TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Welcome again to the island food paradise of Taiwan, and today we’re going on a Taiwanese street food tour but focusing on some of the intense wok fired dishes of Taiwan including the King of Fried Rice!!
1. Market Stir Fry 龍記炒燴: goo.gl/maps/G76f2NwgbZsLXrNg8 - First to begin this Taiwanese food tour we stopped off at a market across the street from Taiwan University. At lunch the market transforms into a massive food court with all things Taiwanese food you can imagine. But we headed to the back of the market to go to a famous stir fry stall where they make everything fresh to order. A few of their specialties are fried noodles and egg and beef in a sauce over rice. Food was delicious!
Total price - 320 TWD ($10.57)
2. Oyster omelet (廣州街夜市香脆蚵仔煎): goo.gl/maps/uneE6Gk9LLE8FduY7 - Next up, another Taiwan street food classic - the oyster omelet. They fry it on a huge iron griddle feeding it lard as they go. One of the unique things about a Taiwanese oyster omelet is that they serve it with a big puddle of miso tomato sauce in the center. Additionally some of the highlights here are the plump poached oysters and the simple ginger soup.
Total price - 520 TWD ($17.18)
3. Fried Rice Restaurant (後港一路蛋炒飯): goo.gl/maps/XroqUXBp722FQseS8 - But really, the absolute highlight was going to Taiwan’s king of fried rice. As soon as I arrived they started making a batch of 45 plates at a time on one griddle. We got to see the full process as they added in 45 eggs, a bag of shrimp, cabbage, sauce, and kilos of rice. It was an amusement park of fried rice - a mountain of fried rice. And the owners are extremely friendly!
Total price - 180 TWD ($5.95)
This turned out to be an amazing Taiwan street food tour in Taipei. I loved the friendly owners and the delicious taste of the breath of the wok!

Taiwanese street food is one of the best in the world. Thanks Mark for showing us all of these amazing foods.
@ArabicReja I do not think so, the Chinese regime has been making China a very great nation . Taiwanese is just Chinese living in the Province of Taiwan .
@@cashcash5995 haha the typical response we get from a 50 cent warrior.
@@cashcash5995 you working for winnie the pooh?
@Arabic Reja always gotta make it political
@@Jishiben09 you guys are lame come up with something else
I used to cook like that with a wok. Australian in a small town, 12 Chinese population so the local Chinese cook trained us locals to cook his food. Did it for 6 years. Best job I ever had. I'll never forget you Jimmy Fung. Set me up for life with basic cooking knowledge.
Glad to hear. Chinese are great at teaching, very disciplined.
Did you find it difficult? I learned how to cook with a wok when I was a kid, first dish my Mum made me master was Fried Rice, for someone who has never used one before it takes some getting used to as there really is no equivalent for Woks in western cooking.
I am Aussie! Love my WOK for Stir Fry especially.
Good for you
cooking with wok on high heat is really interesting and also challenging cuz every single second counts
OMG!! That's my home, I lived there! Damn! I didn't expect that Mark will come! Can't imagine Mark sat on the street and eat, just like ppl who lived there. What a legend!
I am so glad he came here, and it makes me want to eat some street food right away 🙂
Mark came to Taiwan before. He said that in his QA video. I’m hyped he came to Taiwan again. Definitely going to try that beef noodle when I visit Taipei.
真的超奇妙的感覺😂 可惜那天沒能遇到他
That’s so cool!!
Great to hear that!
Cooks take pride on what they cook, looks delicious 😋 😍. There vegetables looks so healthy and green. You are eating healthy foods 😋 that always looks delicious 😋
Taiwanese People are awesome! Good Culture especially the food.
That first guy must be a Master Wok Chef! He was whipping the fried rice like a magician✨ The guy who cooked up that fried rice towards the end is the most skilled chef ever to whip up 45 plates of 🍤 fried rice which is one of my absolute favorites blessings to that fantastic chef. The best noodles I ever had was a elder couple from Taiwan & they was very popular in my childhood area, they even babysit me and my sister a few times, unfortunately due to aging they passed on. I miss them & their food sooo very much. Bless their souls & family & forever will be loved & missed.😢🍜
I know - these chefs know what they are doing, on another level! And I love that they still focus on such simple dishes. It's all about the details!
Thank you very much!
I love Taiwan so much! Friendly and very kind local peoples, delicious foods, amazing country! Can't wait to travel there again this summer!
friendly to westerners not to other asians. The discrimination is bad just like singapore
@@topshelf30 I'm Taiwanese and I have to say you're right. But not so precise. We're also friendly to Korean and Japanese.
Friendly only to white skinned people
Welcome to Taiwan
@@topshelf30 Sorry for your bad experience. But I'm Asian too. I visited Taiwan in summer 2019 with my son and friend and we just got so much help from friendly and kind taiwanese peoples. I think you can find discrimination in any country and with anyone, but not everyone.
Just back from Taiwan…what a place, had a great time there.
Jealous that you just got to go!! I need to make a plan to go again... the food, the scenery, the people... all so wonderful.
I’m so jealous! I’d love to visit one day!!

I love Taiwanese street foods and their sweets like grass jelly with taro.Must not forget fresh squeezed tropical fruit juice🥭🍉🍊 and small pineapple cake🍍 for souvenir.
I am from Taipei, Taiwan. This oyster omelette is the best I have ever eaten. The oysters are very fresh and delicious.

Same here - miss it oh so very much!!
How i wish i can go different places like you and try different kind of foods in every country...thats only be a dream...
Hey Mark, I've been following you for years but today I really love how you did the close-up on the wok, it changed the whole effect! You should do more of that!
Thank you Mark for introducing amazing Taiwanese food to the world.
I miss all the great food from Taiwan! Great choices!
The fact that we get free food & travel videos on UA-cam by Mark is truly a gift. 👏👏👏
I miss Taiwan so much, the food there is unbeatable and because it has proper food sanitation and health laws I am much less likely to get diarrhoea or food poisoning as opposed to when I am visiting China, also because everyone speaks Mandarin there is no Language barrier for me.
Wow that chef paid respect to the viewer's when he didn't charge for the meal. That was awesome ! Now I want to go!
Dont expect to get a free meal !!! :)
@@ans7031Was thinking the same, would go outta business doing that all the time.
Of course. These are pre-planned. They know Mark was coming to taste their food.
One free meal doesn't compare to a hundred fold increase in sales because their restaurant was featured on Mark's show.
Welcome to Taiwan and enjoy the great food and the nice people.
Very nice people! Wonderful place 🙂
Truly a culinary adventure! Thanks for showcasing the great food from Taiwan
I truly, truly love Taiwanese oyster omelet. Very happy it's being featured!!
The worst food poisoning I’ve ever had in my life was from a Shida Night Market oyster omelet lol I thought I was going to die. I puked for like 14 hours. Still love them in spite of my brush with death haha
@I wow, that sounds horrible! I once had a similar (slightly more mild) experience from a meal at an open air market in Seoul, South Korea - I don't hold any grudges, and I'd go back 🙂 Just with a touch more caution next time 😅
Another amazing video, Mark! Appreciate the hard work!
You can see the color and ingredients that makes fried rice tastes so delicious, the chef takes what he’s been taught , and cooks awoken of art. The oysters omelette, haves a lot of flavor and the sauce helps you get the tastes you’re looking for.
Hi Mark: I've been watching your videos for a few years and love them all. I really like the slightly different format your using on this one - the choice of music and graphics is great! And the street food if Taiwan looks wonderful - that oyster omlette and friend rice - wow!
Dear Mark,
it's so nice to see again and again what delicious things there are in this world! There are so many good people who make life enjoyable and we have so many opportunities to have a good time... luckily... let's be thankful for that! ... and let's be thankful for our good life ... and that you show us how we can always have a good time ... food is something very special, a good source of good feelings! Fried rice is also part of it... and oysters with scrambled eggs... and oyster soup... Thank you!
Always such a fabulous video with extremely well done editing and production. Enjoy your take on food and emphasize preparation. Additionally, you always praise the cook/chef. Makes every video next level.
Big time agreement here. Mark always gives props to the people behind the food, and he doesn't skip over the love that goes into the cooking process!
We hope you're staying safe, Mark. Taiwan sure has one of the best foods. The variety of choices is something not a lot of countries can pull off. Keep up the good work.
one of the safest countries in the world... can walk out alone at night at 3 am or leave your devices in a public space or lose your wallet (someone will return it) and ultra friendly people
Thank you very much Sophia, all going well!
Gotta watch out the traffic tho😂

Greetings from So CA! You’re my fave International Food You Tube blogger. I love your excitement for the different foods and your vibe!
Looks amazing!
Taiwanese street food is renowned around the world for its unique flavors and techniques, and the King of Fried Rice is no exception. This skilled chef can cook up to 45 plates of fried rice at a time, creating a delicious and satisfying meal that is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. With his expertise in the kitchen and his dedication to quality ingredients, the King of Fried Rice has become a staple of Taiwanese street food culture.
One of the most interesting things about the King of Fried Rice is his use of a large metal wok to cook his dishes. This traditional method of cooking allows for high heat and quick cooking times, ensuring that the rice and other ingredients are perfectly cooked every time. Watching the chef work his magic is a sight to behold, as he expertly flips and tosses the ingredients in the wok, creating a flavorful and aromatic dish that is sure to delight your taste buds. Whether you are a fan of traditional fried rice or you are looking to try something new and exciting, the King of Fried Rice is a must-visit spot on your next trip to Taiwan.
Not all are "street food".
Edit
Mark - great to see you enjoying Taiwan! I loved living (and eating) there as an exchange student.
By the way - travel to mainland China is possible again, after three years of closed borders. You should head over there again. So much great food!!!!
I can see how memorizing it would be!!!
I say again, thank you for these videos, you're so interesting
Another amazing video 😋 😋
Mark is doing all the right things for experiencing Taiwanese food. Start from the street and close to the locals.

Welcome to Taiwan Mark! The “spinach” you had at the first food stall is actually snow pea shoots. Love it 🤤
The first time I tried snow pea shoots in Taipei, I thought to myself - "I need more of this vegetable in my life!" 😅 so good!
@@FlavorofMind I love the earthy taste of the snow pea shoots too! My favorite though is the yam/sweet potato leaves. Have you tried it?
@ilove6kies I have definitely tried sweet potato stems in Korea (they're great!) but don't think I've tried in Taiwan. But I sure can put it on my list 🙂
i buy them all the time at the asian supermarket. Although a bit expensive I don't mind they are so good.
Its spinach,i eat at there last week.
This food looks so good right now.
I would bury myself in that fried rice LOL! Looks so good!
🤣 same feeling here!
welcome back mark!!! TAIWAN has the best food i ever had and the friendliest people i ever met! i had a much better time in Taiwan than i did Japan
I agree about the friendliness - there is a relaxed warmth to Taiwan that really left an impression on me! (And of course the food was off the charts!)

Love the way you eat bro...always I feel hungry when I watched your videos....man your great...enjoy and take care.
The oyster omlett looks amazing!!!! I love the version i've had in Thailand as well.
The oyester omelet in the movie is similar to thailand crispy version (thong lo Hoi Tod Chaw Lae) , different sauce. hope you can try Taiwan version too :)

Hey Mark,Blessing bro,it always amazes me as to the amount of food you eat and don't get "BIG"..you are on a next level of eating... continue to grow your channel ..."Trinidad and Tobago" looking at yuh🔴⚪⚫
It’s not how much you eat but when you eat that’s the most important for weight.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching them show off their craft! 🙂
What a nice video Mark and what a yummie food in taipay thanksfor charing👍🙏
In addition to street foods, hopefully you'll get a chance to try some of the traditional Taiwanese banquet dishes, they are really good as well.
The breath of the wok🤣😂👍 nothing but love from here. There’s nothing like something that’s just cooked to the perfection. The vegetables are not over done, and there’s still some crisp Ness and they’re not dead and soggy. Well done sir thank you.
Great as always...big fan
Another delicious episode, Mark!
Well done!!! 😁😁😁
That fried rice looks soooo freaking good! lol
I know... I'm dying of jealousy over here! 🤣

Making me feel really hungry right now 😋
Love the intro and music !
any idea what the music is?
Just came back from Taiwan. In my opinion, probably best food for the price in the world. My father in law is a fish monger, and we were eating huge scallops, abalone, sashimi, etc. taiwanese pastry also way underrated. Friends and relatives were treating us to best tea in my life. Not one single bad or even average meal. Luckily or luckily, they were having a Covid surge and me and my wife caught it. Unfortunately, lost smell for like 2 wk, which was a shame. But also fortunate since I only gained 5 lbs instead of 15 lbs.
I'm not too sure about Oyster omelette but would love give it a try
I love oysters I would love to try this omelette looks delicious
I love them too, and I can attest - this dish is heavenly! Can't wait to try again next time I'm in Taiwan!
