this style, so hopefully the next ones will be easier! Hope your recovery goes well!
Toyotas are tough cars. Bought a diesel 1998 Hilux from Copart, it started right up with no issues after being parked for God knows how long. Nice to see you again, Nino! Greetings from Brazil.
I have a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner, with 206,000 miles on it, but NO rust as I live on the West Coast of the USA, plus a Triumph Vitesse, which is fully restored, with 30k miles, I don't have a Carly, but I do have a FIXD, which is very similar. I have replaced my battery, alternator, injectors and intake air box, which was leaking, also my O2 sensors, I have cleaned my MAF sensor. I change the engine oil every 6,000 miles
Brilliant. I like how good Toyotas from the 90s and 00s are and how they really are fixable. Not taking anything away from your efforts, but I expect that the alternator might have come back, too. The fusable links (just fuses really, I think) are quite readily available on eBay etc and most Toyotas have standard sizes of between 80 and 140 A in the engine bay. Like that you soldered as a fix. I bet many have been replaced with bent nails or fence stables around the world. Great diagnostics on the cam and when that went, I think if folded the belt over and stopped the engine PDQ. That probably saved the engine. I think the engine deserves a new belt and idler as I expect that belt is damaged. You may also find the fan clutch doesn't work as it should and in warmer conditions the temps might rise. The Toyota manuals are superb and, easy to follow and I'd like to see what you do next with the LC. It might be expensive to fuel but it deserves to be cleaned and run in so it has a new life. A good clean and prep underneath and then some Lanoguard or other treatment would be good, too. I have a NEV Toyota project vehicle and should get a sweatshirt to wear when I working on it.
Really is a fantastic car. I'm instantly a Toyota convert. I very much plan to give it some proper love in future videos. New timing kit, underside treatment, fresh interior - the works!
27:36 When the Full Send works. That is the most enthusiastic engine ever. didn't even hesitate! A good sign from the Car Gods that this car wants to live. Love the Mrs' "Well, it's a grot bag, but well done." comment.
Nino, your channel has really evolved ever since you got the knit with a lift! Absolutely top notch content. Always love proving the missus' wrong when she's disappointed in a project of mine too.
A vehicle from the era where Toyota’s legendary reputation was justified. What a heartwarming episode, with your little lad involved in the moment at the end.
It's a petrol V8 vroom vroom !! I nearly spat my tea out, brilliant. Well done for resurrecting the landcruiser,Toyota vehicles of that era were quality and well built. Enjoy the ownership.
Looks like youve got yourself a new project hauler. Im hoping for a trailer rebuild next!!! We have a 2010 Toyota Sequoia(similar to the 200series). 216,000 miles. Absolutely love it. Congrats on another one!!!
Just to add Nino, you are up there with Rob and Chris at Salvage rebuilds U.K, Ben at Tasty Classics, Dean at saving salvage, Derek at Vice grip garage in the U.S. Turning your videos into tutorials is a brilliant idea for those with relatively little experience, to see how things work and, adding a bit of humour. Hope the baby is doing well.
My dad had a 2002 Landcruiser w/ 250k miles when it chunked 2 teeth off the timing belt. He drove it home over 4 hours on the highway and commented - yeah it kinda ran a little rough... Those engines are straight wonders
Inspiring work mete. To say you're not a mechanic at this point is ridiculous! I'd leave my car into ypu for repairs. Trying to find an honest mechanic around here is impossible, so I took the route of teaching myself to fix things. Your channel has helped a lot. Thanks man 👍
Greetings from Western Australia as an expat from the uk I feel knowledgeable on this haha. We ave thousands of these over here and they are worth a lot more than the uk market. They are considered a work horse here with longer commutes. Average price is between 18-25k AUD and that’s with 350k kms on them. Definitely a lot less corrosion underneath though… we don’t salt roads. Good work reviving this and getting a MOT for it!
Rescuing a landcruiser is a noble service to humanity! That's what I tell myself after another bill for my 80 series resto! I'd never toutch another car that has had LPG fitted though.
Watching at 26:51...is the car LPG converted...also Nino with his wife and kid next to the big bruisers...the best part of the video. A happy family is a wonderful thing. Stay blessed.
This new video production style with future you narrating along present you tinkering is great, also love the explanatory bits for how stuff works etc. Great job ! Also you lucky bas....., what a great car for only 2 grand, didn't even need to change the oil...unheard off.
As the boys over at Salvage Rebuilds UK say, "You've got to be in it to win it." Glad it worked out for you and that it got final approval from your wife.
Loved the video, Looking forward to the next part. That's definitely a car that deserves to get the underbody cleaned up and rust prevention applyed and not a nut and bolt restore but definitely replace the bad bits (2nd hand of course) amd get another 200k miles out of her, I have had cars well under 8 years old with more mot issues than that old girl
I bought a used 4.7ltr VXR with 89k on it when my family and I moved to Dubai. Excellent vehicle! Took it dune bashing, drove all over the UAE and Oman with it. My wife used it for mounting the kerb outside the kids school and crushing smaller vehicles in the car park of Spinneys supermarket. When we left, I sold it to a Yemeni fireman who drove it all the way to Sana’a. I dare say, 17 years later, it’s still going!
Brilliant video. Glad to see it saved. I got a Toyota out of hedge a few years back it had sat for 9 years. Jump pack and started right up. Ran it for a year or so and it was a proper cockroach car.
Really enjoying the additional layer of narratives to camera, it's like a interactive Haynes manual... Channel is going from strength to strength nino 🙏🏻
Brilliant job. Well done. My advice would be to take your time sorting out that underneath, but crucially to not look at it as a whole but just pick a small area, a small enough area that you reckon you could do a good job on with the wire brush (preferably on a grinder) and just be satisfied with doing that small area for that session. Then next time you get it up on the lift do another small section. Better to do small areas at a time but perfectly, instead of big areas not so perfectly. Have fun with it.
Welcome to Toyota. My habit of choice is a ‘96 Hilux Surf. Bloody brilliant cars. Loved the way it started on first fire, despite standing 8 years, old fuel and open heart surgery.
Great episode Nino, well worth the wait, was expecting the workshop to fill with smoke as you put oil in the cylinders lol, great result though, these old busses are built to last.
well done. I think yours is one of the only channels I can watch for almost an hour and not click off. Love every videos and your an amazing guy. Keep it up one day it will be economically viable.
I love your enthusiasm and energy! You never give up! Keep up the good work! Also spotted a little beast sat next to the Toyota, can’t wait for more news on that
Great work and welcome back Nino. I've missed your down to earth give it a go videos. Looking like you are on a winner here. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
58:42 - now there's a shrewd guy who's done his research, or someone that luck and fortune is smiling on... I did think 'wtf' when you said you'd paid £2k for it... but what do I know!?. The cheapest 4.7 Cruiser on autotrader right now is £7,995. You could plough another £5k into making it pretty and break even!! Get the water leak sorted, shampoo the carpets and steam the interior, give it a once over with a buffer and a second hand bumper could see a decent return on your £2k. Fantastic work.
Awesome buy, they are one of those cars that have a legendary reputation here in South Africa and they are still extremely expensive, even the very first model.❤️👌
Great format with this video. Enjoyed every minute of it and the information you reveal casually as you go along is great. Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to your next episode.
What a great new format and video presentation Nino, and I’m glad you went against what you said in a previous video and have opted to allow some sponsors. Onwards and upwards now for this excellent channel and here’s hoping for some parts and tools sponsors to come aboard with your UA-cam journey 🎉
In South Africa, we do vehicle roadworthy (MOT) only when changing ownership. If we did it once a year, half the vehicles will be taken off the road and crushed. Keep up the good work and videos mate. Cheers

Yea I noticed the similarity a few vids back. Had to comment a few hours ago but I suppose others have already. He's a light haired version
@ciararespect4296 it's the music timings with the dialogue that got me

People neglect reliable cars like that because they think they can "get away with"...because they're reliable

1 hour long video of awesomeness? first sponsor? rescuing a Toyota? Nino, you're treating us nicely!
Glad your back. I just loved this video. A big leap of faith taking on this one. You can't keep a land cruiser down.
The gods of Toyota Landcruiser were definitely with you on this rescue, hope they stay with you for the rest of the work.

Give the undercarriage a wire brush, a paint and some fish oil. Sorted
Dry-Ice blaster would bring that back 80% for sure
Better than fish oil, wire brush satin black rust converter and then use Lanox (sheep wool oil) we use this over west when beach driving.

Because it's been on lpg, that keeps the oil super clean and reduces tarnishing.
Less carbonisation.
Awesome buy, they are one of those cars that have a legendary reputation here in South Africa and they are still extremely expensive, even the very first model.❤️👌
Well done that man. Just looked on MOT checker and seems like it’s been well looked after in the last.
Oh love the JAZZ FLUTE 🪈
Yeah the history doesn't look too bad at all
Glad to see you back posting videos
Love the Land Cruiser, Nino, and the long format video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
From spare parts car to road legal. Congrats! That's a really nice car, despite the mpg. 🥳
Great format with this video. Enjoyed every minute of it and the information you reveal casually as you go along is great. Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to your next episode.
Supremely enjoyable and if you’re not a mechanic then nobody is
Great Ep...love all the little looks to camera in those slightly dubious moments.
Where have you been?great to have you back 👍
What a great new format and video presentation Nino, and I’m glad you went against what you said in a previous video and have opted to allow some sponsors.
Cheers
