I have watched pretty much all your videos, even the livestreams 😂. I was born and raised in Hawaii but live on the mainland now, and it’s been great seeing what places I should check out whenever I visit.
Ok you folks got me watching again since your video was in Kaneohe (my home town) so it caught my interest. I was watching all of your videos about your new condo and the work you put in it, for me, that’s more of my types of videos (DIY) but this video caught my attention. I love watching Lucy since we have a miniature Dachshund too! I was wondering where you folks was going to get a good desert that day in Kaneohe? I do know, Kaneohe is limited on the desert places so I kinda knew already this was going to be a feat to conquer LOL. Best bet, go to Kailua or drive back into town. As you found out, Windward Mall is limited in eateries, just their small food court which is very limited in selections and a few places scattered round in the Mall. Maybe when Target opens up in the near future where SEARS was located as they are renovating now, maybe the Mall will pick up in business as it’s slow over there and was so even before the pandemic. Here in Kaneohe we live so close to town and have access to 3 tunnels; people usually drive into town on weekends, holidays and shop and since it’s only a 20 minute drive we grind in town or other places in Central Oahu for something different. During the week they just pick up the common fast food from the big burger places, pizza, chicken places, L&L, Zippy's and other fast food plate lunch places for a fast dinner at home after work when we don't feel like cooking. What I like to do is go to Kin Wah Chop Suey by Luluku Road and Kam Hwy and order a simple Special Plate A or a Special Plate B (with fried rice), get a drink at the Aloha Mini Mart next to Kim Wah and then drive up Luluku Road to Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Gardens, lots of tables and areas to have a nice lunch with a beautiful view, I should know, was my playing grounds since 1966 (before the park). Great place to take your family, date and just to unwind with a simple mixed plate from Kim Wah, watching nature. They do have plenty bathrooms and parking, just a beautiful place to have a lunch and easy to get there from Kim Wah. FYI, Deans used to be another Zippy's back in the day when Kaneohe had two Zippy's. It was a walk-in, had a simple eat in area and a drive-thru, I guess after so many years, they left that location and kept their main location across Windward Mall. I never went to KJ’s but my son works across that parking Lot in Windward City Shopping Center, so I really need to check out their chicken. I did hit that Subscribe button and liked this video since it hit me right at my home town. Hope Lucy is doing well on that side. Next time check out Masa & Joyce okazuya next to Kim Wah. They have everything under the sun, Breakfast, Hawaiian food, Sushi, Musubi, Okazu, plate lunches, bentos, bowls, tempura and much more! They open early and usually sell out by 2:00pm when they close for the day. Usually the truck drivers are there early in the morning to get their lunches, that’s why they are usually sold out on most of their food before the 2:00pm closing time.
KJ’s has the best chicken on Oahu period! Not to mention the first to come out with mochiko over 20 years ago. Their signature spaghetti or shoestring salad has been passed from generation and no comparison to other eateries that try to replicate it. Eventually perfecting an array of chicken dishes and providing generous portions to our community is what KJ’s is all about! Thank you KJ’s !🤙
This is one of the best ones you made. I will try them as well. I can go fancy restaurants making great food. But in this one, you covered hidden ones. I want to support small businesses when I am in Oahu Hope you had a good trip in WA!
Love love LOVE seeing the Koʻolau's behind you 😍😍😍 and that original fried chicken looks absolutely incredible! 🤙 Thanks for branching out all over the island! Can't wait for the next video!
My hometown ❤️ next time you guys stop by you should check out Adela’s country eatery for the best homemade pasta and kbay bros for some delicious poke. They both opened up quite recently but such hidden gems!
We’ve done Adela’s early on but definitely want to visit again! And we hear Kbay bros are good too! Guess we’ll be back in Kaneohe again soon!🤙🏻 mahalo Cat!
The local places serve the best foods! Wow all the food snd it’s presentation there in Hawaii always looks fabulous, the fried chicken looked delicious and spaghetti Mac is different. Great visto guys love your content ☺️
Love your vids! You gotta try K-bay bros fish and ice. Their inari bombs are awesome. Spicy tuna or crab are excellent. Deans drive in has a special ahi belly with the ginger sauce you had is excellent. They also serve pulehu rack of lamb, I don’t know any other drive in that sells that. I thought of that from your Hy’s steak house video. I don’t know if you have been to Byron II in Ala moana shopping center where Assagio’s is now but they were the best. They did everything that Hy’s does plus more tableside service and way more affordable. That’s just my opinion because I was a waiter at both restaurants. Keep up the great videos!
Really felt like I was driving to Kaneohe and visiting the hidden gems. Mahalo! Everything looked so onolicious! Loved seeing the Ko'olau range and the lush greenness of Kaneohe.
Everything in this video looks really Ono. I would have eaten everything. When I lived on Oahu I hardly went to this side of the island, missed many tadty places. Mahalo and Aloha.
You guys should also try out FRESH CATCH in Kaneohe particularly the Ahi Katsu plate it’s a Winner and a nice big portion with a nice sauce on top of the Ahi Katsu!!
Aloha Amanda & Felix. The chicken looked SO good and that interesting dessert looked good too. I sometimes drive out to Kaneohe/Ko Olina when visiting the islands and it's great to hear about these hidden gems out there. Have a great weekend.
Growing up in Taiwan it was always tofu pudding with peanuts 🥜! So good. Thanks for bringing the Taiwanese desserts to us!! If you’re ever going to TW, I will fly there and take you guys around.
Another great food adventure and the Ko’olau range is my backyard too! Grew up in Kailua n raised in Pearl City! 💕 Thanks for sharing all your adventures! Honestly doing Hawaii business and locals anti-abroad some service! Mahalo! Also, love the bloopers’ 😂 👍🏿💕😀🙏🏽
“Anti-abroad”?! So sorry for the auto miss spelling!!! I wasn’t wearing my glasses so i missed that!!!!! 😳. You folks know I’m a fan of your foodie Ohana!!! Keep up the great and fun reviews!!!! Hawaii, I miss you!!!!💕👍🏿😀
Awesome choices. All the chicken looked so yummy and gotta go to Dean's. Used to be in another location, but glad to see the food quality hasn't decreased. Can't wait to go back and use the drive thru...so convenient! I'm with you Felix...think I'd skip the peanuts in the dessert, but love boiled peanuts. Hahaha.
Gimmee 2 scoops of that spahgetti mac salad with the furikake chicken. And gimmee that bento with the fish and then finally the fish plate lunch! I want it all! Y'all always rock da bes grindz and this video proves it. Shaka's and mahalo y'all!
A beautiful place to picnic is Ho'omaluhia Park right up next to the Ko'olau mountains.... you will need mosquito repellent tho, but it is spectacular scenery!
Next visit to K-Town, you should drop by KBayBros (run by the four Koki brothers) Fish & Ice for poke (or 50lb bags of ice). They're behind Zippy's in a mini strip mall next to Windward Mall. The usual poke selections as well as occasional lomi oio, Kona crab poke and inari "bombs". Also boiled peanuts - crunchier style, not mushy flavored with star anise.
KJ's regular fried chicken look so bomb! Look like the "old Woolworth's" chicken! I would ask for sauce (from the furikake chicken) on the side just to dip it in LOL. Mean, the bowl from Dean's Drive Inn! Awesome videos!
Had to try Dean's today because that teriyaki steak looked sooo good! I was not disappointed. Nice and tender, and the teriyaki was not overwhelming or too sweet. The only issue was having to call first. I had to call so many times before they finally answered. Did you guys have any tricks to ordering?
Idk… love KJ’s original, but I love Tanioka’s fry chicken too… I need to try Sugoi? And I I love KJ’s tuna/spaghetti Mac! The hidden gem Deans drive in, I think that use to be Zippy’s drive through! Eh, they rate yeah for Ttriple D! Right on! Fish cake looks ono! Steam fish looks good! Mahalo!
Hi guys , thank you for your shout out , but I wish it was me you ran into at Wal Mart , but Sharon A and family will not be out there until August , really looking forward to this trip and hopefully will be able to get to all the recommendations from your vlogs 👍
Aloha Amanda & Felix….Just a heads up, there is a new restaurant opening up in Kapolei on March 15 named “Broke Da Mouth Grundz”. If you are looking for some amazing Furukaki Garlic Chicken. Please try this place. The original restaurant has been doing great in Kailua-Kona. This place even appears on Triple D.
I’m local. Unbiased opinion here. Not from that town I’m speaking of but KJ’s is not the best on Oahu. Went to KJ’s a FEW times but I’ve getting Maybe been sitting chicken, Maybe bad batch’s 🤷🏽♂️ but anyways, it’s locally owned and operated located in xxxxxua town. Happy hunting 😁🤙🏾
KJs chicken is good for the price. They gave 4 pieces in their plat but it is a little salty for my taste. I like Ray's in Kalihi which is more known for their prime rib and crab legs, but they serve fried chicken as well which is just as crispy and tasty and not as salty in comparison. Sad that Dean's Drive in closed in 2022..
Like#487 Mmm KJ’s!!! My first time trying the Furikake chicken was Fall 2021 😋 It was after our family photo shoot at Ho’omaluhia Garden and omg it was so good!! We also bought from the Okazuya place I think it’s called Masa and Joyce?
Great video. March 25th I'll be in Oahu. But we're staying at the Marriott on the west side of the island. Someone told me that the Giovanni's shrimp truck has another location somewhere in Honolulu. Does anyone know about that?
🌴We're going to that side of the island to check it out we're going to stop at that place where you just went to. I want to order some extra containers of soy glaze for that delicious looking foodie cookie chicken. How funny that's on my phone typed it out.
Lmao me and my family live literally next door to that park you guys were eating at. Small world, sadly I heard deans drive inn is closing July 10th. Assuming they couldn't keep up with inflation and stuff
I used to go sugois a lot but after a while the chicken is a little to big for me and since it’s so big it’s kinda mushy inside but anyways that’s just me but as for just for the plain fried chicken gotta be kJs or So Fat.
RIP Deans. Loved them. They will be missed...
KJ’s is my personal favorite chicken plate lunch spot on the entire island. Yessahhh.
I have watched pretty much all your videos, even the livestreams 😂. I was born and raised in Hawaii but live on the mainland now, and it’s been great seeing what places I should check out whenever I visit.

There aren't many dessert places to eat at on the Windward side, but I can vouch for Adela's Country Eatery's ube cheesecake.
We love their cheesecakes too!🤤
I miss Dean’s so much. They closed in 2022. Sadest day. I loved their food.

A beautiful place to picnic is Ho'omaluhia Park right up next to the Ko'olau mountains.... you will need mosquito repellent tho, but it is spectacular scenery!
Oh no! Both of us are super prone to mosquito bites😅
Been going to both places since I was a kid. Deans when they were over at Adon plaza.
Love KJs...! Be in Oahu again Sept/Oct!!
Should have taken your food to Hoomaluhia Park if you like parks with a view. Just up the road from KJ's...awesome back drop for filming

You guys always find the ono places to eat, stay safe…🤙🏼

Thumbs up for bringing your own recyclable forks👍🏾. If you want good Chinese, find your way to New Mui Kwai. Best on the Windward side
Thanks for the tip Wendell🤙🏻 aloha!
KJ's regular fried chicken look so bomb! Look like the "old Woolworth's" chicken! I would ask for sauce (from the furikake chicken) on the side just to dip it in LOL. Mean, the bowl from Dean's Drive Inn! Awesome videos!

The only issue was having to call first. I had to call so many times before they finally answered. Did you guys have any tricks to ordering?
Just keep trying if they don’t pick up, it’s worth it! Hopefully they will open up indoor dining again soon.
Mahalo!

Does Dean’s still sell any homemade baked items? I haven’t been there in almost 3 years but their baked goods and teriyaki beef used to be my order.
We didn’t know they had baked items! We’ll definitely try it next time we’re there! 🤙🏻
Hi, Guys ✌️✌️✌️👍👍👍😷 stay safe out there enjoy
Mahalo🤙🏻
KJ fried chicken is sooooo good. Call your order in. It takes 15 minutes.
Sugoi's is very garlicky.
Aloha Petroleum Waikiki or Nanakuli. Try their fried chicken. I’m pretty sure those are still the only two that fry chicken.
Dean’s! My favorite teri beef!
According to Google Maps, Deans Drive Inn appears to be closed 😢. Anyone able to confirm that at all?
What day did you guys go 🤔 depending what day there’s HiCravings truck right outside windward mall. Also known as JessDaBest açaí bowls 😭
I need that fan for my return to the islands lol
It helps!🥳
Hi, Guys happy Eating 🍵🍵🍵
We definitely eating happy🤙🏻
Any suggestions on a good place to go eat in Ko Olina? We love sushi🍣
Sorry that our dessert places, Kaneohe bakery and Delux bakery closed.
I don't know if Chicken and Waffles is still open. They have amazing fried chicken!!
Yummy you guys have nice Marlin pcs. (Nairagi, Au)
Nice! Mahalo🤙🏻
I've tried KJ's. Their furikake chicken was ok, I prefer their garlic chicken over the furikake. Still good thooo.
Gotta try their garlic chicken next time too🤤🤙🏻
KJs chicken is good for the price. They gave 4 pieces in their plat but it is a little salty for my taste. I like Ray's in Kalihi which is more known for their prime rib and crab legs, but they serve fried chicken as well which is just as crispy and tasty and not as salty in comparison. Reusable utensils 👍, help out our Earth 🌎 🌿
We’re trying🤙🏻 much aloha!
If you like lamb chops Dean's makes the best plate and they give you like 6 peices

Great video.
March 25th I'll be in Oahu. But we're staying at the Marriott on the west side of the island.
Someone told me that the Giovanni's shrimp truck has another location somewhere in Honolulu. Does anyone know about that?
There's a Giovanni's on the 2nd floor food court of HMart in Kakaako. Tastes just like Haleiwa's!
@@maefukushima1231 Mahalo sis. That's great news 🌴🌺👍
Gotta go Adele’s Country Eatery
Also, Kikuya
We did a video early on in our UA-cam journey on Adela’s 😬 still gotta try kikuya!
What is fuhekake (?) Chicken? I'm sure I'm mangling it.
Just to let U know, Pake is not in the name for Kin Wah restaurant!!!🤗🌺🙏💖🌈💝
Slush float at Sam’s club, get the mermaid which is a mixture of both. They’ll know what you’re talking about
🌴We're going to that side of the island to check it out we're going to stop at that place where you just went to. I want to order some extra containers of soy glaze for that delicious looking foodie cookie chicken. How funny that's on my phone typed it out.
Taniokas fried chicken , mochiko chicken i think is the best
Love Tanioka’s fried chicken🤤🤤🤤
Lmao me and my family live literally next door to that park you guys were eating at. Small world, sadly I heard deans drive inn is closing July 10th. Assuming they couldn't keep up with inflation and stuff
😂😂sounds like Guy Hagi 😂😂😂

If you love the skin, KJ also sells just crispy skins...
Whaaaat!!! I need a bucket of that🤤🤤🤤
I looked up Dean's for my trip to Kaneohe in 2023...the site says it's Permanently closed...
You should try K & K next to island snow in Kailua by Kailua Beach. It's like L&L but better menu
We’ve been there after the beach! 😋
KJ chicken instead of KC, CheeWhooo!
🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Guy Hagi fish- ha, ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!
We are watching your channel
Mahalo for watching🤙🏻🥰
KJs All the way what’s better in your opinion ?
We like sugoi's. But it could be because we're biased from town 🤔 kj is definitely the best on that side 🙌
I used to go sugois a lot but after a while the chicken is a little to big for me and since it’s so big it’s kinda mushy inside but anyways that’s just me but as for just for the plain fried chicken gotta be kJs or So Fat.
Damn
💯💯💯
Dean's closed. They were going to have to raise prices. They didn't want to charge so much. 😢
Nah, best fried chicken on the island is from Garden Island Cafe in Waipahu.
We’ve heard of Garden island cafe! On our to do list for sure🤙🏻
