Finally....I've found someone that knows how to teach piano the way we want to play it! I wish I had found you sooner! But that's ok because I've got you now! I'm 57 yrs old and I haven't played since my first year of lessons at the age of 8. This was so enlightening! Thank you from the bottom of my toes!
like this cup of coffee
'Holding a tea cup'
Thanks
Literally my brain from 3.12 when he played the power chord but swapped the notes around with no explanation.
As soon as you played the chords together for the first time (without adding the complex addons) i immediately thought of "Let It Be"
Nice! Yeah, let it be is a 1 5 6 4 sequence. Using this technique can make them sound really interesting.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve got so fed up of playing boring root chords and can’t wait to spice up my music!
love ya man!! thanks!!
Did not expect that to sound so beautiful at 3:46 . Loved the video. Thanks

Thank you another superb lesson!
You're very welcome.
Add tonic and dominant note ( I and V , first and 5th note of the scale) into the chords to add more feels/complexity to the chords
Thanks!
You are fabulous. Many thanks.
So are you... and you are welcome!
I’ve decided you’re marvellous. Many thanks.
Haha, thanks man!

Excellent. Hopefully you can use it to get playing and experimenting. :)
Thanks JOe. "I'll be going for months on this."
Like you said we can keep going back, keep learning and one day👍
absolutely! Thats the idea... one step at a time.
What a great way to let Newbys explore music theory through their emotions and ears.
Merci beaucoup.
Like you way of teaching. Merci 👍

Hi Joe. Your videos are super good.
Hi Hannah. Thanks for the support it means a lot and i'm glad they're helping you.

Respected sir,
I like your excellent technical chord progression and right hand practice. Dear sir can you please create a vedio on Fm and the related chords...and various variation in this Fm chord ....I am an Orthodox priest..Most of our liturgical prayers and songs come in Fm chord and its relative chords... please be kind to show some new techniques...chord progression... Thank you

🙏💕💕💕
Hi Joe loving your vids ! One question, what software are you using ? As it shows the chords and notes at top right it would be very helpful for me to practice without looking at the keys ! If you know what I mean ? What do you think of this idea? Regards and take care now 😄
Brian, thanks. I use a program called Chordie. Google 'chordie app'. Its a great tool for learning.
Thanks joe 😀
I have shared this video with my Twitter account
Great stuff! Glad you liked it man!
Thx again as I listen once again and you know the light bulb moment! Well it just went on as to the importance of knowing the chords
Concentrating too much on hands and where there going, but this morning wholla😊
Love lightbulb moments. Haha. It means somethings working!
very complicated josep but great i think when able to master it
your videos are awesome, plz do R&B or Gospel tutorial videos............. Thanks
Good Idea. I'll think about how I could put some videos together. R&B and Gospel isn't my main thing though but i'll see what I can come up with!
Are you using a VST? If so what one?
Fuera bueno tener todos sus vídeos en español
Is the 1st and the 5th note the only allowed for the right hand on any scales? For example, if I play in the scale of Eb with a sequence 1-5-6-4 is the only note I can add on the right hand is Bb and Eb? And for the scale of A, it would be A and E?
Hey... for this isolated example of 'how to create some nice sounding chords without knowing much theory' then yes the root and the fifth are the most accessible and nice sounding across all chords. But it is important to note its just one way to create some interesting chords. there are plenty of others. Try experimenting with the root and the 4th or the root and the sixth. Move between them. some will work, some wont but thats part of learning to feel what sounds good. hope that helps!
Roger that! I'll try some combination and experimenting it! Thanks a lot!
Does this work with minor chords too?
what piano vst are you using? or is it the sound from your digital piano?
I use a vst. Quantum leap pianos.
how do you know which notes to add in the other keys? does it translate similarly to the different keys?
If in a different Major key, then adding the tonic and 5th of that key still applies.
I understand if this is meant for intermediate players, but I'd prefer a longer explanation of the terminology/naming of the chords such as "added 2" or "some-letter-Major-7".
Curse you dude.. 😂
Love your videos man..
Keep it up.. It really helps.. Thanks
Why wouldn't you call that second one a Dm11, since you have the min 7 note?
Absolutely. I just thought it would be a slightly easier way to think about the chord without having to open up a can of theory worms. But yes the dominant 7th is implied in that chord voicing. Well spotted.
if you can't make a triad sounding perfect adding more keys just dilutes it more.
You should teach indian song
i've done madari from coke studio? check my vids earlier on. I've even done a tutorial on it... allthough its private and you need to sign up to my list to get it
