The mere fact that we even have to specify that something like a doorbell should be subscription free tells me that there is something very wrong in this world.
you can buy ones that are offline, you have your own home server which stores the footage. But with the subscription all your recordings are stored on the cloud. I am anti subscription generally. Until i got a ring and pay the 2.95 a month to have the footage stored on the cloud. It's peace of mind knowing that any security footage is stored offsite so thieves dont take the evidence with them on a home server.
UPDATE: Eufy put out Firmware 2.2.1.1, which has fixed the stuttering video issue for me. They've also added a WDR (wide dynamic range) toggle for the doorbell. And they've added a "streaming to smart displays" configuration, which has dramatically reduced the latency in the video loading on things like the Google Nest Hub. All more reasons why I recommend their products. They're constantly updating their systems.
@@yjkader, I would say yes since it has good response and the visual area is good size. Try it and let us know how it works for you, and the differences it has to your surveillance camera.
Love the BATTERY version of the Eufy Doorbell. The Homebase 2 acts as a second doorbell, stores videos INSIDE the house on internal storage, and Homebase 2 fully integrates and controls other Eufy security products like motion sensors (I have 5) and cameras in addition to sounding a MOTION ALARM when triggered by the sensors. Security modes are completely configurable in the app for each attached device which is convenient. The Eufy phone app has a "home" mode and an "away" mode that just requires a single button to switch. What isn't mentioned in this review is that Eufy also has a WEBSITE whereby live video from the battery doorcam can be viewed on any device with a browser. That video is delayed 3 seconds from what you see on your phone app but being able to check the video on a PC or smartTV really gives this Eufy product some nice capabilities. Also not mentioned is that "slow" delay with seeing the live camera feed on your Google Display can be fixed with a setting in the app option called "streaming to Alexa/Google" under the settings button on the doorbell camera. If you select "Smart Display First" then it takes only about 6 - 7 seconds to see your livestream on your Google display and your phone image is essentially unaffected. Yes oddly, the BATTERY version offers the most features than the WIRED version....I love mine!
Excellent video. No echo - good pace of talking - pertinent - important info stated with no fluff or needless wasting time. This is the fifth video I've watched today, and I was about to give up. Yours recharged me, and *greatly* helped me make an informed decision. Just superb - all around. Kudos!
We purchased this battery operated door bell that does not require you to pay for monthly cloud storage and has incredible high end features from Amazon. We love everything about it and I wanted I thank you so much for researching and recommending this fantastic product!
I have a Ring 2 and was unhappily with the battery life with all the power hungry features enabled. I bought a charger that came fitted with 5 meters of lead and wired it to the doorbell and plugged it into the hallway socket. I now have 100 percent battery charge most of the time. It's well worth buying if you are able to drill a hole behind the doorbell into your home and have an available outlet.
Great review. A lot of good points. One point that reviewers seem to be missing or glossing over is detection and reporting comparison and testing. From your review and one other, I purchased and installed the wired 2K version. Some things I like, but one thing that is on top of my don’t like list, is the false positives. The wired and battery versions differ in the detection settings. The wired version only has one slider combing several things into sensitivity including AI face and body detection. The battery has two independent settings. My door is 70 ft from the sidewalk and then the 2-lane road, but in clear view. This causes issues with regular motion but mainly with light moving at night, which looks like motion. I get different results after messing with the sensitivity and include zone, but nothing is satisfactory. Right now, I have the sensitivity at 2/5 (body) and a single column for include zone. IR is off with the porch well illuminated at night. It works pretty well this way during the day, only missing a few people, but where the problem lies is, I get about 4 false triggers an hour from sunset to sunrise, making it useless. There is no obvious motion in the image. If I move the sensitivity to 1/5 (head), I get very few false positive triggers, but also miss almost every visitor day or night. Proper alerting function is at the top of the list for my wife. The Ring Pro that I took down has its problems as well (mainly with IR and bugs), but its false positive rate is better than the eufy. What kills the Ring Pro is the unreliable trigger timing and glitches, and the terrible audio experience. The wired eufy 2k audio has a bug with Bluetooth headsets. I like the local encrypted storage without monthly fees. I wish it had RTSP for local streaming.
I was studying the topic of doorbell cameras intensely. Had it narrowed down to the Ring One, the Remo, and the Eufy. Thanks to this excellent review of the Eufy product, my decision was made... I am buying the Battery Powered Eufy. Big thanks, Matt!
The big selling point for me is the Anker privacy and localized storage of your data. With Ring, you're feeding them and 3rd parties all of your video and audio data. Thanks for the review!
I've read that even though the Eufy footage is stored locally, it cannot be accessed if the Eufy servers are offline. I've read a few pages where Eufy users were saying that the Eufy servers were down, and they couldn't access their locally stored videos. Very strange....
I bought mine day one to replace my original Ring Doorbell and haven't looked back. The lack of privacy from Ring is ultimately what pushed me away and let me overlook the minor integration gripes I have, which hopefully go away with future updates. It also looks better and I like that the ring will glow around the button, even when it is not hard-wired.
Your review is top notch! I had my wireless ring doorbell installed today and purchased one for my neighbor. She loves it too. It was inexpensive with great benefits. It makes me feel safer.
Local data, privacy, and no subscription - these are all top hits for me. I agree with you that the battery is an annoyance, but the other features overshadow this shortcoming. As always, thank you for an excellent well thought and well presented review!
Thanks to your recommendation I picked up the doorbell (and the floodlight cam) in Nov. and have been very pleased overall. I also got the 3d printed base you mentioned and let the vendor know how I found out about his product. He hadn't seen your earlier video so I'm guessing he'll be busy again after this one.
I started with the Eufy cam 2 at home and like all good tech it works without a lot of fuss on my part. So when I decided to get a video doorbell for my flooring store in town I watched several reviews by different people and with my experience chose the Eufy battery doorbell. Setup and integration with the app was smooth as expected. Now the not so good! I had it setup to recognize people and objects. I set the activity zone to avoid the road that passes in front of store some 50 yards from the door. I had a truck and trailer pull into the drive; park and walk to the door. He was inside and we had already started for the warehouse before i got a notification. Thats fine considering I am using this mostly for when i'm away. After he left I reviewed the footage and had less than a second of footage that had his face before he opened the door. I expected footage when he entered the parking lot. I really expected footage of him walking to the door. the last person of the day that came in didn't even setoff the camera at all. Also during my initial testing of talking to someone over the microphone from my phone and their ability to hear me of the doorbell speaker was choppy and they couldn't quite hear me over the road noise. The canned responses you can have the system repeat to the person at the door was a lot better. This issue might have more to do with my internet speed and latency than the doorbell itself. The missed recordings I lay more as an issue with the system. I did the firmware update as part of the initial setup. I have only had about 4-5 hours of use with the product and feel that I might have been better off with the security camera setup with its built in speaker/mic capability. I just figured the doorbell would be a more low key approach to security and customer interaction.
Oooh, a 24 vac shock, how dangerous... I would still wire it to the old doorbell wiring just to recharge the battery, I just wonder if it would also ring the old door chime the wiring is connected to.
YES!!! I'm glad to hear that you can use this with an existing door bell chime. I like the sound of my current door bell and I hate the unnatural sounding chimes through those little speakers that normally come with this things. That settles it. I buying one of these.
Matt, Yes indeed, local data & privacy are a high priority for us. I'll miss the IFTTT integration but timeliness of cellphone announcements are a higher priority. Say Matt, will the Hub support 2 or 3 door bells for my back door & garage entries?
I really love this review! I think that I finally found the video doorbell for us. I didn’t want to pay another subscription, like I pay with my Nest camera that has no local storage. I’ll probably get rid of it, too.
Undecided with Matt Ferrell We did buy the doorbell and we love everything about it! It’s just wonderful to know if someone has come up to our door at any time of the day or the night. There’s no guessing if a package has arrived, either. I love that our Apple Watches light up and vibrate whenever someone comes to the door!
You mention if you have existing wiring to go with a wired version and say "for reasons that I'll get to in a bit" but then this subject is never really revisited. What are the reasons?
He did mention some reasons throughout the video. E.g. -Wired version has the 3 second buffer -Wired version has HDR -Wired version has distortion correct -Wired version has on-board storage Those are some of the features you get in the wired version, so if you have provisions to run wires, you're better off getting the wired version for the above features.
@@cooIio69 Yes, but the wired version has data stored within the doorbell. Your security data (record of a crime) is just waiting to be stolen. Security that is insecure - makes no sense, or am I missing something?
Thanks for the review here. I got one to replace my Ring 3 - the video clarity is far superior, and the snapshot feature when someone comes to the door for a quick view is a nice feature too.
I have a cheap ezviz camera I use for my " doorbell". It also has no subscription and was extremely inexpensive. Picture quality is good and the 2 way microphone / speaker works great.
I just purchased one of these. Integration would be good, not essential for me. I don't have existing wiring or an existing chime, so this I think was a good choice for me. Not having to subscribe to a cloud service is also one of the main reasons for buying. I find it odd that Ring and Nest require people to subscribe to enable video storage and it is the main thing that put me off buying from Google or Amazon.
Matt Thanks - Just ordered a doorbell mount. Getting a fit on my siding was my only hitch with my eufy. Install was easy and eufy (wired) does a fantastic job.
We recently changed our home security provider and the wired Skybell® was included. It has the lowest resolution and 720p but, it doesn’t look too bad because the doorbell is perpendicular to the entry door. Our porch is small and the subjects are forced to enter the screen door first then since it’s a small area it captures the face good enough and it activates by motion and notifies us instantly which is desirable. Of course, it comes with its own cloud storage included with the price so, I have no control over the video. Not the best night vision but, good enough. The audio picks up a lot of background noise like wind and road roar. I can chat with the subject at the door which great. It's not the Eufy® so, for now, I’ll deal with it.
Thanks for sharing, Nate. My take on these doorbells is that as long as you can make out faces clearly, that's all that matters. That's part of why I don't see some of the low frame rate issues as real issues. You can still make people out and talk to them in real-time.
I use eufy wireless cctv and they are really good ,as for there doorbell it's very easy to remove it with the tool provided then charge. They say 6 month battery right but for arguments sake lets say it lasts 3 months between charge at 5hrs per. 4 time charge per year at a total of say 20hrs is not a problem for most people so I will definitely be buying that one especially with it's local storage. Great review btw.
@@UndecidedMF I think you have just saved me buying the wired version. I bought the 4 pack EUFY HD camera setup yesterday. I now want their doorbell too and will also get Google Nest. Becoming a Techy !! BUT, will the 'unwired version' ring a chime on my HD hub ie do I just buy the add on doorbell or do I need to buy a complete doorbell kit with its own hone base for the chime to work? If I buy a wired version and use a solar panel to trickle charge the doorbell, will that work if I just get an add on wired version or again, do I need to buy a compete kit as if I didn't have the security camera home base. Sorry for all the questions.
So glad I came across your review! I'm in the market for a doorbell camera and needed one without a subscription and one that would work with my Amazon Echo. I'm removing the Blink package from my cart as we speak. Thank you!
I realize this is long after the video was posted. Last Christmas I received a Ring Peephole camera as a gift with an extra battery. The second battery is very handy. As you mentioned, it mostly records people walking away. My door faces the street so it rings with all the passing cars. Without the subscription it's even more useless. Last night I was charging up a new Eufy 2k battery doorbell which will be installed this morning. I opted for the battery version because I like the homebase storage rather than on the device. I hope it is better at detecting movement directly toward it. I know that is a limitation of PIR detection.
Thanks Matt for the great video!! I want to buy this doorbell for my house but I have a question. My house currently has a wired doorbell and I would like to replace it with the Eufy wired doorbell but I like the HomeBase that comes with the battery powered doorbell. You mentioned in your video that you should not wire the battery doorbell. My question is why?
I purchased the Battery Powered doorbell after asking Eufy that question. You can wire it in. I liked the idea the recordings were inside on the Home Base versus outside in the doorbell enough to pay the added $40 for the Battery powered unit. It works just fine and in fact the installation guide shows you both step by step for Battery and Hard Wired.
Great review, i would say one of the only things your missing which was why i watched your whole video for is the battery life, realistic, so showing maybe how events it recorded for you over how many days and what battery percentage it used. I heard for some people you need to charge it after 30 days, i think it depends on how many recordings it does. Disabling motion detection can massively safe battery, with that said can you schedule motion on a timer? So record motion at night and not during day? But during day it records soon as button is pressed? 🤷🏻♂️ the main concern is battery life, how long does it actually last in real world because what they advertise is never realistic, same for the 365 cams
I have the Ring doorbell 2 but really don't like paying the monthly fee. I thought the eufy doorbell would be a good swap until I saw the UA-cam review comments. There is no physical protection for the eufy doorbell similar to Ring doorbell with the security screw and there is no replacement scheme from eufy either if the doorbell is stolen. Without a physical security mechanism, the doorbell can be stolen quite easily. Also I have doubts if the recording on the hub will be kept if there is no doorbell connected any longer i.e the thief Resets the doorbell. This is the case with eufycams such as eufycam 2 Pro. Some users tried out this and had the dire consequences. This makes the whole security setup null and void. I would love to hear if anybody has tried this and the result was different, may be eufy could have had SW patch. My view is that if the HW has been designed such that the Reset is hard wired to restart the firmware and thus no longer keeps the last pairing. Having read numerous such reports, I believe the eufycams fall far short of what is desirable. Thanks and look forward to your responses.
Im done with Ring my Ring 3 doorbell died 1 week after the warranty ran out. This Eufy doorbell is the one I`ve ordered after a lot of research, I hope it last a lot longer than a year.
Thanks for the great video! I am returning my ring doorbell 3 to get this this weekend. I got the ring expecting it to capture videos 100% of the time. But I had same problem you mentioned with the ring, the ring will capture only the person walking away, or just a black video! Disappointed at the ring!
Thanks for the review, Matt. I don't care if my doorbell video is in the cloud but I do mind having another monthly/annual bill just for doorbell video. I've gone >50 years without a video doorbell so why do I want to add a another bill. That said, this might be the way to go, stored locally.
Yeah, it’s a minor annoyance for sure. But the reason I had two batteries for ring wasn’t fear of missing a doorbell ring. Just continence. One simple swap in 30 seconds and you’re done. Less steps.
Oh, for goodness sake. A Pi zero W and a waterproof project case, a button and the pi camera. You can even run it on a solar panel or, if you're that way inclined, mount a cheap inductive charger on the inside of the doorframe.
I'm using a Ring doorbell and alerts are not consistent. I really want to find something that is local and has integration with RTSP and a local API for use in smart home platforms like Home Assistant, it would be amazing if Eufy rolled out a software update with these features
I never thought I could get a video doorbell until I learned there was an option with local storage. Privacy is my #1 issue with them and I do not like how open others are with sharing videos from my property.
Should I go with the old wired version or the new version? I do have wiring available to hardwire it. These are $135 vs $170 right now. I'm leaning towards the old wired version because of what you said about the 3-second pre-buffer and also the distortion control. I do like that the wired version does save the footage to the base station. But i also already have the Eufy Cam 2 which does the same already. I just wanted a second camera on my front door. Also what's the difference between HDR and WDR?
I have the original Ring, in fairness it has to be at least 5 years old, but no wiring, so I used to have to charge it when new about every 2 months, now about every 3 weeks, this looks like a good option
1. Have they fixed the studering and drop frame on the battery version? 2. I cant decide between the battery version or the wired version: 16gb home based storage but slopoy video quality vs 3secs pre record and smoother video
He wont reply you as it goes against eufy. Battery version produce very choppy night time video on the other hand wired version doesn't support 2 way audio recording and doesn't support hombase for remote recording. I have asked so many youtuber and no one replied . So buy anything but Eufy. , unless they end up improving the night time video quality and (wireless) and support 2 way audio recording and home-base support (wired version).
Hey y'all I do love my battery powered Eufy doorbell just installed it yesterday seems to work for what I need. However, unlike the claims that it would hook up with Google assist and Alexa, the hookup was poor if it even connected at all. This advertisement is on there packaging and on the web site. Im still glad that I purchased it as compared to the other battery powered models.
Very nice review. I just set one up and love it I love the local storage and everything about it. I will be adding the driveway lite/cam to the network as well a couple other cameras. once I got everything set up it prompted me for the firmware update . So far I wouldn't choose anything else. Again very nice review. As I am a tech guy and love all the gadgets I am slowly converting to a smart home . While the upfront costs are a hit to the wallet it's so worth it. just do a little at a time so your not overwhelmed . and do your research like watching Matt's reviews
I wished I’ve watched you before I bought my ring pro. Oh well, I’ll stick with ring for right now, until a new and updated doorbells comes out in the future. Thanks for a great videos.
hi matt great job on the eufy video yes local storage keeps big bro at bay. i am going to use the eufy as a redundant backup to a fully wired home with iso wifi for less possible penetration's fyi alot of people dont know ring does not have to ask to use your cloud footage if they can link footage to a crime my uncle found that out. thanks
Matt, another great video that I enjoyed. You have a great speaking voice and sincere and likable video presence. And your product knowledge of comparisons and reviews are great! I was going to say you have "pretty hands" --haha, until i realized it had to be your wife doing the demonstrations with the products. Tell her that her hands present well----haha. Keep up the good work!
Hi Matt, have you heard of the Kuna Smart Security Light They have a door bell with video with dual cameras, I only own the Smart Security Light. I have two. One attached to the side of the garage wall. And the other above my door way. They work great but are on wifi and built in power. I replaced my old outdoor light with them. No need for a door bell cam. Great info on you video as always.
The only reason why I can't use it is because it still isn't sold in my country or surrounding countries 😭. Only camera's for now. Been waiting since your last review.
Looks like a really great device. Wyze has said they are going to release a video doorbell so I'll wait until that comes out before deciding which to buy.
Changed from Ring to Eufy on this recommendation. Nice piece of kit, but the support is terrible! App does not setup up well. If you try to contact Support their phone line is only open 6am to 11am GMT and, when you call, you can hang in a queue for 30 minutes with no answer. The auto answer system says you can leave your number (10 digits only so, for the UK, you have to drop the leading 0) and they will call you back. Which, of course, they don't! By which time it is 11am and they are closed until tomorrow. I would recommend sticking with Arlo until the Customer Service improves.
No monitoring as well with the eufy which is fine in most cases. I can say I owned eufy and currently the ring. The one thing I can say about the eufy vs the ring the picture quality is way better with the eufy. It's like night and day. The reason I went with the ring is that they have a whole community within their Ring app where you can share videos finds pets etcetera with everyone else who has a ring. It's something you have to see yourself if you haven't already I find that to be amazing. Also, the ring security will soon cancel out my Adt subscription for just 10 dollars a month vs 40 a month with adt. Also if you have the pulse Adt, The ring can pair with it. Ring also pairs with Amazon and I have those devices which made using them with the ring so much easier than the eufy. Eufy is cheap in price and better quality videos but it's just too much self doing required from me and I would rather it all be automatic with little input from me. Overall if the ring would just make a 4k camera this will be a no-brainer to go with them. Eufy is great they just lack certain features I like as that ring offers
Ah... I hear you mention that with the battery-version of the Eufy doorbell, there is a 'proprietary' wireless protocol between the Doorbell and the homebase? Thanks! I was just looking for this info. Situation in my house: I DO have existing doorbell wiring, and I would be inclined to use the 'nativ' wired version from Eufy. But that would mean, the doorbell itself has to connect to my WIFI network. But the doorbell position next to my front door, right in line with a thick wall behind the door frame, my front door is a total WIFI blank spot. So this would meen I'd have to buy an additional WIFI accesspoint, only for the doorbell. So using this version of the Eufy doorbell would instantly solve the issue! Only other thing is RTSP support. I know that with the wired doorbell, people still complain there is no RTSP support for e.g. Synology. I see you mention that it is not available here, either (although I take it, the homebox would provide this RTSP connectivity, but still only for the regular cam? Shame..... )
I love mine very much I tried them all. This is the only good one! I hope it keeps working as well cause it's a gem! The others are just gagets. The only little problem was it's wifi range isn't too good. I had to put the home closer to the doorbell which was easy for me but for someone else it might not be
Good review considering the complicated state of the beast. For now we have to spend too much time figuring out the various pros and cons of doorbells. Something like Unit Size isn't even mentioned but for me the doorbell must be narrow AND battery run.
Another issue that was found is when the doorbell picks up motion and starts recording, but someone rings the bell, it stops the recording when the live feed starts. In addition as soon as the 2 way communication is started the video and audio recording stops. Which kind of defeats the purpose if you want a recording of an unwanted interaction at the door. This “error” lead to massive delays in communication with both parties wondering if the audio was working at all. This has been posted on forums as well as picked up by another reviewer. Has the new firmware update addressed these issues yet?
Thank you for your help; Because of you I will Cancel my installation with ADT Security. They will be pissed 😤 off. I am going to tell them you are the reason why. I hope 🤞 you have a great security system because they are going to come after you. You caused the $480.00 in equipment and $54.00 a month in subscription. Watch Out;😁😁
Nice job on the video. As a research a doorbell option, the non-cloud based solutions are at the top of my list. I think the Eufy and Amcrest are pretty close to what I want. The second priority on my list is integration with Alexa, Apple Home, or Google Home. Unfortunately, their integration with Alexa is too basic and too slow to be of any real use. Still searching, and still hoping... Thanks again for posting your excellent review.
Seems like a really good doorbell. Since it's compatible with Google Assistant, can I use my Google Mini speakers as a chime alert? Also, when someone rings the bell, will it show up on my Google Home Hub screen?
This sounds like a great system for those of us that choose not to let Google and Apple run our home. I specifically was looking for a camera that was not wi-fi accessible and would operate independently of smart home services. Thanks for the informative review.
Matt s settings video for the Eufy settings would be great. I bought them for the same reasons as you, but seem to not be able to get them set just right. Thanks
I am using the Uniden DB1 but since december 2020, the notification stopped working and support is beyond useless stating that my devices have too advanced firmware to receive the notifications which is false as older devices do not receive them anymore too! I may switch to Eufy actually!
The mere fact that we even have to specify that something like a doorbell should be subscription free tells me that there is something very wrong in this world.

Can the eufy doorbell replace a a surveillance camera for the front porch?
@@yjkader, I would say yes since it has good response and the visual area is good size. Try it and let us know how it works for you, and the differences it has to your surveillance camera.
Thanks for this update!
y K It does not record all of the time, only when it’s triggered by parameters that you’ve chosen.
What if you already have a homebase, can you get the doorbell without the homebase?

The big selling point for me is the Anker privacy and localized storage of your data. With Ring, you're feeding them and 3rd parties all of your video and audio data. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching. That’s the biggest selling point for me too.
How about Chinese servers? Is this another Trojan Horse ???
I've read that even though the Eufy footage is stored locally, it cannot be accessed if the Eufy servers are offline. I've read a few pages where Eufy users were saying that the Eufy servers were down, and they couldn't access their locally stored videos. Very strange....
I bought mine day one to replace my original Ring Doorbell and haven't looked back. The lack of privacy from Ring is ultimately what pushed me away and let me overlook the minor integration gripes I have, which hopefully go away with future updates. It also looks better and I like that the ring will glow around the button, even when it is not hard-wired.
Thanks for sharing. And agreed, there are benefits that outweigh the lack of integrations.
Totally agree, No monthly fee and excellent notification and facial tracking.
👍
Your review is top notch! I had my wireless ring doorbell installed today and purchased one for my neighbor. She loves it too. It was inexpensive with great benefits. It makes me feel safer.
Local data, privacy, and no subscription - these are all top hits for me. I agree with you that the battery is an annoyance, but the other features overshadow this shortcoming. As always, thank you for an excellent well thought and well presented review!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the vid! The need for a subscription was the reason I never invested into the other manufactures. Privacy is paramount.
A doorbell camera that doesn’t require me to short circuit my existing chime box. Plus no subscription. I think this is for me
It's great. You push the Sync button and mount it. No subscription needed. No brainer choice.
Oooh, a 24 vac shock, how dangerous... I would still wire it to the old doorbell wiring just to recharge the battery, I just wonder if it would also ring the old door chime the wiring is connected to.
Wish this was out last week when I watched your last video, good thing I went with this one, installed last night love it so far
YES!!! I'm glad to hear that you can use this with an existing door bell chime. I like the sound of my current door bell and I hate the unnatural sounding chimes through those little speakers that normally come with this things. That settles it. I buying one of these.
Ha! I hate the artificial chimes too.
Matt,
Yes indeed, local data & privacy are a high priority for us. I'll miss the IFTTT integration but timeliness of cellphone announcements are a higher priority.
Say Matt, will the Hub support 2 or 3 door bells for my back door & garage entries?
I wish the video producer would answer some of these questions, even if he just says IDK ...
I really love this review! I think that I finally found the video doorbell for us. I didn’t want to pay another subscription, like I pay with my Nest camera that has no local storage. I’ll probably get rid of it, too.
Live the subscription free lifestyle! Thanks for watching, Mitchell.
Didn’t know this type of doorbell existed. Thanks for reviewing it.
I have a Ring 2. I just use 3M double sided tape and stuck it to my door. Works perfectly.
Wonder how long it will be until someone steels it
@@will0499 steals* and good luck to them. I live in a very Republican area. I leave my doors unlocked 24/7. No crime here.
You mention if you have existing wiring to go with a wired version and say "for reasons that I'll get to in a bit" but then this subject is never really revisited. What are the reasons?
He did mention some reasons throughout the video. E.g.
-Wired version has the 3 second buffer
-Wired version has HDR
-Wired version has distortion correct
-Wired version has on-board storage
Those are some of the features you get in the wired version, so if you have provisions to run wires, you're better off getting the wired version for the above features.
I have a ring doorbell and sometimes miss the person facing the camera but then get them walking away. May try the Eufy.
That happened A LOT on my Ring too. Haven’t had that issue with this one.
Yes me too. It's useless.
I have a cheap ezviz camera I use for my " doorbell". It also has no subscription and was extremely inexpensive. Picture quality is good and the 2 way microphone / speaker works great.
Nice!
Can you see who's at your door even away from home while traveling on your phone through an app. Might have missed this.
Thanks for your help.
Yes
As long as your WiFi at home is working you can access the footage from any location.
Great review Matt! Congrats on your 100k plaque i saw in the background there. :)
Thanks, Steve!
Just installed this doorbell last week and we love it. Better than the Ring we had when we moved in.
The most impressive takeaway from this review is the fact that Matt gets his mail delivered at 11:30 AM!
Ha!
That is amazing.
@@shadwell749 And to his door no less...no long walk to the mailbox...:)
Why not contact Skybell and see about an ugrade to their 1080 HD camera, you'll get a discount.
This was a great buy for me. Thank for your help, because of you I picked the Eufy Battery wireless doorbell!

Glad I could help!
Why don’t they put a small Solar panel to trickle charge the battery?
There are third parties that make solar panels for doorbells that you can use. Clever solution that you can add on to pretty much any of them.
Even though I don't need a video doorbell, that was a great review & worth knowing about....👍👍
Thanks for watching!
So glad I came across your review! I'm in the market for a doorbell camera and needed one without a subscription and one that would work with my Amazon Echo. I'm removing the Blink package from my cart as we speak. Thank you!
Ring gives all your recordings to a third party to review and catalogue into a database.
Eufy for the win.
Eufy is a product line owned by Anker, a Chinese electronics brand based in Shenzhen, China.. in case anyone thinks going with Eufy is a privacy-win.
Honestly...what could they do with footage of people coming to your door?
@@user-cv3gd2wr5q - you think it doesn't turn on every time you enter & leave? Everyone, everyday, 24/7...okay
@@user-cv3gd2wr5q they will come to your door and burn your house down I heard. Happened to my friends uncles boss’s daughter.
Thanks for your well done review. I’ve been researching for quite awhile, and you helped me decide. Thanks again.
Thank you for all the information.
PS you look sketchy at night with the knit Cappy!
I live in a timeline where there are subscriptions for doorbells.
Gotta pay for tech support somehow TBF, but yeah.... weird stuff.
Surprised that they don't ring a rolling 24 hours or one week for free as standard. Especially as storage gets cheaper over time.
I purchased one just now because of your review.
Thanks for the great video! I am returning my ring doorbell 3 to get this this weekend. I got the ring expecting it to capture videos 100% of the time. But I had same problem you mentioned with the ring, the ring will capture only the person walking away, or just a black video! Disappointed at the ring!
Great review, Matt - you are a pro at this!
👍 Thanks so much!
I wish they would release these in the UK.
I have three Eufy battery video doorbells that I installed about two months ago. They work great.
Awesome to hear.
Thanks for the review, Matt. I don't care if my doorbell video is in the cloud but I do mind having another monthly/annual bill just for doorbell video. I've gone >50 years without a video doorbell so why do I want to add a another bill. That said, this might be the way to go, stored locally.
Buying a 2nd battery for a 5month swap seems paranoid. As you said, charge it over night... who gonna come at your door precisely on that night.
Yeah, it’s a minor annoyance for sure. But the reason I had two batteries for ring wasn’t fear of missing a doorbell ring. Just continence. One simple swap in 30 seconds and you’re done. Less steps.
Is there any notification that the battery is low or dead so you can ensure you recharge at a convenient time?
Oh, for goodness sake. A Pi zero W and a waterproof project case, a button and the pi camera. You can even run it on a solar panel or, if you're that way inclined, mount a cheap inductive charger on the inside of the doorframe.
I'm using a Ring doorbell and alerts are not consistent. I really want to find something that is local and has integration with RTSP and a local API for use in smart home platforms like Home Assistant, it would be amazing if Eufy rolled out a software update with these features
Preach it brother! I really hope they roll out RTSP support/local APIs for all of their products ... not just the EufyCams.
Good video helped me a choice on which one to buy (eufy) . One thing I done is run the USB through my mail box to outlet so no need to remove
Great review on the Eufy Doorbell! I’m patiently waiting on HomeKit support, which hopefully happens sooner rather than later.
If that’s something you want, waiting is a good call. I really hope they add it.
Go with the wired version. The battery drains constantly
@@AnonymousAnonymous-kf7cg I ended up gettin the wired model. Been workin great for over a year!
I have the original Ring, in fairness it has to be at least 5 years old, but no wiring, so I used to have to charge it when new about every 2 months, now about every 3 weeks, this looks like a good option
1. Have they fixed the studering and drop frame on the battery version?
2. I cant decide between the battery version or the wired version:
16gb home based storage but slopoy video quality vs 3secs pre record and smoother video
Viewing my Eufy camera feeds on my FireTV happens relatively quickly - takes about 5 to 10 seconds.
That’s definitely faster than what I’m seeing on the Google Nest Hub.
Mine is similar requesting the camera view on Echo Show 8 (5-10 secs). Also the same for my Blink XT2.
I wish they would fiddle with the casing a bit so the doorbell enclosure looked more like a HAL 9000 terminal. I'd surely buy one then!
Ha! It’s so close.

How you liking the Ring Pro? You still wish you went eufy?
I Think that i'll wait until black Friday or cyber monday to get this, not really looking to pay $200 for doorbell right now.
hi matt great job on the eufy video yes local storage keeps big bro at bay. i am going to use the eufy as a redundant backup to a fully wired home with iso wifi for less possible penetration's fyi alot of people dont know ring does not have to ask to use your cloud footage if they can link footage to a crime my uncle found that out. thanks
Eufy's home automation products and self storage is my selling point.
I haven’t heard of Kuna ... thanks for the heads up. Looks really interesting.
The only reason why I can't use it is because it still isn't sold in my country or surrounding countries 😭. Only camera's for now. Been waiting since your last review.
Ugh ... still waiting. Curious what the hold up is.
Very useful video. Thank you

When?

Thank you for the Celsius consideration
I don’t always do a good job including that ... but I try.
Shame..... )
I found the latency on both the notifications and the video to be unacceptable. I'll be trying out the Amcrest today.
How do these expensive doorbells not get stolen or vandalized?
If you purchase a Ring doorbell and if it is stolen and you have a police report it will be replaced!
Nice review, I'll see if this is available in the UK. Thanks
Wired doorbells can handle cold weather better due to the constant power going into it. It generates a little more heat than the wireless ones.
Seems like a really good doorbell. Since it's compatible with Google Assistant, can I use my Google Mini speakers as a chime alert? Also, when someone rings the bell, will it show up on my Google Home Hub screen?
Security top requirment. I have two of their products love these products so easy to use.
Appreciate your insight and delivery of the content :). Subscribed!
Thanks, Max!
This sounds like a great system for those of us that choose not to let Google and Apple run our home. I specifically was looking for a camera that was not wi-fi accessible and would operate independently of smart home services. Thanks for the informative review.
If they allow you to store video on the hub for the wired version then I'm sold
I’ve asked them about that and would love it too.
Agreed!
As always, phenomenal analysis!
