It was so nice meeting you Amanda & Felix!!! We are so happy that you enjoyed our banana breads. We were usually in Section 7 or 8D at the swap meet for around 7 years (my husband was there for around 19 years selling dresses previously and he said that you looked familiar). Thank you so much for the wonderful review!!! You two are awesome!!! Theresa & Edmond Gouveia
We really enjoyed them! They were delicious 👌 I thought Edmond looked familiar too! My family and I sold beach towels and t shirts, section 1D 👍we hope to see you guys next time we crave banana bread! Mahalo nui! 🤙
Thanks Felix and Amanda - Following your channel is a genuine cultural education! Many of the Hawaiian food staples my wife and I had never heard of and now we are looking up recipes and planning Hawaiian food meals 🤙
We used to stay at my Aunt's house in Waikele. The only food truck that was in the shopping centre before was the Malasadas. Nice to see that there are more variations now.
omg i haven't had Chamoro food in years. i use to live on Guam when i was stationed there in the navy. I loved that place. i know it has changed alot since i was there, but I use miss the food. I wanna go back someday.
That was nice of the Gouveia’s to give some bread to try!! My fave way to eat it is warm with some vanilla ice cream 🤤 I love going to the Waikele shopping center when on Oahu. Especially cause my cousins would always bring us there to go shopping. Fun Fact: My cousin used to work at the Taste Tea Boba Truck. As always, nice video and can’t wait to see the next video!!
I was distracted by the spinning thing but when I realized it was to ward off the flies it was genius 🤯 really enjoy your guys content thanks for sharing!
Good to know about Waikele outlets and food! My perfect combo: shopping and food! So ono looking from El Jalisciense to Chamorro Grindz to Dick's Lechon to the varieties of Gouveia Ono Banana Bread. Mahalo!
Jaycation visited me Sprouts Farmers Market in San Diego today. We had small talk. I told him some of the peeps I watch and he asked me since I live in San Diego/ Waikiki to I watch Amanda and Felex...snaps I said yes sir Love their show. I fly home Waikiki March 14th short trip. Funny how you all just keep it real. I love that. See you 2 week O'hanas . I take you to Kahuku Superete best Ahi poke on the island. Aloha and Mahalo. Love your show.
Never knew that those food trucks were in that back parking lot. You learn something new every day. Nothing like a good banana loaf. Tasty stuff guys!!!
Pronounced keh-lah-gwen. Bbq’d chicken, chopped up, lemon juice squeezed on it, chopped peppers added, green onion, diced yellow onions, salt & pepper. Fish, shrimp, beef, or deer meat may be used. It’s a take on the Filipino kilawin, which means cooked in acidic liquid, usually vinegar or kalamansi juice and made spicy with chopped up sili labuyo or Thai bird chilies.
Hi guys, you picked some great foods as always. Everything looked amazing but the Lechon, the banana bread and the coconut custard one made my mouth water 💧
Aloha Amanda & Felix. OMG, the banana breads looked super ono, I wonder if they do mail order? Mahalo for always showing such interesting places to chow down at. Happy Aloha Friday!
😍WOW! All those food trucks! The last time I was there in 2015, I only remember Leonard’s being there.😊Nice to see they’ve expanded with more local vendors! 👍🏼Great selection of food! The Birria tacos dipped in the stew looked soo good. 😋The cheese pull looked better on the quesadillas, as did that crunchy Lechon flavored so well that it didn’t need the Mang Tomas! 🥰You guys are awesome showing all the different cultural food choices available. 💕Thanks for also trying some 🇬🇺 Chamorro food. It’s nice to know you’ve tried other Chamorro food and can compare and contrast the difference of “Great” Chamorro food.🥰 The finadene pronounced “fin-na-den-ē” is better on the meat and rice. But if the meat is marinated well, and the rice is seasoned perfectly, they can go without. 😋It’s just an additional flavor enhancer. Kelaguin pronounced “kel-la-gwin” is so much better with tortillas or as we say “ta-ti-zas”. It made me smile when you said “Hafa Adai”🥰, pronounced “Hah-fuh uh-day”. Keep up the fantastic content! Love you both so much!❤️
Wish I can eat banana bread! So miss the flavor. Those looked awesome! 😔Unfortunately I became allergic to bananas later in life after I’ve had the pleasure of knowing how great they are in lots of things.😢 Tip for eating leftover banana bread or any other type of sweet bread loafs. If you refrigerate it, and want to eat it the next day, instead of microwaving them, try slicing them and toasting them to make the outer layer crunchy and if you’re adventurous, spread some cream cheese on them after you’ve toasted them. The different cream cheese flavors are awesome, but I like the plain cream cheese too.😋
Hey guys how are you? Looks like we missed you in the lower lot. We were there on Wed the 2nd. Now we have to go back and have some of that Lechon. Thanks again for your Vids.
🌺 yeahhh on a good Mexican food … can’t wait to try, even more impressive the Chamorro food. Hafa Adai (half-a-day) miss the red rice finedini… kelaguen, yum… was that an empanada? Tanks eh.
Ow wow! I always go to waikele when i go home, but i only knew about the lower level!! Thanks fot letting me about the upper! I am so gonna try the banana breads!!! Awesome! Too bad the birria wasn’t w goat meat! Still ono! Mahalo again!!!👍🏿💕

Jalisco is where the refined colonial era city of Guadalajara is. It is a central Mexican regional cuisine. Al pastor originates in Puebla from Lebanese immigrant goodies who brought the machinery that Souvlaki is finely sheared off as it rotates after dozens of very thinly cut goat or beefsteak are stacked layer upon layer piercing them onto the vertical spear. Mexico has lots of regional cuisine differences.
Guamanian subscriber here! 🙋🏻♀️ That fiesta plate looked bomb! I'm not sure what that salad was doing in there though. 🤣 Glad to see you even got to try the Chamorro empanada. The filling is chalakiles (a spicy rice porridge made with achote and chicken).
Food trucks are so great, it's the best so you can try a lot of different things. It all looks so amazing. I definitely would have been taking banana custard coconut bread 🍞 home. Enjoyed the video 🌟🙏💕
Love your video awesome energy with you two and you go in depth and very informational. I’m curious I’ll be arriving in September very excited. Are there any great romantic night lounges in waikiki or night life without the bar feel ? Great Video wonderful couple.
Like #288 Mmm the red rice!! Haven’t had that in so long. My sister’s hubby is Chamorro, but they’re in Texas now. Haven’t had red rice since she joined the military and moved. Thanks for the recommendation on Chamorro grinds. Oh and the Birria tacos and the fries look so good. Haven’t had that in a while too. I’ve been to Dick’s Lechon before and I love the lechon fried rice and the tocino with eggs. Omg the banana bread!! I love banana bread!! Definitely gonna go try that place out too!! Any ideas to where I can find good lemon bars?
Happy aloha Friday guys… Never knew had food trucks on the upper side of waikele that’s cool… I think I’ll just go for the food not for shopping to expensive over dea lol… Yes I agree the lechon is one of the best over dea… I wonder what time everything close because would be a good stop on our way home from work to try… hopefully one day we can try… have a great and safe weekend… keep the videos coming… aloha 🤙🤙
Dick's Lechon is the best. 'Are we still filming? Sorry." Food has to be good when you forget you're still filming. Didn't know about the upper side. Will have to check it out. I would never have known..and it looks huge compared to the lower side.
Omg where were you guys a year ago?! Myself and another food motivated friend last year visited a friend who could care less about food. Before we went to bed that same night we got off of the plane we wanted to kill her because she just couldn't get that we wanted to eat good the whole time we were there! Nobody wants a sandwich off a 5 hour flight. 🙄 Ugh!
