I'm loving these lessons...I'm 80 yo, I learned piano for six months at age 9. The teacher told my mum it was a waste of time as I was playing by ear...end of story. When our family needed me less as they matured I taught myself to sight read...bought an electric Yamaha organ...bought some easy music and taught myself . Thank you Joseph for your lessons that I can tap into to keep me inspired. Covid 19 has given me lots of time to practice.
Holy cats!!! Wow, I thought I was a dinosaur starting 5 months ago at the old age of 49. Congratulations my friend, YOU are an inspiration to many. Good Luck and Keep Rocking! 🤘🤠🤘
Kudos for the video content! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you heard about - Riddleagan Piano Master Remedy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great one of a kind guide for revealing an easy way to learn the piano without the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my old buddy Taylor after many years got cool success with it.
you are an amazing teacher!! and I should know, bc I was a High School teacher for 35 yrs...you generate fantastic enthusiasm!! I'm 68 yo, haven't touched my piano for 13 years after starting as total beginner at age 42. I gave up after 7 years because annoyed at my lack of progress. but you make me determined to jump back in and begin thinking about piano in a completely different, better way - just for the sheer enjoyment. Many thanks indeed, Tony
Teaching through patterns is always the most effective way of teaching how to play any instrument. The straightforward graphics makes the music theory so much easier to digest, and without burning a lot of brain cells in the process. Man, you've got the right formula. Keep this nice thing going!
I have been trying to learn the key board for a year on my own. I have learned more in half an hour than I did for a year. Now I have to practice like crazy. Thanks so much. Great teacher.
Beyond "well done instruction!" I have played flute from University marching bands to university symphony to recreational jazz. Now in early 50's retirement - aching to learn piano. You have a way of making ' starting out' seem like a friend rather than a foe to overcome. Thanks a million. You do know, you not only have control and mastery . . .you have given back to humanity by your awesome You Tubes. May this effort on your part toward 'us' - bring in return to you some deep desired goal, wish, dream all your own.
Thanks so much for the kind words and I'm delighted my videos are helping and reaching people like yourself. My deep goal / wish is to use this as a conduit to exploring my own creativity and music productions free from the pressures of normal everyday life. That would be awesome!
I am classically trained. Recently I joined a gospel group playing keyboard in the band. I really battled with right hand patterns but since watching your video I am much more confident and I sound much better. Thank you so much. Keep the videos coming please. Eliane from Boksburg Gauteng South Africa.
Just starting out as a beginner. I've watched countless of videos on piano lessons, and you Sir are by Far the most pedagogical instructor/teacher I've come across online. Truly fantastic
I was given a Yamaha keyboard a while back and had been plugging away trying to play written music, and decided I wanted to learn how to play chords so I google'd and you popped up. Thank you so much I love the way you teach it is so helpful I am thrilled to have found your Piano Academy thank you thank you thank you ! You are a fabulous teacher!
It’s amazing how much I am enjoying these videos! I’ve been playing the piano for almost 70 years. It’s fun to find a new approach to playing around withit. Thank you!
Josef, I've been trying to play for years. I've watched dozens of YT 'experts' and I've just discovered you! Your stuff is well presented, simple and beautiful so I have great hopes for myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have seen lots of people trying to teach people piano, this is by far the best, I feel quite inspired by the way you have presented your lessons.thanks for your time, I am defiantly subscribed
Russell, that means a lot. I am very pleased you like the vids and are 'defiantly' subscribed. ;) Appreciate the kind words. Do stick around and check out the other vids / playlists!
I have gone through several piano tutorial on UA-cam here, but non is unique and easy to learn like your lessons am glad I found this page. Thank you keep up the good work!!
Dude you are a GOD! (Not literally, of course, but you get my drift). Im a 74 yr old newbie. Im taking in person lessons, but you really help me a lot in actually feeling what I’m supposed to be learning in class. I subscribed and am looking forward to seeing you more. Kudos.
Hi, I'm 69 and always wanted to play piano. You make it look so simple, but it's a lot of practice. Thanks very much for the effort you put into these videos especially in this difficult time. I hope that within a year I will be able to play a bit. I'll let you know, much appreciated.
What a beautiful demonstration of the infinite possibilities of harmonization. Experiment is the key word because one must first assimilate and integrate all the possible inversions, their association, rhythm, etc. I am amazed to discover this wealth, subtleties and eager to test these simple patterns although I started the piano only three months ago. It's promising and so much more motivating than most of the methods I've watched so far.
I've been following all videos til up here, from 1 to 11 and man you are the best piano teacher I have ever encountered seriously! Thank you so much for making it a fun journey and for helping us improve so professionally and profoundly! You are the man! much love!!!
Got my piano four days ago aged 49! I have guitar experience but nothing on piano. Loving these videos ! Practicing a stupid amount! Thank you ! Just what I needed!
My piano is on the way, but I got so excited and watched these 2 days all videos on UA-cam, and so far, after 10 hours of watching everything, I have to say, you are the best. I like your name as well. Sound czech :) From April, I will start learning piano with you definitaly. Kristyna from Czech rep :) finally video with actually playing, not only explaining! And notes. And colors. All in one!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was really down when someone went on and on about my 'simple' playing. I use left hand appegio patterns a lot. He was basically saying I sounded like an amateur. I love the patterns you've thought here. I will make use of my right 😁
Hi bloke. I am a 68 year old Ozzie and have just bought a 61 key robbie keyboard...and have locked in on you....though things not so pretty 'Down Under' at the minute......On on and thanks for your help. Geck
Hi CPA, I'm 59yo, a long time guitarist but am teaching myself piano now because I can. I like your video it's taught me how to satisfy an itch that the guitarist in me has and that's to get straight into doing fun stuff. I'm loving the C G Am F prog as I can really relate to that & I went ahead of myself & added 1 extra note into the arpeggio (I learned how to play the above prog in arpeggio style from the previous video of yours). My right hand was handling 4 notes instead of 3 & here's where my question comes in ... (firstly I know I'm getting my ambitions mixed up with my abilities but ...) my right hand felt that the thumb was comfy playing the note near the bottom of the key but the next notes needed my fingers to be placed near the base of the black keys, so I had only 2/3rds of a white key to play on due to the black key being in the way, but my wrist felt less cramped?? Is this something you would teach later on or should I resist developing this style? I'm always going to be jumping ahead because I learn by doing not by rote ...but I'm seriously trying with the rote side honest.
LET IT BE!! Perfect example of pattern no. 3. Now if its good enough for the Beatles. It's good enough for freakin anyone. love the videos. For me personally not a lot of new stuff, but in a very good way your video tells my big lazy brain "you know this stuff in theory. now go put it in your fingers!". Thanks for that.
YES. definitely. You can hear these patterns in a lot of songs. Some with a few more bits and pieces and some some emotional thrown in but same at the core.
Love it the way you teach as am only just started about 3 months ago and I love the way you explaining how do play piano. Kia Ora from NZ. I will see you again and again till i get better. x
Joseph, you're the man thanks for sharing your knowledge it is helping me to play the instrument of my choice sooner rather than later. keep up the good work.
I must say you are a very good teacher. In matters of minutes I was able to play that melody. Still not perfect but for a beginner I'm feeling really good right now. Able to exercise my left hand is a big step for me. Thanks so much.
I just bought an AKAI mini as a gift for some kids, this is so much easier. It's a lot better than the music classes that I remember from middle school. You are so clear and your videos well produced.
I just started following you and i appreciate the simplicity you have to introduce us to get more familiar and play around with the piano in order to challenge our selves and is amazing how the time flies when you get lost into the lesson. Thanks a lot and cheers from San Francisco California.
Love your approach, all I need now is a keyboard with which to practise. Guess what, I'm going to buy one and come back and haunt your channel. You young sir, are a gem. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your amazing tutorials. you put so much effort in them and I am learning so much and so fast with you. piano is my second instrument.
Dude, your generosity of spirit with your willingness to share your knowledge is a blessing. I'm an absolute beginner. Yet going through your lessons I already feel comfortable sitting at my piano doing your exercises albeit sloooowly ha. I can't thank you enough so as an appreciation I sit through the ads and have subscribed to your channel. side note: I like your showing off when giving examples. Too much humility makes teacher a dull person haha Keep bringing happiness to the world ;-)

Oh M G! I don't play the piano even though I have one and part of the reason is that I'm uncoordinated with my left hand. But I tried this for shits and giggles....what resulted was pure genuine enjoyment. It's literally 11:56 at night, I work at 8:00am tomorrow but I want to keep playing all night!
Excellent instruction, I'm a 76 year old beginner and I can actually follow this
Wishing you the best on your piano journey!
