We have to be onboard 24 hours but when u have good team u reply on them abs rest peacefully abs that’s when we get time to do all our hobbies on ship as well

Such a nice interview. You talk about success only after you have conqured over your failures as no failure is final and so are the successes. My dear friend I graduated from DMET, prior to MERI. the 88 batch. I also taught briefly at MERI. BUT a big but .... I never finished time for my tickets so never moved beyond 4rth Engineer. My total sail time was less than 12 months. But I don't see that as a failure. The greatest gift that Marine Engineering gave me was to gain a deeper and realistic self awareness. Very soon onboard I realized that I was a people person and so i needed to be near people. I had to move careers and industries to get to where I wanted to be. Your sense of empathy about a person who was injured was heart touching. In life the greatest challenges are often faced when you are solving people issues and may loosely be connected with your Technical domain. Now I will add the biggest pro of coming from the Engineering background. Even if i might sound biased. I think, you have far wider opportunities in various industries and functions as compared to the deck side. You will find it much easier to transition to shore based opportunities because of your technical and managerial skills. My 2 cents. Thanks for making the video. God bless.
I love his parting advice, "Survival of the fittest. If you are good in your job you'll be respected." C/E Praneep and 3/O Karanjeet, you are a unique lot i've seen. I salute you both. Very much in contrast to the Indian cadets that i have taught in a maritime academy 10 years ago. They should learn your wisdom and be honest people to their own selves.
Thanks, good interview young man. Chief was very honest, straightforward with his answer. I was a young seaman who got hurt in Bombay port in 1970 but I was young didn't care much at that time. Now I can understand the feeling of that oiler.
Yes , to be honest I am not very comfortable speaking in English especially when i am speaking with my heart on my sleeves . But Karan requested to make this video in English as he knows that many of his subscribers had requested for English conversations and he loves to take care of each of his viewers . I liked his, this caring attitude immensely.

Maturity, sincerity and balance shines through in CE Mehta's approach, way more than one would expect to see age-wise and job-experience wise. It is so clear that all the effort and hard work put in for every exam written; the strength to get up and try again, and again if needed is ingrained in both the CE and in the Capt. who interviewed him. Few days back I use to see Praneet sir in our college (MERI Kolkata) roaming different parts and making videos. At that time I was not much aware of him, after seeing this video I got to know more about him and now I wish I could meet him again and talk to him.
ha ha ha , hope this time when I come to College atleast few more students will come to my session. Last time it was hillarious , Praneet Mehta with twenty students in a session when easily 60 students could have come and yes will put the video on my visit soon.

I had achieved a general seat in btech marine engineering at the prestigious imu kolkata but I let go of the opportunity to opt for mechanical engineering instead.... I constantly remind myself how big of a mistake I have made and how different my career would've been if I chose this instead...... You know it's value when it's long gone

Hi Mohd Adnan , onboard Ship I conduct regular prayers and I pray to Jesus , Waheguru ,Allah before I pray to Mata rani. I prefer saying JAI MATA DI to saying good morning and good afternoon . I thought saying JAI MATA DI gave me positivity and it started happening , similar to ALL IS WELL from 3 IDIOTS. Loving your religion is not bad but respecting other religions is more important. When as a team we pray together , we pray for well being of each and everyone on ship and at that time its a common God. When my EO is keeping Roza in Ramadan period , its my duty to keep enquiring of his well being especially in a hot and humid climate of Engine room. Similarly celebrating Easter and Christmas with my Phillipino crew mates , gives me happiness. Still , I really don't know if I am secular or not , that's for people working with me to tell. Keeping my fingers crossed. In the end would love to be known as a good human being, over my religious beliefs any day.
