Thank you for sharing this Texas BBQ Treasure! 👍🏼Definitely going on my list of places to visit whenever I head to Hawaii. That sausage! I actually heard the “Snap!” when you bit into it. Reminds me of a sausage that is popular on Guam called Chorizos “Pak Pak” (which means clap or cracking sound) the skin is “snappy” and produces that cracking sound when you bite into it!😋

Great blog guys. I enjoy your foodie adventures! We visited Sunset BBQ in December. James was very KEWL!!! A friend of mine Allan from Oahu told us about this place. So, I've been to these Central Texas BBQ spots. Franklin's BBQ, Terry Black's BBQ, Cooper's BBQ, Salt Lick BBQ(has Island roots). This is totally Legit!!! Authentic Texas BBQ!!! I ordered before leaving SF Bay Area. $280 worth f or 7 people. It took us a few days to eat ALL!!! NOTHING WAS WASTED.
Oh my gosh that BBQ is just outstanding 😍 the meats are so so tender and the ribs are fall off bone. The sides look amazing as well, it’s my dream to go to Texas and experience Texas BBQ for sure

Amanda, you had me at “it’s glistening.” I can taste it through the screen 😋 Funny that I don’t really like BBQ, but maybe this place will make me love it! You know it’s good too when Felix says “meat candy.” The way that The Von described all the food was just 👌 Might have to visit Oahu couple times throughout the year just try every place that you guys reviewed!

Moved to HI from Austin TX a few months ago and this BBQ is a 100% legit….not cheap but outstanding! & worth it!!

Love good brisket and that looked so tender! I aim for bark like that when I smoke brisket. Now, you have to go back to Kawaii Ice Wave and try the brown sugar halo halo. Whaaat?!? That looked amazing!!! Price can add up, but apparently that's what they charge in Texas too! We started planning when to put in our order before the episode ended! That beef Rib did it for us, but like you said, it all looked amazing. Hope you make it to Texas one day. I went to San Antonio once and didn't make it up to Austin, but did get some BBQ, but really wanted to try a bunch of places. Now I can get BBQ here. Lucky us!!! Thanks for deciding to try this place.
Yes! Prices are very comparable to the mainland, we’ve spent more on mainland for bbq before! Hope you guys get to try that beef ribs and burnt ends!🤤

Y'all would be so stoked to experience ever 'thang from BBQ, Tex-Mex, chicken fried steak, chili, and of course Whataburger. The Texas ohana would love the Hawaiian ohana. I'm planning to actually go to Texas next month to try out this one spot that's only open Thursday-Sunday from 11-3, and they sell out every day. I was waiting for Felix to get the meat sweats. Hmm, I live in Texas (San Antonio ) and it’s all about the Brisket here. With that said I’m more a rib person, esp the pork and dinosaur rib. Lol if you do go to Texas, my fav is Blacks in Lockhart. I think it’s better than Franklins that people wait for hours in line. Visiting Oahu later this week, if we have the time I might stop by and compare the meat. 👍
Blacks is also my favorite in Lockhart. Never been to Franklin because of the lines but Blacks is so dang good, I don't feel the need to. Mahalo!

Love me some BBQ Smoked Beef and Pork. I would have munched all the meat. I would also enjoy the Mustard Salad. I am intrigued by their in-house sausage. I love loval style cornbread but I've heard down south it's something different than what we eat. Meant to try it someday. The tour of the Smokers was interesting. The Root Beer, Ice, Ice Cream Float looks Ono too. Mahalo and Aloha.

When they were in Wahiawa you could always get a beef rib if you went early with out pre-ordering. Now that they're in town the lazy people who don't wanna drive can get it easier. So it sucks! Still love Sunset though.......James you guys rock!
how much did the whole plate cost? what was the portion for the bbq ribs. that was a really big piece. it mustve been expensive if you didnt get it for free. but it looks good i hope i can try it someday.

You guys late to the party!! We used to go to the one in Wahiawa. Let me tell you I have had bbq all over the mainland and they are one of the best I ever had! Their prices are reasonable for the mainland as well. I would say that their brisket is the best I have EVER had!

Making brisket like that is easy, I use prime brisket and I've smoked the brisket 7-10 hours, I've done whole racks of beef plate short ribs like that too.

Awesome video! Just a FYI. Don't ever.tell the BBQ chef his ribs are great it falls.off the bone, no, no...that means its over cooked...this is of course on the competitive BBQ circuit. You should be able to take a clean bite of the rib. without it all falling off the.bone. I'm drooling and jealous you got Burt Ends! A lot of times it never makes it out of the kitchen!😀 thank you for the tour!
