    Finally....I've found someone that knows how to teach piano the way we want to play it! I wish I had found you sooner! But that's ok because I've got you now! I'm 57 yrs old and I haven't played since my first year of lessons at the age of 8. This was so enlightening! Thank you from the bottom of my toes!

      Literally my brain from 3.12 when he played the power chord but swapped the notes around with no explanation.

    As soon as you played the chords together for the first time (without adding the complex addons) i immediately thought of "Let It Be"

      Nice! Yeah, let it be is a 1 5 6 4 sequence. Using this technique can make them sound really interesting.

    Add tonic and dominant note ( I and V , first and 5th note of the scale) into the chords to add more feels/complexity to the chords

    Hi Joe loving your vids ! One question, what software are you using ? As it shows the chords and notes at top right it would be very helpful for me to practice without looking at the keys ! If you know what I mean ? What do you think of this idea? Regards and take care now 😄

    Is the 1st and the 5th note the only allowed for the right hand on any scales? For example, if I play in the scale of Eb with a sequence 1-5-6-4 is the only note I can add on the right hand is Bb and Eb? And for the scale of A, it would be A and E?

    • @Creativepianoacademy
      @Creativepianoacademy  6 років тому +4

      Hey... for this isolated example of 'how to create some nice sounding chords without knowing much theory' then yes the root and the fifth are the most accessible and nice sounding across all chords. But it is important to note its just one way to create some interesting chords. there are plenty of others. Try experimenting with the root and the 4th or the root and the sixth. Move between them. some will work, some wont but thats part of learning to feel what sounds good. hope that helps!

    • @BlueStarryPiano
      @BlueStarryPiano 6 років тому

      Roger that! I'll try some combination and experimenting it! Thanks a lot!

    how do you know which notes to add in the other keys? does it translate similarly to the different keys?

    • @ringoze
      @ringoze Рік тому +1

      If in a different Major key, then adding the tonic and 5th of that key still applies.

  • @Chewychewychoochoo
    @Chewychewychoochoo 4 роки тому

    I understand if this is meant for intermediate players, but I'd prefer a longer explanation of the terminology/naming of the chords such as "added 2" or "some-letter-Major-7".

    Why wouldn't you call that second one a Dm11, since you have the min 7 note?

    • @Creativepianoacademy
      @Creativepianoacademy  6 років тому

      Absolutely. I just thought it would be a slightly easier way to think about the chord without having to open up a can of theory worms. But yes the dominant 7th is implied in that chord voicing. Well spotted.

    if you can't make a triad sounding perfect adding more keys just dilutes it more.
