Being Filipino I love the dishes you two got! Typically people like to default to adobo pancit and lumpia, but I love that you got more less known dishes by non filipinos!
As a proud Filipina, thank you for sharing your love and support for Filipino food. I now have a Filipino restaurant to go to whenever I’m craving Filipino food and when I’m in Oahu, Hawaii. That’s the beauty of Filipino food. It’s a mixing pot of different influences and culture from the many years of colonizing and trading. Adobo and Lechon came from Spanish influence. Pancit Bihon came from Chinese influence. Pinakbet came from up North of the Philippines; a take on Chop Suey using fresh vegetables. Kare Kare is Indian/Malaysian influence. You two should try Sinigang (tamarind soup) if you haven’t tried it yet. Thanks again. Look forward to more Filipino foodie videos. 😊👍🏻
Thank you guys, This is the video I’ve been waiting for you guys trying Filipino foods. The only comment I have is about the lechon kawali supposed to dip this in mang Tomas lechon sauce or the Filipino banana ketchup thats the best way. The halo halo try to stir it all up all the ingredients together and its more ono. After all, halo halo means mix-mix. 😊
Amanda you are Beautiful & Felix you are Handsome, a compliment. Thank You for Loving Filipino Food, I appreciate Asians that support Asian cuisine and you two are amazing of your choice of Filipino Food. Pinakbet is really Healthy and the variety of vegetables are good for you.. karekare is the Curry version of the Philippines, peanut flavor, but we also have some our own Curry coconut flavor Curry, Adobo, pancit, You sure know how to pick my favorites. Mix the Halo-Halo from the bottom up all the ingredients mix it. I love you both. ❤ ✌☮ 💘 😊..
Oooohhhh now I know where to go eat next time we visit fam in Hawai'i. Definitely want to try the halohalo w/ dulce de leche. So glad you got pinakbet & karekare. We love all the veggies in it, especially bittermelon.
💕😋All my favorite Filipino dishes! Kare kare, pinakbet, (tripe is not my favorite either, especially when it’s chewy and ruffly😁) 👍🏼adobo is definitely a staple, and the lechon kawali is a must have too. 🥰Perfect dishes to enjoy! Making me hungry atm! Thanks for sharing another wonderful eating adventure! Larb does look like Chamorro (Guam) kelaguin!😊 Pancit Palabok and beef caldereta is also another must try for Filipino dishes. 👌🏽Rounding it off with halo halo was perfect. The caramel looked darker than the usual leche flan that they include which I definitely love too. Nata de coco is my favorite in it! Amanda, we enjoy a lot of the same things!❤️
My wife’s side is from Pampanga. My MIL cooks great kare-kare and caldereta. I don’t know about Filipino food being healthy. I told my family in Quezon City if I lived there I would have gout in the first year and a heart attack the second. Especially because I loved going out to the bars on a hot night having a cold San Mig Strong Ice and sizzling sisig. That was heaven. Love the video. Didn’t know there was a Filipino place just down the road from where I grew up.
Oh that’s so good! I’m jealous that your able to eat such awesome food from family!🤤 I guess Filipino food seems healthy to me cuz I don’t eat much meat and mostly veggies 😉 lol
Great job featuring the Filipino Food dishes!!! The pinakbet looked very good as did the kare-kare both looked very authentic!!! As far as the halo-halo goes, the exact translation is; mix-mix thus keep the lid on and mix the dessert with your long spoon until all the ingredients are mixed together!!! Also the block of caramel was leche flan… absolutely love following you two, keep up the great work!!!
Hello Felix and Amanda, awesome video guys made me really hungry. Yes you guys are right, Pampanga is supposed to be the best culinary spot in the Philippines. I have a few friends from there and they can cook awesome Filipino food. Maybe you guys can visit the Philippines someday and enjoy some local cooking there. Take care and have a great one.
Adobo is really easy to make and few ingredients. You can do chicken or pork adobo, or combine both meats in one dish. There are many good recipes online. Kare kare is not a curry even though the name sounds like it. Traditionally, it's an oxtail stew with veggies and other (optional) beef parts like tripe and tendon (no intestines) in a peanut, soy-fish sauce braise. Most Filipino entrees (ulam) need to be eaten with lots of rice because it's saucy and salty.
Filipina here! Growing up, we were learned to put some lemon or calamansi on our pancit. Also, halo halo is supposed to be mixed before you eat it so that way the ice cream get's on the ice! I'm glad you guys tried out pampanga kitchen, it's definitely very similar to my family's cooking. Next time you go definitely try out their pork guisantes and pork igado (if you like pork intestines!) :)
your pronunciation is on point guys!! I mean, this is coming from a first gen Filipino Canadian that doesn't speak Tagalog but still! I love that you guys like our food
Yes exactly you choose the best kitchenette around your place Pampanga is the cullinary capital of the Philippines, you do taste more dishes & enjoy happy eating,
Adobo have a lot of versions, there are done with coconut milk with turmeric or turmeric alone without the cocomilk or adobong puti thats without soy sauce but plain sea salt and adobo sa alamang(lightly fermented baby shirmp)
Thanks for the great video! Was in the area today and didn't know where to grab food so followed your recommendation. Try the dinuguan and sisig next time you go!! 😋
Love that you tried kare kare! It’s even better with bagoong. My mom makes it with ox tails and tripe. Kare kare is the only way I eat tripe. Lid off the halo halo and I mix it up before eating it. Halo halo is mix mix 😉 another great video, mahalo ♥️
Kare kare is always paired with bagoong to bring out the best taste of it. And you're right, original kare-kare has oxtail and tripe. And the lechon kawali is also good with Mang Tomas (liver sauce) You could also try their breakfast menu - longanisa, tapa, tocino with eggs.. yum! Normally with halo-halo, toppings are Leche flan and ube ice cream. They might have put some chunk of caramel instead.. and lid off!! 😉
And I wanna thank the both of you.. my family went to Hawaii last week to celebrate my birthday and your vlog really helped a lot to give us some ideas - as far as places and foodies to try!
Great video Amanda and Felix! We just visited Hawaii and went to the spot you recommended- Pampanga Kitchen and oooh man! Food was really good! My dad is from Pampanga in the the Philippines and he loved the food! Thanks for the video guy! Keep doing what you’re doing. Mahalo 🤙🏼
Salamat po (thank you) for promoting Filipino food! P.s. Try mixing the halo halo first…sometimes the sweetness is at the bottom 😊. Also, Magnolia Ice Cream has great halo halo too. P.s.s. You gotta make a vid of all of Felix’s puns ..too funny 😂
Awesome!! You guys still gotta try Juliez in Kapolei. I’m confident you won’t be disappointed in their Lechon Kawali. Also their Pinakbet and Sari Sari is the bomb. I really enjoy your videos thanks for sharing. I am born and raise in Hawaii but moved to Oregon in 2000. I usually watch your videos and make a list of the places I need to go when I visit . Congratulations on 20k subscribers. I wish you both continued success!
There are many vloggers out there that butcher most names of our food. You two have the pronunciations down that it’s highly believable. Great descriptions - great job.
Oh heck yeah! Now y'all have got to go to Jollibee and grind da kine filipino fast food. The spahgetti, cheeseburger, and fried chicken are mandatory! Love y'all. Mahalo!
Great video again guys. Hey, you guys should try Alena’s Filipino Resturant. I believe that they won best Filipino Resturant a while back. Btw, regarding halo halo, when I was in the Philippines, they would mix the halo halo throughly before eating. It tastes different when it’s all mixed up, I think it’s better when it’s all mixed up.
looking forward to trying all of the filipino dishes; another hidden gem that we wouldn't find on our own. Also want to have the Larb from the Thai place; I've only had it once before but really liked the dish. Thank you for sharing again.
We've been meaning to try this place out. Now we know...run don't walk to try out this place!!! Thanks for the info. We know where we need to go when we are looking for some good Filipino food, and we don't need to drive as far as Waipahu anymore
Hi guys seeing that food makes me think of my Filipino uncle and aunt that were the best people and great cooks I really miss them sometimes thank you both see ya in the next one
Regarding the kare2 you need to partner it with the shrimp paste or the bagoong to taste it more better and the pancit bihon also best eaten with kalamansi.
I wish we had Filipino restaurants where I live, but no such luck. Hawaii has a lot of amazing foods, and I enjoy your videos sharing all of these with us. Thanks so much💛💚🍜🍛
Ayeee my people’s food! Lol, even though I don’t really know much about my own cuisine 😬 I gotta admit 😅 I gotta learn! I like to make pork adobo in my insta pot and my mom/aunties used to make filipino food a lot when I was kid. Bulalo, Koreans can eat that! I just had some Barbacoa from ‘Chipotle’. It taste like that! Pancit, lechon, and ‘Mang Tomas’ sauce! Fried fish and rice. Egg’y fried rice and lumpia or any kinda rolls.

Kare kare is usually made with oxtails and honeycomb tripe and lots of veggies. They didn’t give you some bagoong to season the kare kare??? Kare kare can be bland so you need the bagoong to add salt to it. I’m glad you highlighted Filipino food, our cuisine needs to be more prominent because it is very tasty and can be very nutritious too with all the veggies!
In eating pinakbet... you dont eat the veg by piece... you tend to mix it so that it balances the taste... especially for the ampalaya since its bitter
That food looks really delicious. Haven’t been to that food court in years. Going to have to make a visit soon. Hardcore Elena’s customer since I live so close …

Btw, regarding halo halo, when I was in the Philippines, they would mix the halo halo throughly before eating. It tastes different when it’s all mixed up, I think it’s better when it’s all mixed up. Looking forward to your next video!
We love Filipino food especially because
All those veggies🤤 we look forward to showing more Filipino food in the future! 🤙🏻
Another place that has awesome Filipino food is

Oh the lechon looks good!
Did they have dinuguan and sinigang?
Try sinigang, sisig, and bicol express
The kare kare bite is with the bagoong. The bagoong elevates the whole bite.
Glad you guys enjoyed the Filipino food..
We love Filipino food🤙🏻🤤
They also have another one in kaneohe at windward city.
In eating pinakbet... you dont eat the veg by piece... you tend to mix it so that it balances the taste... especially for the ampalaya since its bitter
I LOVE PINAKBET AND ADOBO!! I'm so jealous. Ahahaha!

@@AmandaFelixEats check out their instagram page for their monthly specials. Good variety!
Enjoy! Watching from Australia. Pinakbet is a little healthier with veges sans bagoong too salty otherwise.
It is salty! But at least the veges I guess 😅 Mahalo all the way to Australia! 🤙
