The Admiral may become a Chief of Naval Staff. Similarly, the Army Chief is a General and the Air Force chief is the Air Marshal. The GoI selects one of these three Chiefs as CDS (Chief of Defence Staff). The Navy protects the Sea, the Ocean for the maritime interest. Whereas the merchant Navy keeps the world economy running. I am one of those lucky Sailors who served in both sectors of the Navy. Thank God for giving me all the desire of my life.
