Just to give you a heads up, Eufy doorbell cam can use anything from 8 to 24 volts. If you have a 24-volt system. Use a voltmeter and make sure it doesn't exceed the 24 volts. I had my transformer pumping 28 v and the eufy stopped working after 2 weeks it couldn't handle that much power. My new eufy is running now on 16 v and it is charging perfectly normally

Now I have 2 Eufy Cam Hubs, Eight Cam 2's, Eufy Door bell and so far am very happy with the Eufy battery longevity and App. I contemplated going with the Reolink POE 8 camera setup as I am wired for Cat 6 but a lot of labor and wires needed for a 4800 SQ foot home was extensive. My Tplink AX11000 Router along with two TPlink 2400 extenders and 16 cat 6 locations covers the whole house and provides a strong signal to the Eufy Hubs, so no problems with drop offs. My only problem is Eufy is taking forever with a firmware upgrade for the Hubs to expand the USB capabilities for extended storage.
Good set up you have there..I’m waiting for Reolink to add AI on their NVR cameras..and this will be a game changer if they do and the AI works pretty good.

@@ChristianKater I bought one couple of days ago. Even with the lastest firmware update. My wife first complaint was about the two-way audio .I really like the idea that you don't have to mess with any wires or subscription fees, but I'd like to give nest hello(it's not cheap$229) a try and see if it suffers from the same issue or not. I got a real surprise this morning. We have had extremely cold and lots of rain, so we have not adapted our battery powered eufy doorbell cam to charge on solar but it has not been a problem charging when needed and that is not often. Still recently I noticed the battery was low then promptly forgot about it. Something popped up this morning that made me check it. It was drained to the point there was nothing but red. It was almost down to 25% more then 2 weeks ago. The app would only say the cam was not available. Husband went to bring it in so I could charge it. After about a minute the app brought up the view. I decided to check when it had stopped recording. That's where my surprise came in. It recorded my husband removing it, the garbage truck at our driveway an hour before going both ways, we are on a dead-end street for now. I checked days before today and recordings are there. I am very pleased. I don't know if you have taken the doorbell cam down to being battery to red but thought you might want to know what happens. Even with some privacy zones for neighbors and at the longest recording of 120s, retrigger is 2s, with the highest quality, I think this has been a great use for us.
Thank god I bought this doorbell mid-october, because in the night of Friday November 13th people went inside our car (forgot to lock it, unfortunately) stealing our stuff. Too bad we didn’t catch their faces clearly but we now know there were three assholes. Buying the doorbell was my best decision ever.
@@experiment54 we’ve set recording time to 120 seconds in ‘Customize Recording’ under working mode. Two minutes was the exact amount of time from opening our car door untill leaving our car.
@@experiment54 it will still record after 120 seconds but it depends on the camera if it catch any visible movements AND how many seconds you’ve set under ‘re-trigger interval’ recording. The minimum re-trigger interval is 2 seconds (battery doorbell 2k) so after 120s has passed it will leave a gap of 2-4 sec where nothing is recorded. Also something to add: if you’re viewing an event live, it wont be saved under ‘Events’ so you can’t review it later unless you start hitting the record button during your live feed session. This is a miss for me but overall it’s a good doorbell. I hope they will find a solution for this in the future by adding a feature of automatically recording when opening the live feed.
Thanks for the video. Was going to buy this device but no option for 2-way audio and video recording is a no go for me. Not sure why they wouldn't incorporate this feature. Checked their website and someone in the review section mentioned they contacted Eufy support; support says their software doesn't support this. Huge miss in my opinion.
just to let you know this doorbell camera isnt best for security purposes rather just an expensive doorbell with a camera. If a thief was to steal it the footage would go with them. As soon as you unsync the device from homebase 2 it will wipe the footage completely rendering the homebase useless. Eufy has been contacted about this MANY times but still refuse to fix this MAJOR flaw. Pleae avoid the doorbell till they fix it but doubt it as its been a whole year that I've owned one and it still happens. Great video on its features🙌🏻
Thorough review as always. Hoping HomeKit integration comes soon but the audio latency is disappointing. Do you think the results may be different if you hardwired the doorbell instead?
Eufy will be updating this to improve the audio lag..will be testing this some more..wiring it will not affect anything..it will just charge the battery.
I just wish that there is an option to add expansion memory like they have on the rest of the homebases from eufy. I don think 16GB is enough to save. I know it loop records, however, I do like The idea to save more for archive.
@Lifehackster - also managed to get the new battery doorbell. Noticed the laggy video myself and changed one key setting in “video encoding format” to low compression (instead of high compression) which indicates higher bandwidth. Regardless the video is now smooth! Will test later if this helps the audio delay
I did play around with it..it is smoother but a bit soft (blurry) on the video quality..I’m testing it more with this setting..artifacts are still there though especially with movement and when subject gets closer to the cameras. As to the audio lag, eufy just told me that version 2200 on the firmware..which they just recently released should fix it..I’ll be testing this again. Thanks for the tip on the setting..
LifeHackster you’re correct. The setting drops the resolution to 1600 x 1200 vs the usual 2560 x 1920 using the high compression quality setting. For me I’m going to have to keep it at the lower setting until the firmware can make it usable at full quality. It’s still decent enough whilst the audio works properly. Fingers crossed it’s fixable.
Questions: 1) Can you set it up so that your cell phone is the doorbell? 2) Can you set it up so your phone rings when an activity is sensed? 3) Can you put the Homebase anywhere in your house - not directly connected to the modem?

I wonder if it possible to connect the older (wired version) to the new home base I do like that the older version having 3 sec pre-recording sadly the new one doesn't have but the new home base is great. looking forward to the comparison vid of the two
they would have to do a firmware update if it is possible, I would agree it would be nice since I just got a wire ver. of this doorbell and would like to get camera system in the future.
I just wanted to know if they fixed those audio problems? I actually just received mine so I guess I'll test it out when I get it unboxed. Thanks for the review.
Any updates of the things you mentioned thinking about getting this ? If not would you recommend anything else thats battery powered and works woth with Google? Thanks
I'm surprised how much audio latency you have on the battery doorbell. The wired one is not nearly that bad. The motion detection push notification also seems to be twice as long. And for these reasons I'll probably stick with my wired model. I look forwards to your comparison. The interface with the existing chime is really interesting. My biggest complaint about the wired Eufy doorbell is that I had to give up my mechanical chime, which was a nice smooth 1960s chime that you could hear through the whole house. The plug in wireless chime is cheap and tinny sounding. I wonder if it will ever be possible to have the best of both worlds. Wired doorbell for charging and chime control, base station inside for secure video storage, and a recording buffer. Eufy if you're out there listening!
Really, the one I bought did exactly that. It was the battery model that required the Homebase 2 but you could wire it to the existing doorbell lines and it would not only charge itself off those lines but would ring your existing mechanical chimes, it also gave you the option of also operating the electronic chime in the Home base 2 and the option of one, the other, both or none. I do find the remote alert to your phone can have rather significant latency sometimes but it does have a quick notification mode.
Seriously! I also have the wired doorbell and I can't understand why they can't ring the existing chime. Also you can't add a homebase to the wired version, what the hell?
I wish the recharge port was up on the top or bottom, so you don't have to remove it to recharge the battery. You could hook up an external battery pack to recharge it while it is still mounted. I might put up a piece of wood mount with the cable running out the back and then I won't have to remove it to charge every time. Or the could make wireless recharging.
Great video. Do you have to use the home base that comes with the doorbell or can you use the home base that comes with the eufy security cameras? Is there any advantage to having two home bases? Thanks. Love the videos. I just noticed that the do sell just the add on version.
Hi, how far is your base from the doorbell? I'm thinking of getting one - it would be about 5m between the base and doorbell with a load bearing wall in between. I'm wondering if its a signal issue?
Fantastic video , I know this video was from 2 years ago but I just purchased mine and will be getting it tomorrow. Has the latency issue been resolved?
Great video.... loved the details .. really helpful. Can you advise on the range ? Like how far can we place the doorbell from the homebase and it will still work?
I am in the market for a battery-powered doorbell and this review was VERY helpful. Thank you. I have a pretty basic question, I think, re whether the notices/alerts can be sent to multiple phones. If my wife is home and I am not, would she be able to see on her phone who is at the door, as well?
Hi LifeHackster, I see your video is from Feb 2020, can you tell us if the issue you mention towards the end (the 2 way audio, after pushing doorbell) has been resolved since February? We are buying ours today and I wonder if the resolution (if not resolved yet) would be just a software download/update or if my unit will be outdated once I have it installed. Appreciate your reply. Thank you.
None of the reviews I have found on this doorbell mention the performance when you are away from home the cellular network. Does it perform as well and as quickly on the notifications and interactions with the home base ?
I bought this fantastic product, it worked perfectly and I am very satisfied, it just cut off the power to the whole area at some point and now it does not work. can you tell me what i need to do?
Hi! I am excited to get one but I am planning to install it on my gate. However the distance between my main door and gate is around 60 feet. Will it still connect fine to the homebase providing that the only obstruction is the front house wall?
I just sent that question to Eufy and here is their response: " am sorry that when the user is answering the visitor, the doorbell will not auto record the visitor due to the PIR settings. But users can record the video by himself. Also, the doorbell currently supports two-way audio but only one-way recording."
@@LifeHackster Can't wait for the comparison video! Wish Eufy would've enabled different settings if the doorbell was wired. Still trying to adjust to the no 3s buffer. Also concerned about the non stop charging of the battery.

Obviously, wireless is far simpler but I am willing to upgrade my transformer to ensure quality video and audio. Any other video doorbells you recommend preferably with no subscriptions?
Hi LifeHackster. Once again, thank you for your awesome videos. I purchased the eufy floodlight cam because of your review. Has there been an update to improve the delay between 2 people talking through the phone and doorbell? The lag was very apparent in your video and it is restraining me from pulling the trigger on it. If it indeed improved, I will buy it to accompany my existing eufy cam. Thank you.
This was a very helpful review. I don't know if you are still checking comments on this, but if you are, here are a couple of questions. Can it be installed without scanning a QR code (my phone doesn't have this function). Another awesome review! Just what I was looking for to make a decision. Did Eufy fix the recording being stopped after answering the notification?
I’d like to know this also.
Anyone know?
Is the problem of audio delay and the 2 way AV recording being fixed already. It is June 2021 now
Alex-A.... Thanks. Been saying it the wrong way my whole life.
Lol..I got used to it, that I write it the same way too.... Alex-a
I just wanted to know if they fixed those audio problems? I actually just received mine so I guess I'll test it out when I get it unboxed. Thanks for the review.
Thinking of buying this. How do you like it? Any issues, also can you log onto the door bell for a live view?
Eufy has said that they will update their wired doorbell to have a backup with the base station. I don’t know the timeline..
Do i need another homebase for the doorbell if i already have one for my eufy cameras?
Hey! I really like your videos! They help me a lot! Thank you :)
Great review. Do you think they will be adding mechanical chime to their wired doorbell? And which doorbell do you think has the better video quality?
The wired one has smoother video..quality is about the same.
If away from home, will it notify me on my phone ?
Yes, as long as your phone is connected to an internet data plan or connected to WiFi
Has the two way communication and recording issue been sorted?
Thanks for doing this review. Now im considering getting one. Salamat and mabuhay!
Thanks man! You’re a stress reliever haha 🙏
I know this is an older video. But just asking if the issues with audio delay and recording issues has been rectified ?
Great video. Do you have to use the home base that comes with the doorbell or can you use the home base that comes with the eufy security cameras? Is there any advantage to having two home bases? Thanks. Love the videos. I just noticed that the do sell just the add on version.
Nope. You can use just 1 base station and just add the doorbell.
Well i got my eufy battery doorbell installed on Wednesday and there's more delay than a London bus. They need to fix that ASAP
are you planning to keep it??
@@windyknot2094 yes ive installed and ill be keeping it but im hoping Eufy will improve performance
Hi, how far is your base from the doorbell? I'm thinking of getting one - it would be about 5m between the base and doorbell with a load bearing wall in between. I'm wondering if its a signal issue?
Is this the first gen or the newer 2k one?
@@GK-qc5ry it's the 2k version
Hi, is the issue with this doorbell fixed, the stop recording issue?
Very well made video buddy, keep up the good work !!
Fantastic video , I know this video was from 2 years ago but I just purchased mine and will be getting it tomorrow. Has the latency issue been resolved?
Very, very good and informative review. Appreciate the review. Thanks.
Excellent video! Keep up the reviews dude!
Tnx for the review etc, just what i needed now i'll buy one 👌
Great video.... loved the details .. really helpful. Can you advise on the range ? Like how far can we place the doorbell from the homebase and it will still work?
I am in the market for a battery-powered doorbell and this review was VERY helpful. Thank you. I have a pretty basic question, I think, re whether the notices/alerts can be sent to multiple phones. If my wife is home and I am not, would she be able to see on her phone who is at the door, as well?
thank you for the review, this is very helpful.
Great review but why not raise the doorbell up so when folks are near it you can see with face instead of their stomach?
Hi LifeHackster, I see your video is from Feb 2020, can you tell us if the issue you mention towards the end (the 2 way audio, after pushing doorbell) has been resolved since February? We are buying ours today and I wonder if the resolution (if not resolved yet) would be just a software download/update or if my unit will be outdated once I have it installed. Appreciate your reply. Thank you.
Are you having the issue with 2 way Audio?
@@Gaffa619 i am..just got the unit
If you have a power outage of need to unplug the base to move it elsewhere does it need re-connecting to the router or does it remember the router ?
Looking forward to battery versus no battery comparison
Soon..
can you please do a video of how to connect the battery to make charge permanently
Hmm hope it gets fixed ill wait b4 buying
None of the reviews I have found on this doorbell mention the performance when you are away from home the cellular network. Does it perform as well and as quickly on the notifications and interactions with the home base ?
Yes, they do.
It's pretty quick. It's all depends on your phone and your phones network.
Thanks for the review. How long is the delay if you use alexa as a doorbell speaker
Within 2-3 seconds.
The tool to remove it is...pretty much a paperclip?
It means the doorbell can be stolen by anyone who has access to a paperclip?
What happening to the thump nail picture? They had that with Eufy doorbell 1. You know, the quick picture that lets you know who is there.
It has it. You have to set it up on the app..
looks a lot better PQ than the 1080p one worth the extra
I think I will stick with my Ring Pro doorbell. Thanks for the info.
You are welcome.
Has Eufy fixed 2 way talk recording yet? thanks
I bought this fantastic product, it worked perfectly and I am very satisfied, it just cut off the power to the whole area at some point and now it does not work. can you tell me what i need to do?
Well done my friend and excellent video for anyone thinking of buying one of these 👍👍👍
Hi! I am excited to get one but I am planning to install it on my gate. However the distance between my main door and gate is around 60 feet. Will it still connect fine to the homebase providing that the only obstruction is the front house wall?
Yes you can!
Does anyone knows if the base works as a chime also? Rings ? Thanks!
Yes, it does
As always, great review! Thanks..
Looking for a doorbell. Great video review. Only thing i missed is.., can you use multiple phones on this doorbell?? Thanks in advance.
Great video... Does anyone know if the 2 way recording issue has been fixed yet? On the wireless battery doorbell from Eufy?
I just sent that question to Eufy and here is their response: " am sorry that when the user is answering the visitor, the doorbell will not auto record the visitor due to the PIR settings. But users can record the video by himself. Also, the doorbell currently supports two-way audio but only one-way recording."
Please do a review with it wired. Thanks!
Wiring it will only charge the batteries..no changes on the cameras performance. I’ll be comparing this with eufy wired doorbell soon.
@@LifeHackster Can't wait for the comparison video!
Wish Eufy would've enabled different settings if the doorbell was wired.
Still trying to adjust to the no 3s buffer.
Also concerned about the non stop charging of the battery.
Awesome review. Any thoughts on wireless versus wired? Do you have any additional information with respect to battery life.
Thank you.
Thank you!! This was super helpful :)
This was a very helpful review. I don't know if you are still checking comments on this, but if you are, here are a couple of questions. Can it be installed without scanning a QR code (my phone doesn't have this function). And, since it uses one's household wifi network to send videos to the base unit, do I understand correctly that it does NOT use the internet? This is critical for me, because my household wifi network is fine, but my Comcast internet service cuts out frequently. Thanks for a great review.
You can install it without the QR code. You have to manually input the code. It needs internet to function.
@@LifeHackster thank you.
3:10: works with google assistant and amazon alexayyyy 🤣💀
He did that to keep peoples alexa going off im assuming.
need the comparison ASAP!
I know. I’ll be working on it.
Thanks, that was a really good review.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
