@@jessicasopranonotes yay! There is little talk of WHY the music affects any of us - and its different elements for everyone - but at any moment, so many things are available for the artist to use - people talk about Lara Fabian or Dimash using everything. They are remarkable, but the truth is that all of those things are available but few singers are either aware, or choose to focus on something else. Integration of all those available things...rhythm , stage movement/energy, timbre, note length, register choices (yes, choice - you reviewers who just say ITS IMPOSSIBLE!)...use it all.
Look at the time it took her to come back from her character after she was done with singing. That's a master class in interpretation. She's not only singing, she's living the songs she's interpreting (whether hers or covers).
Agreed. Plus just the fact that she writes and co-composes 90% of her music is just genious. Please do react to Broken Vow ( live from Lara with love ) as suggested by Kayden 😀
@Fedor Ivanov Just an aside; when Jackie Evancho was 10 years old, her producer David Foster was searching for songs for Jackie to sing at her first Public Broadcast Special. He contacted Lara about her song 'Broken Vow' and asked her if she would rewrite it for Jackie because he said it was "too mature" for her. Lara wrote it in French about environmental decline because that was Jackie's big thing back then(she is 20 years old now and STILL into it). Needless to say, 'Imaginer' went over big with the audience that night.
I find this woman to outshine some of the biggest current musical voices. Her ability outshines Mariah with her running up and down the scales yet emotionless. Barbra Striesand who has an exquisite way of phrasing, Celine the woman with the incredible pitch and arrive at notes very high effortlessly. Lara is a magnificent vocalist, a one of a kind story teller as if we are hearing her pain and passion for the very first time. In my opinion she is the very best female vocalist to come by in a very long time. Thank you doe showcasing this wonderful woman.
This performance made the song to a monument, cast in concrete. She Mastered the song. Even Lara herself can not repeat it. Unique. And I love your comment. You clearly know what you are talking about. Thank you.
The original singer of this song is Serge Lama. “Je suis Malade” was composed by Serge Lama himself and his friend Alice Dona and is based on an “impossible” love. The song I am sick is inspired by a true heartache by Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love imposes itself as a certainty, but they are neither free: he married in 1968 Daisy Brun his press officer, she is married and the mother of a little boy. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to recover their freedoms, but Michele hesitates and finally flees and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put his pain into words without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick". Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona composes a melody in a few hours, which very quickly, she plays the singer. It's a revelation and Serge Lama writes almost all of the text in 20 minutes. But his record company does not approve of this song, they thought people weren't going to like it so Serge Lama threatened to leave the record company and finally they agreed to release it in 1973. And it's THIS music who made it known. Then Dalida took over this song in 1978.
Completely different genre, style, delivery in their music: Dolly Parton uses her songs many times in her singing speech voice. I never thought of her drawing the audience into the story. Here is a fun fact about her Thanksgiving Halftime show: The Stage was suppose to lower her down, the stage refused. So, as she began descending on her own, the back broke off 1 of her high heels. Dolly holds onto the stage long enough for her too gain her balance descending a little further. The joy of live shows, and keep on going when things don’t go as planned. *Several men in the studio said, “It’s time Dolly acted her age”. When has anyone said that about a man? *I have only recently discovered Lara Fabian & I’ve fallen in love with her. Stunning in every way. How did the U.S. miss out until recently. Thank you so much for the joy & knowledge of music you share. God bless, Timothy in Tallahassee, Florida 🌞🌴
It is fascinating to listen to a real analysis instead of just a "reaction video". You "hear" more than the others I've listened to. And you make me hear it too. I've learned and appreciated this song so much more after seeing this. Congratulations and thank you. And bthw, your French pronunciation is excellent! I'm French and can vouch for that.
pas les français mais une certaine "intelligentsia" qui trouve drôle de se moquer des vrais talents. Les français achètent ses disques et vont en masse à ses concerts !
What a talent! What vocal control that conveys the mind and heart and unfortunately opens the flood gate of tears and emotions! You can't help but live the song in toto.
This jaw-dropping performance was my gateway drug to Fabian and I've just gotten more addicted as I've delved more into her work. Perfect marriage of technique and emotional storytelling/stagecraft.
What an actress she is! She has the talent of a great actress with a huge voice ability, and a massive heart, with power and fragility. Chanson singers like Piaf were this great. Nearly 🙂
@@chong2389 I am envious that you saw her live. As amazing as vids of her live performances are, I've heard many say actually being in the audience is electric. Maybe one day for me!
For all the times I’ve listened to this song/watched other people react to it, I’d never heard or considered your stunning revelation about the descending scale as a descent into despair and heartbreak. Like, I had to pause a second and just bask in that assessment. And then the combination of your gut-punching emotion and beautifully explained musical elements truly makes this one of the best reactions I’ve ever watched, not just of this song, but ever. Brava, and thank you.
One of the best reactions I've ever seen to this absolute masterpiece in emotions and story telling by Lara Fabian. No wonder she's been inspiring so many younger artists. She's an absolute living legend.
I would have to say that this is one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. Such vocal talent. Such an arrangement. Your reaction is beyond spot on. Lara Fabian should have been and should be held as one of the best singers in history. It is no wonder that Dimash and Josh Groban want to emulate her. I don't even understand French although I have seen the subtitles with translation, but I didn't even need to see them to understand the complete desperation and passion and pain given in this performance. It is universal and yet I do not think that there are many other artists that could have done this to express the pure emotion. You can see it at the end of this video and the original video where you see her trying to recover from such an impactful and immersive performance - drawing from something that some of us can draw from but hopefully most cannot. Watch the ending to see how much that cost her. I do not think at all that it was faked. She performed this song at the risk of her health and personal safety and had to take a minute to dissociate herself from this. I do not think that was an act at all. That is not a bad thing I am saying, only to understand that she is portraying something that many could never understand. Pain, rejection, hope, denial, fear, love, expectation, (so many other emotions), all at once, summed up by her 17 second held ending vocal letting us all know these feelings all at once. Masterpiece is such a simple term to this as this will go above so many heads. Love you all.
I've been SO FREKING LUCKY in my life, to have enjoyed this talented ARTIST named Lara Fabian, live in concert three times in Athens, Greece where I do live. Everytime she performs this very one song, is like taking her soul outside of her own body and putting in on the stage, like it's an object or what and sharing it with the audience. It's PHENOMENONAL!
yes that´s correct she lives everyting she sings .. she believes in all the lyrics , that the reason it resonates so much with us listeners ,not to mention her beautiful voice and tone ! it´s like story telling ! I cry too everytime i watch it and i thought it will be more impactful for french people like me but i can see that music is so universal and you don´t need to understand all the words to feel the emotion ... music is indeed universal !
This is by far the most intelligent analysis of this song I have seen on here. Thank you! I love that song and have seen countless reaction videos, some good some less so. You have managed to make me rediscover this song, adding so many perspectives to it through your commentary. Thank you and Wow! 👍🏻
@@jessicasopranonotes I totally agree with what Hervé said. You analyzed this song superbly and the way Lara sang it. All the breaths, the pauses, the stops between certain words, have not gone unnoticed. Well done !!

Still to this day every time I see it, I’m still in amazement of Lara’s beauty, her grace, her emotions, and THAT VOICE! This is the best reaction video to Lara Fabian I’ve seen. Keep up the good videos.
This is the reason songs exist. Oh my God!!!!!! Your comments helped me understand and appreciate certain things about Lara's greatness even more. Thank you
She's known for masterful technique. I've come to think of her as something of a vocal chameleon. She is ALL about the story. (Calls herself a songwriter with a voice.) You haven't heard one of her originals yet - this is a cover she tweeked significantly to famously make her own - but I think you'd love exploring her work/skills. 🖖🏽 She's fluent and writes in French Italian English and Spanish. Sings very very competently in 12 according to native speakers. Just a brilliant artist. Not her originals, but her covers of Caruso and Pedere L'Amore are sublime.
@@jessicasopranonotes From the same concert/era, here are a few of Lara's own creations in English language: You're not from here, Broken Vow (this concert version is my favorite by far), Adagio (even though the original melody is way older than Lara). And as pointed by @FeatherStep, Lara is a vocal chameleon. She can sing soft spoken or slay her notes, she can do low/sad songs just as well as punchy rythms (check I am who I am or I will Love Again).
@@jessicasopranonotes The original song was by the singer song writer Serge Lama whose father gave up his operatic career for his wife's sake and suffered from it.
Watching this reaction again, maybe for the 6th time. So sorry you never wanted to react to her singer again. Thank you again for this amazing reaction.
For me, one of the most masterful parts is round 14:30. When she's been showing how this love makes her physically ill since the beginning of the song (the drinking, the body language), there's a shift at that moment where she shows how it also made her mentally ill (« malade » in French has both meanings) with the smile, the laugh, the wonderful « C'est ça, je suis malade! ». It's heartbreaking. Lara Fabian is both one of the greatest singers in the world, but she is also a very genuinely kind and loving being. Clearly an empath that we all should cherish. Good analysis on your part, very interesting.
Finally someone who felt the soul emerging from this song throughout Lara's emotional guts... Enfin quelqu'un qui a senti l'âme émergeant de cette chanson au travers des trippes de Lara...
She does sound exhausted when she’s singing « je suis épuisée » and she does the same when she sings « je bois toutes les nuits, et tous les whiskys... » but on those words she sounds drunk. She always mix great technic with great interpretation and i am always amazed how this french song from Dalida can be loved that much in so many countries !
Your ability to convey your mastery of art and technique while responding with exquisite sensitivity and immediacy is unusual among UA-cam reactors. It heightened my pleasure in and appreciation for the performance. Thank you!

approaching a full dozen views of this analysis / reaction to this particular performance by Lara Fabian - maybe the single best performance of any song by any performer ..... EVER ! Lara Fabian is by a long way the best conveyor of emotions; her technique is flawless, her execution of that technique is flawless, her tone is flawless, her range is flawless, her breath control is flawless, and her belting is beyond compare. On top of all that is her unique ability to allow her audience to join her into the journey of the story. The creme-de-la-creme of THIS reaction is your inciteful and delicious explanations of why I love this performance so much. I think you are the best I've seen......... and I think Lara is one of only a few true " ARTISTS " in music.
This song was wrote by Alice Dona from the life story when she helped Serge Lama the original singer when he told her his story of his broken hearth and from serge words it took Alice 20 minutes to wrote the song as Serge word were right and working together cause life made it , As french canadian we appreciate the sharing we can easely have with the French from France and we created some of the most beautiful song from hearth singing deepest inspiration , But Lara she's really special like few that can bring to live any word they say with their gutz 🤍🖤
It’s the greatest version of that song I’ve ever heard. It’s already a very charged emotional song and you just feel she’s totally living it. Watch her face at the end, she has to shake it off, she’s totally involved. I always have goosebumps when I listen to that song. Brilliant!

She is a wonderful and talented artist and in her song she makes us know that she lived throught this situation herself! Beautiful Artist I've been following her since she was young. Bravo Lara XOXO! love you!
Lara is actually an idol of Dimash and your analysis describes why that is. He tries to bring some of the same emotion and passion to his singing that she does... Also, another reactor noticed that after she finished singing, she was still emotionally into the song for another 30 seconds or so because she wasn't able to even acknowledge the crowd. I can't imagine putting that much into a whole night of singing without being totally exhausted just from the pure emotions she is feeling to give those performances...
Your reaction, insight, and analysis were AMAZING! THANK YOU. The line that always gets me with its infinite tenderness is when she says "cet amour me tue..."

Integration of all those available things...rhythm , stage movement/energy, timbre, note length, register choices (yes, choice - you reviewers who just say ITS IMPOSSIBLE!)...use it all.
@@jessicasopranonotes watch Jacques Brel live. He was leaving the scene on a stretcher because of exhaustion.
I completely agree
Nothing to add or say, just perfection. A true artist.
Look at the time it took her to come back from her character after she was done with singing. That's a master class in interpretation. She's not only singing, she's living the songs she's interpreting (whether hers or covers).
Lara Fabian is living artistry. She lives and breathes each song, she is the song.
Her performance of “Broken Vow” is just *chef’s kiss*
Someone needs to create a chef's kiss emoji.
I adore your sincerity while reacting to the video. You're a beautiful soul. God bless you.
This performance made the song to a monument, cast in concrete. She Mastered the song. Even Lara herself can not repeat it. Unique. And I love your comment. You clearly know what you are talking about. Thank you.
She is the best singer in the universe. I love how much you love her. ❤
Every once in a while, I have to watch this again. It is one of my favorite reactions to this. Moves me, in a good way.
There is nothing wrong in crying with the emotions arose by this perfect performance. My favourite Lara's performance. She lived it.
Un sérieux cas de "One-Itis" ce Serge Lama.
I like Serge's version better, not because he'd be better at singing, because he isn't, it's just more raw and naked.
@@Ketutar Exactly, well said! And also because it's his story so we feel his emotions when he sings!
Thank you SO SO much for sharing this sad story….
And serge lama admit than Lara was the best who delivery this song
Absolutely Phenominal. Loved your input
The exaggerated breaths also remind me of crying / sobbing... Like the breaths you take inbetween, as you're trying to tell a story while also crying.
yes, reminds me of that too.
I've lost count of how many times I've Watched this Song... and I get goosebumps every single time
It is fascinating to listen to a real analysis instead of just a "reaction video". You "hear" more than the others I've listened to. And you make me hear it too. I've learned and appreciated this song so much more after seeing this. Congratulations and thank you. And bthw, your French pronunciation is excellent! I'm French and can vouch for that.
Glad you enjoyed, Michel!
Most of the reactions compliment Lara's performance (and rightly so) but these lyrics... Damn... these lyrics are absolutely heart wrenching.

What a talent! What vocal control that conveys the mind and heart and unfortunately opens the flood gate of tears and emotions! You can't help but live the song in toto.
I really appreciate the value in your commentary, you know what you are talking about and this is so interesting!

This jaw-dropping performance was my gateway drug to Fabian and I've just gotten more addicted as I've delved more into her work.
Perfect marriage of technique and emotional storytelling/stagecraft.
Beautifully said!
What an actress she is! She has the talent of a great actress with a huge voice ability, and a massive heart, with power and fragility. Chanson singers like Piaf were this great. Nearly 🙂
Adagio was mine. In fact, I actually travelled to France in 2006 to attend her 'Un regard 9' tour. She speaks to the soul.
@@chong2389 I am envious that you saw her live. As amazing as vids of her live performances are, I've heard many say actually being in the audience is electric.
Maybe one day for me!
Same, gateway drug. Then it killed me.And I came back to life for more.
I LOVE this commentary as a professional singer. This lady really knows what she's talking about.
Brava, and thank you.
oh wow, what a compliment! Thank you so much!

I am crying and feeling in the song breaking over me like waves of despair! Simply amazing
Wow. This is what I call a song/performance analysis. I've never seen it done better.
Thank you, Mark!
One of the best reactions I've ever seen to this absolute masterpiece in emotions and story telling by Lara Fabian. No wonder she's been inspiring so many younger artists. She's an absolute living legend.
This performance breaks my heart every time.
This is the richest and most detailed interpretation of this marvelous singer singing this classic! ♥️♥️ Thank you
I am a man but I cry every time I watch this performance. Every time. Lara is great
She is!
Men luckily cry as well.
Yes, you are truly lucky to have seen Lara 3 times live! Wow. I'm so jealous!
@@frankbirch3877 I wish you can enjoy her too soon! xxx
I like the idea that she's telling without knowing what she's gonna say, that's brilliant! She's so good, cinema.
The piano and her dropped eyes in beginning sets up everything you need to prepare for a master performance. You can’t turn away.
I lova Lara Fabian. Discovered her on a flight to the US, singing Adagio in italian. Tears...lots of tears. She is beyond magic.
yes that´s correct she lives everyting she sings .. she believes in all the lyrics , that the reason it resonates so much with us listeners ,not to mention her beautiful voice and tone ! it´s like story telling ! I cry too everytime i watch it and i thought it will be more impactful for french people like me but i can see that music is so universal and you don´t need to understand all the words to feel the emotion ... music is indeed universal !
How have I never heard of Lara Fabian before??!! Bravo!! So beautiful.
This is by far the most intelligent analysis of this song I have seen on here. Thank you! I love that song and have seen countless reaction videos, some good some less so. Thank you for this good analysis😘
💛 Thank you!
This was a perfect performance by Lara Fabian. It’s one of many in her career. I’m glad you experienced her.
You're beautiful, the song is beautiful, Lara Fabian is beautiful, but her voice is the most beautiful on planet Earth
I have watch this Lara Fabian video probably more then 1000 times in last 2 years and have seen many reactions videos of this performance. Still to this day every time I see it, I’m still in amazement of Lara’s beauty, her grace, her emotions, and THAT VOICE! This is the best reaction video to Lara Fabian I’ve seen. Keep up the good videos.
Thank you James!
She's fluent and writes in French Italian English and Spanish. Sings very very competently in 12 according to native speakers.
Just a brilliant artist.
Not her originals, but her covers of Caruso and Pedere L'Amore are sublime.
I didn't realize this was a cover. Now I need to listen to the original to see how she made it her own. Can't wait to do more on her!
Soprano Notes : the original interpretation is by Serge Lama the song writer himself.
Perdere l'amore is a Masterpiece. Love it!!!
Fully agree, she having a nervous breakdown before our eyes
Finally someone who felt the soul emerging from this song throughout Lara's emotional guts...
Enfin quelqu'un qui a senti l'âme émergeant de cette chanson au travers des trippes de Lara...
She does sound exhausted when she’s singing « je suis épuisée » and she does the same when she sings « je bois toutes les nuits, et tous les whiskys... » but on those words she sounds drunk.
She always mix great technic with great interpretation and i am always amazed how this french song from Dalida can be loved that much in so many countries !
la chanson est de serge lama dalida l ayant reprise
The song is by Serge Lama, not Dalida (who just covered it)
This woman’s talent is so underrated...Lara is such a great talent! Great review 🙂
Your ability to convey your mastery of art and technique while responding with exquisite sensitivity and immediacy is unusual among UA-cam reactors. It heightened my pleasure in and appreciation for the performance. Thank you!

Your reaction quite literally has been THE most emotional and genuine I have seen for this artist and song. Excellent analysis and reaffirmation of how important it is to understand the singer's perspective and ability to tell a difficult story. Thank you.
At the end, she is physically and more so emotionally exhausted. Lara really committed to it.

approaching a full dozen views of this analysis / reaction to this particular performance by Lara Fabian - maybe the single best performance of any song by any performer ..... Lara is a master storyteller with her voice! It’s perfection!
I ve been at her consert front row. Nobody sing like her, masterclass on every level of singing and performing.
What an experience!
Brilliant!
Vous avez tout compris à cette artiste vraiment je vous félicite et je suis surpris que vous aviez cité ce duo avec Johnny au stade de France " requiem pour un fou" j'y était et c'était mémorable !!!
Love your reaction as much I love this song. I cry along with you. I've lost count as to how many times I've watched.
She lives her songs. She is her songs..pure emotion her performance tears at your heart in a desperate need to express itself ..
This reaction reminded me why I first hit the subscribe button; in a flood of musician reactors you stand out for your expertise and your genuine connection with the artist and the song. LF is wonderful. You’d appreciate her performance of Caruso.
Thank you very much! I have Caruso written down. Can't wait to hear more from her ☺️
I just recently found this song, and every time she sings "I pour my blood down over your body
& I'm like a dead bird while you sleep" I tear up or tear down. I liked your break down it made her performance seem even more impressive. Well done good soul, God bless.
this performance is a masterclass in emotion....
Elle sait chanter cette belle dame❤❤. Serieusement je suis du Quebec et on l entendait a la radio dans d autre chanson et nous devons etre fiere de nos artistes Canadienne-belge pour sa part.
I first heard Lara sing Caruso - which blew me away. Then found Malada and I watched Lara perform this on UA-cam 2 months ago and since that day, I can't go a day without listening to it - at least 3x a day. She brings tears to my eyes every single time I watch it. She's an amazing woman. Thank you for presenting her the way you have. I enjoyed your analysis immensely!
OMG 😱 can't believe you missed her *"YOU'RE NOT FROM HER"* audio
It's indeed one of the greatest and most perfect vocal performances ever
Those dynamics chest-head transitions and belting power in there are unmatched 🙌
She literally remind me of late Whitney Houston 😭
The continious flow....we call that french. That s why is beautiful

If you got emotional, watch her sing this song with Genevieve Leclerc in 2018 and get ready to cry, it's emotional.
Don't worry love, I do cry every single time I listen to this song. Fantastic interpretation.
This by far the best analysis of this song. Don't be ashamed to be touched and to cry. It's what we all feel. Thank you for your emotions and analysis.
Beautiful assessment of the fantastic Lara Fabian whom I had the pleasure of experiencing her genius live in Paris ❤️🥰 🔥🙏🏼 a voice as pure as crystal reminiscent of the great Streisand 💪😁 Thank you beautiful lady 🙏🏼☺️
I’m so impressed by your…I hesitate to call it analysis because it’s so emotionally driven. You are brilliant and empathic. You made me feel the song even more than when I listened in the past. I will subscribe even though I think we probably hang out in different musical neighborhoods. Great job.
Dimash us in my humble opinion 110% technique but only 25% emotion
Wow. I will be binge watching a few more of your video comments
Your reaction, insight, and analysis were AMAZING! THANK YOU. The line that always gets me with its infinite tenderness is when she says "cet amour me tue..."
I applaud you too, for it even intensified that magnificent emotional performance by Lara Fabian. Hope to attend one of her concerts soon. Thank you!
Lara is an amazing singer! She deserves so much more praise for this performance. Just out of this world. I cry every single time I hear her sing this song. Her Adagio is also great.
