Only reason they'd decent at all is because leach attracts good quarterbacks and receivers because they know he has a great offense for them to showcase their skills. Once leach was gone, their skill on offense would plummet. Their defense always sucks because it's always sucked because every good defensive player would go to 9 other teams in the PAC instead.

I think there is something most of you guys are missing here. Mike Leach did not win a Big 12 title and he hasn't won one in the Pac 12 either. He's saying the same things about his players at Washington State as he did about his players at Texas Tech. He browbeats them in the press about the same issues: 'We're failing as coaches to communicate and reach them and they're not getting it.' I see an ever widening gap in communication between Leach, his coaching staff and their players. Then he talks shit about them in public. When you have so much disconnect, you're not going to win football games. Mike Leach is a colorful character, he's funnier than shit when he's on a roll and knows football. He has the tools to win football games. All he has to do is use them to bridge those gaps in communication with his players. It takes coaching on a more elevated plane to win a conference championship and get into the top 5. His results speak for themselves. Leach has never gone that far. I like to compare Mike Leach to John McKay. Both were very funny when it came to talking to the press. When McKay's Trojans lost 51-0 to Notre Dame in 1966, did McKay curse and browbeat his players? No. He said, "I take heart knowing that there are over 300 million Chinese who will never know this game was ever played." The next year, The Trojans dominated the Irish 24-7 in South Bend, won the National Championship and in the remaining nine seasons he coached at USC, lost only once to Notre Dame and won two more national championships. Results speak louder than words.
Yet he is 2xPac 12 coach of the year in 2015 and 2018. 1x Big 12 coach of the year in 2008. In 2008 he tied for first in big 12. In 2008 he was coach of the year.
