    You are missing a bunch of important stuff..
    1) sienna has no dvd player, just a screen and hdmi
    2) odyssey has no ceiling air vents
    3) odyssey volume stats are so much higher because the second row is removable, not because it’s physically bigger
    4) sienna has camping mode which can run the climate control off the hybrid battery and only turn on engine to recharge it if you want to sleep in the van

    What annoys me is yet again we have another top trim family vehicle with dedicated captains chairs in the second row. Toyota wins this comparison by a mile, but if you need to haul 8 passengers and want the top trim, Honda wins because they understand that people buy minivans for MAX people hauling capacity!

    • @seikocitizenwatches
      @seikocitizenwatches 3 місяці тому +6

      @@Zeek509 also the 2nd (middle row) middle seat is so small, under padded, thinly cushioned, narrow, cheesy cheap and not stand-alone like the 2nd Generation Toyota Sienna built from 2004-2010. I had the 2005 and its 3-seat 2nd row is the best and the most comfortable.

      @seikocitizenwatches Yeah everything is done to maximize profits now and for luxury at the cost of practicality. I drive a 2008 vehicle with very few issues. Mom and sister drive cars loaded with tech and so many faulty issues. Im keeping my car as long as I can.

      Ty I used to think I was strange for actually wanting all 8 seats and the top trim. This is why only the Honda and Kia Carnival were on my list. Very happy with the Kia, middle seat in 2nd row easily accommodates infant seat anchored in, and can slide all the way back out of the way when not in use (w( 3rd row folded).

    We have a 2001 Odyssey purchased new. Perfect condition. Only issue was the transmission, but it was replaced under warranty at 105000 miles. NO issues. Gave to my daughter and just purchased a 2024 Odyssey. Sienna was too expensive and no arm rests on the front seats. My wife is very short and with the Sienna's seat moved very close to the steering wheel, she has no place to put her arm. Just took a 5 hour road trip and we got 31.3 MPG with a packed car. With almost a 20 gallon tank, did not have to feel up the car. AWD is nice and so is hybrid, but for the cost they want for a Sienna, you can purchase a lot of gas. Plus, I know my car will last 300000 miles and will not have to replace the battery.

    • @Illmatic662

      Wow they replaced it under warranty at 105000?! How is that possible, did they do you a solid? I thought Honda only had a 5 Year - 60K Mile Powertrain Warranty.
      I was leaning towards the Sienna (I'm early in my search) but all these dealers are selling it above MSRP. I can't get a Sienna XSE I'd like for less than $50K (Includes JBL and other packages) which is absurd. It looks like I may settle for Odyssey instead, glad it worked for you.

I have not only used the van as a family hauler, but as a mixed use vehicle: I have removed some or all of the seats, hauled plywood, sheetrock, 2x4’s, moved kids into college etc. You neglected to mention removing the middle seats seats in the Sienna is a much bigger job, and also horsepower and braking distance when driving with a full load is not the same as driving with 2 people is not the same thing. All I want to say is for those who are looking for speed and rather pick the Odessey, don’t buy the minivan, but a civic type r because who wants to be drag racing in a minivan. Sure you may get up to speed more in the odessey but the Sienna does pretty well in that department. I’m a Toyota lover but the Odessey is more versatile so I’ll give you that. @@FuturequestTechLLC Understandable. However, I have to disagree with you for the more comfort in the Odyssey. We are talking Honda’s mini 9 inch screen, for a minivan! Just a little odd for 50k. Adding on to comfort, we have heated rear seats in Sienna and four zone climate! That’s like the BMW level of four zone for X5 except Sienna is cheaper. Let’s be real here, the Honda, even though it may have a sporty design there not used for sport usage. Minivans are used for comfort and practicality or if you have a lot of children. If I want to spend between 50-60k on a minivan, Sienna is the choice. You save money at the pump, you get a lot of rich comfort for that type of segment. Forget you talking about sport stuff for these cars. Some minivans are used for long road trips. I want a car that will be nice for the money, not a sport thing. If you want a sport car, get a BMW.

    I would love to see a detailed video comparison on the highest model available of the 8-seater Sienna with the highest model Odyssey. I have ALWAYS wanted a Sienna, it's been my dream car for YEARS, however I have been spoiled by my last several cars that have had all of the creature comforts and I want those still, but there are only a few reasons I want a minivan over an SUV, I want sliding doors, and I want to fit 8 people comfortably without sacrificing cargo space behind the 3rd row. We have a 2015 Durango, and while my stroller is quite large, when the 3rd row is up, it barely fits back there, and that's with only one stroller seat, not sure a 2nd stroller seat would fit. So, obviously both vans check those two boxes, but only the Odyssey has any decent creature comfort options.
    My plan is to go test drive an Odyssey and then go to the Toyota dealership to see what options the Sienna XLE 8-seater can be ordered with, and what can be added when it arrives. I'm really hoping the Sienna comes out on top, but we'll see. It's also a much better looking vehicle and I always admire them when I see them on the road!

    The odyssey is the van for the buyer who loves the drive. It’s not a sports car but compared to the other minivans on the market it has always been the most enjoyable to drive. Reliability I pretty hard to judge right now with the Toyota powertrain still being so new. Being a Toyota it will probably be fine but I don’t know how I feel about a small engine in such a large vehicle and a battery that will need to be replaced someday. The awd is nice in the sienna but it’s rear drive is only the electric motors from the hybrid system. There is no connection to the engine in the front. Will be interesting to see if that becomes problematic over time. Maybe I’m getting old but I like the tried and true simplicity of a naturally aspirated engine and standard transmission even at the expense of fuel economy. Especially because these vehicles are workhorses that will likely be abused.
