But apart from these.. if one likes to do jobs by hand( maintenance operation) he/ she would love it... It's a job which can help you get away from all the bullshit of day to day life too.. you maybe lucky enough to meet people from all across globe.. and visit fantastic places.. even the sea itself is majestic and beautiful... And yes.. after 6-7 years.. and if you were lucky and cleared exams properly and got into good companies.. you can definitely earn a lot of money.. a lot!!!
I have completed my Btech in marine engineering back in 2019 and i am currently sailing on gas carriers and honestly this kid is living in some utopia because the salary he quoted after clearing the exam post Training period is no where close to the real deal. Salaries are as follows - 1. Engine Cadet - $500 to $1000 per month 2. 4th Engineer - 2500 to 4500 3. 3rd Engineer - 3k to 6k 4. 2nd Engineer - $8k to 11k 5. Chief - $11k to 15k One has to realise that to become a crorepati a person will have to sail for practically a whole year I guess as a 4th Engineer plus the cost of living in India too is increasing rapidly so the dream of becoming andrew tate is a little far fetched financially speaking. And I hate to break it to this guy but life at sea is tough so its definitely not everyone's cup of tea....wishing him luck coz he needs a whole lot of it
@@bestdeal6563 GP rating is a good option if you don't want to study too much after getting into a job.... because officers need to appear for exams to get promoted everytime but GP Rating Crew dont have to go through that process...they can straight away join a ship after Training and earn an average of $1500 to $3000 per month depending on ship type, rank and experience. Just keep 2 things in mind, first, that you do your Training from a verified, DG Shipping Certified Institute and after Training you don't fall in the trap of agents who ask for money to get you a job, some of them might be able to help you but most of them are frauds, other than that the only drawback with GP rating is that their contracts are longer than an officer's contract so for example officer gets a contract of 6 months but Crew and Ratings get a contract of 9 months. There are many substandard companies... Which would make you work in less than market standard conditions as well as salary... Companies exploit 4th engineers the most... So be careful with that...
Apart from all these... There are multiple courses and exams which one has to do and renew in 5 years period.. in which the licence exams..( 3 licences for 4th eng/3rd eng.. 2nd eng and chief eng) are tricky.. because clearing such exams.. requires hardwork plus luck .. so it's not as smooth as one is expecting it to be...
Lastly ship job is completely different from land job...
You won't be able to be with your family at the times of their needs...
Even if it's emergency.. if you are in midsea.. you won't be able to be there...
Working conditions are nothing like land..
Especially engineers work in Hot and humid say 40degs.. to 50degs..conditions with physical ( overhauling machineries and maintenance operation)and mental work so it's not an office AC kinda job... So be prepared for that... Be prepared for emergencies.. as sea life.. everything has to be done.. the people onboard.. so be it.. grounding or fire.. be prepared to deal with it...

Salaries are as follows -
1. Engine Cadet - $500 to $1000 per month
2. 4th Engineer - 2500 to 4500
3. 3rd Engineer - 3k to 6k
4. 2nd Engineer - $8k to 11k
5. Chief - $11k to 15k
One has to realise that to become a crorepati a person will have to sail for practically a whole year I guess as a 4th Engineer plus the cost of living in India too is increasing rapidly so the dream of becoming andrew tate is a little far fetched financially speaking. And I hate to break it to this guy but life at sea is tough so its definitely not everyone's cup of tea....wishing him luck coz he needs a whole lot of it

What is your opinion on gp rating
